The Reincarnated Assassin is a Genius Swordsman 1199

 Chapter 1199

“Hoo….”

Raon scratched the back of his head as he followed Glenn out of the annex building.

‘I really survived thanks to grandfather.’

Had he stayed there, his plan to infiltrate Derus’s faction would have collapsed due to Sylvia begging in tears, Edgar unexpectedly and coldly stating only the facts, and Sia throwing a tantrum. But because Glenn had stepped in, he was able to overcome this hurdle for now.

It wasn't just anyone, his plan, prepared over a long time, had nearly collapsed because of his family, so sighs of relief escaped him one after another.

Don’t think of it too negatively.

Wrath rolled his eyes, sensing Sylvia’s gaze still directed at them from behind.

They’re all doing that because they’re worried about you.

He smacked his lips lightly, saying that since they were family, it was only right to understand them.

‘I know.’

Raon nodded calmly.

‘I’ve caused more than one incident up to now.’

There were many times I was in danger while carrying out missions, but I had also personally caused trouble and crossed the line of death countless times.

For me, it was good because I became stronger every time I overcame a crisis, but from a parent's perspective, it would be so terrifying they would struggle to even sleep. I understood exactly why Sylvia and Edgar were worried.

Hmph. Now you’re finally making some sense.

Wrath drew a thin smile, as if he felt relieved now that Raon understood those emotions.

“This should be far enough.”

Unlike usual, Glenn stopped in front of an open clearing at the entrance of North Grave Mountain. After gazing at the dense forest for a moment, he slowly turned around.

“You prepared thoroughly.”

Glenn nodded calmly, as if he could tell how much effort had gone into the plan Raon had explained in the annex building.

“Yes. I thought this was the only way to drag out Derus Robert.”

Raon bit his lip while meeting Glenn’s serious gaze.

“There’s less than a year left until the date Derus declared war. If the war starts as scheduled, we’ll be pushed back no matter what.”

Even though I belonged to Zieghart and was the master of the Light Wind Palace, I still spoke of the Five Kings’ defeat with certainty.

‘Because Derus Robert is that kind of bastard.’

The fact that he specified the oddly precise figure of one year and one month meant he was clearly relying on something.

“I think the same.”

Glenn nodded, stroking his chin.

“I’ve clashed with Derus Robert many times. Even though he was utterly defeated each time, the fact that he spoke of a war one year and one month later means he believes he can stop me.”

He twisted his lips, saying that a schemer like Derus would undoubtedly come prepared perfectly.

“That’s why I agree with your plan.”

Glenn smiled faintly as he looked into Raon’s calm eyes.

“It’s dangerous, but it’s a plan worth trying. You prepared well.”

Unlike in the annex building, he praised Raon’s preparation and patted his shoulder.

“Ah, thank you.”

Raon bowed his head to Glenn with a dazed look.

“There was nothing I could do in the annex building. It’s hard to stop a mother who’s worried about her son.”

Glenn chuckled softly, as if even he couldn’t stop Sylvia in that state.

“Besides, Sylvia doesn’t accurately grasp your might. Because she doesn’t recognize you as having reached Transcendence, no amount of explanation about how strong you are will convince her.”

He shook his head, saying that since they stood at different positions, it couldn’t be explained with words alone.

“That’s true.”

Raon drew a thin smile like Glenn’s. Just as he said, because their perspectives were different, Sylvia wouldn’t be able to understand.

“However, I know how strong you are. Even across this continent, there aren’t many who could defeat you as you are now.”

Glenn spread his right hand wide, saying that the number of people who could beat Raon now would be hard to count even on one hand.

“Hmm….”

Raon pressed his lips together as he listened. When the strongest person on the continent acknowledged his might, a blazing warrior’s resolve surged up in Raon’s chest, and strength naturally filled his entire body.

“Most, no, nearly all dangers, you could smash through with your own strength. However, Derus Robert is truly dangerous. You know that as well.”

Glenn furrowed his brow, saying that even with his own strength, surviving within Derus Robert’s faction wouldn’t be easy.

“I know. That’s why I’m trying to prepare in various ways—”

“That alone isn’t enough.”

Unlike his gentle tone until now, Glenn waved his hand firmly.

“I’ll try to train you as much as possible until Derus Robert’s followers bite the bait you’ve thrown out, but realistically, there won’t be enough time to achieve your goal.”

As if he knew that Raon was forming the tenth Ring of Fire, Glenn clicked his tongue, saying that time was absolutely insufficient.

“That’s true.”

Raon let out a heavy sigh.

‘There really isn’t enough time yet.’

By my current estimate, it would take at least half a year to complete the tenth Ring of Fire. Since the infiltration into Derus’s faction had to be carried out within a month at the latest, breaking through that wall in time would be difficult.

“Therefore, I’ll teach you a new martial art I learned not long ago.”

Glenn lowered the hand that had been stroking his chin and grasped Heavenly Tremor.

“Yes? Didn't you say you wouldn't pass on your enlightenment, grandfather?”

Raon blinked blankly. He was taken aback, because Glenn had said that although they followed the same path of the versatile sword, the roads they pursued were different, so there was no need to pass on his enlightenment.

“It’s not something like enlightenment. In fact, it’s questionable whether it can even be called a martial art…”

Glenn drew a deep smile, as if he had expected that question.

“It’s a technique. No matter what happens, you should be able to escape once.”

He nodded heavily, as if completely certain.

“This may be the last sword technique I ever create. Perhaps because of that….”

Glenn’s eyes sank to an eerily cold depth.

“Learning it will be a little, no, quite difficult.”

*   *   *

‘Haa….’

Raon sighed inwardly as he followed the short man descending the sacred staircase.

‘It was hard. Very hard.’

Glenn increased their sparring to six times a day, and during the remaining time focused entirely on passing down the technique he had developed himself. At first, Raon thought that having the Ring of Fire would allow him to learn it quickly, but this time, it truly wasn’t easy.

Even the King of Essence was honestly surprised.

Wrath frowned as if he was dumbfounded.

He never imagined that Nadine bread geezer would create something like that.

He let out a short, disbelieving chuckle, remarking that he’d completely reevaluated Glenn.

‘Right. It’s completely unlike the way grandfather usually is.’

Raon nodded in agreement.

‘He probably made it for my sake.’

Just as Wrath said, the sword technique Glenn passed on was completely different from anything that existed before. It was clear that he had created it because he was worried about the dangers I would continue to face.

‘I failed to create the tenth Ring of Fire, but at least I learned that sword.’

Despite sparring six times a day, I failed to form the tenth Ring of Fire.

In the end, I was close to completion and formed four-fifths of the ring, but it shattered eventually.

However, I barely managed to master the new sword technique Glenn said would be difficult. Just as he claimed, it seemed capable of saving my life exactly once, no matter how dangerous the situation.

That’s right. And perhaps that ring, too….

Wrath narrowed his eyes slightly, as if uncertain.

‘Hm? What do you mean by that?’

Raon tilted his head at Wrath.

Hmph, it’s nothing.

Wrath snorted as if telling him not to worry about it.

‘Way to leave me hanging.’

Raon chuckled and relaxed his shoulders.

‘If it’s nothing important, stay quiet. I need to focus on acting now.’

He smacked his lips while looking toward the end of the staircase leading underground.

“We’ve arrived.”

The short man, known outside as Kuanura, turned around and smiled brightly. A soft glow spread from his body, as if divinity had been sprinkled over him.

“Ah, yes….”

Raon swallowed dryly and slipped back into his disguise, the blue-eyed man named Jilpen, with his timid demeanor.

Tap.

As his foot touched the ground, a holy and warm energy flowed up from the floor and seeped through his entire body. It felt so good it gave him goosebumps, yet at the same time, a damp, unsettling sensation brushed along his spine.

‘This is….’

Raon tightened his fingers and raised his eyebrows ever so slightly.

‘A detection spell.’

It was clearly a detection spell that used divine power to assess the abilities of anyone who set foot on this land.

‘I won’t be exposed…’

Raon glanced at the ring on his finger and lightly bit the tip of his tongue.

‘I just need to react very slowly.’

The Ten Thousand Flames Cultivation and Glacier were kept suppressed, and thanks to the artifact created by Evelyn and Encia, no one could sense my aura. I had even lowered my physical abilities, during testing, not even Glenn could sense me.

Moreover, the man I was currently pretending to be, Jilpen, was originally a swordsman capable of using aura and an agent of the Black Market. As long as I show only a very small amount of earth aura, no one will suspect me.

“Mmhmh….”

Raon shook his shoulders slightly as if finding it strange. Since Jilpen originally had a timid personality, it was easier to act.

“Ah, please don’t be too startled.”

Kuanura smiled and shook his head.

“It’s a barrier meant to filter out impure evils that should not set foot on this land. The angels themselves came down and set it in place.”

He spread his hands, saying there was no need to be surprised and that it should simply be accepted as it was.

“I, I understand.”

Raon nodded with a dazed expression.

‘This feels unpleasant.’

A holy energy clearly swept over my entire body, yet strangely, it didn’t feel good. As expected, the archangels and celestials who descended to this land seemed far removed from the benevolent beings humans commonly imagined.

‘Still, I need to calm my mind.’

Raon suppressed the urge to annihilate Derus and the celestials, even resonating the Ring of Fire to do so. He calmed and cleared his mind, as though he truly had come all the way down underground to reach heaven.

“It is done. As expected, you are ready to be with us.”

Seeing the light wrapped around Raon settle without any reaction, Kuanura nodded.

“You may now receive the key that leads to heaven.”

As he said that, he approached the pure white door, gesturing for them to go inside together.

“I-is that so?”

With a vague, clueless expression, Raon followed behind Kuanura and looked at the white door.

‘It’s similar to the door Derus and the archangels used.’

Derus and the archangel had appeared or disappeared in front of him through a white dimensional door like that.

‘I can’t feel anything from inside.’

Judging by the fact that I couldn’t sense anything beyond it, the door before me seemed to serve a similar purpose

“Then, let’s go in.”

Kuanura nodded and turned the doorknob. With a creaking sound, a brilliant golden light poured straight out.

Fwoooooosh!

Raon closed his eyes against the intense light, felt a warm breeze blowing over him, and slowly opened his eyes.

“Th-this is….”

As the light settled, the inside of the white door gradually came into view. But what lay beyond was completely different from what he had expected.

Luxurious, spacious residences stood in neat rows, and at their center spread a green forest and a cathedral. Above, the sky was perfectly clear, without a single cloud, pouring down warm light.

In a land as refined as the center of a royal capital, no, even more so, people indulged in luxury, every single one of them wearing smiles that floated at the corners of their mouths. They were not false smiles, without exception, they radiated genuine happiness.

‘Is this that heaven?’

Just as Raon frowned slightly, finding it strange for a place called heaven—

“Oh my! Jilpen!”

From the right, a kind-faced middle-aged woman approached, calling the name of the person he was pretending to be.

“You made it here too!”

She greeted him with open arms and a bright smile, as if she knew him very well.

‘It starts right away.’

Raon lightly bit the inside of his cheek as he looked at the middle-aged woman.

‘The test to prove my identity.’

Steeling himself to accept whatever came, he twisted his lips upward beneath his robe.
