The Reincarnated Assassin is a Genius Swordsman 1201

 Chapter 1201

What…?

Wrath narrowed his eyes.

The Demon Kings’ authorities are the path to Heaven?

He tilted his chin as if he couldn’t understand what that was supposed to mean.

I could tell because I’ve been here, watching people.

Raon nodded with certainty.

‘They’re collecting negative emotions, the very ones that are the Demon Kings’ authorities.’

After staying here for the past week and watching many things, I had reached a definite conclusion.

This place called the Land of Clouds was no different from a pigpen designed to gather negative emotions by helping humans fulfill the desires they wanted.

The reason Evelyn and Denning Rose had noticed the movement of supplies across the continent was also because enormous resources were being consumed in places like this.

‘At first, I couldn’t believe it either.’

Raon pressed his lips together as he looked over the food laid out before him and the luxurious houses.

‘That Derus Robert and the archangels would use the same emotions as the Demon Kings.’

Since the Land of Clouds was a space created by archangels, I had naturally thought it was a place meant to gather divine power.

But what they wanted was the exact opposite, humans’ primal emotions.

Seeing how those who revealed more negative emotions were more highly acknowledged by the executives only made my hypothesis even more certain.

S-So that’s how it is!

Wrath opened his mouth in a round shape, as if he finally understood.

The King of Essence, thought it was just because the food tasted good… but those damned bastards were hiding filthy ulterior motives!

He ground his teeth, admitting that he had been blinded by the lavish spread laid out before their eyes.

‘That’s why I need to show something even uglier.’

Raon activated <Gluttony> and greedily shoved the food filling the table into his mouth.

“Your appetite is impressive again today.”

Kuanura approached from the side and smiled faintly.

“I don’t know how you managed to hide such desires until now.”

He clapped his hands, as if Raon’s change amazed him.

“It couldn’t be helped.”

Raon twisted his lips upward as he spoke casually to Kuanura.

“On the ground, I was weak, penniless, and had no backing! But here, I can do anything!”

He bared his teeth and laughed, as if he had completely fallen for the temptations that existed in the Land of Clouds.

“Indeed. This place is exactly like that.”

Kuanura smiled gently, as though Raon speaking casually to him didn’t bother him at all.

“From now on, achieve everything you desire. If it’s you, Mr. Jilpen, you should be able to reach true Heaven as well.”

He nodded, saying he believed in Raon’s abilities.

“Heaven? Just when exactly are we supposed to go to Heaven?”

Raon frowned, complaining that he was bored.

“Please don’t worry. As I said before, Mr. Jilpen will definitely set foot on that land.”

Kuanura smiled reassuringly and clasped his hands together.

“Of course! This place is already the Heaven I imagined, so I’m curious what the real Heaven is like!”

Raon stamped his foot, his eyes already soaked in desire for alcohol, food, and money.

“I’ll look forward to it.”

Leaving those words behind, Kuanura walked off toward where the other people were gathered.

“Kuh….”

Raon paid no attention to Kuanura as he left and poured alcohol straight into his mouth.

What exactly is that guy called a branch manager even doing?

Wrath frowned as he glared at Kuanura.

If you ask for food, he gives food, if you ask for a house, he gives a house, if you ask for money, he gives money, he’s just a complete doormat!”

He let out a hollow laugh, saying he had never seen such a doormat in his life.

‘I see them all the time, though?’

Raon looked at Wrath with sullen eyes.

What—what is that supposed to mean! Why are you looking at the King of Essence when you’re talking about  doormats!

Wrath waved his hands fiercely, telling him not to look at him.

‘And they aren’t doormats.’

Raon chuckled and tapped the table strewn with food and alcohol.

They’re not?

‘That’s right. Kuanura and the other executives of the Land of Clouds are screening the livestock here.’

Kuanura wasn’t mindlessly handing out money and food.

They were searching with burning eyes, who could possess the most negative emotions, who could gather negative emotions the fastest, and who could produce the highest-quality emotions.

In fact, those who, in their judgment, possessed the greatest desire disappeared from the Land of Clouds before long. It was clear they had been moved to that ‘Heaven.

‘I don’t know what kind of place Heaven is, but…’

Raon twisted his lips as he tore into a chicken leg smeared with sauce.

‘I’ll smash whatever it is.’

There wasn’t much time left for this kind of livestock-like life.

Judging by Kuanura’s gaze and the movements of others, it was clear that I, too, would soon be taken to Heaven.

That you figured all that out in such a short time… you really are…

Wrath wrinkled the bridge of his nose, saying that Raon’s insight was absurd every time he saw it.

‘It was obvious.’

Raon clicked his tongue briefly as he looked at the humans whose eyes had gone wild, drowned in desire.

‘I possess all of the Demon Kings’ authorities.’

By coming to understand human emotions, I had also grown more familiar with the Demon Kings’ authorities, and the moment I saw the humans raised here, I immediately understood what Derus and the celestials were after.

‘At first, I wanted to destroy everything…’

But now was the time to wait.

I was furious at Derus and the celestials who treated people like livestock and wanted to bring this Land of Clouds crashing down immediately, but I couldn’t move yet.

To shatter Derus’s plan itself, I had to go to Heaven and drive the blade in all at once.

That makes sense.

Wrath nodded, saying he’d thought it through well.

But then why didn’t you use the King of Essence’s wrath?

He tilted his head, asking why Raon used the other Demon Kings’ authorities but left wrath alone.

‘How am I supposed to use wrath here?’

Raon shook his head, saying that was absolutely forbidden.

‘If I get treated as a crazy guy with anger management issues, I’ll never get to go to Heaven.’

Wrath’s authority might have been the most familiar to me, but showing intense anger in a place like this would have gotten me expelled immediately, or even sent somewhere other than Heaven. Right now, I had to act the part of obedient livestock.

A-Anger-management issues?! Don’t call the King of Essence’s power something so ridiculous!

‘Yeah. Right now, that’s exactly what it is, anger management issues.’

Raon flicked his hand toward Wrath, who was raging like fire.

‘If I get angry like you are now, who do you think would like that? I'd be kicked out immediately.’

Grrrgh….

Wrath bit his lip and let out a groan, as if he had nothing to say in response.

‘Just wait a little longer.’

Raon shoved the seasoning on his hands into his mouth and smiled chillingly.

‘I’ll let you taste Heaven’s delicacies soon enough.’

*   *   *

Thud!

Kuanura, the man known as the branch manager of the Land of Clouds, dropped to his knees before the pitch-black darkness.

“You’ve arrived.”

Maintaining a respectful posture, he bent at the waist and pressed his head to the ground.

Wooooong.

The darkness rippled as if it understood Kuanura’s words, then took on the shape of a tall man, shimmering like sunlight.

“How is the next offering coming along?”

The man who emerged from the darkness looked down at Kuanura, his golden eyes flashing.

“Once again, high-grade livestock has arrived. One of them hasn’t even been here a week, yet has already qualified to go to Heaven.”

Kuanura bowed his head again, saying he was diligently preparing the offerings.

“In just one week?”

The man wrapped in darkness let out a low exclamation of surprise.

“Yes. He was a livestock I had my eye on from the outside, and as expected, he did not disappoint.”

Calling it interesting material, Kuanura curled his lips into a smile.

“Is there any chance it harbors impure intentions?”

The man shrouded in darkness narrowed his eyes suspiciously.

“Absolutely not. It didn’t fall for any of the traps we used, and there was no reaction from the barrier either.”

Kuanura shook his head firmly.

“You know this as well Sir. Even if someone gets lucky and passes the first barrier, the barrier installed in the grass was created by him. A human can never escape it.”

He revealed a gaze full of confidence, insisting that the barrier engraved into the grass could never be deceived.

“Well, that’s true.”

The man cloaked in darkness nodded, admitting he had to acknowledge that.

“That mercenary has no background and no talent, a mere worm. He has always been oppressed on the outside and was never acknowledged by anyone. The resentment he harbored toward that treatment caused the desire burning endlessly in his heart to erupt here. He’s nothing more than one of those occasionally appearing livestock with some talent.”

Kuanura drew a faint smile, saying this wasn’t the first time he had seen such a case.

“Judging by that livestock’s rate of growth, it will be a great help even in Heaven. Take it with you this time.”

His eyes glinted with desire, much like those of the humans in the Land of Clouds.

“If you say so.”

The man cloaked in darkness nodded calmly, as if he trusted Kuanura.

“Very well. I’ll come to take those livestock this week.”

Telling him to make the final preparations in the meantime, he stepped back.

Wooooong.

The darkness rippled once more, and the man’s form vanished as if washed away.

Ssssss.

Even after the man disappeared, Kuanura bowed politely toward the darkness.

“When this is over, I’ll be able to go there too.”

His entire body trembled violently, as if intoxicated, brimming with overwhelming anticipation.

“Just a little more….”

Haaah….

Wrath let out a dull breath.

When is this ever going to end? He’s sick of it now!

He shook his head, saying it was unbearably boring and exhausting.

Why? Isn’t this place Heaven for you?

Raon shrugged as he looked at the table piled high with food.

‘They’re all foods you like.’

The food in the Land of Clouds was made by skilled chefs using the finest ingredients.

For a glutton like Wrath, it should have been enough to make his eyes roll back, yet Raon couldn’t understand why he was like this.

He’s sick of it!

Wrath slammed his fist down roughly.

Every single dish is too rich! Even the desserts are heavy and overly greasy!

He sniffled, saying he missed the home-cooked meals of the annex building.

‘It’s edible to me? You’re really picky.’

Raon sighed deeply, saying it was annoying to listen to his whining.

The King of Essence is not picky, this is only natural! There’s something wrong with your tongue and your stomach!

Wrath shouted that the strange one wasn’t him, but Raon.

‘Taste is important for food, but as long as it fills the stomach….’

Shut up!

‘Just listen for a second.’

Raon was calming Wrath down as he was about to erupt in anger when—

“Mr. Jilpen.”

Kuanura spoke to him for the first time in a week.

“You look even better than the last time I saw you. It seems you’re fully indulging in all the desires you possess.”

He smiled warmly, saying Raon’s face had grown far brighter.

“What nonsense! I’m still far from satisfied!”

Raon waved his hand so hard it stirred the air.

“My desires don’t end at this level! I’ll take everything this land has to offer!”

Clenching his fist, he said that he didn’t want to stay stuck here merely pursuing food and money, he wanted much more.

“Of course! Naturally.”

Kuanura’s smile deepened, as if he liked what he heard.

“For someone like you, Mr. Jilpen, I’d like to offer a new opportunity.”

He extended a flawless hand, pure as an angel’s.

“Your door has opened, Mr. Jilpen. Let us go to Heaven now.”

Saying that Raon had earned the qualification to go to Heaven, Kuanura bowed carefully.

“Heaven?”

Raon murmured the word in a trembling voice.

“Can I finally go there?”

Saying he had waited a long time, he clenched the gold coins and jewels before him in his fist.

“Yes. Normally it takes several months, or even years, but your talent is exceptional, Mr. Jilpen, so the opportunity came quickly.”

Kuanura slightly shifted his gaze, saying such cases were extremely rare.

“That’s right! Because I’m special.”

Raon let out a strange laugh, vividly acting the part of Jilpen consumed by desire.

‘It’s finally here.’

In just two weeks, the path to Heaven had opened. My heart began to race at the opportunity that had come sooner than expected.

“Before that, there is someone I’d like to introduce you to. Please follow me.”

Kuanura said the guide to Heaven had descended to the Land of Clouds and led him to the temple built in the deepest part.

“An angel, huh.”

Raon snorted as he followed Kuanura, as if he didn’t believe in the existence of angels.

“You’ll understand once you see.”

Kuanura stopped before the temple and turned back. Gracefully, he extended his hand, gesturing for him to enter.

“Fine.”

Following Kuanura’s gesture, Raon stepped inside the temple. As he entered the vast space where holy lights fell like a meteor shower, a pressure that seemed to crush the soul pressed down on him.

Goooooong.

The source of the pressure was close by. At the center of the temple stood a blond man, wings folded as he held radiant light within him.

“Come this way.”

Despite his splendid appearance, the blond man wore a benevolent smile and gently extended his hand.

“Ah….”

Raon approached the man with the appearance of an angel one step at a time, his eyes trembled as if his mind had gone blank.

‘Got him properly.’

Despite his blank gaze and awkward movements, he advanced slowly while maintaining a cold rationality.

‘That one is a real celestial.’

The door that could reach Derus Robert drew close before his eyes. He bit the inside of his tongue to suppress the surging excitement.

“I’ll see you soon.”

Derus Robert!
