The Reincarnated Assassin is a Genius Swordsman 1307
Chapter 1307
“You're going right now?”
Roseline, the master of the Black Market, widened her eyes in disbelief.
“Didn't you just say you can't defeat the archangel Uriel yet?”
She shook her head, saying that going now was not a good idea.
“I agree.”
The Ragged Saint, Federick, nodded in agreement.
“If he's still an opponent you can't defeat, wouldn't it be wiser to wait for him?”
He lowered his brows slightly, as if suggesting that Raon wait until Glenn came out of seclusion and go with him.
“You're both right.”
Raon offered no rebuttal and readily acknowledged Roseline's and Federick's concerns. However, he never said he intended to follow their advice.
The King of Essence shouldn't be the one saying this, but...
Wrath drew a quiet breath before speaking.
Uriel is strong. He's nothing like Sariel. He's not the type to rely on tricks and schemes, he's a genuine warrior.
Twisting his lips coldly, he warned that treating Uriel like the other archangels would only lead to a miserable death.
You should know that better than anyone. So why are you insisting on going right now?
Wrath frowned, worried that Raon would be in real danger if he encountered Uriel.
“I understand your concerns.”
After meeting the eyes of Roseline, Federick, and Wrath in turn, Raon nodded.
“But there is a clear difference between visiting a place in advance and arriving there for the first time later.”
There was a world of difference between meeting Uriel for the first time at the temple Sariel had mentioned and facing him after conducting a thorough investigation beforehand.
Gathering information now would undoubtedly lead to a better outcome.
“Besides, judging from what Sariel said, there's a low chance Uriel will appear at that temple right now.”
According to Sariel, Uriel had been moving about so busily that he probably hadn't visited the temple yet. Since there was still time before the war Derus Robert had planned, it made sense to investigate the temple now while the opportunity remained.
You truly have a death wish...
Unable to comprehend Raon's fearless attitude, Wrath shook his head repeatedly.
“Even so, wouldn't it be better to send someone else?”
Federick let out a short sigh.
“An agent of the Black Market could gather information about the temple without leaving any traces behind.”
He lightly bit his lip, worried that even Raon might be placing himself in danger.
“That won't work.”
Raon firmly shook his head.
“That place is a temple of the celestials, overflowing with divine power. It's fundamentally different from any ordinary place on this continent. If an ordinary person enters, they will inevitably leave traces behind.”
He lowered his hand, explaining that sending an agent could actually create a much bigger problem.
“I believe he's right.”
Lifting her teacup, Roseline admitted that she had come to the same conclusion.
“Then you're really...”
“Yes. I have to go myself.”
A calm smile appeared on Raon's face.
“You truly don't need to worry. I'll simply check what resources or opportunities might be available there and return.”
There was a chance I might discover a way to weaken the archangels' power. For that reason alone, investigating the temple was essential.
“Now that Derus Robert is almost certainly dead, the greatest threat isn't the Heavenly Demon standing in plain sight, it's Uriel, who's moving behind the scenes. If there's a way to stop him, I'd search for it even at the ends of the earth.”
"But how will you avoid leaving your own traces?"
Federick tilted his head.
“You don't use divine power either. Won't you leave traces just the same?”
“I already have a way to deal with that.”
Raon smiled faintly, as though it were a simple problem.
“And I plan to prepare an escape route in case something goes wrong.”
He waved his hand, assuring them that he wouldn't let anything happen to himself.
“Hah. If you're that confident, I suppose we'll have to trust you.”
“Indeed. If you've already thought it through, Sir Raon, then it's only right for us to respect your judgment.”
Seeing the calm certainty in Raon's eyes, Federick and Roselin nodded, as though they had no choice but to trust him.
You've proven yourself to them time and again. Of course they're going to trust you.
Wrath grumbled, smacking his lips.
Still, let me say it again. Be careful of Uriel. Ah, there's one other bastard too, but you don't really need to worry about him...
He sighed and told Raon to focus on Uriel above all else.
‘I know.’
Raon rolled his fingers casually.
‘I'll be careful.’
But how are you planning to deal with the divine power?
Wrath turned toward him, curiosity filling his gaze.
“...”
Raon simply stared at him without answering.
Hm?
Wrath blinked.
Wh-Why are you looking at the King of Essence?
“...”
Still silent, Raon smiled even more broadly.
W-What now?! What are you planning to use the King of Essence for this time?!
Wrath shouted, his blue tail trembling uncontrollably.
It's terrifying whenever you smile like that!

“Raon. no, the acting head of house, has caused another stir.”
Sheryl strolled into the audience chamber, letting out a long whistle.
“Huhuhuhu.”
Whether he knew about it or not, Roenn simply smiled softly as he polished the throne.
“I heard he actually became a sage and killed an archangel? And the new nickname he earned is...”
Sheryl grinned as she stomped firmly across the red carpet.
“Sword Immortal! That's his new nickname! It means an immortal of the sword, and it also reflects all the good he's done with that sword of his!”
She chuckled, saying it suited Raon perfectly.
“Though it does feel a little out of place for someone his age.”
Sheryl shrugged, saying that while the nickname suited Raon, it somehow didn't suit him at the same time.
“Sword Immortal... I don't think there could be a more fitting nickname for Sir Raon.”
Roenn slowly repeated the nickname and nodded with a gentle smile.
“Why?”
Sheryl tilted her head.
“An immortal is said to be a being who can ascend to the heavens without the slightest hesitation.”
Roenn smiled calmly, as if he were well acquainted with the meaning of the word.
“We believed the heavens were the realm where sacred gods and angels dwelled. But Sir Raon was different. From the very beginning, he knew those winged celestials were not the beings we imagined them to be, and he never hesitated to cut them down.”
Remembering the sight of Raon slaying the celestials, Roenn unconsciously clenched the hand holding the rag.
“A swordsman who slays fallen celestials, cuts away the suffering and burdens weighing upon the people, and ascends toward the heavens as freely as if he were dancing. I can think of no one more worthy of the nickname Sword Immortal.”
Roenn smiled as though he already knew everything that had happened in the Winten Kingdom.
"What! You already knew everything!"
Sheryl scrunched her nose.
“Then why did you pretend you didn't?”
“Hohoho. I never said I didn't know.”
Roenn merely shook his head with a smile.
“Anyway.”
Sheryl snorted and leaned against one of the audience chamber's pillars.
“This has become pretty interesting. The head of house's new nickname is Sword God, and the acting head of house's nickname is Sword Immortal. Looks like the real heavens are right here in Zieghart.”
She laughed softly.
She chuckled, saying there was no need to search elsewhere for gods and immortals.
“Hohoho. Indeed.”
Roenn's smile deepened as his gaze swept from the sunlight streaming through the window to the floor of the audience chamber.
“Which only makes me more curious.”
His lips curled upward.
“To see how much stronger our god and our immortal will have become when they return.”

“So this is…”
Moving silently through the dense forest without leaving a sound or trace, Raon clicked his tongue.
“Mount Melvin.”
It was his first time hearing of the mountain, yet it was far taller than he had expected.
'How strange.'
What is?
Wrath blinked as he admired the scenery.
'A place like this should be well known, yet nobody seems to know about it.'
Mountains usually become known for their height, so it was strange that a mountain this tall had gone unnoticed until now.
‘Even the Black Market couldn't find it right away. They only located it after digging through old maps.’
The Black Market's information agents knew the continent's geography like the back of their hands, yet none of them knew anything about Melvin. Only after digging through ancient maps for quite some time did they discover the mountain's existence.
Why else! It's obviously because of those celestial bastards' magic!
Wrath snorted as though the answer were obvious.
Do you really think those bastards would allow information about one of their weaknesses to spread?
Twisting his lips, he said the celestials had probably used divine power to brainwash people into forgetting it.
'That certainly makes sense.'
Raon nodded while swiftly climbing the mountain.
'If this were any other mountain, all these medicinal herbs and rare elixirs would've been harvested long ago.'
Even though he hadn't reached the mountain's midpoint yet, valuable medicinal herbs and rare elixirs were already visible everywhere. It seemed the divine power spell cast over Melvin prevented ordinary people from even considering climbing it.
Despicable, filthy hypocrites!
Wrath ground his teeth.
Those bastards don't feel the slightest guilt about manipulating humans
'I got the same impression.'
Looking back at what happened when Uriel appeared and everything he had seen from Sariel, it certainly seemed that the Celestials regarded the people of this continent as nothing more than animals.
But…
Wrath frowned and glanced to his right.
Why did you bring that madwoman along?!
Grinding his teeth, he glared at the purple-haired doll hanging from Raon's right pocket.
'Because I might need Evelyn's help if something goes wrong.'
Raon shook his head as he glanced at the doll.
'You know why. Evelyn's an expert when it comes to this sort of thing.'
When it came to tracking, infiltration, and escape, there wasn't a single mage who could match Evelyn. Even Chamber, the archmage, and the master of the Magic Tower would have to concede defeat to her in those fields.
Haa, that's true.
Wrath nodded reluctantly.
Still, it's a relief that she's being quiet today.
He let out a sigh, saying it would've been terrifying if Evelyn had started talking.
‘Not really.’
Raon waved his hand firmly.
'You can't hear her, but she's talking to me right now. And it's terrifying.'
He wasn't lying. Even as he conversed with Wrath, a relentless barrage of chillingly affectionate messages was flooding in from Evelynn.
[This mountain is so beautiful. Should we come live somewhere like this someday?]
[One child? No, we should have five! I can do it!]
[It'd be nice to bring the children here for a picnic. It'd be especially lovely when the autumn leaves start falling!]
[Raon, do you prefer the mountains or the sea?]
[I like whatever place you like! I'll follow you anywhere!]
[It was so hard having to stay still during the whole archangel incident! I always want to be by your side!]
[Raon! Raon! Raon! Raon!]
Wiping the cold sweat from his forehead, Raon closed his eyes for a moment before reopening them.
'It's getting worse.'
Even though he was deliberately ignoring her, she kept talking to him like this. It was enough to make him fear that Evelyn was reverting back to her old Merlin days.
'There's something else that's strange too.'
As he climbed toward the summit, Raon narrowed his eyes.
What now?
Wrath tilted his head.
'I've come this far up the mountain, yet I can't sense even the slightest trace of divine power.'
At first, he thought the divine power was being hidden, but even now, with the summit nearly in sight, he couldn't sense the slightest trace of it.
'What is this?'
A sense of unease crept over him.
Quickening his steps, Raon dashed toward the summit of Melvin mountain.
'The temple...'
Before his feet even touched the summit, Raon frowned deeply.
'It's not here!'
The only things that existed at the place Sariel had confidently said contained the archangels' temple were leafless, withered trees and rocks cracked by the passage of time.
