The Reincarnated Assassin is a Genius Swordsman 1363

 Chapter 1363

The cold lake of the annex building lay still, filled with a chilling cold.

Raon sat upon the surface of the lake with his eyes closed. Though a cold, biting wind swept around him as though he were deeply immersed in meditation, he merely breathed calmly.

Nooooooo!

Seeing him like that, Wrath ground his teeth so hard they made a grating sound.

It’s the night before the war! You should be sleeping comfortably in bed! Why are you meditating?!

He ground his teeth, saying that he simply could not understand Raon.

‘I’m comfortable like this.’

Raon calmly opened his eyes and looked at Wrath.

‘Besides, I don’t think I’ll be able to sleep tonight.’

For an entire year, he had looked forward to nothing but tomorrow, and the anticipation and tension made it unlikely that he would be able to sleep.

Then what about the King of Essence?!

Wrath deeply furrowed his brow.

The King of Essence wants to sleep in a nice, soft bed!

‘Huh?’

Raon blinked at Wrath.

‘You’re in a spirit form anyway, so it doesn’t matter where you sleep.’

He tilted his head, wondering whether Wrath could even feel the softness of a bed and blanket.

Even so, it feels different! It’s about how it feels!

Wrath lowered his brows, saying that he still liked sleeping warm and cozy in a bed, no matter how faint his senses became.

‘The Demon King of Wrath who uses cold energy wants to sleep somewhere warm….’

Raon sighed as Wrath became increasingly difficult to understand.

‘All right. I’ll go inside.’

Since his companion wanted it, he had no choice but to nod.

You should’ve done that from the start!

‘But before that….’

Raon turned his chin slightly as he gazed at the soft moonlight.

‘There’s one thing I need to check somewhere brighter.’

Check?

Wrath wrinkled his nose.

What have you overlooked this time?! The King of Essence told you to finish everything you had to do from the start!

‘Then you won’t get angry if I check?’

Get angry? It’s your business, so why would the King of Essence get angry?!

‘Really?’

Of course! You’re the one who made the mistake, so why would the King—

‘Then I’ll check it.’

Just as Wrath was about to launch into another lecture, Raon snapped his fingers.

Snap!

With a crisp sound, a massive message appeared before Raon’s eyes.

“Ha!”

Raon let out a hollow laugh as he looked at the status window.

‘It’s really getting hard to read all of this now.’

The number of traits in my status window has increased greatly, and my stats have skyrocketed as well. It's become impossible to take in all the information at a glance anymore. No, it's simply become so large that reading it is difficult in itself.

‘Pride really has been unlocked.’

The authority of <Pride> has been added to my traits. Until now, it didn't feel particularly real, but seeing it with my own eyes makes me feel as though the power of the authority itself is flowing into me.

‘It still doesn’t make sense, even when I’m seeing it with my own eyes.’

I still can't believe that the authorities of the seven demon kings, each one capable of shaking the world on its own, are now with me.

‘My traits have grown a lot too.’

There are many traits, but not a single one is unnecessary. Every one of them is something I need, and their power has grown stronger along with me over time. Now, I truly feel confident that I can defeat any enemy, no matter who they are.

What…?

Wrath blinked as he looked at the status window.

W-what is this?! Why is it so wide and so tall?!

He trembled his chin, saying that it was like looking at a wall.

‘You can see it?’

He can’t see it! That’s why it’s even more frustrating!

Wrath swallowed hard, saying that he still could not see the contents of the status window, yet its enormous size was making him feel suffocated.

H-how many traits do you have now?

He swallowed hard again, as though he absolutely had to know.

‘It’s a hassle to count them….’

Count them already!

‘About 51, I think?’

F-fifty-one? No, you have more than fifty?!

Wrath trembled his chin, saying that he had never imagined there would be that many.

‘Yeah. I didn’t expect to have more than fifty either.’

Grrrrr….

His face gradually turned pale as though an unbearable surge of anger were welling up inside him.

T-then what about your stats?

‘They’re all over 3,200. My perception is even over 3,300.’

Even as Raon said it aloud, he let out a breath of disbelief, knowing how absurd it sounded.

Th-Thirty-three hundred….

Wrath opened his mouth so wide it looked ready to split, apparently never having expected the stats to exceed 3,000 either. Something pure white rose from his mouth. It looked like a soul.

‘I do think my status window has gotten a little too big.’

Raon nodded with a slightly awkward expression.

‘And I think I’ve received a little too much.’

Looking at the numbers in the status window, Raon finally understood what Wrath had always meant when he said that his main body would be reduced to nothing but bones.

T-The King of Essence has been telling you all along!

Wrath clenched his molars so hard they seemed ready to crack.

He has been telling you an absurd amount of power has flowed into you!

His pale lips trembled as he said that Raon had practically drained him dry just to make himself stronger.

The King of Essence’s going to beat that system to within an inch of its life and take back his power no matter what!

Wrath growled like a beast, swearing that he would reclaim his power by any means necessary.

‘You said you weren’t going to get angry.’

Raon tilted his head slightly, bringing up what Wrath had said earlier.

Huh? Uh….

Wrath remembered his own words and sniffed.

H-He’s not angry! Even you can see that the status window is way too big!

‘Hmm….’

Even though the King of Essence can’t see the status window, it’s so huge that he can practically feel the pressure from it! He’s telling you, this absolutely has to be reduced!

Wrath shook his head, insisting that he was not angry and was merely giving some sound advice.

[The rank of the <Iron Will> trait has increased.]

[The rank of the <Ascara’s Combative Energy> trait has increased.]

[The <Iron Will> trait and the <Ascara’s Combative Energy> trait have undergone a linked evolution.]

[A new trait, <Iron Combative Energy>, has been created.]

The ranks of the two traits suddenly increased, and they even underwent a linked evolution.

‘Whoa?’

Huh!

Before Raon and Wrath could even react to the message, another message appeared.

[The rank of the <Snow Flower’s Veil> trait has increased.]

[The rank of the <Magic Armor of Snow Flower> trait has increased.]

[Trait <Snow Flower’s Veil> and Trait <Magic Armor of Snow Flower> are undergoing linked evolution.]

[A new trait, <Silver Demon King’s Coat>, has been created.]

The evolution did not stop at one. <Snow Flower’s Veil> and <Magic Armor of Snow Flower> had also merged to create a new trait.

‘Is this for real?’

Raon let out an exclamation at the two unique traits he had suddenly acquired.

Guuuaaah!

Wrath spewed his soul from his mouth once again. It seemed he could not believe it even after seeing it with his own eyes.

‘Let’s see….’

Raon smacked his lips in anticipation as he checked the new unique traits.

[Iron Combative Energy]

A combative energy that can only be possessed by a warrior who has never been broken. The deeper the wounds on the body and the fainter the warrior’s vitality and aura become, the stronger their combative energy grows.

[Silver Demon King’s Coat]

The coat most cherished by the Silver Demon King who once shook devildom. As long as his will remains unbroken, it shall neither be seen nor broken.

Raon could not hold back from applauding as he looked at the abilities of his new traits.

‘This is insane.’

It didn’t just combine the two traits. It even enhanced them.

[Iron Combative Energy] and [Silver Demon King’s Coat] had both been created by combining their previous traits and then enhancing them further. He was filled with an overwhelming desire to test out his new traits.

‘I didn’t expect the system to go this far just because tomorrow, no, today, is the day of the war.’

Just as Raon bowed his head to thank the system,

Thank you? Bullshiiiiit!

Wrath leaped up, spewing a torrent of filthy curses.

You should be thanking this King! Those are all this King’s abilities, so why does that system get to give them to you without even asking for permission?!

He screamed that this was deliberate embezzlement.

‘It’s not embezzlement, is it?’

Raon calmly shook his head.

How is this not embezzlement?! The King of Essence’s things are being taken without permission….

‘You said it yourself.’

Eh? W-what did the King of Essence say…?

‘You said the status window was too big and needed to be reduced.’

Raon pointed toward the status window, which had become slightly smaller than before.

‘Thanks to you, two traits have been removed.’

Four traits had been reduced to two, and the status window had become slightly smaller. Raon gave him a gentle smile.

‘The number of traits has even dropped below fifty. Isn’t this exactly what you wanted?’

Ah…. Ah! AAAAAAAAH!

Only now did Wrath realize that the system had not simply acted on its own, and he let out a scream.

Why does it have to listen so well to things like this?! You crazy system bastard! He’s really going to kill you!

His declaration that he would kill it rang out so loudly that it seemed capable of breaking through the limitations of his spirit form and echoing throughout the world.

*   *   *

Kkeuaaaaaagh!

Wrath rose into the sky and spent a long while venting his pent-up frustration before slowly descending to the ground.

Hoo, he finally feels a little better.

He let out a deep breath, saying that one shouldn’t hold things in.

‘That’s good.’

After thoroughly organizing his own might based on the contents of the status window, Raon formed a faint smile.

By the way….

Wrath looked at him with a somewhat calmer gaze.

What are the current ranks of <Wrath Release>, <Authority Control>, and <Authority Amplification>?

His eyes narrowed as though he had suddenly become curious about them.

‘<Wrath Release> is 8 stars, < Authority Control> is 10 stars, and <Authority Amplification > is 9 stars.’

Raon told Wrath the ranks of the traits since Wrath could not see the status window.

8, 10, and 9….

Wrath let out a short groan.

That could become dangerous.

‘Dangerous?’

Raon’s eyes widened at the mention of danger.

‘What’s dangerous?’

The King of Essence told you before, didn’t he? Since the King of Essence has been separated from his main body and has been with you for such a long time….

Just as Wrath was about to explain what he meant by dangerous—

“It’s a fine night with the moon out. What are you doing here alone?”

Glenn stepped onto the transparent surface of the lake with calm strides.

“If you still cannot sleep….”

He placed a hand on Heavenly Tremor and gave a gentle smile as soft as moonlight.

“I would like to show you a sword dance.”
