The Reincarnated Assassin is a Genius Swordsman 1394
Chapter 1394
“Little fly?”
Archangel Ramiel’s jaw, wreathed in crackling lightning, trembled.
“Have you truly gone mad?”
He furrowed his brow, as though unable to understand why Sloth, gravely wounded and on the verge of death, was looking down on him.
“No….”
Sloth, the Monarch of Sloth, calmly shook his head.
“I am only… stating the truth….”
Despite his severe injuries, he gazed at Archangel Ramiel, who was wrapped in lightning, with languid eyes as though nothing were wrong.
“This human gave me my true power….”
Sloth blinked in the middle of his explanation.
“Yaaawn….”
As though even dealing with Archangel Ramiel was too much trouble, he did not even finish speaking before letting out a long yawn.
“Hah?”
A vein bulged on Ramiel’s forehead.
“Are you mocking me!”
Grinding his teeth, he unleashed the lightning surging from his entire body.
“This time, I’ll cut off your head!”
Intent on ending it for certain with this attack, Ramiel raised a hand toward the sky.
Rumble!
The lightning-filled sky trembled, and a spear of lightning formed above Ramiel’s palm. It was not particularly large, but the sheer amount of lightning blazing within it was so immense that the surrounding space appeared distorted.
“Die!”
Ramiel vanished amid a violent burst of lightning. He advanced while searing Sloth’s senses with his lightning and drove the spear of lightning forward.
Just as the spear, blazing with fierce lightning, was about to pierce Sloth’s heart, Sloth’s gaze slowly deepened like an abyssal lake.
“Ah….”
The instant Ramiel saw Sloth’s gaze, a chill ran through him as though he had fallen into a bottomless abyss. He wanted to retreat, but he had already committed himself to the attack and could no longer stop midway.
‘Now that it’s come to this, faster!’
Pushing aside his fear, he accelerated even further and drove the spear of lightning toward Sloth’s neck.
Wooooong!
However, the lightning spear containing Ramiel’s full power failed to pierce Sloth’s neck and stopped dead in place.
“W-What is this….”
Ramiel swallowed dryly when he realized that not only the lightning spear, but he himself had slowed down.
“I clearly seared your perception as I came in!”
The reason he had been able to attack Sloth until now was not simply because he was fast. It had only been possible because the Horn of Destruction and the power he had received from heaven allowed him to sear Sloth’s senses themselves.
He had seared Sloth’s senses just as he had before, yet his attack had still been stopped, leaving him unable to hide his confusion.
“I told you….”
Sloth slowly shook his head.
“You’re slow….”
He blinked as he said that Ramiel was slower than him.
“Don’t spout such nonsense!”
Ramiel ground his teeth, unleashed a barrage of even faster lightning, and charged directly at Sloth with the lightning spear in hand.
Wooooong!
However, neither the lightning Ramiel brought down nor his charge reached Sloth. As though an invisible wall stood before him, all of his attacks came to a halt and went no farther.
“H-How is this….”
Ramiel’s lips turned blue as he stared in shock at everything he had unleashed being stopped.
“Yaaawn….”
Sloth let out a long yawn and wiped away the tears that had gathered at the corners of his eyes.
“It’s complete now….”
Even the tiny droplets that left his mouth as he yawned slowly floated into the air.
“Complete, my ass!”
Telling Sloth not to spout nonsense, Ramiel drove even fiercer lightning and thunderbolts toward him.
“My domain….”
The moment Sloth spoke of his domain being complete as he watched Ramiel’s terrifying assault, the texture of the air around his massive body changed. The lightning Ramiel had summoned slowed as though it were moving through water, and the lightning spear that should have pierced its target in an instant slowed to the speed of a grub crawling along a branch before eventually coming to a complete stop. The glowing streaks seemed to have frozen in midair like some decorative spell.
“Thanks to this child….”
Sloth nodded toward Runaan, saying that she had filled in what had been lacking in his authority of sloth. His words came out in broken fragments, but his gratitude was clear.
“Ah….”
Ramiel swallowed dryly as he watched every one of his attacks come to a complete stop.
“I can’t believe this!”
He thrust out a fist erupting with lightning, unable to believe that Sloth had stopped him even after he had used all of his own power.
Wooooong!
However, even the fist containing Ramiel’s full power failed to reach Sloth. It stopped after pressing against nothing but empty air, as though pushing against the surface of water.
“This is why I said you were slow.”
Sloth lowered his eyes and extended a hand that was streaming with blood.
Booom!
Ramiel’s left arm, which had remained flawless ever since the battle began, was ripped away.
“Aaaaaagh!”
Ramiel screamed from the pain of having his arm ripped off and staggered backward.
“How boring….”
Sloth yawned as he set down Ramiel’s arm, blood dripping from it. Despite his entire body still being covered in wounds, he blinked languidly.
“S-Sloth….”
Ramiel ground his teeth, seemingly more enraged by Sloth looking down on him than by the loss of his arm.
“Raaaaaaaargh!”
The moment he seized the horn at his waist, every bolt of lightning filling the sky crashed down upon him.
Ruuuumble!
Ramiel’s entire body was engulfed in lightning and dissolved into light. His angelic form vanished as he transformed into pure lightning. It was as though he himself had become thunder piercing through the sky.
“In this state, I am….”
Ramiel looked down at Sloth with blue lightning flashing in his eyes.
“I am heaven’s lightning and the god of thunder.”
Arrogantly proclaiming himself a god, he unleashed a terrifying energy wave.
“He’s using the destructive power of the horn on top of the power of heaven that lord Uriel gave him….”
“G-Get away from him immediately! That is the god of lightning!”
The high-ranking angels fled without looking back, horrified by Ramiel’s power.
“Aaaah….”
“Aaaaaagh!”
“W-Why am I… even from this far away….”
“My flesh and bones are melting from the lightning….”
“S-Save me!”
Even the Five Kings Alliance, Eden’s demons, and the celestials were affected by Ramiel after his transformation into a god of lightning, melting wherever the lightning pouring uncontrollably from him touched them.
‘The horn… Ah, I’m sleepy.’
Sloth was thinking about the Horn of Destruction in Ramiel’s possession, but then shook his head as though he could no longer be bothered.
“Let’s just end this….”
He brought both hands together in front of his chest.
“Monarch of Sloth’s Ultimate Technique.”
Sloth spoke in a languid voice.
“Stillness.”
The instant his languid murmur spread, faint ripples appeared as though the world had become a clear lake.
“Nothing you do will matter!”
Ramiel’s voice crackled with lightning.
“I’ll kill you!”
As though willing to sacrifice everything to kill Sloth, he became a bolt of lightning and surged into Sloth’s domain.
And then he slowed.
The lightning slowed. His speed, which had surpassed light, dropped to the speed of wind. The speed of wind fell to a running pace, and eventually, he came to a complete stop.
Shock appeared on Ramiel’s face as he remained in the form of lightning. Yet even that shock was slow. A question filled his trembling eyes.
How was this possible?
“No matter how fast you are… you cannot reach me….”
Sloth slowly shook his head as he separated the hands he had held together before him.
“Whether it’s lightning, light, or sound, everything….”
It was not mockery. He blinked calmly, as though he truly believed what he was saying.
“Is slower than me….”
Sloth released a quiet breath as though nothing Ramiel did had any meaning.
“Grrrrgh!”
Trapped within Sloth’s domain, Ramiel caused his lightning to explode, but even the explosion spread more slowly than a turtle. In the end, it failed to fully erupt and stopped in midair, swollen like a balloon.
“H-How does this make any sense!”
The world that had seemed unbearably slow was speeding up.
Humans, celestials, even Archangels had all been slower than him, but now everything was becoming faster than he was.
“I-I am the god of lightning!”
Ramiel ground his teeth until they creaked and strained to move his immobilized body.
“I’ll burn this entire domain away!”
He let out a monstrous roar, veins bulging across his face.
“I will never stop!”
As Ramiel struggled while gripping the horn hard enough to nearly break it, his body gradually began to move.
“…….”
Sloth slowly narrowed his eyes as he looked at the horn in Ramiel’s hand.
‘So it really is the power of that horn….’
Ramiel had not been an Archangel for very long, so he should not have been able to wield the full power of heaven. However, he was connected to heaven through Uriel and possessed the power of that horn, which seemed to be why he could still move even within Sloth’s domain.
“You really are… such a bother….”
Sloth let out a deep sigh, seemingly fed up with Ramiel struggling to the very end, and rotated his hand counterclockwise.
Wooooong!
At that moment, the Domain of Sloth narrowed, and Ramiel’s struggling body began to stiffen once more. Within the domain where everything slowed, Sloth alone seemed able to move freely.
Step.
Sloth slowly stepped forward into the domain. He advanced with slow, languid, yet certain steps.
“Ah….”
Ramiel drew in a sharp breath as he watched Sloth slowly approach with his eyes frozen in place. Everyone held their breath at the sight of the fastest being watching the slowest being approach as he waited for death.
Sssssss.
Sloth started to raise a hand to crush Ramiel’s neck, but stopped at waist level.
“Ah, what a bother…. I don’t have any authority left….”
As though even killing Ramiel was too much of a bother, he lowered his hand again.
“You do it….”
Saying that he had done enough, Sloth looked toward Runaan, who stood behind him with her eyes closed.
“…”
As though she had been waiting for Sloth’s words, Runaan entered the Domain of Sloth with her eyes still closed. She walked through the Demon King’s domain, where everything slowed, with languid steps as though taking a stroll after waking from a nap.
“Ghh….”
Ramiel ground his teeth hard enough to draw blood, seemingly enraged that Sloth was looking down on him yet again.
“Don’t look down on me!”
Determined to kill Runaan no matter what, he tightened his grip and crushed the horn in his hand.
Crack!
Ramiel wrapped his right arm in the power of destruction that burst forth from the shattered horn and created dark crimson lightning, bringing it down toward Runaan. It was the fastest and most violent bolt he had unleashed yet. Because it contained the destructive power held within the horn, it retained its full strength even inside Sloth’s domain and descended at terrifying speed.
“Mmhh…!”
Even Sloth seemed surprised, his languid, sunken eyes trembling.
“I sensed it all….”
Runaan, however, took another languid step forward as though she had already anticipated Ramiel’s lightning.
Crackle!
As Snow Flower, Runaan’s sword, rose in a faint, shadow-like arc, Sloth’s domain rippled, and the lightning Ramiel had poured everything into began to slow.
Through her swordsmanship, she had drawn in the Monarch of Sloth’s authority.
“Ah….”
Ramiel could only tremble his lips, unable even to speak as he watched the lightning into which he had poured everything being stopped by a human’s sword. Now, even his eyes grew still, as though not only his body but his thoughts had begun to slow as well.
Ssssssh!
Runaan thrust the sword imbued with the authority of sloth toward the neck of Ramiel, who had frozen before he could even show his shock.
Slowly, but perfectly.
Slash!
Ramiel could not evade Runaan’s slow sword. As though even his acceptance of death had been slowed, he died without even feeling the pain of his neck being severed.
As though announcing the end of the battle, Archangel Ramiel’s head fell to the ground with a crisp, resonant sound.
Thud!
