The Reincarnated Assassin is a Genius Swordsman 1187

 Chapter 1187

“Not long ago, I organized the enlightenment I’ve accumulated so far and compiled it into a martial arts manual.”

Glenn forced strength into his gaze, lowering his voice slightly as he spoke with deliberate seriousness.

“I intend to give that book to the Light Wind Palace master, who has achieved an unprecedented feat.”

He nodded, saying that he would give Raon a book containing his own enlightenment as a reward.

“Hmm?”

Raon’s eyes widened as he listened to Glenn’s words.

‘It’s more modest than I expected.’

I had been worried about what he should do if Glenn decided to give me every treasure possessed by Zieghart, but compared to that, this was a far more ordinary reward.

‘Not bad.’

To be honest, artifacts or elixirs would not be of much help to my current level of might. This wasn’t meant to belittle Glenn’s enlightenment in any way, but a single book was not an excessive or burdensome reward.

Eeh?

Wrath tilted his head.

What’s gotten into that geezer? His eyes were so crazed that it wouldn’t have been strange for him to give you the entire house!

Saying it was strange, he blinked repeatedly.

“Hm….”

“Isn’t that a bit little?”

“Yeah. He killed the Dragon Lord, but the reward feels smaller than expected.”

“No way! It’s a book containing the head of house’s enlightenment. You can’t get that anywhere!”

“Even so, for a feat that changed the tide of the war, it’s a bit lacking.”

“But it’s also true that there’s hardly anything suitable to give the Light Wind Palace master. What are you supposed to give someone who’s already at the high level of Transcendence?”

The executives tilted their heads as well, saying that Glenn’s reward seemed too stingy compared to Raon’s achievement.

“Ahem!”

As if he had been waiting precisely for those words, Glenn cleared his throat and his eyes gleamed.

“As you say, compared to the Light Wind Palace master’s accomplishments, it does seem rather small. And moreover….”

Unlike usual, he said that he would fully take the executives’ opinions into account and smacked his lips.

“Thinking about it, the book I intended to give the Light Wind Palace master was not written to be shown to others, but for my own reflection and further progress. Reading it alone would make it difficult to understand.”

Glenn shook his head, saying that even if it were Raon, understanding a martial manual he had created would be difficult to do alone.

“In that case, it would be better for me to go personally and give instruction, until the Light Wind Palace fully internalizes the contents of the book.”

As if he had planned to teach Raon directly from the very beginning, the corners of his curled-up lips trembled.

“The head of house will teach him personally?”

“And not even at the head of house’s training ground, he’s going to the annex building himself?”

“Wow, you’ve got to admit, that’s fair!”

“The Light Wind Palace Master killed the Dragon Lord, so it’s not strange for the head of house to step in personally!”

“Isn’t the annex building going to become even stronger?”

The executives smiled, saying that this was now a reward they could accept.

“One-on-one instruction from father, how enviable! So when are you going to make my martial manual?”

Balder spun his thick fingers, saying he didn’t care about anything else and just wanted his own martial arts made.

“That certainly sounds appropriate….”

Karoon crossed his arms and closed his eyes, as if he too found it acceptable.

‘Grandfather’s instruction….’

Raon smacked his lips as he looked at Glenn, whose shoulders were trembling with excitement.

‘That’s a reward that will be a huge help.’

Glenn was still an absolute warrior standing far above me. Just having him explain the path he walked first would allow me to build a very large and high foothold.

‘But still….’

It feels like a reward that grandfather would enjoy more than I would.

Glenn, before being his grandfather, was the head of house of Zieghart, and thus restrained himself from showing excessive favoritism to one side.

But this time, using the reward as an excuse, it seemed he intended to stay in the annex building and spend a great deal of time with him and Sia.

As expected, he’s a hopeless doting geezer!

Wrath snorted, as if he had known this would happen.

Just look at him, he’s planning to stick to you like cheese on toast and never let go!

Clicking his tongue, he said it would probably get annoying for a while.

But why didn’t he just say that from the start? What was the point of dragging it out!

Wrath frowned, saying he didn’t understand Glenn’s intentions.

‘It’s because of me.’

Raon formed a faint smile as he met Glenn’s gentle gaze.

‘I think he wants to enjoy watching the other executives recognize my achievements.’

Rather than proposing it himself, Glenn clearly wanted to see the executives acknowledge Raon first and demand a greater reward on their own. Feeling that intent, Raon found himself smiling naturally.

“Additionally, I’ll grant you permission to enter Zieghart’s treasury ten times.”

As if it were still not enough, Glenn brought up another reward.

“Ten times into the treasury.”

“Honestly, it wouldn’t even be strange to give him the entire treasury.”

“With the head of house’s instruction as a reward, that’s probably just extra.”

The swordsmen nodded, saying that even this alone was more than an acceptable reward.

“Hmm! Then on top of that, I’ll also expand the territory of the Light Wind Palace. I’ll have it expanded by as much land as it currently holds. First, we’ll construct the buildings, and at the same time, grant priority access to information from the Shadow Agents….”

Glenn continued listing additional rewards, folding down his fingers as if it were still not enough. His eyes gradually began to be dyed with madness.

“Stop!”

Stop!

Raon and Wrath shouted at the same time as they looked at Glenn’s mouth, opened so wide it looked like drool might spill out.

“You can stop now!”

Stop it already!

*   *   *

Knock, knock.

Cubara, dressed in neat formal wear, knocked on the door of the black study.

“Enter.”

A calm voice came from beyond the polished door, gleaming as if oiled.

“…….”

After taking a brief breath, Cubara opened the heavy door and stepped into the study.

“What is it?”

Derus Robert, a handsome middle-aged man with long silver hair, reading a book with no title, tilted his chin slightly without even lifting his gaze.

“I told you not to disturb me unless it was important, didn’t I?”

As if reading the nameless book was more important than anything else, he openly displayed his displeasure.

“I apologize.”

Cubara bowed her head without even wiping away the cold sweat running down her forehead.

“However, this is something that must be reported.”

She raised her gaze straight, saying it was not something that could be ignored.

“You’ve never spoken nonsense before.”

Derus smacked his lips briefly and turned his eyes toward Cubara.

“Go on.”

As if he intended to listen properly, he closed the nameless book.

“We have lost contact with Trosour, the leader of the Black Dragon tribe, who had been in regular contact with us.”

Cubara shook her head, saying they could no longer reach Trosour, the Black Dragon’s leader.

“That can’t be all, can it?”

Derus narrowed his eyes to thin slits, as though he expected more.

“Yes. To assess the situation, we went to Trosour’s nest. On the surface, nothing seemed out of place, but….”

Continuing with a chilling gaze, Cubara spoke on.

“There were traces of battle. It appears that someone killed Trosour.”

She nodded while lifting an orb imbued with divine power.

“And just in case, we checked the leaders of the other tribes as well, but we could not establish contact with the Red tribe or the Blue tribe either.”

Cubara frowned, saying that it seemed three tribal leaders had died in an impossibly short span of time.

“My guess is….”

“That even the Dragon Lord has died.”

Derus Robert pressed his finger down onto the nameless book.

“I know that Ignis Cierfang, Azgoros, and Trosour were hiding the Dragon Lord in another dimension. If all three disappeared at once, there’s a strong chance the Dragon Lord is dead as well.”

Even with only limited information while seated, his eyes gleamed with intelligence, as though he had grasped everything.

“…That is correct.”

Cubara nodded, agreeing that Derus’s assessment was accurate.

“Whose doing was it?”

Derus lowered his brows slightly, as if that much he could not yet determine.

“We weren’t able to determine for certain whether the Dragon Lord is dead, but the person believed to have killed Trosour, the leader of the Black tribe, is….”

Cubara bowed her head as she extended the glass orb forward.

“Raon Zieghart.”

She let out a low breath, saying that Raon Zieghart’s energy had remained around Trosour’s nest.

“Raon Zieghart.”

Derus formed a thin smile.

“That fellow again.”

Even upon hearing Raon’s name, he nodded calmly.

“The Dragon Lord and the ancient dragons were important forces meant to deal with Transcenders in the final war. What a shame.”

He spoke as if it were a major problem, yet maintained a composed complexion.

“Where did the information leak from?”

Derus furrowed his brows, questioning how Raon had known to slay the tribal leaders in order to reach the Dragon Lord.

“I will look into it immediately.”

Cubara bowed, saying she would gather information on Zieghart.

“No, there is something more important than that.”

Derus raised his hand to stop Cubara as she was about to leave the study.

“If the Dragon Lord and the ancient dragons are gone, the outcome of the war may change. Rather than spending time gathering information on Raon, gather more sacrifices.”

He clenched his fist, saying that sacrifices were more important right now.

“It doesn’t matter if we’re exposed anymore. Squeeze the humans dry so we can extract as much divine power as possible.”

Derus shook his head, saying he would deal with Raon himself.

“Understood.”

Cubara bent at the waist as if to move immediately, then left Derus’s study.

“Raon Zieghart.”

The moment Cubara left the study, Derus raised his fist and smashed it down onto the desk. Unlike just moments before, murderous intent surged in his eyes as if it were about to explode.

“Should I kill him right now? If it’s just that one bastard, I could kill him even now.”

Derus ground his teeth as he stared at the desk, which had vanished without leaving even a speck of dust behind.

“No. He has to survive and do that for me.”

Watching blood seep from inside his black leather glove, he formed a sinister smile.

“It really won’t be long now….”

*   *   *

What?

Wrath widened his eyes.

What did you just say?

Tilting his head as if he couldn’t understand, he stared.

“If it’s Derus Robert, he’ll be able to tell that the tribe leaders are dead, and that the Dragon Lord is dead too.”

Raon flicked his chin toward Wrath as he took off his clothes and hung them up.

That’s impossible….

Wrath frowned, saying it hadn’t even been a week since the Dragon Lord died.

Isn’t that far too fast!

No matter how special Derus might be, he shook his head, saying he wouldn’t be able to know that quickly.

“No. If it’s him, he’ll know. That’s just the kind of bastard he is.”

Raon smiled, as though he could see right through Derus Robert.

Then the surprise attack will also fail….

“That’s different.”

He shook his hand decisively.

“If it’s Derus, he’ll be furious, but at the same time, he’ll start devising a new plan to restore the forces he’s lost. In other words, his attention will be elsewhere, which will actually make it easier to target him.”

Clenching his fist, Raon said that they needed to seize that opportunity.

Ha….

Wrath let out a hollow laugh, as if he were dumbfounded.

You and that bastard… you’re both truly strange.

Shaking his head, he said he couldn’t understand either Raon or Derus.

“Of course, Evelyn, the Shadow Agents, and the Black Market will have to move properly.”

If it was Evelyn, she might be able to track down Derus Robert’s location using the black booklet the Dragon Lord had left behind. We couldn’t afford to miss this chance, one that had come after a very long time, to plunge a dagger into that bastard’s chest.

“I also—”

“Don’t worry!”

Just as Raon was about to continue speaking, the eyes of the doll standing in the room flashed purple, and Evelyn’s voice burst out.

“Gah!”

Gwaaaaaah!

Raon and Wrath screamed at Evelyn’s sudden appearance.

“Just trust me!”

After leaving those words behind, the doll possessed by Evelyn fell silent, the light fading from its eyes.

Ah….

Wrath tapped the doll a few times and pressed his lips together.

Th-that madwoman is a seriously deranged pervert!

Swallowing dryly, he said he never imagined he was being watched through a doll.

‘Seriously. She’s moved on from animals to even inanimate objects now….’

Raon let out a sigh as he rubbed his churning chest.

‘Even if I’m alone, it’s better to speak internally.’

Since he didn't know where Evelyn might be watching, it seemed better to always converse with Wrath internally.

‘My chest still hurts. I should relax a bit by enjoying something good.’

Thinking he needed to calm his tense nerves because of Evelyn, he lowered his hand.

S-Something good? Then the King of Essence wants some too!

Wrath smacked his lips as he asked what Raon had prepared.

‘You’ll like it too.’

Raon smiled softly and spread his hand.

[You have slain the King of Dragons!]

[You have toyed with <Envy>!]

[You have achieved a great feat!]

[All stats increase by 100 points.]

[New trait….]

He summoned the rewards he had received for killing the Dragon Lord but had not properly checked.

Uuugh!

Wrath screamed as he looked at the reward messages floating before his eyes, clearly not expecting this.

Y-you said you were going to enjoy good food, so why are you suddenly pulling that up?!

‘I never said food. And it is something good, isn’t it?’

Raon smacked his lips slowly as he looked at the rewards filling his vision.

‘It’s a very sweet reward.’

Stop teasing the King of Essence already! After that madwoman, he nearly had a heart attack!

Wrath screamed, begging him to stop.

‘You don’t even have a heart right now.’

Raon tilted his head as he looked at Wrath’s faint spirit body.

That’s not what ‘having a heart attack’ means!

You human bastard, colder than a Demon King!
