The Reincarnated Assassin is a Genius Swordsman 1377
Chapter 1377
Rumble rumble rumble!
A dragon wrapped in red lightning roared from within the northern clouds, while the southern sky was consumed by dark crimson demonic energy and let out a deep, mournful scream.
Beneath the bizarre sky that seemed to have summoned hell itself, two warriors stood.
No. Calling the two of them simply warriors was an insult to every other warrior. They were displaying such overwhelming might that calling them martial gods would not have been an exaggeration.
The Sword God and the Heavenly Demon. The swordsman who had become a god through the sword, and the fist warrior who had shattered the heavens with his fists. As the two faced each other, the snow flowers blooming atop Veron Mountain melted for the first time in a thousand years.
Kuuuuuuung!
The Heavenly Demon stomped his left foot into the ground. The dark crimson combative energy blooming from his toes melted the lofty peak, while heat like flowing lava erupted from beneath it.
Hwooooooo!
Pressed down by the Heavenly Demon’s presence, the heavens and earth screamed in pain like living beings.
Crackle crackle crackle!
Glenn gazed at the Heavenly Demon with tranquil eyes, holding Heavenly Tremor upright before him. He seemed to have already transcended the flow of the world itself, remaining completely unaffected by the Heavenly Demon’s flames that were melting the mountain. Instead, the lightning dwelling within his sword erased the dark crimson combative energy as though purifying the world itself.
The Heavenly Demon and Glenn no longer spoke. The two Absolutes curled their lips into faint smiles, seemingly satisfied with each other’s might, and waited for the right moment.
Sssssss.
The final fragment of ice remaining atop Veron Mountain melted into a clear droplet and trickled down. At that instant, the Heavenly Demon moved.
Rumble!
The moment the Heavenly Demon lifted the foot that had been pressing down on the earth, his body shot forward like an explosion. It was not footwork, but a charge that seemed to tear space apart as he drove himself through it.
Heavenly Demon’s Ultimate Technique.
Demonic Flame Blooming Through the Heavens.
The dark crimson combative energy surging from the Heavenly Demon’s fist spread outward as petals of flame. It was a fist technique beautiful enough to captivate the eyes and bewilder the mind, but one must not be drawn into that mesmerizing dance. The moment one regained their senses, they would already be surrounded by flowers of combative energy with no way to escape.
Goooooo.
Even though Glenn was not captivated by the Heavenly Demon’s ultimate technique, he did not move an inch. He looked not at the flames of combative energy covering the entire world, but only into the Heavenly Demon’s eyes.
Heavenly Lightning Cultivation’s Ultimate Technique.
Mountain Lightning Palace.
The red lightning condensed at the tip of Glenn’s sword surged upward, taking the form of a massive mountain peak. It rose to a height that reached even higher than Veron Mountain, which itself soared toward the heavens, resembling the North Grave Mountain, the mountain that guarded the northern lands. Glenn was unfolding with his sword the image of North Grave Mountain that he had carried in his heart since childhood.
The moment the flower of combative energy the Heavenly Demon had bloomed and the mountain of lightning Glenn had drawn collided head-on, the light and sound of heaven and earth disappeared. A black-and-white world. An Absolute Domain that had transcended even Transcendence opened atop Veron Mountain.
“Draw the sword that will kill me!”
The Heavenly Demon charged forward, burning his own body as he thrust out his fist. Like the Demonic Dragon that had sought to destroy the world a thousand years ago, space itself caught fire from his movements alone. Everywhere he passed was scorched black and melted, as though not even a single blade of grass would ever grow there again.
Heavenly Demon’s Ultimate Technique.
Demonic Flame.
The Heavenly Demon’s dark crimson fist strike came flying as it distorted the air. He exploded the strength of his body and combative energy as he thrust out his blackened fist, as though intending to tear space itself apart.
“If you wish.”
Glenn slowly lowered the tip of Heavenly Tremor as he watched the Heavenly Demon’s fist technique fill his field of vision, moving so slowly that it was almost tedious.
Formless Sword Ultimate Technique.
Severing Line.
The tip of Heavenly Tremor descended ever so slightly, moving with uncanny subtlety as it summoned thousands of sword flashes.
Kraaaaaaaaaang!
Glenn's sword strike carved countless sword marks into the Heavenly Demon's fist technique as it surged forward, crushing space.
The Heavenly Demon’s Demonic Flame tried to force its way through by sheer power, but ultimately could not withstand Severing Line and was torn apart into thousands of pieces.
“Sharp, but still lacking! That will not be enough to cut off my head!”
The Heavenly Demon did not miss the instant his Demonic Flame was erased. He leaped forward once more, closing the distance until he was close enough for Glenn to hear his breathing.
Kuuuuuung!
The Heavenly Demon condensed the combative energy that had been fiercely surging around him into his fist and unleashed an explosive punch, as though intending to defeat Glenn in close combat. It was less flashy, but its speed and power were even greater, shaking the Absolute Domain as though it were about to shatter.
“Do not worry.”
Glenn was not flustered in the slightest even as he saw the Heavenly Demon approaching right before his eyes.
“I will certainly cut that thick neck of yours.”
As though he had been waiting for this moment, he moved his sword only a short distance and blocked the Heavenly Demon’s fist in perfect form. Even while blocking head-on a fist strike capable of shattering the heavens, the tip of his sword did not waver in the slightest.
“Excellent!”
Even though Glenn had blocked his fist strike, the Heavenly Demon instead broke into a broad grin and thrust out his left fist.
“Waiting for this day has been more than worth it!”
He unleashed a punch descending like a meteor, pouring out combative energy even more intensely than with his right fist.
Kuuuuuuuuung!
Glenn struck aside the Heavenly Demon’s punch with Heavenly Tremor he raised while scraping the ground, a blow powerful enough to bring down Veron Mountain itself. Sword and fist collided violently, twisting the earth and causing the heavens to collapse once again.
“Keep entertaining me!”
The Heavenly Demon continued pouring out more fist strikes, curling his lips into a grin even though his prepared attacks had been blocked one after another. The summit of Veron Mountain, already covered in cracks, seemed to have been filled entirely with his fists.
“I am not the one entertaining you….”
Glenn calmly shook his head and swung Heavenly Tremor. Each time his sword moved calmly, the Heavenly Demon's fist strikes were erased one by one like constellations in the dawn sky.
“You are the one entertaining me.”
Glenn cut down every one of the Heavenly Demon’s fist strikes, muttering in an unbearably arrogant tone as though he had no intention of losing even in their exchange of words. He was not content with defending himself and instead thrust Heavenly Tremor forward. The tip of the sword, glinting with a faint red light, drove toward the Heavenly Demon’s neck at a terrifying speed.
Clang!
The Heavenly Demon flicked the back of his hand, precisely knocking away the blade of Glenn's sword as it lunged forward faster than sound. Without giving Glenn even a moment to breathe, he immediately counterattacked toward his head.
Kuuuuuuung!
Glenn drew a semicircle with Heavenly Tremor as it was knocked aside, redirecting the Heavenly Demon’s counterattack with the smoothness of flowing silk. Normally, fists held the advantage over swords in close combat, but that principle did not seem to apply to him, the man known as the Sword God.
Claaaaang!
Once again, Glenn’s sword strike wrapped in lightning collided with the Heavenly Demon’s fist imbued with combative energy, sending vivid red sparks scattering through the air. The expressions on the two men’s faces, illuminated by the flames, were starkly different. The Heavenly Demon wore a crazed smile as though he were enjoying himself, while Glenn’s eyes remained tranquil, as though filled with a serene, enlightened presence.
The Heavenly Demon and Glenn exchanged thousands of blows before the clouds had moved even half the width of a fingernail. Every time the swords and fists of the two Absolutes collided, the terrain twisted. Cliffs shattered, rocks collapsed, and the valleys filled with a tawny haze. Meanwhile, Veron Mountain grew steadily lower, its height beginning to approach the realm of humans.
They were evenly matched. Glenn and the Heavenly Demon perfectly blocked each other’s attacks without revealing even the slightest opening. To an onlooker unfamiliar with them, their movements were so natural that they looked like two Absolutes performing a rehearsed exchange.
Rumble rumble rumble!
Even though the Heavenly Demon and Glenn were wielding enough power in each strike to bring down an entire castle, neither showed any sign of tiring. Instead, they unleashed increasingly powerful martial arts, making heaven and earth tremble. It was enough to make one think that this world itself, intimidated by the might of the two Absolutes, was lending them its mana.
“You weren’t lying when you said you would focus solely on this fight. However….”
The Heavenly Demon smiled deeply, evidently satisfied with his battle against Glenn, before narrowing his eyes.
“Are you not going to use the Heart Sword?”
He smacked his lips as though waiting for Glenn to use the Heart Sword.
“You are an opponent who must be brought to your knees by Heavenly Tremor.”
Glenn shook his head, showing that he did not want to end things quickly with the Heart Sword.
“Besides, I have no desire to use it against an opponent who so blatantly wishes for me to do so.”
He snorted, sensing that the Heavenly Demon had already devised a way to counter the Heart Sword before coming here.
"Kuhahahahaha!"
The Heavenly Demon threw back his head in a burst of wild laughter as he brushed aside the strands of hair that had fallen beneath his dragon helmet.
“Excellent! Excellent! I never knew fighting an opponent of equal caliber could be this much fun!”
He wiped the blood pooled on his lips with the back of his hand and curled his lips upward.
“I’ve never felt like this before.”
Glenn spat out the blood that had gathered in his mouth and nodded.
“There will never be anything this exhilarating again in the rest of my life.”
He, too, smiled faintly, enjoying this moment of fighting the Heavenly Demon.
Thin streams of blood trickled from the corners of the Heavenly Demon’s and Glenn’s mouths. Though the energy they could unleash was close to infinite, their bodies and souls were not, and injuries were steadily accumulating within the two Absolutes.
Yet the Heavenly Demon and Glenn seemed to grow even more exhilarated from their internal injuries, their blood-stained lips forming childlike smiles.
“With you before me, I feel like I can unleash even more martial arts.”
The Heavenly Demon nodded solemnly, saying that Glenn’s presence allowed him to display martial arts like this.
“Let’s make this even more intense.”
The Heavenly Demon brought his hands together as though in prayer, and terrifyingly hot combative energy poured forth, hot enough to make it difficult to breathe. It looked as though a dark crimson sun had risen behind him.
“Unleash everything you have.”
Glenn slowly nodded, as though promising to accept everything the Heavenly Demon had to give.
“I, too, have endless sword techniques coming to mind that I never would have thought of before.”
His noble eyes sharpened as he felt himself growing stronger through this battle to the death, just as the Heavenly Demon did.
Rumble!
The Heavenly Demon stamped his foot and thrust out his right fist.
Heavenly Demon’s Ultimate Technique.
Demonic Tidal Wave.
The combative energy condensed into a circle around the Heavenly Demon’s fist exploded, taking the shape of a tidal wave. His dark crimson combative energy surged forward, wiping away even the black-and-white light.
Whoooooo.
Glenn calmly steadied his breathing and swung Heavenly Tremor.
Heavenly Lightning of the Azure Sky, Ultimate Technique.
Heavenly Wolf Art.
The heavens moved in accordance with the flow of Glenn’s swordsmanship. The sky that had been erased by distorted cracks regained its original light, and lightning descended like divine retribution.
The world flashed white once again. Within the true Absolute Domain, where even sound had finally disappeared, combative energy swallowed the lightning, and then the lightning tore the combative energy apart.
Gooooooo!
It was at the moment when the Heavenly Demon and Glenn were about to unleash their full-power martial arts once again amid the terrifying clash of aura as Demonic Tidal Wave and Heavenly Wolf Art collided.
“Glenn Zieghart!”
Someone leaped toward the Heavenly Demon and Glenn from beneath Veron Mountain, which had finally been reduced to a hill.
“This isn’t what we agreed on!”
He displayed swordsmanship that rivaled even the mastery of Glenn and the Heavenly Demon, thrusting a black sword wreathed in seething black aura toward the two of them.
“I’ll be the first to take your head!”
