The Reincarnated Assassin is a Genius Swordsman 1294
Chapter 1294
After confirming that every swordsman had headed up North Grave Mountain, Raon stepped down from the platform.
“Shall we begin right away?”
Sheryl repeatedly clenched and unclenched her fists, looking as though she had started to genuinely enjoy the exhaustion training.
“Huhuhuhu.”
Roenn loosened the hands clasped behind his back and smacked his lips, looking just as eager.
“Let’s wrap up the kids’ training quickly and do some exhaustion training ourselves afterward!”
The Sword Sovereign rubbed the side Raon had beaten before and grinned fiercely.
“If you charge in that worked up, it won’t even turn into a proper fight.”
The War King pressed down on the Sword Sovereign’s shoulder, telling her to calm down.
“You’re all overflowing with energy.”
Aris muttered enviously while looking at the Sword Sovereign and the War King, both far older than herself.
All five of them had been helping Raon with the exhaustion training because he asked them to, but none of them seemed to truly believe this training was that effective for helping swordsmen grow stronger.
“No.”
Raon said, shaking his head calmly as he looked at them gathered to help
“I don’t think we’ll need to step in today.”
He flashed a faint smile, indicating there was no need to personally push the swordsmen to their limits like before.
“We won’t need to step in?”
“What do you mean by that?”
Sheryl and the Sword Sovereign tilted their heads, unable to understand what Raon meant.
“Huhuhuhu.”
“Hmm….”
Roenn and the War King simply stood in silence, waiting for Raon’s next instructions.
“You’ll understand once you see it. Follow me.”
Concealing his presence, Raon headed up North Grave Mountain first.
“Well, if he says follow him, then we follow.”
Aris shrugged and went after him, and the other four exchanged glances before suppressing their own presences and following behind.
Claaang!
Just as Raon crossed into the entrance of North Grave Mountain, the sound of swords colliding rang out from the bushes to the right. The swordsmen were fighting each other.
“Let’s head over there.”
Raon gave the order from within an aura barrier so the sound wouldn’t spread, then moved toward the fight.
“W-Why are you doing this?!”
Dorian bit his lip as he blocked Krein’s sword.
“You heard what that bastard said too!”
Krein gritted his teeth as he forced Dorian backward with his sword.
“You have to go down for me to survive!”
He pushed his sword even harder, practically begging Dorian to just drop dead already.
“T-Then go after some other group instead!”
Dorian barely managed to fend off Krein’s attacks, demanding to know why he had come after him instead of weaker opponents.
"Do you really think that bastard would let me get away with taking the easy route? You know damn well he'd throw a fit later!"
Krein frowned, saying Dorian should know that better than anyone.
“T-That’s true….”
Dorian nodded in reluctant agreement.
“Exactly! So you’re my only option!”
Declaring that he would defeat Dorian here and follow Raon, Krein swung his sword with everything he had, determined to beat Dorian and leave with Raon.
He really understands how wicked you are!
Wrath curled his lips into a grin while looking at Krein.
He knows perfectly well that you’re the kind of petty madman who throws a fit over the smallest things!
Wrath cackled on Raon’s shoulder as though he found it hilarious.
“Wow, he really knows what kind of person the acting head of house is.”
Aris snickered, impressed by how quickly Krein had caught on.
“Huhuhuhu!”
Roenn burst into hearty laughter, clearly thinking the same thing.
“Die already! I’m leaving with that damn bastard no matter what!”
Krein unleashed his swordsmanship with complete sincerity, desperate not to stay behind and continue the exhaustion training.
“Hmm!”
Sheryl let out a sound of admiration as she watched Krein’s swordsmanship.
“Krein’s improved tremendously. It’s like night and day compared to when he first started exhaustion training.”
She smacked her lips, amazed by how rapidly his skills had grown.
“You’re right.”
The Sword Sovereign stroked her chin with interest.
“The tip of his sword is alive.”
Since she had personally taught Krein before, she could clearly sense the difference in him, and a deep smile spread across her face.
“Sorry, but….”
Dorian slowly pushed Krein’s sword away and straightened the back that had been bent under the pressure.
“I need to survive too!”
He stomped his foot, declaring that he was sick of exhaustion training as well.
Craaaang!
Dorian infused the authority of <Gluttony> dwelling within his soul into his blade and met Krein’s storm-like barrage head-on.
Kyaaaaarang!
A crimson afterimage, red as Gluttony’s lips, bloomed from Dorian’s sword and devoured every one of Krein’s strikes.
Kuwaaaaang!
Krein was struck in the shoulder by Dorian’s slash and slammed straight into the ground.
“Urgh….”
Caught completely off guard by the impact, he sprawled flat on his back and coughed up blood.
“Huhuhu!”
Roenn released the hands behind his back and laughed in admiration.
“Young master Dorian has improved remarkably as well.”
He clasped his hands together, clearly astonished by Dorian’s swordsmanship.
“A sword technique that devours the opponent’s aura….”
The War King lowered one eyebrow while studying Dorian.
“Not bad.”
Since he had personally trained Dorian himself, the corners of his usually stern mouth lifted slightly with pride.
“S-Sorry….”
Dorian rushed over to Krein, eyes wide as if even he was shocked by the power of his own swordsmanship.
“Y-Yeah… I figured I’d lose….”
Krein’s lips trembled as though he had expected this outcome from the start.
"Th-then why did you even try?"
Dorian narrowed his eyes, puzzled that Krein had attacked him anyway despite knowing he would lose.
“I-I told you already! That crazy, completely unhinged bastard would never let me off the hook!”
Krein shook his head weakly, saying it was still better to fight Dorian with everything he had than face Raon directly.
At first you were just a damn bastard, but now you’ve become a crazy, completely unhinged bastard!
Wrath giggled as Krein’s insults toward Raon kept growing longer and harsher.
‘True enough.’
Raon turned his head slightly and chuckled.
You got insulted, yet you look pleased.
Wrath twisted his lips while staring at him.
Though the King of Essence supposes it makes sense. You just witnessed your subordinates growing stronger with your own eyes.
He nodded, saying he understood that feeling perfectly.
‘That’s right.’
Raon smiled faintly as he looked at the fallen Krein and Dorian helping him up.
“Let’s keep moving.”
He called to the others, who were still admiring Krein and Dorian’s duel, and continued farther up the mountain.
Kyaaaaaang!
Just as Raon had expected, North Grave Mountain had effectively turned into one massive arena.
Most of the swordsmen had sought out opponents around their own level and were clashing blades with everything they had, carrying out the exhaustion training on their own.
“You were absolutely right, acting head of house.”
Sheryl looked around with wide eyes.
“Everyone’s going all out.”
He let out a whistle, clearly not expecting the swordsmen to become this fired up.
“Let’s head over there.”
Raon used the Supreme Harmony Steps while pointing toward the western peak, where the largest shockwaves on the mountain were erupting.
Kuuuuung!
The two swordsmen locked in fierce combat atop the western peak were Burren and Martha.
The two of them unleashed chillingly vicious sword strikes at each other as if they were mortal enemies meeting on a battlefield to the death.
Kugugugugugu!
In that fleeting instant, Burren and Martha’s swords collided dozens of times, cracks splitting across the peak as massive boulders began tumbling down the mountainside.
“So it really was Burren and Martha. But….”
The Sword Sovereign narrowed her eyes slightly as she watched the two of them move.
“Were these kids always this strong?”
She let out a quiet breath of disbelief, feeling as though they had become completely different people overnight.
“No. Their growth all came recently.”
The War King swallowed dryly as he looked at Raon’s back.
“It must be thanks to Sir Raon’s training.”
He nodded, saying Burren and Martha had grown through the exhaustion training Raon created.
“It’s not just those two.”
Aris shook her head with a refreshing grin.
“Every swordsman we’ve seen today has improved noticeably.”
She clenched her fist, saying it wasn’t only the two in front of them, the Zieghart swordsmen as a whole had become much stronger.
“There’s one over there as well.”
Roenn chuckled warmly, gesturing toward the opposite peak where Runaan was systematically taking on challenges from any powerful swordsman who dared approach.
“This still isn’t enough.”
Raon shook his head as he sensed the waves of energy coming from every swordsman across North Grave Mountain.
“Before the war against Eden begins….”
Unsatisfied with their current growth, he smacked his lips as though he still hungered for more.
“I intend to make every last one of them at least twice as strong as they are now.”
* * *
"Good work, everyone."
Raon gave a calm nod as he looked at the swordsmen sprawled across the training ground in complete exhaustion.
“All of you performed far beyond my expectations.”
A faint smile appeared on his lips as he praised every swordsman who had taken part in the training.
“Ughhh….”
“Th-thank….”
“I-I’m gonna die….”
“Huff! Huff!”
The swordsmen couldn’t even properly respond to Raon’s words, only groaning or gasping for breath. Since they had fought each other with everything they had, they looked even more exhausted than during their usual exhaustion training.
“Since everyone gave it their all today, exhaustion training will be suspended until this mission is over.”
Raon stomped his foot as he announced that the exhaustion training would be put on hold until the mission to bring down the archangel was complete.
“WOOOOOOO!”
“YEAHHHHHH!”
“Long live the acting head of house! No, long live the head of house!”
The swordsmen leapt to their feet as though they had just received a blessing from the heavens, cheering and roaring the moment they heard the exhaustion training was suspended.
Of course, their strength immediately gave out again, and they collapsed back onto the ground.
“This mission won’t be a simple fight, so I’ll be taking the Light Wind Palace with me since they’re the ones who’ve worked with me the most.”
When Raon announced that the Light Wind Palace would be accompanying him on the mission, the swordsmen nodded without a single complaint.
At this point, it seemed they no longer cared what happened as long as they didn’t have to continue the exhaustion training.
“I-It’s not just a straightforward combat mission?”
Krein blinked as he struggled to lift his head.
“What do you mean by that?”
Burren smacked his lips as well, clearly curious about the nature of the mission.
“T-This feels bad….”
Dorian swallowed dryly, a fresh sense of dread creeping over him.
“It’s nothing that difficult.”
Raon raised a finger with a small smile. A chilling grin spread across his face, as though he had already subdued the archangel Sariel himself.
“We’re simply going to drive out a fraud who thinks himself a god… and raise up a new god in his place.”
