The Reincarnated Assassin is a Genius Swordsman 1270
Chapter 1270
“Gghhh!”
Blood burst from inside the Death Sword Spirit’s helmet as she lowered her head.
“How the hell…?”
Still unable to believe she had been defeated, she stared wide-eyed at the demonic sword piercing through her chest.
“The answer’s simple.”
Raon slowly shook his head as he met her confused gaze.
“Because I was stronger than you.”
He wasn’t saying it just to mock her.
His swordsmanship truly had been faster, stronger, more versatile, and more refined than hers.
The Death Sword Spirit was undoubtedly one of the strongest warriors on the continent, but after Raon’s secluded training with Glenn, she was no longer his equal.
“Ugh…”
Perhaps she already realized that she had been completely outmatched in terms of strength, because instead of arguing, she merely bit down hard on her lip in silence.
“Damn it…”
It almost seemed like the pain of losing in swordsmanship hurt her more than the blade through her chest.
“Talk.”
Raon twisted the demonic sword embedded in her chest and lowered his cold gaze.
“Where is the Heavenly Demon?”
He could have killed the Death Sword Spirit immediately, but the way she had fought openly and honorably, without resorting to tricks, made him want to hear the Heavenly Demon’s whereabouts from her directly.
“Haa…”
The Death Sword Spirit exhaled a frosty breath as she looked down at the demonic sword lodged in her chest. The cold energy from the blade had already spread through her body.
“You’re even stronger than I heard.”
She gave a slow nod, as if admitting defeat.
“The Heavenly Demon said you were around my level. This is the first time I’ve ever seen his judgment be wrong.”
A hollow laugh escaped her lips as she admitted Raon’s might had far surpassed even the Heavenly Demon’s expectations.
“Well, it’s been a while since the Heavenly Demon last saw me.”
Raon casually flicked the hand holding the divine sword, as if it were obvious.
“No. Most people couldn’t grow this much in such a short time.”
She lowered the hand holding her black sword with a weary sigh, fully accepting defeat.
“You’re simply extraordinary… Sword Emperor Raon Zieghart.”
“The Heavenly Demon is currently…”
She paused for a moment, glancing at the demonic sword in her chest before speaking again.
“In Cameloon.”
Her brows furrowed as she revealed the Heavenly Demon’s location.
“Cameloon…?”
Raon’s eyes widened.
“The trade city Cameloon? The same place where we opened Eden’s back gate?”
The answer was so unbelievable that his grip on the demonic sword tightened unconsciously.
“Kh…”
The Death Sword Spirit bit her lip from the pain caused by the sword, yet still nodded.
“That’s right. The Heavenly Demon is in Cameloon, the very city you arrived in after opening Eden’s back gate. He said he would stay there and observe humanity.”
Her gaze grew even more solemn than it had been during their battle, as if trying to make it unmistakably clear that she was telling the truth.
“You should already understand this, but once someone reaches the Heavenly Demon’s level, there’s very little enlightenment left to gain through ordinary training or battle. It seems he’s trying to grasp the truths of the world itself by observing human lives.”
Even though Raon hadn’t asked, she voluntarily explained how the Heavenly Demon sought to become even stronger.
Just as Raon had felt from the start, the Death Sword Spirit didn’t seem to hold the Heavenly Demon in particularly high regard.
“T-The Heavenly Demon is in Cameloon? That’s impossible…”
Burren shook his head violently in disbelief.
“R-Right! If the Heavenly Demon was in Cameloon, there’s no way he wouldn’t have noticed us coming here! She’s lying!”
Martha gritted her teeth as she shouted in denial.
“T-Then why didn’t he do anything…?”
“It’s obviously bullshit! Don’t believe her!”
Dorian trembled all over as fear returned to him, and Krein grabbed his head, telling him to get a hold of himself.
“…”
Runaan was shaken too, but she quietly steadied her breathing while tightening her grip on the Snow Flower Sword, as though she intended to follow Raon’s judgment first.
‘Wrath.’
Raon turned his gaze from the Death Sword Spirit toward Wrath.
‘Did you ever sense the Heavenly Demon watching us in Cameloon?’
Raon himself hadn’t noticed anything, but he thought Wrath might have sensed the Heavenly Demon’s presence.
Not at all!
Wrath firmly shook his head.
Not even the slightest gaze or disturbance. Either that woman is lying, or the Heavenly Demon hid himself perfectly.
He wrinkled his nose, as though even he couldn’t tell which was true.
“You’re right.”
The Death Sword Spirit let out a sigh and nodded.
“The Heavenly Demon was probably watching all of you.”
She exhaled a ragged breath, confirming that what the Light Wind Palace swordsmen had said was exactly right.
“From the moment you set foot in Cameloon, to when you opened the path leading to the garden. Even when you slew the Sphinx and broke in here.”
She lightly bit her lip as she said the Heavenly Demon had likely witnessed everything.
“Hiiik…”
The Bear Alteration Demon let out a frightened whimper, like a herbivore sensing a predator’s gaze.
“Hm, so I was right after all?”
The Black Form Snake curled his lips slightly, as though he had already suspected where the Heavenly Demon was.
“But why…?”
Instead of looking at the Death Sword Spirit, Raon lifted his eyes toward Eden’s sky and frowned.
“The Heavenly Demon saw us coming… and yet he never tried to stop us? He’s just been watching this whole time?”
He bit his lip as he looked across Eden’s landscape, which now felt far more ominous than before.
“Perhaps he considered your invasion to be part of human life as well.”
The Death Sword Spirit closed her eyes briefly before opening them again, as though even she couldn’t understand it.
“To be honest, I don’t know either. You should ask him yourself once you leave here. He’s probably waiting outside.”
She shook her head slightly, as if telling him not to ask her any further.
‘That…’
Raon smacked his lips quietly as he looked into the Death Sword Spirit’s unwavering eyes.
‘She’s not lying.’
I didn’t know her well, but after crossing swords with her since their very first meeting, there were certain things I could tell.
She wasn’t the kind of woman who would lie about something like this.
“Haa…”
Raon let out a quiet sigh and pulled the demonic sword from her chest.
‘So this is how it feels…’
He had stormed Eden’s headquarters intending to throw the Heavenly Demon and Eden’s demons into chaos, but hearing that the Heavenly Demon had been watching everything from the start made it feel like he had been outplayed instead.
“So the nickname ‘Demon Who Ascended the Heavens’ wasn’t earned for nothing.”
Raon felt a chill run down his spine as he realized the Heavenly Demon’s shadow had been looming over him this entire time.
‘He may have grown even stronger than before… just like grandfather.’
Aside from me, even Wrath had failed to sense the Heavenly Demon’s presence. That alone suggested the Heavenly Demon had reached an even higher level, just like grandfather had. As expected, a monster like him wouldn’t fall easily.
“Then let’s go.”
Just as Raon turned around after saying they were done here—
Fwoooosh!
The frost of Glacier embedded within the Death Sword Spirit’s wound melted away beneath her blazing combative energy, and blood began dripping from her chest once more.
“And where exactly do you think you’re going?”
Unlike before, her voice had turned cold and sharp.
“You…”
Raon frowned as he felt the Death Sword Spirit’s revived combative energy rising once again.
“Didn’t you predict it yourself? That I, on the verge of death, would reveal the Heavenly Demon’s location. I may have been defeated, but that prediction still hasn’t fully come true yet.”
Though she admitted defeat, the Death Sword Spirit raised her black sword once more, determined to fight until the very end.
“I really will kill you this time.”
Raon tilted his chin slightly.
He had spared her because she had fought honorably and accepted defeat without excuses, but now he was genuinely considering ending her life.
Honestly, the fact that she was willingly throwing herself at him again was absurd.
“That’s fine. For a warrior, dying to a sword superior to your own is only natural.”
The Death Sword Spirit drew her black sword behind her head and lowered her stance like a wild cat preparing to pounce, fully prepared to wager her life on the next exchange.
Her combative energy ignited from beneath her feet, blazing hotter and hotter until a scorching heat swept across all of Eden.
“Haa…”
The Death Sword Spirit swung her sword, overflowing with enough killing intent to send chills down one’s spine. It looked as though she was about to unleash that space-crossing thrust once again.
Ohh!
Wrath let out an impressed exclamation as he sensed the Death Sword Spirit’s resolve.
To say it is only natural for a warrior to die to a superior sword! What a magnificent woman!
He nodded repeatedly, suddenly seeming to like her quite a bit.
But… he feels like he has heard those words somewhere before…
Wrath smacked his lips, as though the memory was right on the tip of his tongue.
“To think someone like her existed in Eden…”
“She’s the kind of opponent I’d want to fight myself.”
Burren and Martha both let out quiet breaths of admiration, clearly moved by the Death Sword Spirit’s resolve.
“The tip of her sword…”
Runaan moved her fingers slightly, as though trying to learn a new sword stance just from watching the Death Sword Spirit’s posture.
“Very well.”
Raon nodded, holding the divine sword high and the demonic sword low.
“Come.”
Like Wrath, Raon had taken a liking to Death Sword Spirit’s resolve. Determined to meet her martial art head-on with everything he had, he stepped forward with his left foot.
Baaaaang!
The Death Sword Spirit tore across the ground with violent force. In an instant, the tip of her blade was already inches from the space between Raon's brows.
Kyaaaang!
The instant Raon sensed the killing intent blazing from her black sword and raised the divine sword into a defensive form—
SWISH!
But just before the divine sword could make contact, the Death Sword Spirit pivoted. She flowed around the trajectory of his blade like a cloud drifting through the sky.
Chiaaaang!
Raon immediately followed up with the demonic word, aiming for her chest just as he had in their previous exchange.
Fwoooooosh!
But once again, the Death Sword Spirit used her mysterious footwork to slip aside and deflect the demonic sword with her black blade.
“Now!”
The moment the divine sword dipped downward and the demonic sword stretched out to the right, she seized the tiny opening and thrust her black sword forward.
‘Ha…’
Raon let out a hollow breath as he watched the black blade hurtling toward his heart.
‘Is she still growing stronger even now?’
Every time she fought me, no, every time we exchanged sword forms, the Death Sword Spirit seemed to grow stronger right before my eyes.
Her talent was monstrous, perhaps even greater than mine despite the Ring of Fire amplifying my abilities.
Honestly, it didn’t make any sense at all.
‘First…’
Raon rotated the divine sword halfway and knocked aside the black sword aiming for his chest.
Kiaaaaaang!
The Death Sword Spirit used the recoil from the impact to her advantage, whipping her sword back around toward his throat with even greater speed.
Jjeeeeeeong!
Raon narrowed his eyes as he used the free-flowing trajectory of the Fangs of Insanity to knock away her black sword.
‘No… this isn’t simple growth.’
It felt less like the Death Sword Spirit was becoming stronger in the middle of battle and more like she was recovering strength she had lost long ago.
No matter how monstrous a genius someone was, it should have been impossible to instantly absorb and apply the realizations gained while fighting an opponent stronger than themselves.
But the Death Sword Spirit wasn’t adapting to new insights on the spot.
It was as though the power and swordsmanship she had once possessed were gradually returning to her with every clash.
‘This is bad.’
Even in her current state, the Death Sword Spirit had already stepped into the realm of Absolute. If her strength continued to recover, there was a real chance that even I would no longer be able to defeat her.
I had to finish this now.
Sssssss—
Raon drew in a deep breath and stepped forward. After knocking aside the Death Sword Spirit’s chilling thrust with the demonic sword, he brought the divine sword crashing down.
Paaang!
The Death Sword Spirit tried to use the shockwave from the demonic sword to escape the divine sword’s range with her footwork.
‘Too late.’
Raon shook his head briefly and thrust the divine sword into empty air. Flames burst through space itself and surged directly before the Death Sword Spirit’s eyes.
“Ugh!”
She swung her black sword to block the flames moving at a speed beyond reason, But the divine sword’s fire completely ignored her defense, slipping past the black sword and piercing straight through her guard.
Puuuuuk!
The blazing sword strike tore through Death Sword Spirit’s chest, and her knees slammed against the ground on the spot.
Void Severance.
A sword art capable of piercing through both an opponent’s evasion and their defenses had completely shattered the Death Sword Spirit’s footwork.
“Ha…”
Looking down at the blood pouring from the wound in her chest, the Death Sword Spirit slowly parted her lips.
“What an incredible sword…”
She nodded, seemingly pleased to have witnessed such an incredible sword.
“Kill me.”
The savagery had completely vanished from her eyes as she looked at Raon, calmly asking him to grant her death.
“You were extraordinary as well.”
Raon nodded in acknowledgment and raised the divine sword to cut off her head.
But at that moment—
Sssssssss—
A crimson wave, even redder than the Death Sword Spirit’s blood, began rising from the ground beneath her kneeling body.
Kugugugugugu!
As the wave spread outward in ever-widening circles, a catastrophic tremor erupted. It wasn’t just Eden’s headquarters shaking, it felt as though the entire world itself was screaming.
“This…”
Raon’s jaw trembled as he instinctively stepped backward.
The sky seemed to cower in fear, while the earth itself appeared to wail in terror before the overwhelming presence now emerging. Even Raon found cold sweat running down his forehead, crushed beneath the suffocating pressure pouring out from the crimson wave.
He’s coming!
Wrath burst forward, his eyes trembling violently.
For the first time ever, Wrath glared at the crimson light with eyes filled with pure hatred and murderous malice.
That arrogant bastard who deserves a thousand deaths... the Monarch of Pride!
