The Reincarnated Assassin is a Genius Swordsman 1168

 Chapter 1168

“Did you say you found the Lord’s location?”

Raon stepped forward.

“Is that really true?”

Bartius had said he would find the Lord’s location, but Raon had thought it wouldn’t be easy. He hadn’t expected him to find it this quickly.

Oh ho!

Wrath drew in a deep breath.

At last, will he get to taste the flesh of the Dragon Lord? He’s old, but he should still have a flavor of his own.

He smacked his lips as if the long wait had finally been worth it.

It was worth releasing those things to catch him!

‘Indeed.’

Raon looked at Wrath and let out a small chuckle.

‘It was good I didn’t kill them.’

The dragons’ gazes had been different from the ancient dragons he’d seen before, so he’d listened with some expectation, but they’d brought back a reward beyond what he’d imagined.

“No. I didn’t find him, though?”

Bartius crushed his expectations and tilted his head as if asking what he was talking about.

“Hmm? What do you mean by—”

“I didn’t say I found the Lord. I said I found a path that can reach the Lord.”

He tapped his ear, telling Raon to think again.

“Right….”

Raon narrowed his eyes slightly.

“That is what you said.”

Thinking back, Bartius was right. He hadn’t said he found the Lord, he’d said he discovered a way to reach him.

“What do you mean by a path that can reach the Lord?”

Raon looked at Bartius, his eyes narrowing to thin slits.

“Well, that is… ugh!”

Bartius examined the blue window, then frowned.

“It’s a place without many mages, yet the jamming signals are annoyingly abundant.”

Perhaps because communication was difficult due to the defensive spell installed inside Zieghart, his figure began to blur and fade.

“To deal with this….”

“Maybe it’s time to change the saying that dragons are the absolute rulers of magic.”

As Raon was about to adjust the flow of mana, Evelyn’s voice came from behind him.

“Don’t you think so, Raon?”

Evelyn stepped out from Raon’s shadow with a bright smile.

“E-Evelyn?”

Raon blinked in surprise at her sudden appearance.

“Weren’t you asleep?”

“If you’re not sleeping, neither am I.”

She smiled, saying she’d woken up at the same time Raon had.

Uwaaaack!

Wrath clutched his head and screamed.

Every single word gives me chills! Truly!

He shook his head wildly, saying he could never get used to this.

“Ah….”

Raon wasn’t as bad as Wrath, but he still felt a shiver crawl up his spine and squeezed his eyes shut.

“Evelyn, please.”

This was the moment when he needed her. Opening his eyes again, he asked her to shut off the interference signals.

“Okay! Got it!”

As Evelyn waved her hand as if to tell him not to worry, Bartius’s form, which had been flickering as though it might vanish at any moment, returned to its original state.

“I never imagined humans possessed such a refined defensive spell, one that interferes with signals.”

Bartius stroked his chin, seemingly intrigued by the signal-jamming spell Evelyn had set up.

“Study that later.”

Raon stepped one pace closer to Bartius.

“How do we get to the Lord?”

He curled his finger, telling him to speak now.

“There’s something I must say first. At present, the Lord does not exist on the continent.”

Bartius twisted his red lips upward, as if mocking the Dragon Lord.

“The Lord isn’t on the continent?”

Raon’s eyes went wide the moment he heard that.

“That’s right. If the Lord were on the continent, there’s no way we dragons wouldn’t be able to find him.”

Bartius nodded, saying he was certain after completing the search with the other dragons.

“Then where is the Lord?”

“Another dimension. And it’s almost certainly a newly created one.”

“He created a new dimension?”

Raon let out a hollow laugh at the completely unexpected mention of a new dimension.

“That’s right. For a dragon of the Lord’s caliber, creating a new dimension isn’t impossible.”

Bartius was certain that the Dragon Lord was capable of creating a dimension.

Ha! The Lord is in another dimension?

Wrath scoffed in disbelief.

So the one calling himself a mediator abandoned the middle realm and ran away? Not even a lizard, just a filthy rat!

He mocked the very existence of the Lord, calling him a disgraceful being.

“However, he didn’t simply run away. The Lord is preparing something inside that dimension.”

Bartius frowned, saying the Dragon Lord wouldn’t have created a dimension merely to hide.

“And what is that something?”

Raon narrowed his eyes as he asked.

“The Lord is not a fool. If he went so far as to create another dimension and hide there, he is surely creating something that can threaten you humans.”

Bartius shook his head, warning against underestimating the Dragon Lord.

“I’ve never underestimated the Dragon Lord.”

Raon placed his hand on Heavenly Drive.

“That hypocritical dragon either never shows himself when things are dangerous, or he’s always the first to run.”

There was no way a pathetic creature like the Dragon Lord would turn the Five Kings into enemies without any preparations. Regardless of whether he trusted Derus Robert or not, it was clear the Lord was preparing something separately.

‘As Bartius said, it must be things harmful to humans.’

The Dragon Lord and the ancient dragons didn’t merely dislike humans, they regarded them as nothing more than insects. If he was preparing something while hiding in another dimension, there was a strong chance it was a magic with bizarre and overwhelming power.

“How do we enter the space where the Dragon Lord is hiding?”

Raon tilted his chin toward Bartius.

“You know that too, right?”

“If I didn’t, I wouldn’t have come here in the first place.”

Bartius let out a thin snort.

“I formed a hypothesis based on information obtained by offering insincere flattery to the ancient dragons. No, this isn’t a hypothesis, but confirmed information.”

He nodded, saying this was something he had already discussed thoroughly with the other dragons.

“The Dragon Lord is not currently managing his own dimension.”

“What?”

Raon lowered his brows slightly.

“Didn’t you say earlier that the Dragon Lord created a new dimension?”

“No matter how outstanding a mage the Lord may be, it’s impossible for him to both manage his own dimension and complete a special magic at the same time. At present, the ones maintaining that dimension are three ancient dragons the Lord trusts most.”

Bartius raised his fingers, saying there were three ancient dragons maintaining the dimension where the Dragon Lord was hiding.

“We found identical traces of dimensional spell on those three ancient dragons. That’s proof the Lord is preparing a special magic.”

He clenched his fist, saying the three ancient dragons were managing the dimension while the Lord prepared some unknown magic within it.

“It’s surely magic that will have a massive impact on the middle realm. It seems they’ve even forgotten that they are supposed to be mediators.”

Bartius ground his teeth so hard that veins stood out along his jaw, saying it was beyond pitiful, it was disgusting.

“Then to open the dimension that leads to the Lord, do we first have to kill those ancient dragons?”

Raon rested his fingertips on Heavenly Drive.

“Rather than killing them, we should persuade them to hand over the key that opens the Lord’s dimension. However….”

Bartius’s gaze sank into an icy chill.

“If we use the ancient dragons’ mana, I may be able to unravel it myself.”

He pressed his lips together, implying that killing the ancient dragons was also an option.

“Good. Then there’s no problem.”

Raon clenched Heavenly Drive tightly and nodded.

“Shall we go immediately?”

Bartius smacked his lips, as if all his preparations were already complete.

“I want to go right away, but before that….”

Raon loosened the strength in his hand and looked toward the main building.

“I need to report first.”

“The weather is nice.”

Glenn bit his lip tightly as he looked out the window where warm sunlight was pouring in.

“If the weather’s nice, why are you biting your lip like that?”

Sheryl tilted her head as she looked at Glenn.

“Who knows. Maybe it’s because my heart is still dark.”

Glenn let out a low breath, as if lost in deep thought.

“Ah! Is it because Raon and Sia only paid attention to Sir Rector yesterday? I can tell exactly what you’re thinking now, head of house!”

Sheryl nodded vigorously, as if she had completely figured Glenn out.

“Hmm….”

Glenn didn’t say anything, but the trembling of his lips revealed that Sheryl was right.

“Haa, they say you become more childlike as you get older….”

Sheryl let out a sigh, saying she never imagined that Glenn, the Destructive King of the North, would turn out like this.

“Destructive King of the North, Sword God, at the end of the day, I’m just a human who values family above all else.”

Glenn shook his head, saying he had only realized that himself not long ago.

“Even so, wouldn’t it be better if you showed a calmer side now?”

Sheryl lowered her brows slightly as she looked at Glenn.

“That would be right. But when I see Raon, it’s not so easy.”

Glenn sighed with a hand on his forehead.

“I want to see him even now. It’s truly absurd. To think I’d become like this.”

He let out a hollow laugh, saying he never thought he would turn into such a doting grandfather.

“Honestly, even now, I just wish Raon would come right away—hmm?”

Glenn’s red eyes suddenly flashed. He quickly straightened his clothes and sat down on the throne, not in a relaxed manner, but with his shoulders squared, his back straight, and his expression hardened with authority.

“H-Head of house?”

Sheryl blinked as she looked at Glenn.

“Why all of a sudden—.”

At the moment she voiced her confusion, a knock sounded at the door of the audience chamber.

“This is the Light Wind Palace master. May I enter?”

Raon’s voice came from outside.

“Ahem!”

Glenn let out a sound far too clear to be called a mere fake cough and nodded.

“Enter.”

As soon as he finished speaking, the doors of the audience chamber opened and Raon walked inside.

“I greet the head of house.”

Raon stood at the center of the chamber and bowed toward Glenn.

“Yes.”

Glenn nodded calmly, as if he had never been waiting for Raon in the first place.

“What is it?”

“Yes. I came to ask after your well-being, and also because there’s something I need to report.”

Raon nodded with a gentle smile.

“Ask after my well-being….”

Rather than the report that followed, Glenn seemed deeply moved by those words, his lips trembling slightly.

“Yes. I slept well.”

He tapped the armrest of the throne with his fingers, saying his condition wasn’t bad.

“You must have held a sword for the first time in a while, how are you?”

Conversely, Glenn asked about Raon’s physical condition.

“I am also fine. I feel even better having heard some good news a little while ago.”

Raon let the words “good news” slip out, trying to bring up the main point.

“I’m glad you’re well. Still, you mustn’t let your guard down. Even if you are a Transcender, you’re still human, and your body needs constant care. Always eat and sleep enough.”

Once again, Glenn failed to catch Raon’s hint and spoke only about physical condition.

“Y-Yes, that’s right. Please make sure you eat properly as well, head of house. I’m not very hungry right now since I received some good information.”

Though flustered, Raon tried once more to steer the conversation toward the information.

“Then shall we at least have a meal together? You must have been eating a lot of outside food lately, so it wouldn’t be bad. I’ll give special instructions to the cooks at the lord’s manor—”

Once again, Glenn showed no interest whatsoever in the information. Instead, he wore a strange expression, as if suppressing a smile, focusing entirely on the fact that Raon had come in the morning just to check on him. He seemed genuinely envious of Rector from the day before.

“Ah, yes….”

Raon blinked as he looked at Glenn.

“Haa….”

Sheryl grabbed her head and stepped forward in front of Glenn.

“Raon says he has something to report! Stop cutting him off and listen!”

She raised her voice, telling him to get a grip.

“O-Oh….”

Glenn realized he had gone too far and rolled his eyes slightly.

“I see. It seems I got a bit excited since it’s morning.”

He slowly drew in a breath, but his gaze didn’t look particularly different.

“Alright. Speak.”

Glenn leaned back against the throne, signaling him to give his report.

“When I was about to train earlier, the gold dragon Bartius, whom I met before, appeared.”

Raon told Glenn and Sheryl about the conversation he had had with Bartius earlier that morning.

“The Dragon Lord is hiding in a new dimension and preparing something?”

Sheryl let out a hollow laugh in disbelief.

“Lizards. No, calling them lizards is a waste of the word!”

She frowned, scoffing at what kind of mediator could be like that.

“If the ancient dragons entrusted with the key to the dimension belong to the Lord, they are likely the leaders of each tribe.”

Glenn lowered his gaze with a calm expression, as if he had never been excited at all.

“The leaders of the tribes will possess strength on an entirely different level from other dragons. Can you handle it?”

He narrowed his eyes, as if asking whether it was truly all right to entrust this matter to him.

“If it’s now….”

Raon placed his veined hand atop Heavenly Drive.

“I believe I could take not a tribe leader, but the Dragon Lord’s head.”

Not bravado, but certainty. With calm eyes, as if he were merely saying he would go deal with bandits in the back mountains, he nodded.

“Please leave it to me.”
