The Reincarnated Assassin is a Genius Swordsman 1376
Chapter 1376
‘You finally crawled out.’
Raon narrowed his eyes like blades as he watched the archangel appear amid brilliant radiance.
‘Uriel.’
The golden-haired, blue-eyed celestial who made such a grand entrance, as though he were the god of this world, was naturally Uriel. I had thought him to be an exceptionally cold and ruthless man, as though he always harbored a hidden blade within him. But even someone like him apparently could not bring himself to let a subordinate who had served him for so long die. So, he had finally revealed himself.
‘Unless that’s not the reason….’
Raon tightened his grip around Heavenly Drive.
‘He may have finished all of his preparations.’
Uriel had said during his conversation with the Secluded Hermit that he was unlocking the lock, so there was also a chance that he had broken that seal.
That cannot be the case.
Wrath deeply furrowed the bridge of his nose as he looked at the horn trumpets hanging from Uriel’s waist.
The seals placed on the trumpets that summon destruction were put there directly by those archangels themselves.
He lowered his chin, saying that even for Uriel, it would not be an easy task.
‘Then that’s a relief.’
Raon calmly nodded.
‘Now I only have to stop the celestials.’
The archangel and the celestials joining the war had been expected from the beginning, and all preparations for them had already been completed.
But the Dragon of Destruction was different.
Whether Eden resurrected it or the archangels summoned it by blowing the trumpets, it had to be stopped at all costs.
‘Because there’s still no one who can stop it.’
No matter how much stronger I had become, defeating the monster that had driven the world to the brink of destruction a thousand years ago in a direct confrontation was beyond me. The wisest way to win a war was to destroy the enemy’s weapon before they had a chance to use it.
“Why are you just standing there watching?”
Raon tilted his chin as he looked up at the archangel Uriel, who was watching Aetheron’s death.
“I said come down.”
He lightly shook off Heavenly Drive, whose blade was stained with Aetheron’s blood, and narrowed his brow.
“Raon Zieghart.”
The archangel Uriel parted his blood-red lips. His voice was low, yet it sank heavily into everyone’s ears like the beating of a drum in the heavens.
“O sinner of Heaven. Throughout thousands of years of history, there has been no human who has committed as many sins against the celestial as you.”
Uriel heavily lowered his chin, declaring that Raon has committed uncountably many sins.
“Sinner?”
Raon let out a mocking laugh.
“Who are you calling a sinner when you are the parasite-like things that came out to destroy people who were living perfectly fine?”
He snorted, muttering that the true sinners of the continent were not him, but the celestials.
“That’s right! You’re the sinners! You’re trespassing!”
Martha shouted that the celestials were sinners for entering another dimension without permission, raising her middle finger.
“I can’t see because it’s so bright….”
Runaan sighed, saying that the light hurt her eyes and made it difficult to look at the archangel Uriel.
“P-Please wear these glasses. They’re black, so you can even look at the sun.”
Dorian mumbled that it is a necessity, pulling out black glasses from his belly pocket and handing them to everyone.
“These are nice. It feels like we’re at the zoo in Cameloon!”
Krein snickered as he treated the archangel Uriel like an animal trapped in a cage.
“He’s still an archangel. Show some respect to the enemy commander.”
Burren told the Light Wind swordsmen to show proper respect, even as he put on the sunglasses Dorian had given him.
“I can see him much better now. His feathers are pretty impressive.”
Contrary to what he had said at first, he too viewed Uriel like an animal in a zoo, just like Krein.
The executives of Light Wind Palace had followed Raon through experiences that had taken them beyond life and death, and had even met Demon Kings and received their authorities. As a result, even when faced with the archangel Uriel, a being renowned as one of the greatest existences, they were not frightened and could behave as they normally did.
“How dare you….”
The archangel Uriel had apparently never imagined that he would be disregarded not only by Raon, but even by Raon’s subordinates. Thick veins rose on his forehead. His unshakable composure seemed close to breaking.
Kahahahaha!
Wrath burst out laughing at the sight.
Excellent! They certainly are the children the King of Essence raised!
He even clapped his hands, delighted to see the Light Wind swordsmen, whom he had never actually raised, disregarding Uriel.
“Enough.”
Despite his words, Raon did not restrain the swordsmen of the Light Wind swordsmen as he looked at Uriel.
‘Should I call this a relief?’
He’s not much different from when I destroyed the temple.
I had weakened Uriel by destroying the temple connected to heaven, but I had anticipated that Uriel might recover his strength through some method I did not know.
Yet the Uriel before my eyes now was not much different from then. It was true that he had recovered some divine power, but it seemed that he had come before completing all of his preparations and had not been able to fully recover his might.
‘I can take him… Hmm?’
Raon nodded in satisfaction as he recalled the past year he had spent pushing himself to the limit, then lowered his brows.
‘But….’
Why does that bastard only have two horn trumpets?
When Uriel split open the body of Derus Robert's son, Lephone Robert, and appeared, there had been three horn trumpets hanging from his waist.
But now, there were only two horn trumpets visible at his waist.
….
Wrath looked at Uriel’s waist and lightly bit his lip.
He seems to have handed one over.
He let out a deep sigh, saying that Uriel appeared to have given one of the horn trumpets to another archangel.
‘Handed it over?’
As he said before, those horn trumpets possess the power to summon destruction. Even though that power has been divided among seven trumpets, it is still difficult even for an Absolute to withstand. Uriel definitely passed one of the horn trumpets to another archangel.
Wrath nodded, saying that Uriel had become weakened and could no longer bear the burden of three horn trumpets.
Honestly, the current Uriel looks like he would struggle to use even those two. That is likely the reason his preparations took so long.
‘Then….’
Raon swallowed dryly as he understood the meaning behind Wrath’s words.
‘I need to kill him now and end the war as quickly as possible.’
Killing Uriel right now, before he could handle the two horn trumpets or pass either one of them to another archangel, was the best way to end the war with the fewest possible casualties.
“If you don’t come down….”
Raon slowly nodded and raised Heavenly Drive again.
“I’ll kill the other one as well.”
Declaring that he would wait no longer, he brought his sword down upon the angel Ellara, who was holding Aetheron’s corpse.
Shwaaaar!
Just as the blade of red-hot Heavenly Drive was about to cut through Ellara, the pillar of light surrounding her grew brighter.
Krrrsh!
The golden pillar blocked the blade of Heavenly Drive that had been aimed at Ellara, then slowly lifted her and Aetheron into the air.
“I knew you would.”
Raon snorted and kicked off the ground. Like a serpent-dragon that had spent a thousand years gathering its strength before ascending to the heavens, he shot straight into the sky and thrust Heavenly Drive toward Uriel, who was looking down upon the humans.
Ten Thousand Flames Cultivation, Thousand Flames.
Ultimate Point.
The ultimate technique of the Ten Thousand Flames Cultivation, which condensed flames at the tip of the sword to pierce through the enemy, shot toward Uriel’s brow.
Kyaaang!
Uriel knocked away the tip of Heavenly Drive with his bare hand, without even wielding a weapon. His golden, gleaming hand blade collided with the red-flashing blade of Heavenly Drive, creating a massive vortex of light high in the sky.
“Sinner Raon Zieghart.”
Uriel bared his white teeth as he looked at Raon behind Heavenly Drive.
“You will lose this war and spend tens of thousands of years imprisoned in Heaven’s prison.”
In a firm voice that sounded like a prophecy, he spoke of Raon’s future.
“Tens of thousands of years? Sorry, but I have no desire to live that long.”
Raon twisted his chin as he burned away Uriel’s golden divine power.
“I’ll kill you today, then live out my natural lifespan and die.”
Contrary to Uriel, he twisted up the corners of his mouth as he spoke of victory in the war today.
“Good. Let us see whose heaven’s flow proves true.”
The moment Uriel nodded, golden light surged once again from the dimension opened behind him, and celestials with pure white wings began pouring out.
“Heaven’s flow?”
Raon did not flinch even as the angels instantly covered the sky.
“I don’t believe in such things as heaven’s flow. What I believe in is….”
Looking at the eyes of the Light Wind swordsmen on the ground, who were watching only him, he formed a faint smile.
“Myself and my comrades.”
Raon tightened his grip around Heavenly Drive.
“Light Wind Palace!”
He called out to the comrades he believed in, while continuing to press only Uriel before him.
“It’s your time!”
* * *
At the summit of Veron Mountain, the Cameloon Plains could be seen faintly below. A giant wearing a dark-red dragon helmet faced an old man who stood with his sword raised, carrying himself like an immortal.
“It seems they’re finally getting serious over there.”
The Heavenly Demon nodded as he adjusted the sleeve of his coat, which had been cut nearly in half.
“Aren’t you worried? Your beloved grandson is fighting a dangerous opponent.”
His eyes narrowed as though he had sensed Raon and Uriel clashing.
“Worried?”
Glenn chuckled as he dusted off the sleeve of his torn uniform.
“I’m worried about only one thing.”
Without even looking toward where Raon was, he swung Heavenly Tremor.
“What frightens me most is the thought that he’ll grow even further this time and leave me with nothing more to teach him.”
With those words, Glenn made it clear that he was confident in both his own victory and Raon’s.
“An archangel is no match for that child.”
He kept his attention solely on the Heavenly Demon, showing that he trusted Raon more than anyone.
“Kahahahaha!”
The Heavenly Demon burst into thunderous laughter as he gripped his dark-red dragon helmet.
“Good. I was worried that I wouldn’t enjoy this if you became distracted by what’s happening over there, but I don’t need to worry about that.”
Clearly pleased with Glenn’s answer, he slammed his fists together. Dark-red combative energy scattered around them like sparks.
“Since we have tested the waters enough….”
The Heavenly Demon caught his breath and raised his fists halfway, taking a stance with his hands only partially clenched.
“Now let’s begin properly.”
He declared that they would engage in a true duel to the death, where life or death would be decided by the slightest difference, and unleashed combative energy powerful enough to shake the massive mountain.
“Good.”
Red lightning began to emerge from Glnen’s wrinkled hand, then flowed along the blade, forming a massive bolt of lightning like a thunderbolt falling from the heavens.
“I’ll kill you here….”
He raised Heavenly Tremor to the center line, its blade crackling with red lightning, and aimed it at the Heavenly Demon’s heart.
“Then I’ll go watch my grandsons’ fight.”
