The Reincarnated Assassin is a Genius Swordsman 1135
Chapter 1135
'Grandfather is right.'
Raon quietly nodded as he listened to Glenn’s declaration of war.
'We must not fall for Derus Robert's and Eden's scheme.'
We have to find them first.
Whether Derus Robert completes the summoning of the archangel or creates a new martial art based on his Heart Sword, the result will likely come about a year and a month from now.
Given that bastard’s perfectionist nature, once that happens, there’ll be no stopping him no matter what we do,so we have to start the war before then, at all costs.
'I can fully understand giving the successor position to whoever finds Derus' or Eden's location first.'
Derus Robert and are hiding like rats, not revealing the location of their headquarters.
If their headquarters can be found, then, just as the White Blood Religion was destroyed, the war can be brought to victory, so it was only natural that the successor of Zieghart be decided that way.
‘“If Karoon — no, if Balder finds them first, I can hand the successor’s position to him as well.’
Becoming Zieghart’s head of house was one of my goals, but what I desired even more deeply was to utterly annihilate Derus Robert and his entire force.
If there was someone who could greatly help that goal, I could personally place the crown on them.
‘Though, of course, I’d prefer it to be Karoon rather than Balder.’
Raon let out a short breath and looked toward Karoon.
“……”
Karoon was rubbing his chin, gazing up at the ceiling of the audience chamber, lost in thought.
“This war is a race against time.”
Standing before the throne, Glenn looked down upon the executives.
“If within a year we can locate Derus Robert’s forces or Eden’s headquarters, then that will be our victory. If not, consider it theirs.”
He struck his left chest with his fist, emphasizing how urgent the situation was.
"But you must not focus solely on the search. The moment we find them, the war will begin, so do your best in your individual training as well."
Glenn revealed a look that overwhelmed everyone, saying they should reduce their sleep if necessary and move.
“Zieghart has always eradicated evil. Show those monsters, who abandoned the path of humanity in pursuit of nothing but power, what kind of house we are.”
He nodded solemnly, as if he were placing his trust in everyone of Zieghart.
“Yes!”
“Understood!”
Zieghart executives roared as if the audience chamber would burst, each vowing to do their utmost.
“I will send major information through the Shadow Agents.”
Glenn waved his hand, signaling that was all for today.
"Then, we will take our leave."
Starting with Karoon’s bow, Zieghart executives lowered their heads to Glenn and exited the audience chamber.
“……”
As Raon also bowed to Glenn and was about to leave—
“Master of the Light Wind Palace.”
Karoon called from a step behind, addressing Raon by his title.
“Yes, master of the Central Martial Palace.”
Raon turned and met Karoon’s eyes. Karoon’s expression was calm, as if he had finished arranging his thoughts.
“In the Central Martial Palace…”
Karoon looked at him steadily, then opened his mouth.
“I have some recent information on Derus Robert and Eden. I’ll send it to you, so our palaces can work together.”
He reached out his hand, proposing that the Central Martial Palace and the Light Wind Palace share information.
“Work together? Are you serious?”
Raon frowned deeply as he looked at him.
“If that information is accurate, you could easily secure the successor’s position of Zieghart for yourself.”
A faint, dry laugh slipped out of Raon’s mouth. He knew just how immense and burning Karoon’s desire to become the head of Zieghart was.
"I believe I've said this once before..."
Karoon slightly turned his chin.
“Inheriting a ruined house means nothing. What I want to protect isn’t Zieghart’s throne, but its conviction.”
He pointed not at Glenn’s golden throne, but at the sky of Zieghart he’d been gazing at throughout the meeting.
“Now isn’t the time to compete for succession, it’s the time to think only about how to win this war.”
Karoon gave a small motion of his hand, as if to say Raon already knew what he meant.
“…You’re right.”
Meeting Karoon’s calm gaze, Raon smiled faintly.
“But why are you telling only me?”
“Because you and the Light Wind Palace are the strongest.”
Karoon answered as if it were obvious.
“If any other armed organizations move carelessly, they could be annihilated, and the information we worked so hard to obtain could be lost. The only ones capable of pursuing such dangerous leads are the Central Martial Palace, the Light Wind Palace, and the Heavenly Blade Division.”
He added that there was also Aris’ pirate crew, but since they specialized in the sea, he’d speak to them separately.
“Still, don’t waste the second successor test.”
Karoon advised him to spend the remaining month training and gathering his supporters.
“Understood.”
Raon nodded with a faint smile.
“Then.”
With a casual wave of his hand, Karoon left the audience chamber first, as if to say, See you later.
“That’s my brother…?”
Aris came up beside Raon, letting out a sigh.
“It’s so creepy! Maybe he was better when he was being his usual arrogant self!”
Despite calling it creepy, she smiled brightly, the kind of smile that showed she was genuinely moved by Karoon’s change.
“Just like he said, we’ll search the seas. The moment we find any intel, we’ll send it straight to you, so be ready!”
Patting Raon’s shoulder in support of him becoming head of house, Aris followed after Karoon.
“…”
After exchanging a brief gaze with Glenn, who had silently watched the entire conversation from his throne,Raon finally stepped out of the audience chamber.
‘He said to bring people with talent.’
Recalling Glenn’s words, Raon’s lips curved faintly.
‘I hadn’t considered it before…’
I should bring those two as well.
Those two?
Wrath’s eyes widened as if wondering what Raon meant.
They're already grown up.
'They're overflowing with talent. And...'
Looking at Karoon’s and Aris’ backs, Raon smiled faintly.
'They seem to have potential, too.'
* * *
“As the head of house commanded.”
Raon stood atop the platform of the fifth training ground, overlooking the Light Wind swordsmen lined up at attention.
“From this moment on, Zieghart will prepare for war.”
At those words, determination began to blaze in the swordsmen’s eyes.
“Don’t worry!”
Krein stepped forward and raised his fist.
“I, Krein, will devote my entire body to gathering information on that bastard Derus and Eden!”
He lifted his chin proudly, declaring that he would make Raon the successor of Zieghart no matter what.
"We will join you!"
“You must become the successor, palace master!”
“The Shadow Agents’ intel always comes to us first, so we’ll find them right away!”
The others nodded fiercely, declaring that they would stake their lives to make Raon the next head of Zieghart.
“Palace master as head of house! Palace master as head of house! Palace master—”
“Quiet.”
Raon came down from the platform and smacked Krein on the forehead mid-chant.
“Kehek!”
Krein yelped, clutching his now bright red forehead.
“W-why…”
“You’re Zieghart swordsmen, not informants.”
Raon sighed and shook his head.
“Instead of gathering intel, think about how you can become even stronger.”
He told them to leave intelligence gathering to others and focus on their training, then knocked Krein on the head again.
“But if you lose the successor…”
“Then that’s how it goes.”
Raon smiled faintly, remembering Karoon’s calm face, the man who had reached out to him first. Somehow, he felt that even if Karoon became the next head of house, he wouldn’t mind anymore.
“I’ve passed on everything the head said at the audience chamber, but there’s one more thing I haven’t told you yet.”
Raon stepped back up onto the platform and looked down at the Light Wind swordsmen.
“The head of house has said he will personally supervise the training of any swordsman who shows the potential to grow, so that we may raise our chances of victory in the coming war, even by a little.”
The moment Raon said Glenn would personally oversee their training, all the chatter filling the fifth training ground vanished at once.
“T-The head of house…?”
“He’s going to supervise our training himself?”
“A heaven-sent opportunity! Instruction from the Destructive King of the North,no, from the Sword God himself!”
“How do we get chosen?!”
The swordsmen swallowed hard, staring at Raon as if a legendary sword were hanging right in front of their eyes.
“As I said, the head of house will choose based on potential. Meaning…”
Raon narrowed his eyes slightly, scanning the strength of each Light Wind swordsman one by one.
“One month from now, I’ll take the swordsman who’s shown the greatest improvement from their current level to the head of house.”
The second successor test would end in a month, so the timing was perfect.
“Can I join too? I want to learn from the greatest swordsman of the age!”
The Sword Sovereign raised her hand, saying even she wanted Glenn’s teaching.
“Please, act your age for once…”
The War King sighed and forced the Sword Sovereign’s hand down.
“No.”
Raon raised his hand to stop the War King from scolding her.
“You two are included as well.”
“Huh…?”
“R-really?”
The Sword Sovereign and War King widened their eyes in surprise.
“Yes. The head of house placed no restrictions.”
Glenn had only said to bring anyone with talent and potential. Bringing the Sword Sovereign and War King, who were technically “my people”, was no issue at all.
‘If all goes well, this might turn into something even better.’
If the Sword Sovereign and War King received Glenn’s instruction and advanced to a higher level, they would be able to stand on equal ground with the lower level archangels. That would greatly increase our chances of winning the war.
“But as I said, potential is the condition.”
Raon nodded, telling them to give it their best.
“Fine! I’ll grow even if it means cutting into my bones and flesh!”
The Sword Sovereign, saying she felt excited for the first time in a while, unleashed a sword strike that seemed to tear the sky apart.
“Hmph… I suppose there’s no choice this time.”
The War King muttered that he wanted to hear Glenn’s insights on martial arts and slipped quietly into the training room.
“No! This is bad!”
“If the instructors join in, two of the spots will be taken for sure!”
“There’s no time! Let’s start right now!”
“Uooooooh!”
The swordsmen howled, unwilling to let even their instructors take Glenn’s instruction from them, and immediately began training.
“I can’t fall behind either.”
Burren drew his sword and began practicing the sword techniques he’d learned from Karoon, saying he’d give it everything within the time they had.
“The head of house’s training… I can finally get what Raon monopolized all this time.”
Martha bared her teeth in a grin, declaring that she’d seize this opportunity no matter what.
“Haaahm…”
Runaan let out a long yawn, leaning against a tree and closing her eyes as if she wasn’t even interested in Glenn. It seemed she was training her sloth, or perhaps simply catching up on sleep.
Who will you bring?
Wrath landed on Raon’s shoulder, narrowing his eyes.
Didn’t you already decide everything? First you’ll take the ice cream girl, beef girl, and shitty-eyes….
‘No, I didn’t.’
Raon firmly shook his head, saying that was completely wrong.
‘I’m going to prioritize potential, just like the head of house said. No matter how much talent someone has, if they don’t put in the effort, there’s a clear limit. Of course….’
He smiled as he watched the swordsmen training hard.
‘…I don’t see anyone slacking off right now.’
What about her?
Wrath pointed with a snort toward Runaan, who was snoring softly.
“…H-her, that is her training.”
Raon quickly turned his gaze away, changing the subject.
‘Anyway, I’ll choose purely based on potential. Those who can grow the most under the head of house’s instruction and become a real pillar in the war.’
He nodded to himself, reaffirming his earlier words.
Well, that’s not wrong.
Wrath nodded, saying this was just like him.
But what about you? Why are you making only the kids train? Aren’t you going to do any training yourself?
Wrath scrunched his nose, asking why Raon was the only one sitting still.
You barely survived after that silver-haired sneaky bastard almost killed you. You should be swinging your sword until you drop!
He ground his teeth as he spoke. It seemed he was still angry that he’d had to eat those awful Nadine breads yesterday.
‘I’m waiting right now.’
Raon waved his hand dismissively at the growling Wrath, who looked like a hungry dog.
Waiting? What did you forget this time?!
Wrath snorted, exclaiming he was pathetic.
‘I didn’t forget anything. It’s something I can’t control….’
Hah! What do you mean you can’t control it! Your body and mind are yours to command,if you can’t even manage that, then—
Wrath was in the middle of scolding him with a mocking laugh.
[You have accomplished a great feat.]
[You have contemplated <Death>.]
[All stats increase by 100 points.]
[New trait…]
[Trait…]
[Title…]
The long-awaited rewards, from rescuing Rector and everything that had happened since the Martial Blade Pavilion, had finally arrived.
W-What…!
Wrath’s jaw dropped as soon as he saw the '100 points' message.
D-don’t tell me this is what you were waiting for…
‘Yep. I can’t control these rewards, after all.’
Raon smiled, pointing at the floating messages.
‘I actually thought I’d get them yesterday, but I guess they were delayed.’
He took a short breath before continuing.
‘When your stats and traits increase, the senses in your body realign. I wanted to start training after receiving the rewards so my condition would be perfect.’
Raon skimmed through the floating messages with a faint smile.
‘I thought it was strange that it didn’t show up even this morning, but sure enough, poke you a little, and it finally comes out.’
He chuckled and patted Wrath on the head.
‘You’re like a piggy bank. It’s amazing how rewards only come out when I hit you.’
Saying he’d count on him next time too, Raon shook Wrath like a piggy bank.
Yesterday, it was Nadine bread. Today, it’s the King of Essence’s flesh and bones…
Wrath ground his teeth, glaring fiercely.
He really can’t stand this anymore!
With a burst of killing cold, he charged at Raon as if dragging him down to die together.
‘You talked about controlling my mind and body, yet you can’t even control your own temper, some Demon King you are.’
Raon smirked, accepting his challenge.
‘All right then, let’s see what you’ve got.’
Naturally, the result was—
[You have suppressed <Wrath>.]
[All stats increase by 1 point.]
Aaaaargh! Stop! Please, stop!
It ended with Wrath’s screams echoing like the wails of the damned.
The King of Essence, was wrong! He admits it!
