The Reincarnated Assassin is a Genius Swordsman 1125
Chapter 1125
“Hmm….”
Raon bit his lip as he watched Evelyn’s magic circle being set up in the training ground of the Martial Blade Mountain.
‘There’s not much time left.’
Evelyn was preparing the spell much faster than before, but ever since grandfather’s blood had been found on the letter, too much time had already passed. The worry made my hands start trembling on their own.
‘And besides…’
I also need time to chase after grandfather.
No matter how badly he was injured, he wouldn’t have gone down right away. He most likely fought while retreating, which meant tracking him would take considerable time.
‘Hurry. The spell needs to be completed quickly….’
As Raon couldn’t hide his impatience and kept tapping the hilt of Heavenly Drive with his fingers—
Calm yourself.
Wrath lowered his hand and placed it on Raon’s shoulder.
Even for an archangel, catching that old geezer won’t be an easy task.
He took a deep breath, as if telling Raon not to be impatient.
‘Right. You’re right about that.’
Raon steadied his breathing and nodded.
‘Grandfather has already reached the same level as the heads of the Five Kings and the Three Demons. No matter how strong an archangel may be, he wouldn’t go down easily in a one-on-one fight. It’s just….’
He furrowed his brows and gripped the hilt of Heavenly Drive tightly.
‘If he’s protecting the other Holy Sword Alliance swordsmen, that’s a different story.’
Unlike the former Holy Sword Alliance master Darkan, Rector was a man of deep affection. He would rather sacrifice himself than watch his subordinates die or get hurt, and that made Raon even more worried.
Mmmgh….
Wrath groaned as if he couldn’t argue against that point.
‘Still, your advice about not rushing things is right.’
Raon let out a heavy, constrained breath and nodded.
‘As soon as we arrive. The enemy could be there.’
Once Evelyn completed the magic circle, I would have to immediately track Rector’s trail. So I needed to relax my tense mind and stay focused to prepare for whatever might happen.
“H-he’ll definitely be fine.”
Dorian nodded while clutching his sword tightly.
“Master will be alive and well too.”
He pressed his lips together, recalling Jarek, the Holy Sword Alliance swordsman who had taught him the Mind’s Eye.
“For once, you said something right. Thinking that everyone’s fine and unharmed is the right way to start.”
Martha nodded, saying they should think positively. Hearing such words from her felt strange, but it also gave Raon strength.
“Haaah.”
Raon rotated his wrists and loosened his legs as Evelyn’s magic circle began to glow faintly.
‘If there’s an enemy, I’ll cut them down and move right away.’
Since he would have to run straight toward where Rector was, following the young swallow’s lead, he resonated the Ring of Fire and sent the aura of both the Ten Thousand Flame Cultivation and Glacier coursing through his body so he could smash through anything in his way.
‘You help me too.’
Raon called to Wrath, who was floating in midair.
‘If we finish this properly, I’ll let you eat until you burst—with bead ice cream….’
Enough!
Wrath swung his hand down firmly.
What do you take the King of Essence for! The King of Essence does not make deals with friends, much less family!
He nodded vigorously, saying he’d do everything he could to find Rector as well.
‘…Thanks.’
Raon smiled faintly. Seeing Wrath’s squashed-looking face gave him a bit more strength.
‘Thanks to you, my mind’s easing up, and I’m getting fired up again….’
Raon was about to speak again when—
“Raon!”
Evelyn, standing atop the now-brilliantly glowing magic circle, called out to him.
“I’ll send you first!”
She said she’d send him ahead since taking everyone together would take too long, and activated the circle.
Woooooong!
Mana tracing circular lines rose up like thousand-year-old tree roots, spreading blue light into both sky and ground.
“Just me?”
Raon approached her, asking back.
“Yeah. It’ll take more time to move everyone at once. It’s better to send you first.”
She nodded, as if reading his thoughts from his hardened expression.
‘She adjusted the circle for that, huh.’
It seemed Evelyn had modified the spell after sensing my unease, allowing her to send at least one person ahead.
Normally, she’s the kind of woman who drives people crazy, but in urgent moments like this, she’s one of the most reliable comrades.
“I already sent a letter to your grandfather in Zieghart and I’ll bring everyone else with me.”
She smiled brightly, as if to say there was nothing to worry about.
“Thanks.”
Raon thanked her and stepped into the center of the circle.
“I’ll definitely repay this debt.”
“No need. Just take me on a date after you save your grandfather.”
The moment Evelyn said “It’s a promise,” the magic circle blazed with intense blue light, and Raon’s vision was swallowed by darkness.
Paaaaaaang!
Feeling as though his body had been lifted into the air, Raon opened his eyes again,
and before him stood a white castle, split cleanly in half and crumbling down.
‘This is….’
Grandfather’s sword mark.
It was unmistakably Rector’s sword strike that had cleaved the castle in two.
He must have destroyed this place first, then been ambushed afterward.
‘The attacker….’
Raon bit his lip as he sensed the holy lightning energy spread across the castle and its surroundings.
‘No, now’s not the time for that.’
Grandfather’s location comes first!
He spread his aura perception to the limit, but the remnants of divine power and aura lingering in the air were so dense that he couldn’t sense any clear presence.
‘In that case….’
Raon took out the young swallow he had been carrying in his arms.
“Please. Find my grandfather for me.”
He infused it with the heat of his flame and sent it soaring into the sky.
Piiiiiik!
The swallow immediately spread its wings and flew south, as if it had found the trail.
As you said, it is an archangel!
Wrath lifted his chin and bared his teeth.
The energy intertwined with your grandfather’s aura is pure divine power from an archangel. And there’s only one who uses lightning like that, archangel Ramiel!
He furrowed his brow, certain that among the archangels, this was Ramiel’s doing.
‘Ramiel? Is he that powerful of an archangel?’
He's a bastard with extremely high pride and self-esteem in himself. For an angel, he's a bizarre bastard whose good and evil are unclear. Not a real threat to the King of Essence, of course, but….
Wrath narrowed his eyes ominously.
Because he uses lightning, he's an extremely threatening bastard to humans.
He shook his head, saying that lightning is like a natural enemy to humans.
'It's okay.'
Raon shook his head as he used the Supreme Harmony Steps to catch up with the swallow’s speed.
‘Grandfather will endure, no matter what.’
Etching Rector’s face clearly in his mind, Raon kicked off the ground with all his strength and charged forward.
* * *
Kuwaaaang!
As if heaven itself had grown enraged, spears of lightning rained down one after another, shaking the earth.
The land that had once been a forest was now completely burned away, nothing remained but scorched, crumbling ground.
Kwaaaaaa!
No, at the center of the lightning strikes, the ground had not yet collapsed.
A gaunt old man, holding a sword blazing with blue light, was splitting the colossal bolts apart.
Rector, the Holy Sword Alliance master known as the Sword Demon, despite his grievous injury to his right arm, did not back down against archangel Ramiel’s relentless assault.
Chwaaaaaak!
Rector’s slash, imbued with principles of the versatile sword, cut through the yellow lightning and shot straight toward Ramiel, who stood high in the sky.
“Hmph!”
Ramiel spread his palm, and a lightning-wreathed shield surged forth, swallowing Rector’s sword strike whole.
“Archangels aren’t that impressive after all.”
Rector lifted his sword again, pointing it toward Ramiel, unfazed by the blood and pus dripping down from his shoulder and arm.
“That old man… he’s completely insane….”
Lawrence’s mouth dropped open, as if in awe of Rector’s overwhelming might.
“Master….”
Mustan bit his lip as he noticed Rector’s waist tremble slightly.
‘There’s no way he’s not in pain. If only I hadn’t been there….’
When Rector had been cleaning up Derus’ remaining subordinates in the celestial castle he had just destroyed,
space itself had suddenly torn open, and lightning burst forth.
It had been too fast for Mustan to even react, he had closed his eyes, expecting death, when Rector, who had been in the middle of writing a letter to Raon, immediately came running and blocked the lightning for him.
However, that had been archangel Ramiel’s trap from the start.
Ramiel had targeted Rector all along, not Mustan—
and that attack had left a grievous wound on his arm.
Though he appeared fine now, the lightning of Ramiel still lingered inside his arm and shoulder, inflicting unrelenting pain that made movement itself difficult.
“I’m fine.”
Rector shook his head, as if telling them not to worry.
“No matter what it takes, I’ll get you all out alive.”
He smiled calmly, as he always did, saying that no one would die today.
“No one will die, huh….”
Ramiel withdrew his lightning shield and looked down at Rector with arrogant eyes.
“To think there was a human this strong among nameless mortals. You have earned the right to say such words.”
He nodded, admitting that he was genuinely impressed.
“Of course… that’s only if your opponent weren’t me.”
Riding a cloud flickering with lightning, Ramiel descended to the ground.
“I’ve already analyzed every aspect of your attack patterns.”
Rector raised his sword upright and aimed the tip at the center of Ramiel’s forehead.
“Your lightning is strong and fast, but it’s not beyond what I can handle!”
He curled up the corners of his mouth, saying he could endure and then counterattack.
“This is exactly why humans are no good.”
Ramiel let out a cold, mocking laugh as his gaze swept over Rector.
“What?”
Rector frowned, not understanding what he meant.
“First—”
Ramiel raised one finger.
“I haven’t even used my full power yet.”
As soon as he spoke, the sky split apart, and the largest bolt of lightning yet came crashing down.
Kuwaaaaaaang!
The colossal lightning bolt descended as if to erase the land itself, and for a brief moment, darkness spread across the world like the coming of night.
“Hrrrgh!”
Rector amplified the energy dwelling within his sword, growing into a giant, and thrust toward the falling lightning.
Kuwaaaaaaang!
Yellow lightning and blue sword energy collided head-on, and the shockwave that burst forth twisted and tore apart every visible space around them.
Rector’s sword strike stretched magnificently, sharp enough to split the sky, but Ramiel’s lightning was too massive and powerful to be easily cut through.
Kugugugugugu!
Both the sword and the lightning devoured each other’s energy, forming a thick mass of clouds and crackling thunder before slowly fading away.
“Haaah…”
Rector let out a harsh breath, unlike before, and cold sweat rolled down his forehead. His arm had begun to blacken and die.
“Second—”
Ramiel curled his lips and raised two fingers.
“My specialty isn’t hurling lightning from afar, it’s close combat.”
Even before he finished speaking, bright yellow lightning surged and wrapped around his entire body.
“Now feel it, what true divine punishment is.”
With those words, his body vanished.
Pajijijijik!
With the sound of crackling lightning, a blazing yellow fist appeared right before Rector’s eyes.
Jjeoeoeoeoeng!
Rector reacted beyond human limits to block Ramiel’s punch, but the impact gouged deep footprints into the ground as he was pushed back more than twenty steps.
“Lucky, aren’t you.”
Ramiel let out a derisive snort, as if dismissing Rector’s defense as mere luck.
“But that luck ends now. This time, I’ll punch a hole straight through that body of yours.”
He disappeared again, reappearing behind Rector’s back.
Pajijijijik!
Ramiel swung his lightning-clad fist toward Rector’s left back, where his heart was.
Kwoooong!
Rector twisted his sword backward and blocked the blow as if he could see it coming. The immense power sent him sliding back once more, but the lightning-infused strike failed to break through his guard.
“With that speed, you think you can catch me? Not a chance.”
Rector waved his hand dismissively, saying Ramiel still had a long way to go. Yet blood trickled from his lips, and chunks of dead flesh fell from his arm.
“A worm’s final struggle.”
Ramiel stomped down, shouting that he would erase Rector’s right arm completely.
Whooook!
Exploding lightning filled the air as Ramiel appeared above Rector’s head and brought down a lightning-infused knifehand.
Bbeoeoeoeoek!
Rector’s blackened right arm burst apart like a balloon under Ramiel’s attack.
“This is the difference between humans and celestials….”
It was when Ramiel lifted his chin and was about to form a sneer at Rector.
Kugugugugugu!
Rector, despite having lost his arm, showed no sign of panic. His eyes remained calm as he twisted his body backward.
“What….”
Ramiel’s lips trembled, he hadn’t even imagined this reaction.
"I'll give you the right arm."
Rector gripped his sword with his left hand in place of the arm he had lost, and charged forward with a speed and trajectory that Ramiel couldn’t even begin to react to.
“Unlike those celestials, I will never fall.”
The sword strike, filled with the desperate will of the old swordsman, shone blue like the north star, piercing straight through archangel Ramiel’s chest.
Kwaduduk!
