The Reincarnated Assassin is a Genius Swordsman 1375

 Chapter 1375

What is a sword?

Whether one cultivates the mind to attain an unshakable state of mind, trains a life-saving sword to protect oneself and others, or elevates swordsmanship into the realm of art through sword dancing, the value of the sword and swordsmanship ultimately lies in cutting down others.

In his previous life, Raon wielded a sword solely for killing. In this life, he learned swordsmanship for self-cultivation, and after overcoming countless hardships, he ultimately came to realize once again that a sword was a weapon for killing. Thanks to those experiences, his understanding of swordsmanship had reached a level superior to anyone else’s.

The sword of the angel Aetheron, however, was different. As the guardian angel of the archangel Uriel, he had trained only in the sword for protecting himself and his allies from the very beginning. He had certainly reached the highest level in the realm of defense, but he lacked the killing intent that a swordsman was supposed to possess upon taking up a sword.

Raon targeted that very weakness. He had perfectly understood the concept of the sword and was wielding his swordsmanship according to its flow, so against Aetheron, who moved in the opposite direction, he already held the advantage before the battle even began.

Raon Zieghart Style Swordplay.

Tenth Form, True Sword.

A sword technique meant for the sword to exist as a sword. A true sword created solely to cut down the enemy tore across the angel's breath.

“Grrgh!”

Sensing the viciousness imbued in Raon's sword, Aetheron unleashed an absolute defensive technique that poured everything he had into his defense.

Slaaaash!

But Raon’s will to annihilate his enemy shattered Aetheron’s will to protect his allies, cutting through both his sword and his body. A sword that killed the enemy and a sword that protected itself. It was no different from a battle whose outcome had already been decided from the very beginning.

“Ah….”

Aetheron dropped to his knees, coughing up blackened blood. His bloodstained lips trembled as he looked at his own sword, split in half and embedded in the ground.

Whoa!

Wrath let out an exclamation after seeing the battle end with a single strike.

What the hell! That bastard wasn't someone who should have gone down so easily!

Apparently acknowledging Aetheron, he widened his eyes in disbelief at how easily the angel had been defeated.

“Huh…?”

“N-No way! That's an angel!”

“He went down that easily? They only clashed swords twice….”

“A-Are we really going to be able to beat that guy?”

The demons of Eden were horrified that the angel who had come as reinforcements had been defeated, and their morale sank even further.

“As expected of the Sword Immortal!”

“The Immortal is above the angel!”

“That’s right! As long as that man is here, we’ll never lose!”

It was not only the Light Wind Palace. Every member of the alliance on the battlefield seemed to have gained even greater faith in Raon, and they drove the enemy back more fiercely than before.

“Yeah! That’s it!”

Martha clapped her hands and shouted in excitement.

“A swordsman should swing a sword with the intent to kill the enemy like that! To hell with defense!”

She smacked her lips.

“You and the palace master are different.”

Burren sighed at Martha.

“Others are backing you up from behind, which is why you can fight like that.”

He shook his head, telling her to be grateful to the other swordsmen.

“I can't, but….”

Runaan looked at Raon with her hands clasped together.

“I like that sword the most….”

Despite her blank expression, she liked Raon's swordsmanship, overflowing with killing intent, and formed the faintest of smiles.

“H-He was defeated in one strike?”

The Black Form Snake gritted his teeth as he deflected and let Ogram’s fist slide past him.

“Shouldn’t we really run? This isn’t our day!”

He yelled at the Eight Great Demon, saying it seemed they could not defeat Raon unless the archangel arrived.

“Fight.”

The Eight Great Demon calmly shook his head even though he had been unable to block Chamber’s magic head-on and had barely evaded it.

“For the restoration.”

He furrowed his brow, making it clear that he would never let anyone escape.

“Don't focus so much on Raon.”

Chamber twisted the corners of her mouth as she crushed the lollipop between her teeth.

“You’re not fighting Raon….”

She manipulated space magic that glowed blue and raised her chin.

“We're the ones who'll bury you!”

*   *   *

“Die.”

Unlike the others, Raon regarded the outcome as only natural and raised Heavenly Drive above his head, its heat not yet having subsided.

Just as he was about to bring the sword down and cut Aetheron apart, a black shadow sprang out from behind him.

“Stop!”

It was the angel Ellara. For the first time, she moved her sword first in order to protect Aetheron.

“E-Ellara. Run….”

Aetheron told Ellara to retreat, but his hoarse, broken voice only gave her greater strength.

Fwoooooosh!

Before the divine power imbued in her sword had fully ignited, Ellara thrust her rapier forward first. Her swift swordsmanship had reached such an extreme that even Raon could see only a faint trace of its trajectory.

“You’re better.”

Raon calmly nodded as he sensed the intense killing intent contained within Ellara’s sword.

“But you’re still lacking.”

Ellara clearly knew that a sword was a tool for killing. But perhaps because of her timid nature, her swordsmanship failed to properly embody that intent. All she wanted was to kill her enemy quickly so that they would not suffer.

“If you're going to show consideration for the enemy….”

Raon’s calmly swung Heavenly Drive violently knocked Ellara’s rapier aside.

“Then think about what you came here for.”

As he told her to feel ashamed, he thrust Heavenly Drive toward Ellara.

Krrrsh!

Ellara’s rapier shattered like reeds, and just as her heart was about to be pierced by Heavenly Drive—

“Ellara! Run!”

Aetheron stepped forward to protect Ellara, gripping his broken sword. He was not trying to block the sword. He intended to use his body as a shield.

“We need to buy time!”

Even while coughing up blood, he shouted that they needed to buy time for Uriel.

“N-No! I’m never leaving!”

Ellara shook her head fiercely, saying that she would not leave Aetheron behind.

“R-Running away by myself is meaningless!”

Saying that there was no point because she could not escape anyway, she threw herself forward beside Aetheron.

“As expected, you came.”

Raon had not missed Aetheron's movements, so he already knew that he would leap forward.

“Die, both of you.”

He wrapped flames around Heavenly Drive and swung his sword to cut down Aetheron and Ellara at the same time.

Boom!

Just before Heavenly Drive's blade could cut through Aetheron and Ellara, a massive golden pillar descended from within the dimension from which the two angels had emerged.

It's that bastard!

Wrath raised his head toward the sky, shouting that he had finally arrived.

‘Yeah.’

Raon followed Wrath’s gaze toward the sky and nodded.

‘He’s here.’

The archangel he had been waiting for had finally arrived, and the corners of his mouth curled upward.

Rumbleeeee!

The sky filled with gray dust seemed to scream as it tore apart. Above the darkened heavens, as though night had descended once more, a light more brilliant and pure than the sun poured down like a waterfall, striking the center of the battlefield.

Amidst the overwhelming radiance that made it hard to even open one's eyes, he revealed himself.

The first thing that entered the humans’ sight was a pair of pure white wings. Eight wings symbolizing an archangel spread along the horizon, completely covering the distorted black sky and leaving behind nothing but holy golden light. The feathers that formed the wings sparkled brightly like jewels meticulously crafted by a master artisan, while also radiating an unyielding strength that would never bend, like the World Tree.

Whoooooosh!

When the archangel spread his wings once more, the sky moved and the earth shook, violently pushing back the humans who earnestly desired victory in the war.

The magnificent radiance, grand as the sun, slowly subsided, and the archangel’s figure gradually began to come into view.

Yet even after the light pouring from the dimension faded, their eyes hurt even more. It was because of the noble light that blossomed simply from the archangel's existence in this world.

His fine hair looked as though it had been woven from threads drawn from molten gold, and the flawless beauty visible between those strands was beyond anything human. The archangel's appearance, transcending humanity to the point of being eerie, struck the people with another shock that nearly stopped their breath.

The archangel slowly lifted his eyelids. His eyes were certainly blue, but their color was far removed from any shade of blue found in this world. Within them burned an abyssal light, like the pure white glaciers of an untouched snowy wasteland mixed with the sea that supported them from below.

“Ahhh….”

“I-is that an archangel?”

“I-I can’t breathe.”

“How can such a being exist in this world….”

The warriors of the Five Kings dropped their weapons and fell to their knees simply from meeting the archangel’s gaze, as though they had lost the will to fight altogether. Like prey standing before a predator, they seemed incapable of even entertaining the thought of resisting.

The archangel did not descend to the ground. Instead, he stood in the sky and looked down arrogantly. With his white robe billowing in the wind and his eyes looking down upon the humans with utter arrogance, he seemed less like an archangel and more like a judge who had come to destroy the world.

Rumbleeeee!

The archangel gently raised his hand and pointed toward the far end of the battlefield. Just as confusion appeared on the faces of the Magic Tower’s mages standing where his finger was directed—

Fwoooooosh!

The mages were engulfed in flames and melted away. There was not even time to defend themselves. The flames possessed such horrific power that everything turned to ash the moment they touched it.

Gooooooo!

When the archangel raised his finger once more, the bodies of the Beast Union warriors who had been driving back the demons of Eden came pouring down, their flesh sliced into pieces. A new word arose in the minds of those who had been thinking of victory: fear.

“Waaaaaagh!”

“W-What is that power?!”

“Even for a celestial, that's impossible!”

“I-I couldn’t even sense any mana.”

The warriors who had stood firm despite the archangel's arrival finally backed away in fear.

“The real one has finally arrived!”

“It’s an archangel! Only an archangel can possess such power!”

“Now it's our turn! Let's destroy those human bastards!”

“We'll pay them back for everything they've done to us, and more!”

Meanwhile, Eden's demons were emboldened by the arrival of the true archangel, their fighting spirit and combative energy surging as they mercilessly drove back the warriors of the Five Kings Alliance, who had frozen in fear.

Gooooooo!

Just as the archangel was about to raise his hand toward Owen’s knights, who were enduring Eden’s fierce assault—

Kyaaang!

A chilling sound rang out, disrupting the flow of the battlefield that the archangel had dominated.

Crack-crackle-crackle!

The golden pillar that the archangel was protecting by directly sending down divine power shattered, and Aetheron's chest inside it burst open as though it had exploded.

“You show up late and then stand there putting on a damn show?”

Raon roughly twisted Heavenly Drive that was embedded in Aetheron's chest.

“Come down.”

After twisting Heavenly Drive free and crushing Aetheron's heart, Raon curled his lips into a smile.

“I'll cut off that head of yours along with your subordinate's.”
