The Reincarnated Assassin is a Genius Swordsman 1370

Chapter 1370

“First Artillery Unit, prepare to fire!”

At Princess Jaina’s shout, the Balkar mages formed ranks and raised their staffs.

“First Artillery Unit, fire!”

At her ensuing order to fire, the mages gathered mana toward the sky. The mana they had accumulated resonated with the magic circles suspended in the air, unleashing a magical bombardment upon the enemies before them.

Kwagwagwagwagwagwang!

The monsters charging toward Owen’s knights were reduced to black ash and crumbled beneath the bombardment of blazing flames, blade-like freezing cold, and swirling wind.

“Trust Balkar and keep moving forward!”

Owen’s king, Greer, ran forward with his sword raised. Following him, Borini Kitten and the Silver Knights leaped into the blood-soaked battlefield, emitting sharp energy waves.

“Kieeeeeek!”

“Kiaaaaaaaa!”

Under the perfect coordination between the mages and knights, the monsters were literally crushed into a pulp and melted away. It looked as though an eraser were cleanly wiping away a sheet of paper covered in black scribbles.

“Second Artillery Unit, prepare to fire!”

Seeing her prepared tactic working, Jaina nodded and prepared the second bombardment.

“Second Artillery Unit, fire!”

The moment she gave the order to the Second Artillery Unit and the mages prepared powerful offensive magic and sent it raining down upon the monsters—

Pwooooooong!

A transparent light flashed in midair, and the magic that had been fired at the monsters was reflected back toward the mages.

“Artillery Units, retreat!”

Jaina hurriedly ordered a retreat, but it was already too late. The spells were reflected back at twice the speed at which they had been fired and came crashing down upon the mages.

Kuwaaaaaaa!

The mages had high magic resistance, and Jaina used defensive magic to prevent them from being wiped out like the monsters. Even so, the bombardment had such enormous range and power that it caused a great number of casualties.

"Don't tell me..."

Jaina narrowed her eyes as she looked at the barrier sparkling like a mirror in the air.

“Mirror Sheep?”

She bit her lip with an expression that showed she had not expected this at all.

“That’s right.”

Accompanied by a bizarre laugh like fingernails scraping against metal, a woman wearing a sheep mask walked forward, leaning on a staff of the sort a shepherd might use. Behind her were sheep whose wool shimmered like mirrors, each of their eyes set with a different gemstone.

‘Of all things….’

Jaina bit her lip as she looked at the woman wearing the sheep mask and the sheep behind her.

‘Mirror Sheep!’

Aside from one thing, Mirror Sheep were no different from ordinary sheep to the point that there was hardly any reason to call them monsters.

That one difference, however, was enormous. Magic reflection. Depending on the color of their eyes, Mirror Sheep possessed the special ability to reflect magic of different attributes.

Of course, they were normally harmless monsters because they were weak enough for a mage to beat them to death with a staff. But a large-scale war was different. With those sheep there, they could no longer use the magical bombardments they had prepared or any large-scale magic.

“Go ahead and fire as much as you like.”

The woman wearing the Mirror Sheep mask crooked a finger.

“My children will reflect every last one of them.”

She smiled with her eyes sparkling in various colors as if showing she would reflect any kind of magic.

“Tsk.”

Jaina clicked her tongue. The Mirror Sheep were troublesome enough, but the woman wearing that sheep mask was no ordinary opponent either. She was by no means beneath Jaina.

“I suppose I’ll have to ask for your assistance.”

Even though she was flustered, Jaina hardened her expression, raised a hand, and signaled to the people in front of her.

“There’s no need to worry.”

Greer changed the direction in which he had been advancing toward the left.

“We’ll handle them!”

He charged toward the direction where the Mirror Sheep were, accompanied by the knights.

However, Greer and the knights could not approach the Mirror Sheep directly.

Kugugugugugugugu!

A warrior wearing a Black Orc helmet blocked their path. He did not appear to have inherited the strength of an ordinary orc. Instead, he wore a crown made of human bones atop his head and carried a massive spear covered in blood over his shoulder.

“Hmm….”

Greer’s lips trembled slightly as he looked at the warrior wearing the Black Orc helmet.

‘He’s no ordinary opponent.’

Ordinary orcs used simple weapons such as swords and axes. Despite wielding a difficult weapon like a spear, he possessed such formidable combative energy that he was clearly a powerful warrior.

“I am Black Demon Wolf.”

The man wearing the Black Orc King’s helmet raised the spear, from which a dreadful stench of blood arose, and pointed it at Greer.

“Your Majesty! I’ll fight him!”

Borini Kitten, commander of the Silver Knights, bit his lip and stepped forward.

“No.”

Greer calmly raised a hand and pushed Borini Kitten back.

“The one over there is a king as well, so this is my place.”

He pointed his sword at the Black Demon Wolf, declaring that he would fight him king against king.

"An excellent attitude."

Black Demon Wolf nodded as though he liked Greer’s fighting spirit.

“I am Greer de Owen.”

Greer likewise gave his own name and met Black Demon Wolf’s eyes.

Gooooooooo!

The two kings stared into each other’s eyes before simultaneously kicking off the ground. Crimson-black combative energy and blue aura collided, and behind that intense flash of light, the Black Orcs and knights clashed.

“Oh my?”

The woman wearing the Mirror Sheep mask crooked a finger.

“Looks like your boyfriend can’t come over?”

She shrugged as though asking what Jaina intended to do.

“Can’t be helped. Just die right there.”

At the Mirror Sheep woman’s gesture, the large monsters on the right moved toward the mages.

“Kueeeeeee!”

An ogre flashed its beast-like eyes and brought down a massive wooden club toward the mages.

“Sorry, but I don’t have a boyfriend.”

Jaina rolled up the sleeves of her loose robe as blue mana coiled around her hand.

Pwooooooong!

With a seemingly feeble punch from Jaina, who had equipped a mana gauntlet, the Ogre that had been about to bring down its wooden club burst apart like an explosion. It was a combat magic technique that wrapped space magic around the mana gauntlet.

“Other than him….”

Jaina lightly shook off the blood of the ogre from her hand and looked down at the woman wearing the Mirror Sheep mask.

“No one catches my eye!”

With her fist raised as though she intended to beat the Mirror Sheep to death herself, she charged toward them.

‘The battle situation….’

Raon narrowed his eyes as he surveyed the entirety of the Cameloon Plains.

‘It’s not good.’

Unlike at the beginning, when we had overwhelmingly driven back the enemy, fierce, evenly matched battles are now breaking out all across the battlefield. There are too many small-scale engagements, and whether we win or lose, the casualties are bound to be heavy.

‘I eliminated the Secluded Hermit to prevent this situation….’

It has become meaningless.

The moment I realized that the Secluded Hermit was the enemy commander, I immediately eliminated him and made him lose command. But with the Death Sword Spirit taking his place, Eden’s demons are moving with greater fluidity than I expected. Even if we win the war like this, it looks like the casualties will be heavy.

‘I should stop pursuing the Secluded Hermit now.’

No matter how well the Secluded Hermit commands, he doesn’t seem to be any better than the Death Sword Spirit. It would be better to let the Secluded Hermit go and have him take command again.

‘It’s also a waste of energy to keep killing the Secluded Hermit.’

Since the war began, I’ve killed the Secluded Hermit more than ten times, but he keeps resurrecting and fleeing. Just as he said at the beginning, it seems he can resurrect almost endlessly.

If this were truly a battle that would end by killing the Secluded Hermit alone, then continuing to pursue him would be the right choice, but my enemy and the Light Wind’s enemy is someone else.

‘The celestials.’

Raon lightly bit his lip as he looked at the darkening sky.

‘The celestials still haven’t appeared.’

The Five Kings’ strategists had anticipated that the archangels and the celestials would likely participate in the war from the very beginning alongside Eden, but they still had not appeared. They were clearly watching the situation here and waiting for the right moment.

‘I need to conserve my strength as well.’

Since it’s right to conserve my stamina and mental strength from now on so that I can focus all my strength on the archangels and the celestials when they appear, I won’t kill the Secluded Hermit with the Heart Sword anymore

“Eek!”

The Secluded Hermit fled as soon as he resurrected and hid among the monsters, but Raon could clearly sense his presence through his aura perception.

“I’ll find the Death Sword Spirit and make sure to kill her.”

Karoon also seemed to sense that the Death Sword Spirit was responsible for creating this situation, and he bowed his head to Raon.

“…I trust you.”

Just as Karoon had trusted him, Raon nodded and told him that he trusted him instead of telling him to be careful.

“Yes.”

Karoon respectfully bowed and led the Central Martial Palace swordsmen into the battlefield, where blood flowed like a river.

“Hmm….”

Burren repeatedly bit his lip, seemingly wanting to follow Karoon.

“How, how much longer do we have to wait?”

Martha ground her teeth and shook her leg, distressed by the people dying around them.

“…”

Runaan closed her eyes as though determined to endure until the end, but she could not completely hide her impatience, continuously moving her fingertips.

“I-I’m even more nervous because we’re n-not fighting….”

Dorian repeatedly beat his own chest with his fist, saying his insides hurt to death.

"You will vomit blood doing that!"

Krein struck Dorian on the back of the head and shook his head.

“If our king told us to wait, then just wait calmly!”

Krein, who normally showed the most carefree side of himself, nodded today with an expression of absolute trust in Raon.

“I’m frustrated too, but waiting is the right thing to do.”

Trevin, the leader of the Warring Steel Division, snorted as he declared his trust in Raon.

"I am sorry, but it is not our time to step up yet. Just a little more..."

Raon was about to nod at them and tell them to wait a little longer when—

Kuwaaaaaaang!

There was a faction that instantly turned the frustrating battle situation around.

The Beast Union. The tribes that worshipped nothing but strength were pushing forward, smashing everything with their fists as though it did not matter what abilities Eden used.

“Is there no one stronger!”

In particular, Beast King Ogram, seemingly having trained himself relentlessly after being defeated by the White Blood Religion’s leader, was unleashing punches far more ferocious than before, literally slaughtering the enemies before him.

“Raon! I’ll open the way for you!”

As though proving his claim that he would open the way, he blew apart both Eden’s demons and special monsters with a single strike each.

“Follow the Beast Union!”

“There’s an opening! Target the left!”

“We’re charging from the west!”

Thanks to Ogram and the Beast Union’s explosive advance, the other factions were able to breathe more freely as well.

Whoa!

Wrath let out an exclamation as he looked at Ogram.

Ordinarily, a bird whose wings have been broken can never fly again, yet that geezer is flying even higher.

He clapped his round hands, calling him an extraordinary human.

‘He is. Quite an extraordinary man.’

Raon was nodding broadly in agreement with Wrath when—

“Habun Castle! Charge!”

“Charge!”

At the shout of Milland, castellan of Habun Castle, the cavalry guarding the northern wall began to move. Man and horse as one. The sharp charge of the knights who had become one with their horses split the wave of monsters apart once again.

“This much is nothing compared to Winter Castle!”

“That’s right! The Sword Immortal overcame waves like this when he was still a trainee!”

“We’re here too!”

The knights and scouts of Habun Castle charged forward like enormous spears, cleaving through countless monsters. Fighting monsters every year was their occupation, so they were more vigorous than anyone else on this battlefield.

Hwaaaaaaa.

As the monsters died and the foul stench of blood rose into the air, the acrid smell of cigar smoke drove away the stench.

“It’s been a while since I’ve loosened up a little. Rotten monsters.”

“Could you at least put out that cigarette….”

The Saintess and Holy King of the Holy Kingdom of Schper exchanged a glance with Raon and entered the battlefield. The two of them radiated holy power, turning the endlessly resurrecting undead into piles of bone dust.

Kwaaaaaaaang!

The Holy Knights and priests of the Holy Kingdom also advanced behind the king and saintess, transforming the entire area occupied by the undead into a sanctuary and even creating a place where the wounded could rest.

Kwaaaaaaaaang!

The allied factions that had been positioned behind the Five Kings also drew their respective weapons and plunged into the flames of war, proving that they had not come here merely to fill their assigned positions.

The bonds Raon Zieghart had forged throughout his life opened a new way forward in a war that had reached a stalemate.
