The Reincarnated Assassin is a Genius Swordsman 1304
Chapter 1304
“How dare a mere insect!”
The archangel Sariel ground his teeth and unleashed an immense surge of divine power from both hands, as if he simply couldn't believe what he was hearing. Golden whirlwinds erupted around him, crushing the heavens and the earth.
Booooooom!
Even as he watched Sariel release a terrifying energy wave, Raon calmly stepped forward with the Supreme Harmony Steps.
'The provocation worked.'
After being killed by him over and over again, Sariel had begun to suspect that the situation might actually be dangerous.
But the moment Raon claimed to have discovered the secret behind his resurrection, Sariel's pride in his own ability seemed to have been wounded, and he became determined to fight to the very end.
That... that was a provocation?
Wrath's jaw dropped in disbelief.
You didn't actually figure out how that bastard resurrects?
'No. I did figure out part of it.'
Raon slowly exhaled and stepped into the web of divine power Sariel had spread across the battlefield.
“I shall grant you a death from which there is no return!”
As Sariel clenched his fist, golden winds that brought death with the slightest touch shot toward Raon.
Chiiiiing!
Despite standing within Sariel's web of light, Raon effortlessly sliced apart the golden winds.
Y-You're serious?
Wrath's eyes widened again at Raon's claim that he had uncovered Sariel's secret.
'Yeah. I thought there was something strange about his behavior. I think I've figured it out.'
Taking a slow breath, Raon unleashed the Fangs of Insanity and the Blizzard Sword Art. A savage beast wrapped in flames and a storm of frigid cold manifested around the twin swords, tearing through the web of light.
Craaaash!
After carving through the web and winds Sariel had created, Raon charged straight toward him.
“Hmph!”
As if he had expected this much, Sariel snorted and created another web that suppressed space itself while unleashing another barrage of deadly winds.
An ordinary Transcender would have been shredded to pieces by that dense web and those murderous winds, leaving not even a fragment of a corpse behind.
But Raon was different.
Whoooom!
He casually batted aside the webs and winds that came near him and continued advancing toward Sariel.
“This is insane...”
Sariel chewed his lip as he watched Raon calmly push through his divine power with an unshaken gaze.
“Y-You should die the instant they touch you! How is this possible?!”
He narrowed his eyes and controlled the light and wind with even greater precision, but once again, it had no effect on Raon.
Thoooom!
Raon eventually cut through every strand of light and every gust of wind, advancing until he reached striking distance.
“A-already?”
The moment Sariel heard Raon's calm breathing, he hurriedly retreated.
“I'll grind you into nothing!”
As he fled backward and prepared to unleash a massive vortex at Raon—
Ssssh!
Raon's sword slipped forward like a blade gliding across ice and sliced through Sariel's neck.
“Gghhh...!”
Clutching his spurting throat, Sariel dropped to his knees. He stared at Raon with trembling eyes filled with disbelief before collapsing to the ground.
Hah! This is complete domination.
Wrath nodded, acknowledging the overwhelming difference in might.
And it's not just about defending yourself and killing the enemy....
His gaze shifted slowly.
...You saved the other humans as well.
Wrath let out a low exclamation as he watched Raon protect the people around him as well.
'No. It's still not enough.'
Just as Raon calmly shook his head—
Baaaaang!
A colossal pillar of light erupted behind him, and Sariel reappeared, his severed neck and wings restored.
“RAON ZIEGHART!”
The archangel stomped the ground as he roared Raon's name. The fury in his voice shook heaven and earth, causing people to collapse as if struck by an invisible force.
“So it was exactly as I thought.”
Raon curled his lips into a smile as he watched Sariel scream in rage.
“As you thought?”
Sariel deeply furrowed his brow, unable to understand what he meant.
“Sariel. You've been sacrificing the souls of the humans you commanded to fuel your resurrections.”
Raon gave a calm nod as he watched the royals and nobles enthralled by Sariel fail to rise again.
“And to hide that, you put on those flashy displays of light every time you came back to life. Then you'd stomp your foot and knock everyone down.”
Every time Sariel resurrected, he unleashed a blinding burst of light and triggered a quake with a stomp of his foot.
At first, I had thought he was simply venting his fury at being killed by me. But that wasn't the case. That bastard had been putting on those flashy displays to conceal the method behind his resurrection.
Huh...? Oh! Ohhh!
Wrath clapped his hands together as the realization finally struck him.
You're right! That bastard pulled that same crap every single time he died and came back!
He nodded, saying Sariel had done the exact same thing even when he had been killed by him.
But how did you figure it out?
Wrath let out a hollow laugh.
‘The light is one thing, but a mage stomping the ground every time he resurrects is strange.’
Raon smiled coldly.
For swordsmen, stomping their feet to add power to their swordsmanship was common. But those who primarily relied on magic, like Sariel, rarely did such a thing.
Finding it strange that he stomped his foot every single time, I observed the surroundings more carefully and sensed that those under his control were dying and failing to rise again.
"I wondered why you were so fond of calling humans insects..."
Raon sneered at Sariel's twisted face.
"Turns out, it's because you're a firefly yourself."
He crooked a finger at him arrogantly, telling him to keep putting on his little light show.
“Insect! Insect! You filthy insect of a human!”
Seemingly genuinely enraged, the archangel Sariel stomped his foot and summoned a massive storm overflowing with golden light.
Shhhraaaaa!
Raon swung the Divine Sword wreathed in blazing flames, splitting the storm Sariel had created in half and burning it away.
“Haa...”
Sariel let out a deep breath as he watched the divided storm.
“Very well. Impressive. You are the fourth to uncover my secret. However....”
He curled his lips into a grin.
“Do you really think knowing it means you can stop me?”
Sariel snorted.
“Your sword is already losing its strength, but every human gathered here is my sacrifice!”
He burst into mad laughter, declaring that he could continue resurrecting through the countless people surrounding them.
“Is that so? Then...”
Raon nodded calmly and raised the Divine Sword as its flames began to fade.
“Die.”
Pronouncing death upon the archangel, he thrust the Divine Sword forward.
“Hah! Trying to cut through space again...? Huh?”
As Sariel shook his head in mockery, the blade of the Divine Sword suddenly emerged before his throat.
Shhhhraaakk!
Before Sariel could react, the Divine Sword pierced straight through his heart and erupted with a massive blaze.
“GRAAAAAAH!”
Sariel grabbed the hilt and tried to pull the Divine Sword out, but it refused to budge and instead burned him even more fiercely.
“I-I was on guard for it...! Cough!”
Muttering that he couldn't understand it, Sariel dropped to his knees and coughed up blood.
“There isn't only one kind of space sword.”
With a flick of Raon's chin, the Divine Sword tore itself free from Sariel's body and returned to his hand.
“I see. That's very useful information.”
Sariel grinned crookedly and shook his head.
“It'll be a tremendous help when I kill an insect like you.”
Still sneering as though he intended to resurrect and continue fighting, the archangel finally collapsed.
Ruuuuuumble!
The moment Sariel's breathing was about to cease, Raon spread out his soul perception.
'I need to figure it out now.'
The way his soul moves.
Even though I had uncovered the method behind his resurrection, I still didn't know how that bastard was offering human souls as sacrifices. I had to discover that now if I wanted to kill that insect-loving bastard for good.
'Sariel's soul disappeared.'
Raon's eyes widened as he sensed Sariel's soul melting away like a dying ember.
Though it slowly sank as if it had died, his soul did not perish.
It vanished somewhere.
'And what remained inside his corpse...'
A normal human soul.
Just before Sariel died, his own soul disappeared, and the soul of an ordinary human entered the dying body and immediately dissolved along with it.
'Now I understand.'
Just before death, the archangel Sariel placed the soul of a human he had enslaved into his ruined body, deceiving death itself. Meanwhile, he continued his resurrection in a new body. That was undoubtedly how it worked.
That was why he kept resurrecting elsewhere amid those extravagant displays.
Huh...
Wrath let out a disbelieving breath.
‘That's a pretty pathetic method for an archangel, isn't it?’
Raon nodded, saying it was certainly shocking.
It's shocking, all right. But it isn't that insect bastard that surprised the King of Essence....
Wrath's jaw trembled as he stared at Raon.
It's you! You figured all of that out immediately! Even the King of Essence couldn't sense that subtle flow of souls!
He swallowed hard, unable to understand why his own senses were duller than those of a subordinate far weaker than himself.
‘Because this is something that can only be perceived through the soul.’
The only person who could probably perceive this right now was me, having developed the Heart Sword in a new direction.
And because of that, I was also the only one who could kill Sariel.
“Try as much as you like! I will never die!”
Sariel roared and summoned another colossal storm of light, shouting for Raon to keep killing him if he could.
“In this world...”
A faint smile touched Raon's lips as he shook his head.
"There is no such thing as an absolute in this world."
Pushing off the ground with the tip of his foot, Raon smoothly extended both arms.
Raon Zieghart Style Swordplay.
Sixth Form.
Divine Demonic Harmony, Combined Technique.
Red and Blue Invincible Sword.
The Divine Sword and Demonic Sword erupted with majestic flames and frost as if they were about to burst apart, splitting the colossal storm of light that stretched to the heavens.
KWAAAAAAAAH!
The divine might born from the two swords did not stop at cleaving the storm apart. It also cut through the body of the archangel Sariel, who had been preparing another spell behind it.
“Hrk...”
Sariel's body was bisected by the Red and Blue Invincible Sword and tilted diagonally.
“I-I told you it was useless. I'll return with a perfect body, and you...”
Even as blood poured from his mouth, he kept smiling as though he were about to switch into another body.
"You'll wear yourself down little by little until you're forced to bow before me."
Lifting his blood-soaked chin, Sariel declared that he, not Raon, would be the one standing at the end of this fight.
Booooom!
Ignoring him completely, Raon drove Heavenly Drive into Sariel’s chest. The sword's flames had already died down.
“You foolish insect. What's the point of stabbing a body that's already dying?”
Sariel sneered, saying that no sword could stop him.
“Then once again... huh?”
Just as he tried to draw out his soul and transfer into a new body—
"W-What is this?! Why can't I move my soul?!"
Sariel's bloodshot eyes darted wildly from side to side as though he could no longer transfer his soul.
“I told you.”
Raon tightened his grip on Heavenly Drive, which had pinned Sariel's soul in place.
"There is no such thing as an absolute in this world."
Looking down at the terrified Sariel, he let out a frigid sneer.
“N-No! That's impossible! Impossible! An insect like you!”
Unable to extract his soul no matter what he tried, Sariel screamed and thrashed about with what remained of his body.
“To the archangel who governs death....”
A flash of red lightning sparked in Raon’s eyes as a deep, brilliant golden flame cloaked his blade.
“I hereby pronounce your death.”
