The Reincarnated Assassin is a Genius Swordsman 1344
Chapter 1344
Whoooosh.
The Blue Wolf's tent was gently drawn aside, revealing the face of the person standing behind it. A handsome man with a slender jawline, a sharp nose like a crescent moon, and blue eyes that seemed to hold the sea wore a faint smiled.
“We meet again.”
The handsome man raised a hand, remarking that it had been a while in a flippant tone.
“You….”
Raon frowned as he looked at the man.
“Why aren't you wearing your helmet?”
He had known the man had been standing behind Priest Arne ever since he went to see him. But he had never expected him to reveal his face so openly.
“A helmet? What are you talking about?”
The young man tilted his head, acting as though he had no idea what Raon meant.
“I am….”
“Black Form Snake.”
Calling the young man Black Form Snake, Raon's eyes narrowed to razor-thin slits.
"Drop the amateur act. Your presence... No, the presence all of you carry can't be hidden."
If I had only met the Black Form Snake, I might have been deceived by that act. But I've already encountered energy similar to his four times before, so there's no way I could fail to recognize it.
“T-That person is the Black Form Snake?”
Dorian's jaw dropped as he stared at him.
“Yeah. That cocky attitude is exactly the same.”
Martha let out a derisive snort, saying Raon was right.
“What trick are you trying to pull this time?”
Burren rested a hand on his sword, showing he had no intention of letting his guard down.
“……”
Without saying a word, Runaan entered a fighting stance first, releasing a chilling frost from her shoulders.
“Kahahahahaha!”
The Black Form Snake burst into laughter, clutching his spotless white forehead.
“You're right! You've seen them, and you've met me. Of course you recognized me.”
Still smiling as though apologizing for the discourtesy, he brought his hands together.
“Was this your doing?”
Raon frowned as he kicked Priest Arne, who lay beneath his foot.
“As you can see.”
The Black Form Snake smiled and spread his arms.
“I had my fortune told, and it turned out there was some rather tasty prey here. So I came straight over.”
He twirled a finger in a circle, saying a demon of Eden had told his fortune and led him to the Vikings.
“It never said you'd get in my way. I ought to beat that quack fortune teller senseless.”
The Black Form Snake smacked his lips in brief disappointment.
“But….”
He raised one eyebrow, as though something had piqued his curiosity.
“That wolf.”
The Black Form Snake rubbed his fingers together while looking at Haerang, who stood protectively in front of Raon.
“Did you let it loose from the very beginning because you were aiming for this situation?”
He lightly bit his lip, apparently believing he had been played in the palm of Raon's hand.
“No.”
Raon slowly nodded.
“Haerang was brainwashed by the White Blood Religion, but after I rescued him and gave him a name, he chose to remain in the ocean of his own will. I didn't do anything.”
He gave a faint smile, saying everything had been Haerang's own decision.
“Then….”
The Black Form Snake's jaw trembled in disbelief.
"That's right. Haerang is the one who toyed with all of you."
Raon nodded as he stroked Haerang's mane.
“Haerang could have shattered the collar you made from the priest's blood, and he could have swallowed that idiot priest whole on the spot. Instead, he endured and waited patiently to see just how far all of you would go.”
“Huh? A spirit can think that far ahead?”
The Black Form Snake frowned in disbelief.
"Haerang outplayed you because you never thought that far ahead."
Raon shrugged with a mocking smile.
That, that wolf has grown that much?
Wrath's eyes widened in disbelief.
What in the world did you teach him?!
Unable to understand it, he swallowed dryly.
'I never taught him anything.'
Raon lowered his chin calmly.
'Haerang just watched me from behind and learned on his own.'
After being rescued from the White Blood Religion's brainwashing, Haerang had played a tremendous role in bringing about the White Blood Religion's downfall. Having gone through so many experiences, he seemed to have developed not only the ability to deal with what was right in front of him, but also the patience to look beyond it.
“Well, I do have one complaint.”
Raon lightly frowned as he grasped Haerang's mane.
“If something like this happens, you should tell me beforehand. I don't understand why you tried to handle it all by yourself.”
Haerang was a spirit who wielded absolute power over the ocean, but he was nowhere near strong enough to defeat the Black Form Snake, who had long since attained Transcendence. Raon wished Haerang had at least let him know instead of facing such danger alone.
Kuuuuuu!
Haerang stretched out a front paw slightly, as though he had something to say.
'You wanted to protect my time?'
Haerang shook his head, saying he had sensed Raon was focused on his training, so he decided to handle everything on his own.
'I see.'
‘So that's why I couldn't properly sense Haerang's presence.’
It seems Haerang even hid his presence from me so he wouldn't interrupt my training.
“So I got toyed with by a mere beast. No, a spiritual beast. The world's as interesting as ever. It really is worth living in!”
The Black Form Snake clicked his tongue lightly and shrugged. The irritation that had begun to surface on his lips disappeared beneath his usual frivolous grin.
“I have a question too.”
Raon narrowed his eyes as he looked at the Black Form Snake's neat face.
“Why aren't you wearing your helmet?”
The demons of Eden always wore helmets. He couldn't understand why the Black Form Snack, one of Eden's highest-ranking executives, had chosen to reveal his face.
“Ah, the reason is simple.”
The Black Form Snake waved a hand casually.
“It was hot.”
He grinned broadly, saying he had taken off the helmet because of the heat.
“……”
After hearing the answer, Raon frowned even more deeply.
“Ahahahaha.”
The Black Form Snake chuckled and waved his hand.
“Just kidding. Just kidding.”
Curling his lips into a grin, he said it had only been a little joke.
“The real reason I didn't wear my helmet is because I had no reason to. There's no one here who recognizes me, and there's nothing here I fear.”
The Black Form Snake brushed off his palms, saying he had no reason to hide his true appearance.
"The Heavenly Demon gave orders not to make any moves until the war, didn't he?"
Raon shook his head, recalling what the Heavenly Demon had told him before.
“That's right. I think he did give that order.”
The Black Form Snake nodded calmly.
“But just because it's the leader's order doesn't mean I have to obey it, does it?”
He waved a hand dismissively, saying that even if it was the Heavenly Demon's command, he saw no reason to follow it. He seemed to be exactly the same as when Raon had met him before.
“You….”
Raon turned his chin slightly as he looked into the Black Form Snake's distorted eyes.
“You're utterly obsessed with getting yourself killed.”
He put strength into his fingertips, recalling the name of the Hydra, the strongest monster in mythology that was said to appear when th Black Form Snake died.
“Death isn't such a bad option.”
The Black Form Snake shrugged.
“Death can be another beginning, can't it?”
As though he sensed Raon knew about Hydra, he pointed at his own neck, seemingly telling him to cut it down right then and there.
“……”
Without saying a word, Raon quietly met the Black Form Snake's gaze.
“Hmm?”
Maintaining eye contact with Raon, the Black Form Snake let out a short murmur.
“Don't tell me you know who I am?”
Licking his lips with eyes brimming with madness, he looked as though he were asking whether Raon had uncovered his true identity.
“What if I do?”
Raon gave a calm nod.
“Really? You already knew?”
The Black Form Snake flicked out his long, snake-like tongue.
"I knew you were interesting! No, this situation just got interesting!"
He chuckled, saying he had never expected things to turn out like this.
“So what are you going to do?”
The Black Form Snake spread his long arms and took a step forward.
“Are you going to kill me?”
He smiled with his eyes as he spoke about his own life as though it belonged to someone else.
“For the record….”
The Black Form Snake glanced over his shoulder and slowly curled his lips into a grin.
“To make that collar capable of subduing the wolf, I melted down the lives of about ten of these barbarians. Of course, that bastard handed them over to me.”
He pointed at Priest Arne of the Vikings, who lay collapsed beneath Raon's feet.
“And….”
The moment the Black Form Snake reached out his hand with a sinister smile—
Booooom!
The body of Priest Arne, who lay beneath Raon's foot, burst apart into a spray of black blood.
“W-was his personality like that? When we saw him before, he was definitely...”
Biting his lip, Dorian said he had no idea he would be like that because the Black Form Snake was always going around smiling.
“That bastard is Eden too. An evil man. No, he's nothing less than a monstrous fiend.”
Martha bit her lip, warning everyone never to let themselves grow fond of him.
"That's the death a villain deserves."
Burren lowered his gaze, showing he felt not the slightest sympathy for Arne's death.
“Haa….”
Blue frost spread across the blade of Snow Flower as Runaan looked as though she wanted to fight the Black Form Snake.
But Arne wasn't the only one the Black Form Snake had sentenced to death.
Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!
The bodies of the Vikings who had followed the priest exploded one after another like balloons, making a mockery of their toughness. In an instant, twenty Vikings burst into a black downpour without leaving behind even a fragment of bone, drenching the island.
“Now that the whole prank has been exposed, there's no reason to keep a bunch of useless freeloaders around.”
Calling it a prank rather than a plan, the Black Form Snake massacred every Viking who had followed him and the priest. The place that had once been filled with lush green undergrowth was now flooded with black, lifeless blood.
“Ah….”
“N-No!”
“To condemn warriors to such a vile death!”
“You devil!”
Even the deaths of the comrades they had been opposing moments earlier filled the Vikings with fury, and they raised their weapons. Just as they were about to charge forward, shouting as though they intended to tear the Black Form Snake apart—
“Stop!”
Bjorn rose to his feet and let out a beast-like roar.
“This fight has already passed beyond our hands! Charging that devil now will only get you slaughtered for nothing!”
Grinding his teeth, he declared that fighting the Black Form Snake would bring neither an honorable battle nor an honorable death.
“You're right.”
Raon nodded calmly and stepped forward.
“Leave the trash to me.”
Feeling the unpleasant sensation of sticky blood beneath his feet, he stopped in front of the Black Form Snake.
“You….”
Standing face to face with him, Raon tilted his chin.
“Do you truly wish to die?”
He looked down at the Black Form Snake with utterly arrogant eyes and posture.
Uh...?
Wrath's lips trembled as he looked at Raon's expression.
Y-You can't be...
As though Wrath could already picture what was about to happen, he swallowed dryly.
“What if I do?”
As though certain he would not die, the Black Form Snake slipped a hand into his robe, took out a black snake mask, and put it over his face.
“Good. Then….”
Raon's hand wrapped around Heavenly Drive with the smooth grace of flowing silk.
“Die.”
With those quiet words, the blade of Heavenly Drive slashed across the Black Form Snake's neck.
