The Reincarnated Assassin is a Genius Swordsman 1367
Chapter 1367
The two Absolutes stood at the center of the plain and unleashed the martial arts they had each built up over decades.
Krrrzzzzzzzt!
Glenn wrapped a red lightning bolt tempered through enlightenment around the blade of Heavenly Drive and cleaved through heaven and earth, while the Heavenly Demon imbued his sturdy fists with combative energy steeped in arrogance and tore the air apart.
Boom! Booooom! Rumble-rumble-rumble!
Every time Glenn’s sword and the Heavenly Demon’s fists collided, thunderous roars that seemed capable of bringing down the world and heavy shockwaves that seemed capable of piercing the soul rang out one after another. The earth itself twisted, and the ground overturned in various places across the Cameloon plain, spewing forth things resembling dark-red lava.
Glenn and the Heavenly Demon swung their sword and fists with their eyes fixed solely on their opponent, as though they cared nothing for the sky breaking apart or the earth collapsing.
Yet the members of the Five Kings Alliance and Eden's demons remaining within the dark-red dimension were still completely unaffected. It meant that the two Absolutes were still controlling their true might.
“A sword that has reached perfection.”
The Heavenly Demon blocked Glenn’s sword strike with his right fist and let out an exclamation of admiration.
“I can feel that you ground your entire life down for this day!”
He exclaimed that it was enough to move him deeply and thrust out a fist that shook the air.
“Dominating Fist.”
Glenn knocked away the Heavenly Demon’s fist and narrowed his eyes.
“What an utterly arrogant fist.”
He too admired the Heavenly Demon’s might, albeit for a different reason, and curled his lips upward.
“Kahahahaha!”
The Heavenly Demon burst into a thunderous laugh and clenched his left fist. Scorching mana. The mana in the air was being sucked into his fist and evaporating.
Fwoooooom!
The Heavenly Demon drove his left fist toward Glenn’s head. His intense combative energy caused the air to boil, and flames billowed thickly through the air. It was like watching a summoning spell that brought hell into the mortal world.
“How long are you going to keep testing the waters?”
Glenn lightly swung his right hand holding Heavenly Tremor, as though shooing away a bird. A single bolt of lightning dwelling within Heavenly Tremor shot out like a flash and seared away the flames the Heavenly Demon had summoned.
“It’s still far from enough!”
The Heavenly Demon fired another fist strike with compressed mana, as though that alone was not enough. The searing mana erupted like an explosion, covering the entire area in dark-red flames.
“That is still not enough.”
Glenn clicked his tongue briefly and slowly raised Heavenly Drive. The instant the blade tip that had been pointing toward the ground pierced the sky, the dark-red flames filling his field of vision were torn apart by a vivid red bolt of lightning.
“As expected of Glenn Zieghart!”
Even though his fist strike had melted away, the Heavenly Demon did not lose the smile hanging at the corner of his mouth.
“The title of Sword God suits you alone!”
He raised his fist with strength concentrated only in his fingertips. The air and mana vibrated, producing a grotesque sound like thousands of people screaming.
“Demon Praise.”
The Heavenly Demon unleashed a fist strike that meant to praise the demon. Along the path of his extending fist, dark-red malice surged across the once-quiet plain. Pitch-black flames erupted across the fields that had remained peaceful for a thousand years, covering heaven and earth. This was no illusion. It was hell made manifest through the Heavenly Demon’s combative energy and fists.
Kwoooooooosh!
Just as the wave of flames formed from combative energy was about to engulf Glenn, Heavenly Tremor was raised majestically.
“Rising Lightning.”
Glenn murmured softly. A terrifying bolt of lightning surged from Heavenly Tremor, which had been raised in a movement so gentle that it would not have caused even a ripple on a calm lake.
Crackle-crackle-crackle!
Beneath the bolt of lightning ascending like a divine dragon, the flames of combative energy that had been reaching toward the sky subsided. Yet the spectacle created by Glenn’s lightning did not end there.
Rrrrrummm!
Dark clouds gathered across the clear sky and called down rain. The flames of combative energy that had been scorching the fields were completely extinguished beneath the rainwater.
Just as the Heavenly Demon had raised a wave of fire with his fists, Glenn summoned a storm with a single sword. The two Absolutes were destroying the boundary between magic and sorcery through martial arts.
Swoooooosh!
This time, Glenn took the initiative. He held Heavenly Tremor in the middle guard position before his lower abdomen, just as he had when he first learned the sword. The middle guard of the warrior known as the Sword God was so fluid that it went beyond beauty, reaching a level of mesmerizing grace, and seemed utterly unshakable by any storm.
“Azure Sky Dance.”
Along with Glenn’s murmur, the tip of Heavenly Tremor moved slightly. It was a movement so subtle that it would have been difficult to notice without watching closely, but its result was entirely different.
Fwoooooom!
The ground where the Heavenly Demon had been standing was carved out in a semicircle, piercing through his combative energy. Judging from the rough cuts around it, the marks looked as though they had been carved out by a gigantic saw blade.
“Interesting!”
The Heavenly Demon had stepped to the left to evade Glenn’s invisible sword strike, but he let out an exclamation of amazement.
“Turn this body into a honeycomb!”
He twisted his lips into a long grin and charged at Glenn, as though urging him to keep using the Azure Sky Sword.
Rrrrrummm!
Flames of combative energy coiled around the Heavenly Demon’s rock-like body. He charged at the speed of light, wrapped in dark-red flames like a meteor falling from space.
Wooooooom!
Glenn moved the tip of his sword once more from the same stance as before. Brilliant radiance poured from the blade of Heavenly Drive, and a bolt of lightning sharp enough to send a chill through the body shot forth.
Kwooooooooom!
The Heavenly Demon’s body, wrapped in flames of combative energy, and Heavenly Drive imbued with true lightning clashed once more, and the light of the world seemed to be sucked into the space between them. Just before the world turned black and white, a terrifying explosion erupted between the Heavenly Demon and Heavenly Drive, shaking heaven and earth.
Crackle-crackle-crackle!
The Heavenly Demon and Glenn clashed sword and fist countless times atop that red river. Each collision sent shockwaves bursting outward, causing pitch-black cracks to repeatedly appear in the air and creating an unreal spectacle.
“Heavenly Lightning Dance.”
Glenn calmly drew a breath and raised Heavenly Drive above his head. The upper guard of the Sword God. The bearing of the warrior who had honed his swordsmanship while gazing only toward the heavens was so sharp that merely looking at it seemed enough to cut the eyes.
“Demonic Bullet Body.”
The Heavenly Demon smiled at the chill emanating from Glenn’s sword and clenched his fist. With his right foot forward and his left hand held beside his head, his unusual stance carried a weight as immense as a towering mountain and an arrogant spirit that seemed to place the world beneath his feet.
Glenn and the Heavenly Demon remained motionless, staring into each other's eyes. They seemed to be waiting for that fleeting moment when they could bring down their opponent.
When the magma exploded once more, sending red sparks flying in all directions, the two Absolutes moved. And then.
The two disappeared simultaneously.
All that remained were the trails of red light left behind by the Heavenly Demon and Glenn.
* * *
“W-what…?”
Krein’s jaw trembled as he stared at the crimson lightning trails lingering thickly in the air.
“W-where did the head of house go?”
Dorian swallowed hard, seemingly unable to understand what had happened.
“I couldn’t see them at all….”
Burren bit his lip, apparently frustrated by the limitations of his own eyesight.
“Are those the warriors who have reached the pinnacle of the Absolute realm? This is absurd….”
Martha shook her head in disbelief at the might that was difficult to believe even while witnessing it firsthand.
“I want to see it again….”
Runaan slowly nodded, apparently sensing more than the others as a Transcender.
“S-Sir Glenn will be alright, right?”
“He's the Sword God! There's no need to worry about him!”
“The Heavenly Demon did look incredibly strong. His fist alone made the ground collapse….”
“But the head of house’s sword was stronger!”
The warriors of the Five Kings Alliance, having witnessed the Heavenly Demon’s overwhelming presence, swallowed nervously, seeming concerned about Glenn.
Zieghart swordsmen, including the Light Wind Palace, however, trusted Glenn completely and never said a word about his safety.
“It was the head of house's choice.”
Raon calmly exhaled as he looked around at the swordsmen whose fists were trembling.
“He cannot reveal his true might here, so the head of house took the Heavenly Demon to another location.”
His voice was quiet and low, but it naturally seeped into the ears of the warriors of the Five Kings Alliance.
“Things are proceeding according to plan, so there is no need to panic.”
Raon calmly nodded as he recalled Glenn’s words telling him to take charge of Zieghart.
“So that when he returns, Zieghart’s flag will be flying here….”
Speaking simultaneously of Glenn's victory and the Five Kings’s victory, Raon looked at the demons of Eden walking out from the open dimensional gate.
“Annihilate the enemies!”
Raon drew Heavenly Drive and issued the supreme command to Zieghart swordsmen.
“We obey!”
The swordsmen drew their swords, shouting that they would follow the young head of house’s orders even at the cost of their lives, and let out a battle cry blazing with fighting spirit.
“Uaaaaaaaah!”
Whether the Beast King had issued the same command or not, a roar powerful enough to shake the earth erupted from the Beast Union as well.
“Hoo….”
True to the Kingdom of Owen being a nation of knights, they calmly raised their sword energy. Greer, the third prince, no, now the king, seemed to have inherited even the spirit of the Silent Sword Sovereign.
“Let’s smash them all to pieces!”
The Magic Kingdom of Balkar, on the other hand, displayed an even stronger fighting spirit. Of course, this was because of Chamber, the archmage of Eternal Flame, and his personality.
“O-our role is support. It’s fine to step forward, but please pay more attention to your surroundings….”
The Magic Tower master Larian trembled as she called out for them to provide support. The mages around her were actually moving much more briskly, casting support magic on the warriors.
Rumble-rumble-rumble!
The Eden demons approached without hesitation, as though this land already belonged to them.
“Hmm….”
Raon slightly narrowed his eyes as he looked at the man standing at the center of Eden wearing a grotesque wooden mask, with the Death Sword Spirit standing behind him.
‘That’s….’
Raon had thought that the Death Sword Spirit, who had been personally taught by the Heavenly Demon, would command Eden in his absence, but an unexpected figure had appeared. However, the energy he sensed from the man in the wooden mask was quite familiar.
‘So it’s that guy.’
That man wearing the wooden mask was undoubtedly the sorcerer who had enabled the Heavenly Demon to descend into the body of the Black Form Snake and had transported Eden’s countless troops here in a single move.
‘I didn’t expect him to be this strong.’
Raon slowly nodded as he looked at the man in the wooden mask. He had expected him to be hiding some special ability, but the energy emanating from him was far beyond what Raon had anticipated. Apparently, he had gone beyond Transcendence and reached the realm of the Absolute.
“That guy is no ordinary man.”
Chamber bit his lip deeply as he looked at the man in the wooden mask.
“W-Where did a monster like that come from…?”
Larian’s jaw trembled as she struggled to comprehend it.
“Now that’s chilling!”
Being a strong warrior himself, Ogram instead slammed his fists together, saying that this looked like fun.
“Pleased to meet you, heroes of the Five Emperors.”
The man wearing the wooden mask placed a hand over his chest in a courteous gesture.
“I am the Secluded Hermit, and I have been entrusted with commanding Eden.”
He introduced himself as the Secluded Hermit, curling his lips beneath the mask.
“I have a proposal for you….”
It was the moment the Secluded Hermit was about to make his proposal.
Snap.
With a chilling sound like a thread being severed, his neck was sliced cleanly through and his head fell to the ground without a drop of blood.
“The war has already begun. All that remains for you is….”
Raon lowered Heavenly Drive, red steam rising from its blade, and arrogantly tilted his chin.
“Destruction.”
