The Reincarnated Assassin is a Genius Swordsman 1172
Chapter 1172
Srrrng.
Raon sheathed Heavenly Drive and closed his eyes.
‘Just as I expected.’
I had finished Azgoros after accepting all the spells and breath poured out, thinking that I might have killed the Red tribe’s leader, Ignis Cierfang, too easily with a sneak attack, but nothing really changed.
My current strength was at a level where even dragon tribe leaders, the so-called strongest race on land, could be killed with a single sword strike. Apart from my realm, I felt that my might itself had grown terrifyingly.
‘No, if I’m being precise, this isn’t even my full strength.’
It was true that I had swung my sword with all the strength I currently possessed, but I still had my sword field. If I were to activate the Divine and Demonic Harmony
and amplify my strength further, I would be able to wield swordsmanship on a realm higher than this.
Hmph!
Wrath snorted as if it were ridiculous.
To be impressed just because you killed a single lizard… that’s why you’re still a novice!
He shook his head, saying there was still a long way to go.
With lizards like that, what matters isn’t how you kill them, but the way you kill them!
Wrath smacked his lips, saying that the way strong ones think is fundamentally different.
‘The way I kill them?’
Raon tilted his head as he looked at Wrath.
Exactly! Cutting the head clean off like you just did is fine, but smashing the organs or freezing them is an even better method. That way…
Wrath narrowed his eyes, as if he were about to teach the proper way to kill a dragon.
The meat loosens up and becomes more tender when you eat it!
‘Ha….’
Raon opened his eyes and let out a heavy sigh.
‘I had a feeling, and sure enough.’
I thought some good advice might come out, but this time too, it is only talk about eating. Now this glutton’s whining was almost tiresome.
‘Well, still….’
Raon let out a smile watching Wrath, who was scanning Azgoros’s corpse and muttering that it looked delicious.
‘He’s saying things like that because he trusts me.’
Wrath wasn’t always joking. In truly dangerous moments, he became more serious than anyone else.
That meant I had grown strong enough that even Wrath no longer felt uneasy.
No! The King of Essence is serious!
Wrath scoffed, insisting it wasn’t like that at all.
‘Ah, is that so.’
Raon closed his eyes again and thought about what could be improved in the Azure Sky Sword he had used at the end.
“Ha! If you show something like that, we’ve got no choice but to do it too!”
Martha drew up her aura to its limit, as if declaring that she would take down a dragon as well.
“Let’s go right now!”
Unable to wait any longer, she stepped forward first.
“Three of us against one?”
Burren bit his lip, looking excited after seeing Raon’s sword.
“If that’s the case, it’s not that difficult.”
He nodded, saying the conditions were more than enough to secure a victory.
“Uh, I-I’m still scared, though….”
Even after seeing Raon overwhelmingly defeat and kill Azgoros, the Blue tribe’s leader, Dorian trembled, shoulders shaking in fear. Still, despite his words, he stood beside Burren and Martha and raised his sword.
“B-but what about the other two? Who’s going to deal with them?”
Dorian rolled his eyes, as if asking what they would do about the two dragons left over after the one they faced.
“I can’t.”
Bartius shook his head, extending a hand toward Azgoros’s corpse.
“I have to extract the key to open the dimension and stabilize it.”
He lowered his eyes, saying he could not help because he had to extract the dimension’s key from Azgoros.
“I’ll take care of that one.”
Sirtiren pointed at Sapphire, the blue dragon she had been arguing with until Azgoros appeared.
“We have a bad history.”
She brushed her hands together, saying she would properly settle old ties today.
“Hey, Sapphire. You play with me.”
Sirtiren returned to her true form while raising a blue light. She wasn’t as large as Azgoros, but her blue scales shone even more brilliantly as she exhaled a mysterious blue breath.
“Damn it!”
Sapphire cursed and released her human form. She had a body similar in size to Sirtiren’s, but the amount of mana she gave off was far smaller.
Kugugugugugu!
The blue dragons dove into the sea, their own domain, and began a violent battle. Even though magic and bodies were colliding deep beneath the ocean, the vibrations carried all the way up to the surface.
“Th-then does that mean the palace master will help with the last dragon?”
Dorian turned back, looking as if he were begging.
“No.”
Raon stepped back lightly, arms crossed, as if to say he had no intention of helping.
“Th-then maybe the other dragons maintaining the barrier could help….”
Dorian turned pleading eyes toward Bartius.
“I’m sorry, but we can’t move either.”
Bartius shook his head, eyes half-closed.
“If we release the barrier, the remaining dragons might flee.”
He said that he could not lift this barrier until those three dragons were killed and everything around them had been dealt with, then closed his eyes again.
“Uuugh….”
Dorian’s jaw trembled as he looked around his surroundings.
“Shall I take one?”
It was Evelyn. She moved up beside Dorian and smiled gently.
“Y-Yes? Yes! Please, do that!”
Dorian jumped up looking at Evelyn. He clasped his hands as if he thought it was a miracle that would never happen again that Evelyn, who was more uncontrollable than Raon, stepped up.
“Ah, no.”
Evelyn shook her head, a hand to her lips.
“You two take one, and the two of us take one.”
She curled her red lips, suggesting that Martha and Burren handle one dragon, while Dorian and she would take the other.
“I don’t like that human, but that suggestion isn’t bad.”
Martha nodded calmly.
“That does seem better. If the three of us move at once, we might overlap paths while dodging magic.”
Burren flicked his sword slightly, agreeing that Evelyn’s idea wasn’t bad.
“Eh…?”
Unlike Burren and Martha, Dorian couldn’t seem to accept Evelyn’s proposal, his jaw trembling.
“You worm-like creatures!”
“What do you take us for!”
The blue dragons, startled by Azgoros’s death, grew furious at the sight of humans treating them like mere lowly monsters and revealed their true forms.
Kugugugugugu!
Smaller than Bartius or Sirtiren, yet clearly having reached the realm of true adult dragons, the two blue dragons freely controlled the sea and released terrifying waves of energy.
“Let’s start!”
Martha roared in excitement and charged at the blue dragon with a scar on its horn.
“Haa, at least try to coordinate before charging in.”
Burren sighed but stepped forward using footwork to a position where he could assist Martha.
[Die!]
The Blue Dragon with the scar on its horn poured out dozens of ice spears. The mana imbued in the spears of cold was so intense that even a Grandmaster couldn’t take it lightly, a high-level spell.
“I’ll go first.”
Burren stepped ahead of Martha and extended his sword. In the past, he would have calmly deflected only the spears that came his way, but now, breathing out a fierce breath, he shattered every ice spear before him in a single sweep.
“Nice!”
Martha moved through the path Burren had opened with his sword and brought her blade down. Her posture was no different from before the head of house’s training began.
But the brown-gleaming sword now carried a massive weight and pressure that hadn’t been there before.
Buuuuoom!
Martha’s heavy sword strike pierced through the blue dragon’s scales and completely shattered his leg.
[Kroooooar!]
Letting out a tearing scream, the blue dragon fired high-level spell wildly at Burren and Martha.
Kugugugugugu!
But Burren’s ironclad defense was never breached. So that Martha could attack with her full strength, he cut down every incoming spell without leaving a single one behind.
Jijijijijik!
With Burren’s support, Martha focused solely on offense. Her ferocious sword strikes tore through the blue dragon’s defensive spell and inflicted fatal wounds upon it.
[St-stop!]
The blue dragon tried to retreat into the sea to buy time, but Burren and Martha gave it none. Aiming for the neck and the area around the heart, they completely cut off any possibility of retreat.
Not bad.
Wrath nodded, seemingly pleased with Burren and Martha’s fight.
That lizard isn’t a young one either, yet they’re completely overwhelming it by dividing offense and defense.
‘Blocking its retreat into the sea and preventing it from using its breath is smart.’
Raon narrowed his eyes to slits, agreeing with Wrath.
‘Right now, the only real threat to those two is the breath.’
At their current level, Burren and Martha could destroy the magic of an adult dragon without much difficulty. If they prevented it from entering the sea and keep its breath in check, winning will not be difficult.
‘And besides….’
Raon formed a thin smile as he saw the gleam flickering from Burren’s sword.
‘The future looks like it’ll be even more interesting.’
The scent of a sword field emanating from Burren’s blade had grown stronger. It truly seemed that I would be able to see Burren’s sword field before long.
‘Then over there….’
Having set aside his concerns, Raon turned his gaze toward Evelyn and Dorian’s fight.
“Uh…?”
He stared, mouth agape, at the completely unexpected sight.
Kugugugugugu!
The Blue Dragon, with its true form revealed, stood frozen as if caught by a leash, while Evelyn held her palm wide open toward it.
“How is it? It’s a mana control spell I developed recently. If the target is weaker than me, I can make even a Transcender unable to move a muscle by grabbing their internal mana. I could even make it burst from the inside.”
Evelyn smiled faintly, saying that with her newly developed spell, she was gripping the Blue Dragon’s heart.
[Grrrgh!]
The Blue Dragon panted as if it truly could not do anything at all, like a kitten caught by the scruff of the neck by its mother.
“Alright, finish it.”
Evelyn tilted her chin toward Dorian, telling him to cut off the blue dragon’s head now.
“If you cut just a little above where the dragon heart is, that should do it.”
“Ah….”
Dorian’s hand trembled violently as he gripped his sword, looking even more frightened by Evelyn’s calm tone.
“Ah….”
Huh….
Raon and Wrath both let out rough breaths at the pitiful state of the dragon.
This isn’t how it’s supposed to be.
* * *
Kuuuuung!
In the end, the remaining two blue dragons died with their dragon hearts torn out, and Sirtiren emerged onto the island from the sea, carrying Sapphire’s corpse in her mouth.
“Uuuugh….”
Even while his lips trembled as if he still couldn’t collect himself, Dorian stuffed Azgoros’s corpse and the other three dragons’ bodies into his belly pocket.
“What in the world is that?”
Sirtiren let out an empty breath as she looked at Dorian’s belly pocket, which still had room to spare despite holding five dragons, two of them ancient dragons larger than an entire fortress.
“I’ve stabilized the second key as well.”
Bartius nodded, placing a hand over his chest.
“Do you really plan to finish everything today?”
He asked while looking up at the sun, which still seemed far from setting.
“Of course.”
Raon placed a hand on Heavenly Drive and looked at Bartius.
“As you know, the Dragon Lord is a devious bastard. We need to move before he notices.”
He smacked his lips, saying he still had strength to spare.
“I’m glad I chose you. Or was it you who chose us?”
Bartius smiled faintly and clasped his hands together.
“Next is the forest where the leader of the Black tribe resides.”
As he spread his hand, a golden dimension opened once more.
Wuuuuung!
By now, Raon didn’t even ask and simply stepped into the dimension Bartius opened.
Whooooosh!
Just as Bartius had said, the place where the Black tribe’s leader lived was a vast forest. The dense undergrowth and towering trees blocked out the sunlight, making it feel dim.
“Hmm?”
Raon tilted his head slightly.
‘Where is the Black tribe’s leader?’
Unlike the other places, no dragon presence could be felt in this forest. No, I could sense that a dragon had been here, but I couldn’t tell where it was.
“This is….”
Bartius seemed to sense it as well and furrowed his brow.
“It seems the Black tribe’s leader has disappeared.”
His fingertips trembled as he said that the Black tribe’s leader, who should clearly be here, was nowhere to be found.
“Dariauran!”
The red dragon Balasiur shouted as he turned toward Dariauran.
“I-I don’t know either. Where did that bastard go….”
Dariauran of the Black tribe frowned, as though this were news to him as well.
“It’s all ruined.”
The white dragon Bursiarabi let out a sigh as if he knew this would happen.
“There’s no need to panic.”
Raon shook his head calmly.
“He did run away, but he couldn’t have gone very far.”
Narrowing his eyes as he looked deeper into the forest, as if sensing something even the dragons could not, Raon continued,
“So far that there’s no need to chase him.”
