The Reincarnated Assassin is a Genius Swordsman 1347
Chapter 1347
Why?!
Wrath threw both of his hands up toward the sky.
Why did this damned world have to give birth to the King of Essence, and that damned bastard too, only to hand everything over to him?!
He had gone beyond cursing the system and was now venting his resentment at the world itself.
'Hah, here we go again.'
Ignoring Wrath, Raon carefully examined the reward messages.
[You have driven back the pinnacle of the continent with your own martial arts.]
[You have accomplished a great feat.]
[All stats have increased by 20 points.]
[The rank of the trait <Celestial Slayer> has increased.]
[The rank of the trait <Crisis Detection> has increased.]
[The rank of the trait <Wrath Release> has increased.]
[The rank of the trait <Authority Amplification> has increased.]
[The rank of the trait <Authority Control> has increased.]
[The rank of the trait <Energy of Death> has increased.]
[The rank of the trait <Flame That Overcomes Death> has increased.]
'Hm?'
Raon narrowed his eyes as he looked at the number of points.
'Traits aside, the points are lower than I thought.'
Even though the Heavenly Demon had only been possessing a body, Raon had still managed to wound him. He hadn't expected the reward to be a mere twenty points. The lower than expected amount made him tilt his head.
Hmph!
Wrath snorted at the look on Raon's face.
Why do you think? It is small because you have grown that much!
He jerked his chin as though it were the most obvious thing in the world.
'Because I've grown?'
That's right.
Wrath raised one of his hands.
If you had wounded the Heavenly Demon as a Transcender, getting several hundred points wouldn't have been strange. But your current realm is Absolute. In other words!
He lightly tapped his forehead with the hand he had raised.
It means that your current self has already drawn close even to that Heavenly Demon.
Wrath lowered his brows, saying that although Raon still could not defeat the Heavenly Demon, he had already climbed the same mountain of martial arts the Heavenly Demon pursued.
'I see.'
A faint smile spread across Raon's face as he looked at the points.
'Hearing that, I feel good even though the points are low.'
He felt good even though he saw points lower than usual because it felt like his current realm received acknowledgment not only from the Heavenly Demon, but also from the system.
Hmph! You'd better enjoy smiling while you still can.
Wrath slowly smacked his lips.
Now that the damned system has finally found its conscience, so you will not obtain points easily in the future...
'It's fine.'
Raon shook his head firmly.
'There are still things I haven't checked yet.'
[You have overcome an extreme situation.]
[You have accomplished a great feat.]
[All stats have increased by 50 points.]
[A new trait <Energy of Death> has been created.]
[The rank of the trait <Energy of Death> has increased.]
[The rank of the trait <Ascara's Combative Energy> has increased.]
[The rank of the trait <Crisis Detection> has increased.]
[The rank of the trait <Soul Transfer Transformation> has increased.]
[The rank of the trait <Heart Sword> has increased.]
[The rank of the trait <Blood Path> has increased.]
[The rank of the trait <Energy of Death Detection> has increased.]
[The rank of the trait <Flame That Overcomes Death> has increased.]
Huh...
Wrath's jaw dropped as he stared at the reward messages.
T-This is...!
'These are the rewards I got after you put me through hell in my mental world.'
Raon grinned.
'I was so shocked by the <Energy of Death> trait that I completely forgot to check the rest of the rewards until now.'
The rewards floating before him now were the ones he had never checked after waking up from the mental world.
'I'd forgotten about them. Thanks.'
Raon smiled brightly and gave Wrath a wave.
Grrrgh!
Wrath's head turned red again as his anger flared back up.
You damned bastard!
'I guess twenty points really was on the low side. Getting another fifty points definitely makes me feel stronger.'
My total stats were already so high that the twenty-point increase hadn't felt particularly significant. But after receiving another fifty points, I could distinctly feel both my body and soul changing.
'Looking at the traits, <Energy of Death> immediately reached 2-Star, and <Flame That Overcomes Death> ranked up as well.'
It seemed that dying so many times in the mental world had truly had a tremendous impact. At this rate, I felt like I could go back there one more time and fight Wrath again.
The King of Essence absolutely refuses! Absolutely!
Wrath shook his head decisively, declaring that he would never help again.
'Fine by me.'
Raon chuckled and waved his hand.
'Besides, I don't have time for that anymore.'
The war against Eden was truly right around the corner. At such a crucial time, when I had to manage both myself and the Light Wind Palace, I couldn't afford to do something so reckless when there was no telling when I would wake up.
'But...'
Raon narrowed his eyes as he raised the Energy of Death above his palm.
'Why did the rank of Energy of Death increase?'
Today, I hadn't killed anyone, hadn't been killed myself, and hadn't even used the Energy of Death. Yet, strangely enough, its rank had increased. It had already reached 3-Star.
Huh? You're right.
Wrath's eyes widened into circles.
That pathetic priest bastard was killed by that snake bastard, wasn't he?!
He shook his head as well, unable to understand it.
'Death... Energy of Death...'
Raon lowered his brows as he stared at the Energy of Death, now burning far more intensely than before.
'Don't tell me...?'
* * *
"Kurgh!"
The Black Form Snake dropped to his knees and coughed up a stream of dark crimson liquid.
"Gaaaah!"
Clutching his chest, he let out a scream as though enduring unbearable agony.
“H-Hey, that's not what we agreed on!”
Groaning deeply, the Black Form Snake ground his teeth.
“Y-You! You deliberately let yourself be struck by Raon Zieghart's sword...”
"That is not the case."
A low voice, so heavy it felt capable of crushing one's very soul, descended from above his head.
Ruuuumble.
The Heavenly Demon. The pinnacle of martial arts, the being the world had bestowed with the title of Demon Who ascended to the heavens, firmly shook his head.
"Raon Zieghart's sword unquestionably reached me."
The Heavenly Demon calmly lowered his chin, saying that even if it had been his true body, he would have been wounded.
“I-Is that really true?”
As though he had never expected such an answer, the Black Form Snake stared with wide eyes despite the pain that felt as though his flesh were being torn apart.
"It is."
Though he was acknowledged as the pinnacle of the continent, the Heavenly Demon frankly admitted that Raon had managed to wound him.
“The current Raon Zieghart is no longer the child you saw here before. He has become a swordsman who fully deserves the title of Sword Immortal.”
He slowly closed and reopened his eyes, saying that Raon had become a powerful warrior worthy even of his own recognition.
"..."
The Black Form Snake lowered his head to the ground again, exhaling weakly.
“T-That's impossible. It hasn't even been that long since Raon Zieghart came to Eden...”
Even after hearing the Heavenly Demon's words, he bit his lip hard, unable to believe them.
“A warrior is someone who can change overnight. It's a common thing for someone I defeated yesterday to defeat me today.”
The Heavenly Demon shook his head, saying Raon's change was not that strange.
“But someone like you, who makes no effort and only seeks to mock the world with nothing but your inborn might, would never understand.”
Without even blinking, he spoke as though it were only natural that the Black Form Snake could not comprehend Raon's growth.
“Ugh…”
The Black Form Snake bit his lip as though the Heavenly Demon's reproach had pierced his heart.
“You said you would still be alive after the war ended, didn't you?”
Recalling what the Black Form Snake had said before, the Heavenly Demon slowly closed and reopened his eyes.
“In your current state, you will never survive. The Hydra will be unleashed in your place and run rampant. Of course, you won't live to see it.”
He gave a quiet nod, as though he were already envisioning the Black Form Snake’s death and the Hydra being unleashed.
“B-But surely the great Heavenly Demon has no need for the Hydra's power! Besides, your duel to the death with the Destructive King of the North has already been arranged...”
Desperate to survive, the Black Form Snake raised a trembling hand.
“You're right. I have no need for either your power or the Hydra's savagery. However...”
The Heavenly Demon looked into the Black Form Snake's trembling eyes and firmly shook his head.
“I cannot permit anyone to be absent from the war. For the sake of the God of Destruction, every last member of Eden must take part in it.”
“Urgh...”
Realizing that his last chance had vanished, the Black Form Snake bit down deeply on his lip.
“I kept my promise by sparing your life.”
The Heavenly Demon turned his back as he looked at the wound in the Black Form Snake's chest, which was slowly healing.
“Struggle as much as you can before the war. Though there isn't much time left.”
Leaving those words, he descended the hill where the entire view of Eden was visible.
Boom!
The Black Form Snake slammed his fist into the ground with all the strength he had left.
“F-Fine. Just you wait.”
Twisting his bloodstained lips into a grim smile, he lifted his chin.
“I'll show you who survives to the very end!”
* * *
“They've definitely changed.”
Bjorn, the Viking chief, let out a breath as he watched the sparring arena.
“Our warriors seem to have learned to fight more intelligently after sparring with the Light Wind swordsmen.”
He smiled with satisfaction as he observed how much his warriors had changed over the past week.
“Our swordsmen benefited greatly from sparring with your warriors as well.”
Raon nodded in agreement.
“The Light Wind swordsmen also learned how to fight opponents with greater stamina and larger physiques.”
Although the Light Wind swordsmen possessed superior martial skill, the Viking warriors had the advantage in physique and stamina. Since they had little time, neither side focused on covering their own weaknesses. Instead, they honed their strengths even further through their sparring, and both sides achieved remarkable progress.
'At this rate...'
Watching the movements of the Light Wind swordsmen, Raon curled his lips into a faint smile.
'They'll be able to hold their own against the celestials.'
The celestials were a race blessed with physical strength and physiques far beyond those of humans. On top of that, they wielded divine power to use mysterious abilities, making them extremely difficult for ordinary swordsmen to face.
However, the Light Wind swordsmen had endured countless trials under my guidance, and after sparring with the Viking warriors, they had learned how to fight opponents with overwhelming size and stamina. They were now fully capable of standing against the celestials.
They've changed this much in just one week. They've truly grown.
Wrath smiled faintly as he watched the Light Wind swordsmen.
Then again, they survived your hellish training. He supposes this was only to be expected.
He nodded, saying that anyone capable of enduring Raon's exhaustion training was bound to achieve this kind of growth.
'No. Everyone worked hard.'
Even though the Viking warriors were weaker than they were, the Light Wind swordsmen never let their guard down and always gave their all. Despite suppressing their own strength at my order, they constantly looked for an opening. Watching them fight like that, I was certain they would fulfill their roles in the coming war.
“We'll be taking our leave now.”
Raon rose from his seat as he looked at Dorian and Knut, who had just finished the final spar.
“Y-You're leaving already?”
Bjorn let out a low groan as he stood up.
“We were planning to hold a festival tomorrow…”
He bit his lip, clearly disappointed that they were leaving before the festival preparations were even complete.
“It's unfortunate, but we don't have much time left.”
Raon let out a quiet breath as he looked up at the darkening sky. A festival sounded wonderful, but preparing for the war came first.
Didn't he say they'd already prepared everything? It's only polite to at least have a taste before you leave!
Wrath grabbed Raon's shoulder, sounding deeply disappointed.
'He didn't even mention food.'
Raon snorted, telling Wrath to stop pretending he cared about Bjorn.
Ghk...
Wrath let out a pained groan, as though Raon had struck a nerve.
“Next time. After the war is over, I'll be sure to join the festival.”
Raon smiled brightly as he spoke of after the war.
"Haa, if so, it cannot be helped."
Sensing that Raon's words meant they would meet again alive after the war, Bjorn gave a heavy nod.
“However, there is something I would very much like you to see, Sir Raon.”
Lowering his brows, he said he had originally intended to bring it up after the festival.
“Something you want me to see?”
Raon tilted his head. He had absolutely no idea what Bjorn was referring to.
“Yes. The golden flames and swordsmanship you displayed, Sir Raon.”
Bjorn lowered his chin solemnly as he looked at Heavenly Drive hanging at Raon's waist.
“They're here on this island as well.”
