The Reincarnated Assassin is a Genius Swordsman 1171
Chapter 1171
“If you can’t do it, you die.”
Raon snorted as if asking why he was asking the obvious.
“If you want to survive the hell that’s about to unfold in the human world, you have to overcome trials like this.”
The war against Derus Robert and Eden would, quite literally, bring hell down upon this continent.
They would be forced into a desperate war against the celestials and the demons of Eden, so hardships on the level of fighting dragons had to be overcome without much trouble.
“Th-that’s true, but….”
Even knowing Raon was right, Dorian’s bluish lips trembled as fear crept in.
“How am I supposed to kill a dragon!”
No matter how much he thought about it, he couldn’t picture himself defeating a dragon, and he swallowed dryly.
“If you can’t see it, make it so you can!”
Martha kicked Dorian in the butt.
“We’re not trainees, and you think anyone on a battlefield is going to go easy on you just because you cry?”
She shouted at him to get a grip, her brow deeply furrowed.
“I agree.”
Burren nodded while meeting Dorian’s eyes.
“Even if the chances of beating a dragon are slim, we still have to kill it somehow.”
He clenched his fist, saying that they had to fight and win right now in order to move on to the next stage.
“The good news is….”
Evelyn raised a finger and pointed at Bartius.
“The dragons down there aren’t as strong as them.”
She curled her lips, saying that the Blue Dragon beneath the sea was far weaker than Bartius.
“Evelyn is right.”
Raon met the eyes of Dorian, Martha, and Burren in turn.
“Unlike Bartius here, the dragons below are adult dragons that are far from being ancient dragons. It won’t be easy, but they’re absolutely not an insurmountable wall.”
He nodded, saying they were more than capable of dealing with them.
“Alright. Let’s do it.”
Burren said he would follow Raon’s lead and drew his sword.
“So that means they’re weak, right? Got it!”
Martha smacked her lips, saying she’d quickly kill a dragon and come back.
“Huuu….”
Dorian, teary-eyed yet seemingly resolved to follow Raon’s orders, took a combat stance.
“If you’re ready, then we’ll begin as well.”
When Bartius snapped his fingers, Balasiur, Bursiarabi, and Dariauran scattered to three directions.
Woooooong!
The three dragons drew in natural mana as if squeezing it dry, erecting a transparent barrier that wrapped around the vast sea.
It was a barrier meant to prevent Azgoros, the leader of the Blue tribe hiding beneath the sea, from escaping or contacting the outside.
“So this time it’s Balasiur, not Sirtiren, maintaining the barrier?”
Raon narrowed his eyes as he looked at Balasiur, who had stepped out to maintain the barrier, unlike during Ignis Cierfang’s nest.
“As a member of the Blue tribe, it’s only right that I guide you.”
Sirtiren stepped forward with a gentle smile.
“I’ve been here a few times when I was young.”
She raised her hand, saying it was only natural that she be the one to guide them.
“You’ve been here before?”
Dorian’s eyes widened as he looked at Sirtiren.
“She’s from the Blue Dragon tribe, so visiting the tribe leader wouldn’t be unusual.”
Burren shook his head as if it were nothing special.
“That too, and… Azgoros is my….”
Sirtiren twisted her lips as she looked down toward the sea.
“My father.”
She raised a finger and said that Azgoros was her father.
“Wh… what?”
“Huh!”
“W-what did you just say…?”
Dorian, Martha, and Burren all gaped, clearly shocked by Sirtiren’s words.
“Azgoros is your father?”
Even Raon lowered his brows as he looked at her in surprise.
“Dragon family relationships are different from those of you humans. Sure, some tribes get along well, but at the very least, we weren’t one of them.”
Sirtiren shook her head with a hollow laugh.
“If anything, since we’re not on good terms, you don’t need to feel burdened.”
She shrugged, saying she wouldn’t even blink if Azgoros died. Seeing her like that, it seemed dragons, like humans, had many different kinds of relationships.
“Then let’s begin.”
Bartius spread his hands, seeming to trust Sirtiren’s words completely, and moved to start the fight.
Woooooong!
Following his ten fingers, the great sea began to whirl, then split open, creating a path leading down to Azgoros’s nest.
Kiaaaaaah!
The guardians protecting Azgoros’s nest rose above the sea, baring savage fangs and radiating crimson killing intent, even though the water had vanished.
“I’ll erase those.”
When Evelyn raised a finger, shapes like butterfly wings were drawn behind her back. Every stripe forming the wings was magic.
Puh-buh-buh-buh-buh-bung!
As Evelyn’s signature magical bombardment rained down, Azgoros’s guardians, who had been surging forward to eliminate the intruders, were erased without even a scrap of flesh remaining.
“Now go down.”
She smiled softly, as if to say she would take care of all the bothersome work herself.
“Thanks.”
Raon nodded to Evelyn and was about to descend into the sea when—
“As expected, his words were not wrong.”
“He’s one of the most wise even among the ancient dragons.”
“Though I never expected someone of the same race to betray us.”
From beneath the sea rose two young men and one young woman, their blue hair fluttering. They were different from the guardians that showed only beastlike killing intent. They were the adult dragons of the Blue tribe that Azgoros had called.
“So that’s why you were sucking up to the ancient dragons even though it didn’t suit you. This was your scheme?”
The blue-haired girl twisted her lips as she looked at Sirtiren.
“Sapphire.”
Sirtiren murmured the name, as if she recognized the dragon who had taken the form of a blue-haired girl.
“You’ll go down in history, as a fool who betrayed her tribe and clung to humans.”
The dragon called Sapphire shook her head in disdain.
“No.”
Sirtiren snorted as she looked at the blue-haired girl.
“I’ll be known as a clever one who dealt with the leeches that abandoned their role as mediators and latched onto the celestials, won’t I?”
She twirled her finger, telling her to think carefully.
“Hmph! You might’ve been planning a surprise attack, but what a shame.”
Sapphire tilted her chin toward Sirtiren and Bartius.
“Sir Azgoros already knows you’ve come.”
As she lowered her gaze with a mocking smile, the sea stirred.
Kuuuuung!
With a vibration that seemed to shake the entire continent, a massive shadow surged up from the surface of the blue ocean.
Pahaaaaa!
A pair of wings erased the horizon, and a neck that rose endlessly blotted out the sun, a majestic being revealing itself in full. Azgoros, the leader of the Blue Dragon tribe, displayed his colossal body.
[So a bunch of trash who don’t know their place have come.]
Azgoros bent his eyes, which flashed blue like sapphires. Just meeting that gaze made the humans unable to breathe, as if time had stopped.
“Th-this one’s a monster too….”
Burren pressed his parched lips together. Blood trickled down along his jawline.
“Th-the pressure feels even worse than before….”
Dorian clutched his chest, saying it felt like he would suffocate to death. If left like this, he looked as though he really would collapse from being unable to breathe.
“Endure it! If you can’t endure even this much, there was no point in ever picking up a sword!”
Martha shouted for them to hold on, gripping her sword hilt so tightly it seemed it might shatter.
“He really is at the level of a tribe leader.”
Even Evelyn twisted her lips slightly, apparently feeling considerable pressure.
“Hoo.”
Bartius also furrowed his brow faintly, as if breathing were not easy.
“…….”
Sirtiren, as if unaffected at all by Azgoros’s immense pressure, lifted her gaze with narrowed eyes.
[Sirtiren.]
Azgoros exhaled an enraged breath as he looked at Sirtiren.
[I was going to give you one last chance, yet you repeat your foolish choice again!]
Saying that there was no chance left for Sirtiren anymore, he released a chilling energy wave.
[And you even borrow the power of such vile humans!]
Azgoros rolled his cold eyes, seemingly noticing Raon’s existence immediately, unlike Ignis Cierfang.
“Rather than hiding under the sea while wiping the Lord’s feet, I’ll live however I want with my human friends. Ah, of course, the Lord himself is also a leech that sucks the blood of the celestial.”
Sirtiren let out a refreshingly bright smile that didn’t suit the situation at all, saying she didn’t want to live a filthy life.
[You have gone utterly mad. Since I am the one who made you, I’ll tear out your throat with these fangs!]
As if declaring that he would kill Sirtiren with his own hands, Azgoros unleashed his mana. A wave more terrifying than his colossal body spread out, making the entire sea quake.
Kugugugugugu!
Just as waves wrapped in mana were about to crash down on everyone, Raon stepped forward.
Woooooong!
Just from Raon taking a single step, the raging sea began to slowly calm
[Raon Zieghart!]
Azgoros spoke his name as if he had known him all along.
[The Lord judged you dangerous, but I think differently! No matter how strong you’ve become, a human is still just a human!]
As if to prove it himself, he released a fiercely flashing blue radiance. It was an extremely swift magic, faster than light itself.
Jjeeeeeong!
Yet Raon cleaved through Azgoros’s invisible magic with a single sword.
Pueeeoong!
The magic split apart by Heavenly Drive fell into the sea, triggering a massive explosion.
[Hmph!]
As if he had expected at least that much, Azgoros narrowed his eyes, and an orb blooming with frost formed above his head.
Kyaaaaa!
From within the white-flashing orb, an uncountable number of spells poured down. Azgoros was trying to erase Raon without leaving a single trace.
“Are all tribe leaders only this much?”
Raon calmly nodded and extended Heavenly Drive.
Kyaaahhhng!
The crimson-burning blade split apart every spell falling like a downpour and even shattered the white orb floating in the sky.
Pueeeok!
As the orb Azgoros had formed with his full power shattered, silver snow began to fall from the sky, as if winter itself had arrived.
[Huh…?]
Azgoros gaped his massive jaws, clearly unable to imagine that the orb would be destroyed by a single sword strike from Raon.
[Y-you bastard!]
Grinding his teeth in panic and rage at once, he spread his wings.
Kugugugugugu!
Following Azgoros’s fury, the great sea trembled and surged. The ocean flashed blue and rose with enough force that looked capable of swallowing the entire continent.
[Die!]
As if to crush Raon and everyone behind him all at once, he dropped a tidal wave from the sky, the sea filled with his own mana.
Hwaaaaak!
As Raon thrusted out the fire rotating on his blade, Azgoros’s wave magic, which was coming down as if to swallow the continent, all burned up in flames and evaporated.
Normally, water overwhelms fire in terms of elemental affinity, but at this moment, that rule did not seem to apply.
“Spells I’ve seen before while fighting the Mad Dragon Kaibar.”
Raon lowered Heavenly Drive, not a single drop of water clinging to it.
“Don’t you have something a bit more interesting?”
He tilted his chin, telling him to make it more fun.
[Don’t worry!]
Azgoros’s voice echoed from within the white currents of air left behind as the seawater evaporated.
[Because there will be no next time!]
Along with his furious roar, a pure white, flashing breath poured forth. Ice breath, the strongest weapon of the Blue Dragons. He had prepared the breath of cold immediately, as if he had anticipated the wave magic would fail.
Kwaaaaahhh!
The white breath that froze even the air itself surged forward.
‘Even before the cold reached me, it felt as though my bone and flesh were freezing solid.’
No matter how great my might was, the breath unleashed by an ancient dragon was dangerous.
‘Of course.’
Raon pressed down on the surging waves with his left foot and shook his head.
‘I just have to cut it before it reaches.’
He poured strength into Heavenly Drive, which had been angled downward. With the blade blazing red once more, he scraped up the waves of the great sea and drew a tall, straight sky.
Azure Sky Sword’s Ultimate Technique, Azure Sky’s Grand Elegance.
Beneath the sky, everything is forced to become small. The sword strike that contained the vast azure sky pierced through the cold that threatened to freeze the entire world, and then pierced the neck of the one hiding behind it.
Peoeoeoeoeok!
Azgoros, the leader of the Blue tribe, just like Ignis Cierfang, could not believe in his own death. After staring at Raon with eyes wrapped in shock, his head fell.
[Th-that’s impossible…]
Even as he died, Azgoros lamented in disbelief. With ordinary swordsmanship, one could use mana to reattach a severed neck, but Raon’s sword had already surpassed that level, and even the pure mana of an ancient dragon could not withstand it.
Kwaaaaahhhng!
Azgoros’s corpse crashed into the sea, and a terrifying wave spread outward in all directions.
“Ah….”
“S-Sir Azgoros!”
“W-what is this….”
The three Blue Dragons Azgoros had called trembled their eyes, as if they couldn’t believe this reality.
“You guys take care of one of those dragons.”
Raon crooked his finger toward Burren, Martha, and Dorian.
“We still have to kill the Lord today….”
He glanced at the position of the sun floating in the sky and crooked his finger again.
“Within one hour.”
