The Reincarnated Assassin is a Genius Swordsman 1221

 Chapter 1221

Raon curled his lips as he looked at Derus Robert, whose brows were drawn so tightly together that they nearly touched.

‘So he really didn’t expect us to chase him all the way here.’

Normally, even after suffering a major loss, Derus would have regained his composure. He would have forced himself to stay calm, or at the very least, maintained the appearance of composure. Even when he had no room to spare, he had always been the type to act unshaken.

But this time was different. The situation had gone so far beyond his calculations that he could no longer hide it. Derus Robert was staring straight at me, his eyes bloodshot, veins bulging vividly as rage surged through him.

The murderous intent pouring out of him was so intense that, had Glenn not been standing at my side, it felt as though that killing pressure alone could have torn flesh from my body.

Of course he’s furious!

Wrath let out a dry, incredulous laugh.

A single thief ruins a plan he’s prepared for years, then chases him all the way into his house and points a blade at him! If it were the King of Essence, he’d be so enraged his insides would burst!

Wrath shook all over, vividly imagining how furious he himself would be if he were in Derus’s place.

Still, seeing that scheming bastard reduced to this state is incredibly satisfying!

He grinned broadly, remarking that it had been hot lately, and that Derus’s twisted expression was a sight that genuinely lifted his mood.

‘But…’

Raon narrowed his eyes as he surveyed Derus Robert and the area around the platform.

‘There aren’t many people here either.’

Unlike the entrance, there were masked warriors who looked strong, but they were few in number.

It seemed the elite forces Derus had raised for war had already been diverted elsewhere.

“Derus Robert.”

Glenn stepped forward beside Raon and calmly lifted his chin.

“You said we’d meet again in a year. Yet here we are already.”

He flicked his wrist casually, throwing Derus a mocking smile.

“I don’t think I’ve ever seen that expression on your face. Not even when your true identity was exposed did you look this bad.”

Glenn twisted his lips as he watched Derus’s complexion turn sallow.

“Come to think of it, the one who exposed you back then was my grandson as well. We fell for your schemes, but it seems they don't work on him.”

One jab after another, Glenn deliberately piled on the psychological pressure.

“……”

Despite Glenn’s taunts, Derus Robert said nothing. Dark veins stood out on the back of his hand as he clenched his teeth.

“What are you so eager to run away from?”

Raon looked up at Derus standing atop the platform and crooked his finger.

“This is the war you wanted, isn’t it? So what are you so afraid of that you’re trying to run?”

He lowered his chin slightly, telling him not to flee and to finish things here.

“Then again, I suppose this suits you perfectly, a cowardly schemer too afraid to even reveal his own name, clinging to the shadows of the Six Kings and hiding behind them.”

Raon waved his hand dismissively, mocking him.

“Haaa….”

Derus Robert closed his eyes and let out a deep sigh, so heavy with emotion that it felt as though the entire vast chamber itself was being dyed pitch black.

“When did you figure this place out?”

He frowned deeply, still unable to comprehend the situation.

“From the beginning.”

Raon waved his hand calmly.

“I knew about this place from the beginning. Or rather, I should say this is where it started.”

He smiled faintly as he explained that discovering this bizarre location was what made infiltrating Heaven possible in the first place.

“This was the beginning…? Hah! So that’s how it was!”

Derus Robert let out a chilling, beast-like laugh, as though all the pieces of the puzzle had finally fallen into place.

“So I wasn’t just outplayed, I was dancing in the palm of your hand the entire time.”

He pressed a hand to his temple and scoffed in disbelief.

“Who knows?”

Raon shrugged, letting Derus indulge in his own conclusions.

“You really are the type to struggle uselessly until the very last moment.”

Derus Robert ground his teeth coldly and bent his waist slightly. It was a posture he would never normally show, he had always maintained perfect composure.

“It’s good to finally see your true face.”

Raon smiled faintly as he met Derus’s sickly yellow eyes.

“I told you before to drop the polite speech and that warm, fake smile. That kind of evil expression suits you far better.”

He twirled his finger, saying that growling like a starving beast was much more fitting.

“So….”

Derus Robert brushed the hair fallen over his forehead aside and let out a low breath.

“What are you going to do now?”

He narrowed his eyes, as if asking what Raon planned to do after tracking him down.

“What else? Obviously, I’m going to kill—”

“By yourself?”

Derus Robert cut him off and stepped to the edge of the platform.

“No matter how strong you’ve become, you still can’t reach me.”

As he flicked his finger downward in derision, a crushing pressure weighed down on Raon’s shoulders.

“On your own, you can’t do anything—”

“That’s right. I can’t do anything by myself.”

Raon cut Derus off in return, openly acknowledging his own limitations.

“If others hadn’t helped me, I never could have accomplished any of this.”

The Black Market and the Shadow Agents had gathered information. Evelyn personally scoured the locations to identify where barriers were installed. Meanwhile, Chamber, Larian, and many other mages combined their efforts to develop dimensional magic capable of piercing divine power.

At the same time, the swordsmen of Zieghart continued relentless training, steadily raising their strength. Because of that preparation, they were able to suppress Heaven and the divine land without suffering major losses.

I had put in tremendous effort as well, but without my companions, I would not have been able to accomplish a single thing.

“Hmm….”

Derus Robert frowned deeply in one eye, clearly not expecting Raon to accept his mockery so readily.

“So, I intend to rely on help this time as well.”

Raon stepped slightly aside, making room for Glenn to come forward.

“My grandfather is the strongest person on this continent. Given that, it’d be ridiculous not to use that strength, wouldn’t it?”

He nodded openly, making no attempt to hide the fact that he intended to rely on Glenn’s strength.

“Ahem!”

Caught off guard by the blunt praise, Glenn’s cheeks reddened slightly as he let out an awkward cough.

That doting geezer, even now…

Wrath sighed heavily, sounding utterly fed up.

“Khahahahaha!”

Derus Robert burst into manic laughter, clutching his forehead.

“Fine. Your grandfather, Glenn Zieghart, the Destructive King of the North is strong. Even now, I can’t defeat him.”

His grin twisted as he drew the sword at his waist.

“But if that old man wants to kill me, he’ll have to stake his very life. No, whether he dies or not, he’ll be forced to leave this world!”

Derus scoffed, implying that even Glenn couldn’t defeat him without going all out.

“Ascension. Those whose might reaches the heavens are ultimately forced to leave this continent and rise to a new land. That monster has long since prepared for ascension.”

He tapped his forehead mockingly.

“No, he should have ascended a long time ago. He’s only been forcibly holding himself back because of you.”

“If your grandfather wants to face me, he’ll have to release the limits on his power. And the moment he does, he won’t be able to escape the net of the heavens.”

Derus raised a finger, saying that fighting him meant Glenn would inevitably leave the continent.

“So you’re willing to sacrifice your grandfather just to kill me? Figures. That’s exactly what I’d expect from you, Raon!”

He snickered, emphasizing the name “Raon” rather than Raon Zieghart.

“The thorn in my side, Glenn Zieghart, disappearing? If anything, that works in my favor. I’ll stake my own soul and endure it!”

“Who said I’d send my grandfather alone?”

Raon stood behind Glenn, gripping the divine sword and the demonic sword tightly.

“I’ll protect him from behind. That way, he won’t need to use his full power to kill you.”

With a confident tilt of his chin, ten rings of fire resonated at once.

Just like when he killed Raphael, time seemed to fracture and slow, and the energies of all things in the world began to reveal themselves with terrifying clarity.

“Are you serious?”

Derus Robert curled his fingers, unable to comprehend what he was hearing.

“Not just you, your grandfather will die too.”

He tightened his grip on his sword, warning that a careless fight would result in both Glenn and Raon being killed by him.

“They say a parent can never win against their child. A grandfather has no choice but to yield to his grandson.”

Glenn nodded calmly, as if he intended to follow Raon’s words exactly.

“Both of you have lost your minds!”

Derus bit down hard on his lips, humiliated and enraged that Raon would dare confront him directly instead of leaving the fight to Glenn alone.

“Fine. I’ll make it perfectly clear just how stupid a decision you’ve made!”

Declaring that he would kill Raon and Glenn together right here, Derus Robert wreathed his sword in pitch-black darkness and stepped down from the platform.

“Be careful.”

Glenn lowered his stance slightly and raised Heavenly Tremor.

“That’s not ordinary aura. It’s the energy of death.”

He dipped his chin, warning that merely touching it would tear souls apart and rot flesh.

“Yes. I know.”

Raon answered calmly, exhaling slowly.

‘I know better than anyone.’

The energy of death was the most wicked and powerful energy in existence, but I possessed traits that allowed me to block it and cut through it. As long as I was properly prepared, I could endure it better than most.

Chiaaaaaaang!

As if he had no intention of wasting any more words, Derus Robert smashed the platform and came down in a single motion, bringing his blackened blade crashing down.

His sword stretched unnaturally long, like pulled taffy, carving a pitch-black line that seemed to split sky and earth.

“Don’t block it, evade.”

Hearing Glenn’s shout, Raon activated the Supreme Harmony Steps. Using the flowing softness of the footwork, he slipped past Derus Robert’s crushing assault and unleashed the Azure Sky Sword.

Thooom!

As if perfectly synchronized, Glenn also evaded Derus’s strike with the same Supreme Harmony Steps and swept upward with the Azure Sky Sword art.

Chiaaaaaaang!

However, the forms of the Azure Sky Sword they chose were different.

Raon unleashed the Azure Sky’s Shattering Sky, a form that violently smashes apart the vast sky itself, while Glenn used the Azure Sky’s Grand Elegance, a form that revered and contained the lofty sky.

“Hmph!”

Derus Robert snorted as if to scoff at the visible forms of the Azure Sky Sword, then hurled his pitch-black, blazing sword forward.
Following the sword arc he unleashed, black flames spiraled violently, swelling into a massive, rotating dragon-like vortex.

Kugugugugugugu!

Just as he had declared earlier, Derus revealed a terrifying might that would sweep away even Transcenders like paper scraps.

“Ugh….”

Raon bit his lip hard, pushed back by Derus’s sinister energy, which shook even his ten rings.

“There’s no need for you to retreat.”

Glenn stepped in front of Raon with a warm smile.

“This time, I’ll protect you.”

With his low voice, Heavenly Tremor thrust forward.

Hoooooong!

Azure Sky’s Grand Elegance, which embodies the tall and upright sky itself, cleaved through the black, blazing vortex, splitting the dragon-like storm cleanly in half, as if brushing away dark clouds.

“Go.”

“Yes!”

Without looking back, Raon surged forward, lowering the divine sword and the demonic sword toward the ground.

Jijijijijik!

The energy carried by the twin blades as they carved upward from the ground was pure will, the will to shatter the sky itself.
The ultimate form of the Azure Sky Sword, Azure Sky’s Shattering Sky, advanced forward, inheriting and riding the flow created by the Azure Sky’s Grand Elegance.

“Hng!”

Derus Robert tried to bring down the sword he had drawn back to his right for defense, but the speed of Azure Sky’s Shattering Sky, combined with the flow of Azure Sky’s Grand Elegance, was frighteningly fast.

Kraaaaaack!

Using the same footwork and the same sword technique, the combined martial arts of grandfather and grandson pierced straight through the chest of the devil cloaked in death.
