The Reincarnated Assassin is a Genius Swordsman 1093

 Chapter 1093

“Uh….”

Raon scratched his head as he looked at Runaan and Sloth, who had fallen asleep at the same time as if competing.

“W-what is this?”

Normally, he wouldn’t have responded to Wrath’s words, but the unexpected situation forced him to open his mouth.

‘Why didn’t they say anything to each other and just go straight to sleep!’

Because I had already explained the situation to Sloth, I thought he would either talk with Runaan and then hand over his authority, or say it couldn’t be done, but I never imagined he’d just fall asleep right away without saying anything.

‘Was Sloth’s test done in this way?’

Raon turned his dazed eyes toward Wrath.

Even the King of Essence does not know!

Wrath waved his hand as if to say, “Don’t ask me.”.

That guy, after today, isn’t just a sleepyhead, he’s a complete lunatic!

He gnashed his teeth, declaring that from now on he wouldn’t even treat Sloth as a demon king.

‘Still, at least it doesn’t seem like she was rejected.’

Raon let out a sigh of relief.

‘With Sloth’s personality, if he didn’t like it, he would’ve refused on the spot.’

Though he was easygoing and relaxed, Sloth was also the type to say clearly what needed to be said. Since he hadn’t spoken and had instead fallen asleep, he must have felt something from Runaan.

‘If it’s Runaan, she’ll be able to pass.’

Among everyone he knew, there was no human who slept more than Runaan. Even Rimmer, who was unrivaled in laziness, was no match for Runaan when it came to sleep.

“Uhm…”

Dorian approached Raon cautiously.

“Right now, the Demon King of Sloth is testing Lady Runaan, right?”

Since he had heard the whole conversation, he licked his lips curiously.

“Seems that way.”

Raon nodded as he looked at Runaan and Sloth, both making the same soft snoring sounds.

“Th-then… when is this going to end?”

Dorian scratched his cheek, as if that were the most important part.

“As far as I know, once Lady Runaan properly falls asleep, she won’t wake up even if someone carries her away. And that demon king, he didn’t wake up even once during the entire month you were training, Sir Raon!”

He shuddered, saying that at this rate, they might end up spending another whole month here.

“Hmm…”

Raon frowned as he looked at Runaan, who was sleeping with her blanket rolled up around her.

“But still, Runaan’s human. Shouldn’t she wake up after, say, two days?”

Sloth, as the Demon King of Sloth, had no limit when it came to sleep, but Runaan was human. She couldn’t possibly sleep that long.

“That’s true. A person’s sleep has its limits.”

Evelyn gently stroked Runaan’s sleeping face with the back of her hand, as though she found her adorable like a child. Strangely, though, there seemed to be some power behind her fingertips.

‘Come to think of it…’

Raon narrowed his eyes as he looked at Evelyn.

‘I wonder if Evelyn could be connected to Lust, like Runaan and Sloth.’

Not with Lust’s authority of <Lust> itself, but through her obsessive nature, it might be possible to forge a connection between them.

Tap.

As Raon smacked his lips at the thought of Lust, the Sword Sovereign and the War King climbed up to the peak of Stallin Mountain.

Beside them was a blond young man with slumped shoulders, apparently the Golden Dragon, Paratheus, in human form.

“Hmm?”

The Sword Sovereign widened her eyes as she spotted Runaan sleeping beside Sloth.

“Looks like we’ve gained another cute friend?”

She gave a faint smile, as if finding Runaan’s sleeping appearance adorable.

“This child is also far too strong for her young age.”

The War King exhaled in admiration as he sensed Runaan’s martial strength.

“Zieghart truly seems to be filled only with monsters.”

He nodded, impressed by Runaan just as he had been by Raon.

“Not that human—look at that one!”

Paratheus pointed a trembling finger at Sloth.

“That’s the Demon King of Sloth! A human could never sleep like that. Make sure you see it for yourself!”

His golden eyes flashed, as if he had already confirmed Sloth’s true identity.

“Not this again!”

The Sword Sovereign frowned and smacked the back of his head.

“I told you to stop.”

The War King pushed his mouth shut with a flick.

Thwack!

Paratheus was struck on the back of the head and mouth at the same time, collapsing forward and planting his face into the ground.

“Ugh…”

Even as he groaned, he couldn’t take his eyes off Sloth.

“You’ll see! You’ll see! I’m absolutely right!”

Paratheus shouted, refusing to take his eyes off Sloth.

“Sigh, forgive us.”

“We have no excuse to offer our lord.”

The Sword Sovereign and the War King bowed their heads, admitting they had raised the dragon poorly.

“It’s fine.”

Raon curled his lips slightly as he watched Paratheus’ eyes filled with certainty.

“As he says, if we keep watching, the misunderstanding will be cleared.”

*   *   *

Five days had passed since Runaan and Sloth fell asleep. Neither had woken even once, only letting out faint breaths.

“See! I was right!”

Paratheus stomped his foot and glared at Sloth.

“Have you ever seen a human who isn’t unconscious or sick sleep for five whole days?”

He clenched his fists, convinced now that Sloth was a demon king.

“Don’t stop me this time! I’ll erase that bastard—”

“Hey.”

The Sword Sovereign’s usually kind and gentle face twisted like that of a starving beast.

“With those flashy eyes of yours, you can’t see the child lying right next to him?”

She growled, pointing at Runaan, who was sleeping on Sloth’s other side.

“What?”

Paratheus blinked, confused by her words.

“Paratheus.”

The War King sighed and stepped up beside him.

“What does that child look like to you?”

He pointed his finger at Runaan.

“She’s human, obviously.”

Paratheus frowned, as if the question were absurd.

“Then do you know how long that child has been sleeping?”

“She’s been asleep since we got here, so… five days—huh!”

He finally realized that Runaan had been sleeping for exactly the same time as Sloth, his jaw dropping.

“There’s a human right in front of you who’s been asleep for five whole days without being unconscious or sick. How are you going to explain that?”

The War King tilted his chin, telling him to answer with that sharp tongue of his.

“Th-this makes no sense…?”

Paratheus gasped as he looked at Runaan.

“What is she? How can a human sleep for five days straight!”

He clutched his head, unable to comprehend Runaan.

“…”

Raon stayed silent, but he agreed with Paratheus in his heart.

‘I never thought Runaan could sleep this much either.’

I had expected her to wake naturally after a couple of days, but to not stir even once in five whole days, it made her seem less than human.

“Let’s start again.”

The Sword Sovereign gave Paratheus a friendly pat.

“Who did you say that was?”

She lifted her finger and pointed at Runaan.

“S-she’s human, but… is she really human?”

Paratheus’ voice trembled, as if he couldn’t be certain.

“She is! Human! Definitely!”

He nodded, saying she might sleep a lot, but she was indeed human.

“Then what about that one?”

The Sword Sovereign shifted her finger toward Sloth.

“A-a demon king? No, a human…? I don’t know….”

Paratheus’ eyes began to waver, as if Runaan was making him confused about Sloth’s true identity.

“Get a grip! That one is a demon king. Absolutely a demon king!”

He slapped his own cheek and shouted again, calling Sloth a demon king.

Thwack!

The Sword Sovereign kicked Paratheus squarely in the rear. This time, she had put quite a bit of strength into it.

“Argh!”

Paratheus grabbed his backside and shot up into the air.

“That’s it. You need a proper beating.”

The Sword Sovereign hooked her arm around Paratheus’ neck.

“I’ll train you so thoroughly you’ll be calling the sun the moon.”

Muttering for him to look forward to it, she dragged Paratheus and leapt down the mountain.

“My apologies. This time, we’ll be sure to teach him properly.”

The War King bowed politely, then followed the Sword Sovereign down the mountain.

“Aaaaaahhh!”

Not long after the two and the dragon went down, a scream tearing at the throat rang out.

Ugh….

Wrath glanced down the mountain and furrowed his brow.

This is the first time the King of Essence has ever pitied a lizard.

He shook his head, saying the dragon had gone beyond being a doormat to the point of looking pitiful.

You knew it would turn out like this, didn’t you?

‘That’s right.’

Raon smiled and nodded.

‘Because I thought Runaan would hold out well. Though I never imagined it would last as long as five days.’

He had thought that thanks to Runaan, suspicion about Sloth would be cleared, but five days was a time far beyond what he expected.

“Lady Runaan really is something else….”

Dorian looked at Runaan and shook his head side to side. He had set up a large camp, lay on a warm bed, and was chewing on snacks, it seemed he had fully settled in by now.

“Indeed. And it’s not even a sleep spell, can a person really sleep that much?”

Evelyn too tilted her head, as if surprised by Runaan’s appetite for sleep.

“I wish she’d just wake up already.”

Just as Raon let out a short sigh—

“Hmm…”

Runaan slowly lifted her eyelids.

“I want bead ice cream….”

She smacked her lips and blinked her blank eyes.

“Dorian.”

Raon beckoned to Dorian.

“Yes, sir!”

As if he had been waiting for this, Dorian pulled bead ice cream out of his belly pocket and handed it to Runaan.

“Thanks….”

Runaan bowed her head and immediately began eating the bead ice cream. Looking at her, it really did seem like she had woken up just because she wanted to eat it.

‘Seen like this… she really doesn’t seem human either.’

To sleep for five days straight and wake only to eat bead ice cream, Runaan looked stranger than Sloth.

“Did you always sleep this long?”

Raon tilted his head as he stepped closer to her.

“It’s cool here, so I sleep well….”

Runaan gave a faint smile, saying it was the first time in a while she had slept so well. For her, it was an unusually large show of emotion.

‘Could it be she’s been influenced by Sloth next to her? If so….’

Just as Raon narrowed his eyes at Runaan’s blank gaze—

Ssshh.

Sloth threw off the blanket that had covered him up to his head and rose leisurely from the bed.

Thunk.

Runaan also set down the ice cream she had been eating and slowly straightened her body.

“….”

“….”

Without a word, Runaan and Sloth walked toward each other. Standing face to face right in front of each other, they thrust out their right hands.

Slaaap!

A sharp high five. Runaan and Sloth clapped their hands together with intensity, as if celebrating their satisfying sleep.

Wrath, watching the scene, muttered just one word.

Ridiculous….

*   *   *

“There really… was one….”

Sloth gave a heavy nod.

“A human… like me….”

He looked at Runaan with eyes brimming with goodwill.

“You also… slept a lot…?”

Runaan blinked, saying it was the first time she had met someone who could match her sleep. She, too, was acknowledging Sloth.

“What is… your name…?”

Sloth tilted his chin at her.

“Runaan Sullion….”

Runaan swallowed a mouthful of bead ice cream and gave her name.

“Runaan Sullion…. What is… your goal…?”

Unexpectedly, Sloth asked Runaan about her goal first.

“I still haven’t finished what I have to do….”

Runaan fiddled with her blanket and bit her lip.

“I want to give that person rest… and then sleep peacefully….”

Even after sleeping for five days, she nodded, saying she still wanted to sleep deeply.

‘That person must be….’

Raon let out a short sigh as he looked at Runaan’s face, which had dimmed slightly.

‘Syria Sullion.’

Syria Sullion’s corpse and helmet had disappeared, and in the black market and the Shadow Agents, traces of the Evil Goat Demon wearing the goat helmet had been found.

Since the monster called Baphomet possesses the trait of having two lives, Syria must surely still be alive.

It seemed that Runaan wanted to certainly kill the revived Syria Sullion and grant him peace.

“Vessel of Wrath….”

Sloth slowly turned his gaze to Raon.

“I will acknowledge it… This human… has the qualification….”

He nodded, declaring Runaan to be a human capable of receiving the authority of sloth.

“I told you, she would.”

Raon smiled as he placed his hand on Runaan’s shoulder.

“Runaan Sullion…. I will pass… my authority… to you…. Will you accept it…?”

Sloth tilted his chin, as if leaving it to Runaan’s decision.

“I’ll accept it….”

After quietly gazing at Raon, Runaan nodded calmly. Even though she was about to receive a demon king’s authority, she showed not a hint of fear.

“<Sloth>… will help… your will… your wish….”

As Sloth flicked his finger, a black flower bracelet sprouted on Runaan’s wrist, the same as Raon’s.

“It’s the same as Raon’s…?”

Runaan touched the black flower bracelet and gave a faint smile.

“Huh? Oh!”

Evelyn’s eyes widened as she watched.

“Hey! Demon King! Give me one too! Hand over the exact same thing right now!”

She grabbed Sloth by the collar and shook him, demanding he give her the same bracelet.

“Gyaaah! Stop it!”

Dorian grabbed her arm and tried to pull her back, shouting that the demon king would go out of control.

“Yaaawn…. You… have no qualification….”

Even as Evelyn had him by the collar and was shaking him, Sloth let out a long yawn, as if drowsiness were overtaking him.

Ugh, my head hurts.

Wrath sighed, holding his forehead.

There isn’t a single sane one here….

‘That’s true.’

Runaan was a monster who could sleep for five days, Evelyn was grabbing the demon king’s collar demanding a bracelet, and Dorian was dragging Evelyn back. It was truly a dizzying sight.

“How do you use this…?”

Runaan asked Sloth how to use the bracelet.

“That bracelet… is not only connected to me… but also to the vessel of Wrath…. All you have to do… is live as you normally do….”

Sloth nodded, saying that if Runaan simply continued sleeping as usual, she would naturally grow stronger.

“Really…?”

Runaan’s mouth formed a circle.

“Wow…!”

She jumped like a rabbit, happier than she had ever been.

“All I need to do is just sleep…?”

“Rather than training alone… all day long… it would be better… to sleep….”

Sloth nodded, telling her to just keep sleeping as she had been.

“Then I’ll go to sleep right away….”

Even though she had only just woken up, Runaan rolled herself back up in her blanket, saying she would sleep again.

“Not now! Later!”

Raon let out a sigh as he stopped her.

[You have achieved a legendary feat.]

[The reclusive Trancenders have acknowledged you as their lord.]

[You have gained the acknowledgment of <Sloth> and connected a new medium.]

[All stats….]

[Trait….]

The dimension split open, and blue messages began to rise before Raon’s eyes, so many that they blocked his vision.

Grkkk! Th-there are too many….

Wrath, exhausted from trying to read the flood of reward messages, collapsed and foamed at the mouth like a crab stranded on the mudflats.

‘Looking at this….’

It wasn’t the messages Raon looked at, he smirked as he watched Wrath collapse in fright.

‘I wonder what grandfather’s expression will be like.’

And how many golden tablets I’ll get.
