The Reincarnated Assassin is a Genius Swordsman 1094

 Chapter 1094

Why is it only this bastard…?

Wrath flicked his tail like a carp that had bitten a fishing hook.

How can he be this lucky! Everywhere he goes, luck is bursting like a fountain!

The Demon King of Wrath clutched his head, saying the world was revolving around Raon.

‘It’s true that I’m lucky, but that’s not all.’

Raon calmly shook his head.

‘I kept making plans, put in the effort that followed, and produced results.’

Telling him to think it over, he twitched his fingertips.

Grrrk….

Wrath just chewed on his lips, as though he had nothing more to say.

‘Shall I see how much I got today?’

Raon smiled faintly and was about to check the reward messages when—

“Vessel of Wrath….”

Sloth turned his gaze toward him.

“Come… here….”

Like a sloth, he beckoned slowly, as if he needed him.

“It’s not Vessel of Wrath, it’s Raon!”

Evelyn gripped Sloth by the collar even tighter and shook him.

“And hurry up and hand over the bracelet! Give me the same one too!”

She ground her teeth, saying she wouldn’t let him go until she received a bracelet identical to Raon’s.

“P-please stop! I’ll give you bracelets!”

Dorian shouted for her to release the Demon King, while reaching into his belly pocket.

“You have bracelets?”

Evelyn turned her head, her eyes widening.

“Yes! I carry them around because they’re a necessity!”

Dorian nodded, then pulled out dozens of bracelets from his belly pocket. They were all black bracelets.

“Wow!”

Evelyn tossed Sloth aside and immediately began checking the bracelets.

“Haa….”

Muttering that he was saved, Dorian let out a sigh.

Why does that wallet carry so many bracelets? And all of them black?

Wrath blew out a baffled sigh, saying he just couldn’t understand it.

‘He probably has just as many in other colors too.’

Given Dorian’s personality, it was certain that he would be carrying not only black ones, but also bracelets of other colors in the same quantity.

“There aren’t any…! There isn’t a single flower bracelet exactly like Raon’s!”

Evelyn furrowed her brows, saying that while they looked similar, each one was a little different.

“That one isn’t really a necessity….”

“That’s the real necessity! If it doesn’t exist, then make one and give it to me!”

She now grabbed Dorian by the collar instead of Sloth and shook him.

“I-I’ll have one custom-made and bring it! Just wait a little….”

“Bring it right now!”

“Urgh!”

Even while being tormented by Evelyn, Dorian wore a faint smile, glad that he had prevented the Demon King from going out of control.

‘Well done.’

Raon gave Dorian a thumbs-up as a gesture of appreciation for his effort, then approached Sloth.

“Why did you call me? To tell me to teach Runaan well?”

“No….”

Sloth slowly shook his head.

“That child… fundamentally… holds the concept called sloth… in her soul…. Like a living thing… naturally breathing… she’ll be able to handle sloth… without difficulty…. She’ll probably… use it even better than you…”

He blinked his eyes, saying Runaan had a talent for handling sloth.

“She’ll handle sloth better than me?”

“Actually, you’re… the strange one…. You… despite not having… the emotion of sloth… are handling… sloth freely…. It wouldn’t be strange… to call it a miracle….”

Sloth let out a dull breath, saying that by nature Raon is a human who cannot possess sloth.

“See for yourself….”

Pointing with his finger at Runaan, he spoke.

“That’s the appearance of… a human who capable…. of gaining… sloth….”

Runaan, despite the seriousness of the situation, half-closed her eyes as if sleep were overtaking her again, drooling as she did.

“Y-yeah, you’re right.”

Raon swallowed dryly as he looked at Runaan, who was blinking her eyes.

“However… it would be good… for you to stay by her side….”

Sloth lowered his hand lightly.

“Why?”

“Because your sloth… is far greater… than that child’s… the more you stay by her side… the better influence she’ll receive….”

He nodded, saying that the more Raon stayed with her, the stronger Runaan’s Sloth would grow.

“It’s hard to be with her constantly, but I’ll try to stay as close as I can.”

Raon nodded while looking at Runaan.

“That should be enough, right?”

“No….”

Sloth slowly raised his finger.

“The reason I called you… is because of… the war with the archangels….”

“What do you mean?”

Raon narrowed his eyes.

“When the war… with the archangels happens… I’ll tell you… a way to… call me…. But before that….”

Sloth closed his eyes for a moment, then opened them again.

“I want to hear… what you truly… desire….”

He lowered his chin gravely, as if to say he needed to know clearly.

“What I truly desire?”

“That child… will serve as the medium… linking you and me… but even so… the sloth will still be lacking….”

“That’s true.”

“Do you…. want to… consume the… authority… you possess, even… if it means… going beyond… your limits, to summon… my true body? Or… would you rather… leave your own power… as it is, and… summon me only… with the sloth connected… through that child?”

Since a medium in the form of Runaan had appeared, Sloth said he would ask again and looked at Raon.

“That’s a simple question.”

Raon gave a faint smile and nodded.

“I will….”

*   *   *

“I’m telling you, he’s really a Demon King!”

The Golden Dragon Paratheus flailed his hands wildly.

“I’m certain! There’s no way you can fool the eyes of us dragons, guardians of the middle world!” (realm)

He shouted that Sloth was the Demon King of Sloth.

“Then what about that child?”

War King Yuber let out a deep sigh as he looked at Paratheus.

“The human you call a Demon King slept for five days straight, just like her.”

He shook his head, telling him to think back to what he had said five days ago.

“I-I can’t explain that part either….”

Paratheus averted his gaze, admitting even he couldn’t explain that.

“Anyway, I’m certain! Believe me!”

He clasped his hands together, pleading to be trusted.

“Hey. Enough nonsense. Go fix the forest you wrecked.”

The Sword Sovereign Sieran approached Paratheus from the side.

“You wasted five days loafing around, saying you were trying to figure out whether he’s a demon king or whatever. Now get to work!”

She shouted at him to move and kicked him in the butt.

“Aaaagh!”

Paratheus toppled to the ground with a scream.

“This body is weak! It might burst! Control your strength a little, you gorilla!”

He gnashed his teeth, glaring at the Sword Sovereign.

“Hmm?”

“Uhp…”

As the Sword Sovereign furrowed his brows, Paratheus clamped his mouth shut.

“But I’m telling you, he really is a Demon King….”

Yet only a few seconds later, he was already moving his lips again, insisting that Sloth was a Demon King.

“Let’s suppose, according to you, that the human sleeping at the mountain’s peak is the demon king.”

The War King closed his eyes, then opened them, standing in front of Paratheus.

“What exactly has he done wrong?”

He jerked his chin, telling him to answer.

“What…?”

Paratheus narrowed his eyes, as if he didn’t understand.

“If he really is the Demon King of Sloth like you claim, I’m asking what wrong he has done. From what I saw, he was just sleeping peacefully.”

The War King’s voice sank low.

“On the contrary, the ones who destroyed nature and frightened the monsters into attacking people were you and me.”

He pointed toward the ruined foot of Stallin Mountain.

“The Demon King of Sloth who only slept, and us, who destroyed the mountain and caused people to die, even if unintentionally. Which one seems more like a Demon King?”

The War King bent his sharp gaze, demanding an answer.

“Th-that’s….”

Paratheus pressed his lips tight, unable to reply.

“To be honest, I don’t think that human is an ordinary being either. As you said, he could really be a Demon King. But even if he is, I don’t see what he’s done wrong to deserve death.”

The War King frowned as he looked at Paratheus.

“Doesn’t it seem strange, if you think about it? Why do we have to kill a Demon King who hasn’t done anything, while the archangels who follow the villain Derus are left alone?”

He wrinkled the bridge of his nose, saying he couldn’t understand the dragons’ way of thinking.

“Hm, now that you mention it….”

Paratheus cleared his throat and straightened his back.

“I don’t know why I was so intent on killing the demon king no matter what.”

He shook his head, saying that as soon as he saw Sloth, a murderous intent had boiled up inside him to an abnormal degree.

“Right now, I have no need to follow the dragons’ rules….”

Paratheus scratched his cheek as if he couldn’t understand his own emotions.

“Then maybe the celestials might have planted preconceptions into both the dragons and the continent.”

While the War King and Paratheus were deep in thought, Raon’s voice came from behind them.

“Preconceptions?”

Paratheus lifted his brows.

“The celestials are said to be good and righteous, while the demons are said to be evil and insidious. That’s the continent’s basic concept, the common sense. But the demons I’ve seen weren’t simply beings of pure evil. Likewise, the celestials weren’t beings of pure goodness and righteousness.”

Raon twisted his lips and nodded.

“No matter how you look at it, it seems the archangels and the celestials planted concepts in this world that favored themselves.”

Hearing Paratheus’ words, Raon became certain. It was undoubtedly the archangels who had planted the preconceptions of celestials and demons into the continent and even swayed the dragons.

“I’d like to call it nonsense….”

Paratheus let out a low groan as he looked at Raon.

“But it doesn’t look completely impossible.”

He nodded, admitting that Raon’s words sounded plausible.

“Th-then, was that sleepyhead really a Demon King?”

The Sword Sovereign gaped as she looked up at Stallin Mountain.

“Yes. That’s right.”

Raon gave a faint smile and nodded.

“As Sir Paratheus said, he is the Demon King of Sloth.”

Since the War King already seemed to have realized it, Raon spoke honestly to earn his trust even more.

“Oh my! Sorry!”

The Sword Sovereign quickly brushed off Paratheus’s backside, which she had kicked so hard earlier.

“Snf….”

Paratheus sniffled, as though sadness was welling up inside him.

“It looks like we’ll need to reexamine the continent’s history. It’s certain that someone has been pulling strings.”

Raon lifted his gaze to the sky, his eyes turning cold.

“Th-then… are we going back to the house?”

Dorian panted as though he wanted to return to Zieghart as quickly as possible.

“Yes. Everyone, please get ready to head back to Zieghart.”

Raon raised his hand toward the Sword Sovereign, the War King, and Paratheus.

“We are always ready to follow our lord.”

The War King bowed his head, saying they could leave this very moment.

“I’ve already got everything packed!”

The Sword Sovereign grinned broadly, urging to depart immediately.

“I-I’m a little scared, though. The Destructive King of the North is our race’s killer….”

Paratheus swallowed dryly, saying he felt his head would be lopped off the moment he met Glenn.

“It’s fine. As long as you go with me, nothing like that will happen.”

Raon smiled and nodded.

“You three should get ready as well—hmm?”

He turned his back, about to tell Runaan, Evelyn, and Dorian to prepare for their return.

“……”

Runaan was staring at the peak of Stallin Mountain, wrapped up in her blanket.

“……”

Sloth too had a blanket wrapped around him, looking down from above.

“……”

“……”

Runaan and Sloth turned their bodies at the same time, without saying a word, just like when they first met.

It seemed like a form of greeting between beings who truly possessed sloth, something an ordinary person like himself could never do.

What a ridiculous sight….

*   *   *

“Young master!”

Yua ran up and threw herself into Raon’s arms.

“Did you have a good time with your grandfather?”

Raon stroked her hair with a gentle smile.

“Yes! I didn’t even realize a whole month had passed!”

Yua laughed happily, saying it had been wonderful to spend the month with her grandpa.

“Thank you.”

Yua’s grandfather bowed his head to Raon.

“Thanks to you, Sir Raon, I was able to spend joyful days with my granddaughter after a long time.”

He bowed again, grateful that Raon always looked after and cared for Yua.

“I should be the one thanking you. Yua is a talent indispensable to the Light Wind Palace.”

Raon firmly grasped Yua’s shoulder and bent his waist.

“You heard that, right! Without me, the Light Wind can’t function!”

Delighted by Raon’s praise, Yua lifted her chin proudly.

“Isn’t that right?”

She jerked her chin at Yulius.

“Ah, uh? U-uh….”

Yulius, who had been staring blankly at Yua, flushed red in embarrassment and let out only a strange sound.

“You’re leaving already?”

Milland smacked his lips in regret.

“Yes. We’ve finished everything we came to do, so it’s time to return.”

Raon smiled and nodded.

“Now that the matter of Stallin Mountain has been settled, the monster attacks will lessen from here on.”

He said that, like before, monsters would only be seen on very rare occasions, and smiled.

“Ooooh!”

“As expected of Sir Raon!”

“Once the Sword Emperor arrives, everything gets solved at once!”

The rangers and knights cheered, saying they could finally rest.

“You fools!”

Milland furrowed his brow, displeased at the sight.

“You grow strong only by fighting! You must fight!”

He kicked the nearby knights, calling them pathetic.

“Castellan.”

Raon stepped up to Milland, who was shouting in anger, and lowered his voice.

“As you know, a great war that will decide the fate of the continent is coming. When that time comes, will you fight alongside us?”

Since Habun Castle at the northern edge could not avoid the war of the Five Kings and Three Demons, Raon bowed his head first, asking him to join the war.

“Fight alongside you? That’s the wrong question.”

Milland shook his head firmly.

“I—no, we of Habun Castle—stand with Zieghart, always!”

He stomped his foot roughly and let out a roar imbued with aura.

“Uoooooooh!”

The knights and rangers raised their fighting spirit, unleashing an even harsher roar that would not lose to Milland’s.

“Just from the atmosphere here, it feels like we’ve already won. Thank you.”

Raon smiled and bowed respectfully.

“Forget useless thanks. Take this instead.”

Milland handed Raon an emblem bearing the symbol of the white fortress wall.

“This is….”

“It means Habun Castle supports Raon Zieghart as the successor of Zieghart.”

He placed the emblem on his palm, telling Raon to show it to Glenn.

“Castellan….”

“I still haven’t forgotten the day when you, just a kid back then, first came into Habun Castle. They say a tree with deep roots will not be shaken by any storm. You have truly grown well.”

Milland nodded with a solemn gaze, saying just looking at Raon filled him with pride.

“…Thank you.”

Raon looked at the emblem of Habun Fortress resting on his palm and bit his lips.

“If you are grateful, then become an even greater lord than the current head of house.”

Milland smiled, saying that would be enough.

“Whether I can or not, I don’t know, but….”

Raon carefully clasped the emblem in his hand.

“I will do my utmost.”

*   *   *

“This is Lady Sieran, descendant of the Sword Sect, known by the nickname Sword Sovereign.”

Standing at her side, Raon raised his hand in respectful introduction.

“You remember me, right? To think I’d meet the Destructive King of the North again like this.”

The Sword Sovereign waved with a faint smile.

“This is Sir Yuber, descendant of the Saber Sect, known by the nickname War King.”

Moving one step aside, he introduced the War King.

“War King Yuber greets the Destructive King of the North.”

The War King pressed his hands together and bowed deeply.

“Lastly, this is Sir Paratheus, ancient dragon of the Golden Tribe.”

He stepped back and pointed to Paratheus at the far left.

“It’s Paratheus… sir.”

Paratheus had been about to speak informally, but after catching Glenn’s gaze, he hastily added a touch of politeness at the end.

“These three said they wished to join me.”

Raon explained that he had received the allegiance of the three, then bowed to Glenn, who was seated upon the throne, before straightening again.

Whoooosh.

A whitish something escaped from Glenn’s mouth. His expression and gaze, upon hearing the introductions of the Sword Sovereign, the War King, and Parateus, were so bizarre they couldn’t be described in words.

Yo-your grandpa’s ascending to heaven right now!

Wrath waved his hands frantically toward Glenn.

Stop him at once!

  1. I think during the final war arc Raon might exhaust all his authorities to summon the demon kings at full power.
That would kind of be his way of giving back what he received that he mentioned he wanted to do a couple times now.
Who knows he might even give back all his Wrath too but I doubt it would work in the same way as summoning the others at full power.
