The Reincarnated Assassin is a Genius Swordsman 1345
Chapter 1345
Just as Raon unleashed his draw sword technique in one fluid motion, it was about to tear through the Black Form Snake's throat.
Fwoooosh!
The Black Form Snake hastily retreated, avoiding Heavenly Drive's blade by the width of a sheet of paper.
“Waa...”
He let out a gasp as he looked at Raon.
“I didn't think you'd actually try to kill me.”
The Black Form Snake exhaled sharply, saying he hadn't expected Raon to aim for his throat right from the start.
“Hah!”
Martha scoffed at the sight.
“You said you wanted to die, and now you're running off without even tucking your tail?”
She waved her hand, saying she had seen through him from the moment he started acting tough.
“I really didn't expect you to try to kill me.”
The Black Form Snake rubbed his chest, saying he was still covered in goosebumps.
“Looks like your palace master’s got one hell of a nerve.”
He rubbed his fingers together as though a great deal depended on keeping himself alive.
“So he was nothing but bluster.”
Burren frowned, looking irritated just by the sight of the Black Form Snake.
“Haa...”
Runaan gripped the Snow Flower Sword tightly, looking as though she wanted to fight the Black Form Snake herself.
“That movement...”
Raon recalled the movement the Black Form Snake had used to narrowly evade Heavenly Drive and parted his lips.
“The Heavenly Demon?”
He had swung his sword with absolute certainty that the Black Form Snake could not evade it, yet the man escaped his strike with movements astonishingly similar to the Heavenly Demon's. No matter how he thought about it, it could only have been the Heavenly Demon's footwork.
“Huh?”
The Black Form Snake's jaw dropped in disbelief.
"You deduced that it was the Heavenly Demon's footwork just by seeing me take a single step backward?"
He let out a hollow laugh, saying it made no sense.
“Because I've seen the Heavenly Demon's movements before.”
Raon nodded, saying the movement carried the Heavenly Demon's signature.
“You've got to be kidding me. That's right. The footwork I just used was the Heavenly Demon's.”
The Black Form Snake nodded, confirming that he had indeed used the Heavenly Demon's footwork.
“Were you also the Heavenly Demon's disciple?”
Raon narrowed his eyes as he examined the Black Form Snake’s presence, which felt completely opposite to the Heavenly Demon's nature.
“Ah, no.”
The Black Form Snake shook his head firmly.
“We're just in a relationship where we each have something the other wants.”
He smiled faintly, saying that, in his own way, he still respected the Heavenly Demon.
"But you're seriously insane. You identified the Heavenly Demon's footwork after seeing my movement just once. You haven't even properly witnessed the Heavenly Demon's martial arts."
The Black Form Snake tilted his head, unable to comprehend Raon's powers of observation.
“I simply saw it.”
Raon shook his head as though it were nothing worth mentioning.
“Anyone who reaches the Absolute realm can do as much.”
He wasn't being modest. That was genuinely what he believed.
T-The King of Essence didn’t notice…
Wrath scratched his cheek, admitting that it had never even occurred to him that those movements belonged to the Heavenly Demon.
“Since I answered that I used the Heavenly Demon's footwork, I also have one thing I want to ask you.”
The Black Form Snake clicked his tongue and tilted his chin.
“You were really trying to kill me...”
He smiled as he touched the spot on his neck where Raon's sword had lightly grazed him.
“What were you planning to do after that?”
The Black Form Snake shrugged, as though asking whether Raon could handle the worst monster of all, the Hydra, that would emerge after his death.
“The Hydra?”
Raon sneered as he looked into the Black Form Snake's twisted eyes.
“Why should I care about something like that?”
He lifted his chin with complete confidence, saying something like the Hydra would have no effect on him.
“Hah? Kahahahahaha!”
The Black Form Snake burst into mad laughter while grabbing the black snake helmet he was wearing on his head.
“You are serious! You are a complete madman! You are incredibly arrogant!”
He drew a sharp breath, saying he sensed even greater madness from Raon than from himself.
Haaaaa....
Wrath let out a long sigh.
On that point, even the King of Essence agrees.
He shook his head, saying that even in devildom, there had been no one as crazy as Raon.
“Ah, this wasn't part of the plan. Things have gotten seriously complicated.”
Unlike his words that things got complicated, the Black Form Snake did not erase his smile.
"I was planning to bluff my way through and make my escape, but that clearly didn't work."
He smacked his lips, saying he needed to think about how he was going to escape.
“I knew it! He never intended to die in the first place!”
Martha wrinkled her nose, saying she'd known it all along.
“He's exactly what he looks like, nothing but bluster and cheap tricks.”
Burren clenched his fist, looking as though he felt nothing but disgust toward the Black Form Snake.
“I have my own circumstances too.”
The Black Form Snake waved his hand, telling them not to think too badly of him.
“I'm still a Transcender, after all, so I'll do everything I can to run!”
Declaring that he would flee with everything he had, he drew the sword at his waist. It was a strange blade, its edge gleaming like a black serpent.
“Huuuuu.”
The Black Form Snake casually loosened up as though inviting them to chase him, then crushed the ground beneath his feet and shot toward the sea.
Baaang!
Without looking back even once, he dashed across the surface of the sea with terrifying speed, his footwork carrying him farther and farther away.
“W-What? He's really running away right away?”
“A Transcender is actually...!”
“Ughh...”
Martha, Burren, and even Runaan widened their eyes in surprise.
“A-Aren't you going after him?”
Krein stamped his feet, saying they needed to chase the Black Form Snake immediately.
“No.”
Raon firmly shook his head.
“He's right here.”
Closing his eyes, he brought Heavenly Drive down toward empty air.
Slaaash!
The space where Heavenly Drive fell split apart, revealing the Black Form Snake hidden behind it, his chest ripped wide open.
“Kuaaaak!”
The Black Form Snake let out a pained scream as he clutched his chest, blood dripping between his fingers.
“H-How...”
He swallowed dryly, unable to understand how Raon had found him.
“I fought the Fallen, who could be called the progenitor of sorcery, and the White Blood Religion’s leader. And yet you dared use such crude sorcery in front of me....”
Raon let out a scoff as he looked at the Black Form Snake.
“You are the one who is incredibly arrogant.”
The Black Form Snake had used a sorcery that made it appear as though he had fled toward the sea while concealing his true body behind space itself. It might have fooled everyone else, but it would never fool Raon's eyes.
“Ha! This turned out pretty damn terrible.”
The Black Form Snake let out a hollow laugh and licked the blood from his lips.
“Fine! From here on, I'll fight you properly.”
As though he had no other choice, he raised his sword in front of his chest.
“You'll fight?”
Raon tilted his chin.
“Whether you fight or run, the outcome has already been decided.”
He raised Heavenly Drive, stating he can kill the Black Form Snake no matter what he does.
"Raon Zieghart. Your eyes and your sword have become utterly arrogant."
The Black Form Snake’s jaw trembled as though overwhelmed by the imposing presence emanating from Raon and his sword.
“Not Sword Immortal, those eyes deserve the title of Tyrant!”
Bestowing the title of Tyrant upon Raon, he kicked off the ground.
Are you really planning to kill him?
Wrath frowned with concern.
When that Hydra appears...
‘Better for it to appear now than in the middle of the war.’
Raon tightened his fingers around his sword, saying that once the Hydra appeared, he would simply cut off every one of its heads.
“Good! Then kill me!”
Shouting for Raon to go ahead and kill him, the Black Form Snake thrust his sword toward Raon's throat, his eyes clearly held another scheme.
“Don't worry.”
With nothing more than a slight turn of his shoulder, Raon effortlessly diverted the Black Form’s strike. Then, without the slightest hesitation, he swept Heavenly Drive forward.
KWAAAAAA!
An absolute sword strike that left the Black Form Snake with absolutely no chance to react. The ultimate technique of the Ten Thousand Flames Cultivation, powerful enough to split the entire island apart, descended with the solemn majesty of a tidal wave bathed in the crimson glow of sunset.
“Beautiful.”
The Black Form Snake slowly curled his lips into a smile as he watched Raon's sword bring death upon him.
“Yes. At this level...”
He curled his lips up high as if there is still a chance, and crushed the black snake helmet he was wearing on his face with his own hand.
Craaack!
The moment the jaw part of the snake helmet the Black Form Snake was wearing shattered, a terrifying energy wave erupted from his grip holding the helmet fragments.
Craaaaaack!
The crimson-black energy wave wrapped itself around the Black Form Snake and completely blocked Raon's overwhelming descending sword strike.
“The Heavenly Demon....”
Raon slightly turned his chin as he looked at the Black Form Snake, now shrouded in crimson-black currents.
“It seems he values you quite highly.”
The black current that had blocked his sword belonged to the Heavenly Demon. It felt as though the Heavenly Demon himself was watching this place.
“It isn't because he values me... Gah!”
The Black Form Snake smiled in relief at having survived, then suddenly let out a pained groan and clutched his head.
“Y-You're coming personally? What an honor... Aaah.”
His frivolous voice abruptly changed, and a heavy voice emerged, so deep it could sink no lower.
“Raon Zieghart.”
Raon's name came from the Black Form Snake's mouth.
But it was not the Black Form Snake who spoke it.
“Heavenly Demon...”
Raon bit his lip as he uttered the title, Heavenly Demon. The overwhelming presence the Black Form Snake now exuded was something no ordinary person could ever produce.
‘To radiate this much energy merely through a sorcerous connection....’
The Heavenly Demon was merely speaking through the Black Form Snake's body, yet chills spread across Raon's entire body, and it felt as though his heart were being crushed. The Heavenly Demon truly deserved his reputation as the pinnacle of the continent.
Hmph! He is still beneath the King of Essence!
Wrath snorted, saying that had it been him, he would have appeared far more imposing than the Heavenly Demon.
“Why are you interfering?”
Raon tilted his chin toward the Heavenly Demon speaking through the Black Form Snake's body.
“Since you let him roam free, doesn't that mean you don't care whether he lives or dies?”
Raon frowned, saying that since the Heavenly Demon had let the Black Form Snake roam free, he should stay out of it.
“I don't care whether he lives or dies.”
The Heavenly Demon calmly nodded as though the Black Form Snake's death meant nothing to him.
“Then why...”
"Because the Black Form Snake and I are bound by a pact."
He narrowed his eyes, saying that he was bound by a pact with the Black Form Snake that had to be honored. Apparently, the Black Form Snake shattering his own helmet had been the signal.
“So you saved him?”
Raon frowned at the Heavenly Demon speaking through the Black Form Snake's body.
“This situation is different from the previous one.”
The Heavenly Demon lowered his hand and brushed over the Black Form Snake's wound, which was still bleeding.
“This island does not belong to your side, so there is no price for me to pay.”
He slowly shook his head, as though there was no issue with his intervention.
“That's true.”
Raon briefly smacked his lips, acknowledging the Heavenly Demon's words.
“So instead, are you planning to kill me?”
Even though this was not the Heavenly Demon's body, he was still radiating an energy wave equal to Raon's own. If he became serious, both Raon and the Light Wind swordsmen would inevitably be in danger.
“...”
Instead of answering immediately, the Heavenly Demon slowly looked around.
“No. I only intend to take the Black Form Snake and leave.”
As he lowered his hand, saying he would simply leave without doing anything else, a crimson-black gate opened behind him. It appeared to be a dimensional gate leading to Eden.
“I never expected the Heavenly Demon, known as the pinnacle of martial arts, to be skilled in sorcery as well.”
Raon let out a scoff as he looked at the dimensional gate leading to Eden.
“This is not my sorcery.”
The Heavenly Demon firmly shook his head, saying that neither opening the dimensional gate nor manifesting through the Black Form Snake had been accomplished through his own sorcery. True to the Heavenly Demon's nature, he did not even bother concealing the existence of a sorcerer capable of wielding sorcery on the level of a Transcender.
“The next time we meet, it will be on the battlefield.”
After confirming that the dimensional gate had fully opened, the Heavenly Demon nodded.
“No.”
As the Heavenly Demon was about to step into the gate, Raon sheathed Heavenly Drive.
“You'll fall beneath my grandfather's sword, so we will never meet again.”
He shook his head, declaring that Glenn would defeat the Heavenly Demon.
“Is that so.”
The Heavenly Demon answered calmly.
The moment both of his feet stepped into the dimensional gate, Raon took one step forward with his left foot.
“You said you wouldn't kill me...”
Gripping Heavenly Drive in its scabbard, Raon lowered his waist.
“But I have no intention of letting the Black Form Snake leave here alive.”
Declaring the Black Form Snake's death, he drew Heavenly Drive. The silver blade shimmered as it drove light and space to their very limits. Karoon's drawing sword technique. The sword technique that had once caught him off guard shot toward the Black Form Snake's chest.
BOOOOOOM!
In a fleeting instant, the silver sword strike that pierced through space-time ultimately tore a black hole through the chest of the Black Form Snake, who housed the Heavenly Demon's soul, before the Heavenly Demon could react.
Wooooong!
Because the Heavenly Demon had already stepped into the dimensional gate, his lower body had already been drawn into the dimension, while blood erupted from his upper body like a fountain.
“It is an excellent sword.”
Despite having been struck by Raon, the Heavenly Demon sincerely praised his sword technique.
“From declaring that you would kill the Black Form Snake before my eyes to that drawing sword technique just now. Not a single part was lacking.”
He let out a heartfelt exclamation, saying he was truly impressed with Raon.
"Before, it seemed you didn't even know what pride was, but now it seems you've found the path."
The Heavenly Demon nodded, as though he had never expected Raon to grow this strong so quickly.
"What a pity. Your sword certainly struck true, but as long as I reside within the Black Form Snake's body, I cannot die."
A faint smile touched his lips, as though he would have gladly accepted death had it been possible, in acknowledgment of Raon's extraordinary sword strike.
"The next time we meet, we will truly face each other."
Closing his eyes calmly as though saying they would meet again, the Heavenly Demon stepped into the crimson-black dimensional gate.
“Urgh!”
Raon bent over as he exhaled a heavy breath.
'Just facing the Heavenly Demon's soul is enough to make me dizzy.'
Perhaps because I had attacked the Heavenly Demon in earnest, my entire body was drenched in sweat despite not having truly fought. As expected, the pinnacle of the continent exists on an entirely different level.
C-crazy bastard!
Wrath came down and repeatedly smacked Raon's shoulder.
W-When in the world did you master that sword?!
He screamed, demanding to know how Raon had managed to use Karoon's sword technique.
'I kept practicing it.'
Karoon's draw sword technique had left such a deep impression on me that I had practiced it day and night, even sacrificing sleep, until I made it my own. Seeing that it had worked even against the Heavenly Demon despite him not being in his true body, it seemed I had brought the technique to a respectable level.
Trying to make that technique your own... You're truly beyond reason!
Wrath shook his head in disbelief.
You are the very embodiment of pride…
It was the first time he had seen him as the embodiment of pride.
[The trait <Pride> has been unlocked.]
A system message appeared before Raon's eyes, announcing that <Pride> had been unlocked.
