The Reincarnated Assassin is a Genius Swordsman 1218

 Chapter 1218

Immediately after Raon offered his desires, a tower formed for him in Heaven—

Chzzzzzt!

Evelyn gathered blue mana above her purple hair. As her fingers moved briskly, like she was playing a piano, the flow of mana twisted, and two separate dimensions were forcibly opened at the same time.

[Hehehe! So this is that famous new lemon candy— hyaak!]

The first person to appear through one of the dimensions was Chamber, the Archmage of Eternal Flame.

She had been about to stuff her mouth full of yellow candies, but the moment she saw Evelyn’s face, she sucked in a sharp breath.

[W-What the! Why are you here!]

Chamber jumped out of her chair like a startled rabbit, spitting out every single piece of candy she had just popped into her mouth.

[I-I can finally slee... Gack!]

Naturally, the figure in the second dimension was Larian, the master of Magic Tower. She, too, snapped her eyes wide open at Evelyn's sudden appearance, having been half-asleep just moments before.

[H-How did you even open this dimension…?]

As if utterly shocked that Evelyn had intruded directly into her personal space, all the drowsiness vanished from Larian’s face, and her fingers trembled slightly.

“Sisters! It’s been a while!”

Evelyn waved both hands enthusiastically at the startled Chamber and Larian.

“S-Sister? Am I really hearing that? No, more importantly, it’s dawn right now—”

"Hey, you brat! It hasn't been a long time!"

Chamber shoved the awkwardly greeting Larian aside and shouted.

“What do you think you’re doing?! Why sneak in through the back door instead of using the emergency network?!”

She furrowed her brow, demanding to know why Evelyn had dug a new back door instead of using the front entrance.

“Something extremely important happened. If this were discovered, my man could die.”

Evelyn clasped her hands together apologetically.

“Your man? Don’t tell me… Raon?”

Chamber narrowed her eyes at Evelyn.

“Since when is Raon your man? And more importantly, why is he in danger?”

She spread her hands, urging her to explain quickly.

“Raon is on a secret mission right now.”

Evelyn raised a finger to her red lips.

“As you know, we have no idea where Derus Robert’s spies might be hiding. That’s why I contacted you this way.”

She lowered her shoulders slightly, asking them to understand just this once.

“A s-secret mission?”

Larian leaned closer to the dimensional opening, clearly intrigued by the word “secret.”

“Yes. To put it simply…”

Evelyn briefly explained Raon’s current situation.

“So you’re saying we need to teleport several hundred people to a place you’ve never even been to, and whose location is extremely hard to pinpoint?”

Chamber let out a hollow laugh in disbelief.

“And it’s saturated with divine power instead of mana, guarded around the clock by celestials.”

Larian furrowed her brows deeply, clearly recognizing how absurdly difficult it was.

“That’s right. It’s not easy. No, it’s close to impossible.”

Evelyn nodded immediately, saying that was exactly why she had come to them.

“Something like that…”

Chamber glared at Evelyn, brows tightly knit.

"Why are you only telling me this now? That sounds amazing!"

She clenched her small fist, looking as if she liked it even more because it was nearly impossible.

“Yeah! Sounds fun!”

Larian nodded, fire lighting up her eyes despite her lingering sleepiness.

“Breaking through divine power using mana… that’s incredibly exciting.”

For Larian, this wasn’t just dangerous, it was the thrill of attempting something no mage had ever truly accomplished. The idea alone stirred the aggressive, battle-minded side she usually only showed in combat.

"I knew you two would agree to help!"

Evelyn smiled, as if this reaction had been exactly what she expected.

“We’re not helping. We just want to do it.”

“And if we figure out how to pierce divine power, it’ll help in next year’s war too!”

The two of them were already more fired up than Evelyn, nodding eagerly as their interest turned into full-blown motivation.

“Let’s get started immediately!”

“So, what’s your current observation point? Where exactly are you watching from?”

The two eagerly prepared to begin at once, forgetting that their rest had been interrupted.

Despite their very different personalities, moments like this made them look exactly like sisters.

“All right.”

Evelyn clapped her hands, and the information she had gathered floated up above Chamber’s and Larian’s heads.

“Let’s begin immediately. Oh, before that…”

She floated Derus Robert's face over the information of the Land of Clouds and Heaven, drawing a chilling smile.

“There’s one very important request from Raon.”

*   *   *

“W-What? An archangel is already descending? Matching the timing perfectly won’t be easy.”

Chamber lightly bit her lip as she adjusted the magic circle.

“Huu…”

Larian released a quiet breath, pouring every ounce of focus into her spell.

“We can do this.”

Evelyn continued to manipulate mana with extreme precision, smiling softly as she said that with the two of them working alongside her, success was guaranteed.

Wooooooong!

The wills of three mages who had reached Transcendence intertwined, and a blue dimensional gate began forming in front of Zieghart’s lord’s manor.

"Hnghhh.. we have to fight celestials now too?..."

Dorian gulped dryly as he watched Raon’s Tower of Babel appear within the blue dimensional gate.

“What’s the big deal about celestials? Cut their necks and they die just the same.”

Krein rested his hand on his sword, saying that celestials or humans made no difference once they were dead.

“Our idiot Krein finally said something right for once.”

Martha grinned as she draped an arm over Krein’s shoulder.

“She’s right. Celestials aren’t anything special.”

She nodded, confident that the current Light Wind Palace could win.

“Don’t get arrogant before the fight even starts.”

Burren calmly waved his hand.

“That said, after all the training we’ve endured, it’s fine to be confident.”

He nodded heavily, urging them to remember the training they had survived with their own bodies.

“It was even worse than when the palace master was around.”

Trevin gave a light whistle, remarking that he had nearly died during training.

“……”

Runaan said nothing, silently watching the dimensional gate as it continued to grow larger.

“Raon…”

With her usual blank expression now wrapped in a cold energy, she hugged Heavenly Drive and Wooden Ring Sword tightly to her chest, the swords Raon had entrusted to her.

“It’s about to begin.”

Rector nodded as he stood before the dimensional gate, which had risen to the brink of fully opening.

“Indeed.”

Glenn stood beside him, calmly closing and reopening his eyes.

“That child always throws himself in first.”

Rector smacked his lips lightly as Raon’s face appeared reflected within the dimensional gate.

“He’s been like that since the day he was born.”

Glenn smiled gently, recalling Raon’s childhood.

"Since our grandson has set the table perfectly, we should at least pick up the forks."

Rector clenched his prosthetic fist, saying it was time to return what he had received from Raon.

"I think the same. If Raon has done this much, we should handle the rest ourselves."

Glenn nodded, resolving to finally unleash his full strength.

“And thank you, in-law. Thanks to you, this arm finally feels like it belongs to me.”

Rector grasped his prosthetic with his left hand and dipped his chin heavily.

“Someone once told me that family shouldn’t say things like that.”

Glenn waved a hand, recalling words he had once heard from Raon.

“I see.”

Rector let out a quiet chuckle, remembering that he, too, had heard those same words.

Shraaaak!

Just as their conversation ended, the scene of Raon slicing the neck of the brilliantly descended archangel Raphael was reflected in the dimensional gate.

"Just as expected of my grandson!"

"Just as expected of my grandson!"

Without missing a beat, Glenn and Rector both raised their fists, declaring Raon their grandson. Unlike before, they exchanged glances and shared quiet smiles.

“G-Grandfathers! You have to go in now!”

Evelyn bit her lip, saying that they had to enter immediately if they were going to save Raon.

“Don’t worry.”

“We won’t be late.”

Glenn and Rector waved a hand reassuringly at the flustered Evelyn, then stepped forward before the trembling dimensional gate.

“Let’s go.”

"Let us do so."

As the gate opened fully, the two of them bumped fists, like partners who had fought together their entire lives, and leapt into the blue light without a moment’s hesitation.

*   *   *

“Kwahahahaha! Wipe them all out!”

Balder roared with wild laughter, exhilarated by the long-awaited battlefield, as he tore through celestials and Derus’s subordinates alike.

“I told you! Celestials aren’t anything special!”

Martha poured out a fighting spirit fierce enough to rival Balder’s, slamming her sword down and crushing the celestials into pools of crimson.

“Y-Yeah! They’re weaker than I expected!”

Though still visibly frightened, Dorian’s sword struck sharply, cutting down Derus’s subordinates one after another.

“No, it’s not that they’re weak. We’ve gotten stronger!”

Krein smacked his lips, saying that everyone in the Light Wind Palace had grown significantly through their training.

“So it’s you…”

Runaan summoned a raging storm of frost with her sword, as if determined to end every war right here and now, shredding the celestials mercilessly.

“Calm yourselves! The battle has only just begun!”

Standing at the center of the battlefield, Burren issued commands worthy of the Light Wind Palace’s vice master, supporting the swordsmen on all sides.

“Hah.”

Raon let out a hollow laugh as he sensed how sharply the might and fighting spirit of the Light Wind Palace swordsmen had risen in the time he hadn’t seen them.

‘They must’ve gone through hell too.’

I had thought that I alone had suffered the most by entering the very heart of Derus’s territory by myself. But as I watched them now, it occurred to me that those who had remained behind in Zieghart, enduring mental strain and relentless training, had suffered just as much.

“R-Reinforcements!”

“The elite celestials are finally arriving!”

“Fight to the very end! We can win!”

“Bury Zieghart right here!”

Seeing the elite of the celestials descend from the sky after having been driven back helplessly, Derus’s subordinates reignited their fighting spirit and raised their weapons once more.

“The elite of the celestials, huh.”

“Hmph.”

Glenn and Rector raised their swords toward the sky from which the elite of the celestials were descending.

The sword strikes unleashed by the two absolute swordsmen split the blue sky into four pieces. The bodies of the elite of the celestials caught between the paths of those blades were cleaved apart exactly as they were, and the once-blue sky was dyed red, as though sunset had suddenly fallen.

Thudududud!

With a single strike apiece, Glenn and Rector cut down every elite celestial descending from the sky, sending a rain of blood pouring down.

‘Grandfather…’

Raon pressed his lips tightly together as he felt the affection and worry for him embedded within Glenn’s and Rector’s swords.

'They must have been incredibly worried too.'

The two men poured everything they had built up into their swords, literally blowing apart every enemy present.

“Ugh…!”

“N-No!”

“This is impossible!”

“We can’t win!”

R-Retreat!”

Overwhelmed by the one-sided turn of the battle, the celestials and Derus’s subordinates turned pale and did nothing but stagger backward. As everyone retreated, the gravely wounded Derus Robert ended up standing at the very front.

“Haaah…”

Clutching his bleeding chest, Derus Robert let out a powerless laugh.

“To think Raphael would die, and that Heaven itself would be exposed, at this point, it was something I never even imagined.”

He nodded as he spoke aloud of everything that had occurred here.

“I put a great deal of thought into perfecting this body, but I never expected it to be ruined like this. The loss is enormous…”

Derus Robert furrowed his brow, implying that the body of Priest Srude had other uses.

“Calling this ‘fun’ at this point would only sound like empty bravado.”

He gave a faint chuckle and brushed his blood-soaked hair back with a trembling hand.

“I admit it. I was completely outplayed by you, Raon Zieghart.”

Derus Robert admitted his defeat and vomited black blood from his mouth.

“But the war has not yet begun.”

He raised the index finger of his left hand.

“Not by you, but on the day I declared, everything will begin!”

“What?”

Raon frowned, as if he did not understand what Derus meant.

“Until we meet again.”

As Derus Robert snapped his finger, his body began to swell like bread in an oven.

“Dodge!”

“Get back!”

The moment Glenn and Rector stepped in front of Derus Robert, his body exploded in a flash of light, releasing a tremendous shockwave.

Fortunately, because the two of them blocked it, the Zieghart swordsmen behind them suffered no damage at all.

He blew up his avatar and ran away!

Wrath frowned deeply.

What a filthy coward!

He clicked his tongue, saying it seemed Derus Robert had planned this from the very beginning.

‘I knew it.’

Raon nodded calmly as he looked at the ground, blackened by the aftermath of Derus detonating priest Srude’s body.

'That's why I made a request in advance.'

He turned and looked at Evelyn.

"Yup! Ready!"

Evelyn raised her thumb, signaling she was ready to begin immediately.

“We’ll need your help as well.”

Raon stepped beside Glenn and Rector and bowed deeply. When he slowly lifted his head, golden heat flared within his eyes.

“Let’s catch the rat that ran away.”
