The Reincarnated Assassin is a Genius Swordsman 1265
Chapter 1265
Rumbleeeee—!
Raon lowered his gaze as he stepped toward Eden’s gate, which shimmered in blinding gold.
‘So it really was a dimensional gate.’
Just as he’d suspected, the door the Sphinx had opened wasn’t an ordinary entrance, it pierced through space itself, linking this place to somewhere else entirely.
Of course it wouldn’t be here.
Wrath nodded, clearly thinking the same.
Anyone who calls the place they’re based in a ‘garden’ wouldn’t be hiding underground like rats!
He smacked his lips, curiosity practically dripping off him, as if already wondering what Eden’s true headquarters looked like.
‘If it had been here, there’s no way they wouldn’t have found it.’
This trade city, Cameloon, is where the continent’s greatest intelligence organization moves actively. If Eden’s entrance had been beneath this place, they would never have missed it.
“T-This is impossible...”
The Bear Alteration Demon’s jaw trembled as he stared at the Sphinx dissolving into golden particles.
“That monster was supposed to be an immortal mystical creature! How could this—!”
He pinched his own cheek, as if hoping he was dreaming, and let out a strangled cry.
“If that Sphinx was an immortal monster, then our acting head of house is the kind of monster who can kill anything.”
Dorian brushed the dust off his clothes and stood up.
“He doesn’t just cut down your body, he cuts your soul, too. So you can never stand back up again…”
He shook his head, saying he experienced it every day.
“Ugh…”
The Bear Alteration Demon stumbled backward on legs that had already gone weak, fear of Raon sinking even deeper into his bones.
“Hmm.”
Ignoring their exchange, Raon reached out toward Eden’s gate.
Pajijijijik!
The golden dimensional gate distorted and softly accepted my hand like water. Feeling no rejection at all, it seemed I could enter like this.
‘But…’
Raon clicked his tongue as he looked at the golden dimensional gate swallowing his hand.
‘It’s closing.’
The dimensional gate that had been wide open began to close slowly. It might be because the Sphinx died, or it might originally have been a gate that opens only for a certain amount of time.
“I believe it’s my turn now?”
Before he could move, a sultry voice drifted from behind him.
“Haah! I was getting so bored just waiting, but getting to see our Raon shine at the end made it all worth it! How did you solve such a difficult riddle?”
Evelyn opened her sweat-dampened palms, smiling brightly. She admitted her hands had tensed on their own while watching him answer the Sphinx’s riddle.
“Of course, the way you cut that chimera in a single strike was cool too!”
Honey practically dripped from her eyes as she said Raon was good and cool no matter what he did.
“Thanks… but could you handle this gate first?”
Raon let out a small sigh, asking her to stop the dimensional gate from closing.
“Of course! Anything for you!”
Evelyn stepped close behind him without hesitation.
“I’ll take care of it!”
She pressed herself firmly against Raon’s back and began tracing a complex formula onto the dimensional gate.
“W-Wait, this is—”
Raon turned around, suddenly stammering like Dorian.
“I need to be this close to see properly. Can’t help it.”
Contrary to her words, Evelyn wore a happy smile at the corner of her lips as she examined the dimensional gate.
Ghhk…
The moment Wrath felt the warmth radiating from her, he trembled violently.
R-Run away immediately! The King of Essence can feel a madness coming from that madwoman that threatens to drive even him insane!
He screamed that the heat pouring off her was so overwhelming he felt like he might melt.
“E-Evelyn. Wouldn’t it be better if you stepped back a little while you work?”
Raon, who had cut the Sphinx in a single strike without blinking, now found sweat forming on his forehead as he gently tried to push her away.
“I’ve never been to Eden’s main headquarters. I was always under the Fallen’s watch. I mostly stayed at branch headquarters, or inside his mental world. Honestly, I didn’t even know a gate like this existed. But…”
Evelyn ignored him entirely, her red lips curling upward.
“I know what Eden’s air feels like. Extending the duration of a dimensional gate to this extent is simple.”
She stuck even closer to him and leisurely began constructing the spell formula.
“I mean, do that a bit farther—”
“Don’t worry! I’ll be done in no time!”
Instead of the dimensional gate, Evelyn stroked Raon’s back more deeply and nodded.
“Uhhg…?”
The Bear Alteration Demon blinked, stunned by the sight of Raon, who had cut the so-called invincible Sphinx, utterly helpless before a single woman.
“Is... is this for real? Am I seeing this right?”
His eyes flickered in disbelief.
“Yep.”
Dorian shrugged as if this were nothing unusual.
“Honestly, I’m not even sure there’s anyone in Zieghart who can beat Lady Evelyn.”
He added with another shrug that even Glenn couldn’t really control her.
“I seriously can’t understand that man…”
The Bear Alteration Demon frowned at Raon—
Swoosh.
Figures dressed in black night robes, faces hidden behind masks, slipped through the concealment spell he had set up and entered the area. They began carefully examining the dimensional gate and the sorcery that had opened it, surveying every inch to assess the situation.
“W-Who are they? They’re not from the Light Wind Palace, are they?”
The Bear Alteration Demon swallowed dryly.
“They’re agents from the Black Market.”
Dorian nodded, as if he had been expecting them.
“They’ve been watching us the whole time, providing support.”
He grinned, saying they’d been tailing them from the very beginning.
“F-From the beginning?”
The Bear Alteration Demon’s eyes widened. He hadn’t noticed a thing.
“Yep! The acting head of house requested it. We had to prevent civilian casualties, take care of any injured, and gather intel on Eden.”
Dorian nodded proudly, saying Raon had planned all of this in advance.
“…”
The Bear Alteration Demon let out a low groan.
“I don’t get it. I really don’t…”
He shook his head, muttering that he could not understand the human called Raon.
“All done!”
Evelyn said the work was finished and removed her hand from the dimensional gate.
“As long as I’m here, this gate won’t close!”
She winked at Raon, telling him to go without worry.
“Right. Thanks.”
Raon nodded, sincerely grateful as always.
“You don’t have to thank me like that!”
She told him not to feel burdened, while very deliberately stroking down his shoulder.
“….”
Raon’s shoulder twitched under her touch before he stepped forward.
“Light Wind Palace.”
At his call, the air over western Cameloon rippled. With a heavy tremor shaking the ground, the swordsmen of the Light Wind Palace emerged behind him like shadows and dropped to one knee.
“Light Wind Palace. We answer the call of the acting head of house.”
Burren and the others lifted their heads, fists striking their chests, ready to obey any command.
“From this moment, we enter Eden’s main headquarters.”
Raon turned around, hands clasped behind his back.
“We don’t know what kind of place their so-called ‘garden’ is. We don’t know what will happen, or who will appear. But there’s no need to fear.”
He acknowledged the danger plainly, then gave a calm nod.
“I’ll stand at the front.”
Raon turned back again after saying words that would inevitably make not merely the Light Wind Palace, but any swordsman of Zieghart, feel a thrill.
“Yes!”
“We will follow!”
“We’ll follow you even to our deaths!”
Overcome with emotion, the Light Wind Palace released a grand surge of fighting spirit and placed their hands on their swords.
“Bear Alteration Demon.”
Standing before the dimensional gate, Raon gestured to him.
“You’re coming too.”
He lowered his chin heavily, making it clear he would be taking him to Eden’s main headquarters as well.
‘.….’
The Bear Alteration Demon bit down on his lip as he forced his trembling legs to carry him toward Raon.
‘Raon Zieghart… he’s not like anyone I’ve ever seen.’
A mind sharp enough to solve, in just ten seconds, a riddle whose answer I couldn’t even begin to imagine. The might to cut down a mystical creature that existed only as a spiritual body. The calculated foresight to station the Black Market and the Light Wind Palace behind him so he would be prepared for any outcome. The presence to stir the souls of his subordinates. And, on top of all that, the strange way he suddenly became weak whenever he was in front of a certain witch. It was hard to believe this monster was only in his twenties.
‘If it’s him…’
He might actually make it back alive.
The Bear Alteration Demon had planned to survive by claiming credit for luring Raon to Eden’s headquarters. It was shameless, yes, but he had his reasons. Reasons why he absolutely had to live.
But now, after seeing what Raon was truly capable of, a thought crept in unbidden.
That man might even come back alive after facing the Heavenly Demon.
“We’re going in.”
Raon looked at him with calm, steady eyes, as if he could see straight through his thoughts.
“W-Why are you looking at me like that…?”
Just meeting Raon’s gaze made the Bear Alteration Demon feel exposed. His jaw trembled, and he took an involuntary step back.
“We’re going in.”
Without reacting to the Bear Alteration Demon’s fluster, Raon walked toward the dimensional gate and, without hesitation, entered the golden, shining space.
Wooooong—
Rather than his body floating like with other dimensional gates, it felt as if he were sinking into a swamp. Just when he thought he was sinking so deeply that breathing felt difficult, blue light seeped into his vision.
Fwaaaaaa—
When Raon slowly opened his eyes, an endless sea of green spread out before him.
‘So this is…’
A massive forest encircled a city. At its center, and at its center pure white buildings rose like pillars of a temple, forming a beautiful balance. It looked like a city shaped like a gigantic laurel wreath.
“The sealed gate actually activated… and I wondered who it could be.”
“An enemy infiltration?”
“Looks like the Evil Goat Demon and Bear the Alteration Demon sold us out.”
Before Raon could finish taking in the sight, cold voices echoed from behind him.
“Are these the dogs of Zieghart?”
“This isn’t a place for trash like you.”
“I was bored anyway. How considerate of you to come deliver yourselves.”
“As thanks, I’ll make your deaths quick.”
Eden’s demons radiated killing intent as they faced Raon. All of them were executives, masked or helmeted, and the combative energy they released here was easily twice as fierce as what they had shown outside.
Raon gave no reply and simply stared fixedly at the Eden executives wrapped in killing intent.
“Say something—”
An executive wearing an ogre-shaped helmet began to shout—
“Do not raise your voice to the head of house.”
Burren, emerging from the dimensional gate, raised a sharp wind and cut off the neck of the ogre-helmeted executive.
“Ah…”
The man collapsed, eyes wide in disbelief, as if he couldn’t comprehend his own death.
“Violent Battle Demon!”
“Didn’t you hear him tell you to shut your mouth? Shut it!”
A savage voice erupted from behind the man wearing a black orc mask, shocked by the Violent Battle Demon’s death.
Thud—!
Martha drove her sword forward, Titan’s Aura blazing along its edge, and crushed the black-orc-masked man’s back.
“Gah—!”
“I-It’s them! Zieghart’s Light Wind Palace!”
“Then that must be Raon Zieghart—”
The Eden executives turned to flee the moment they realized who had invaded.
A storm of blue frost exploded upward.
“Quiet.”
Runaan confined the Eden executives within a wall of frost and placed a finger to her lips as if telling them to be quiet.
“Ugh—!”
The only one left standing, a man wearing a snake-shaped helmet, stumbled backward in panic. He tripped over something and froze.
When he slowly lifted his shaking eyes, Raon was standing there, expression unchanged.
“Call the Heavenly Demon.”
Raon slowly tilted his chin as he spoke the name of the ruler of this “garden.”
“I have a debt to collect.”
