The Reincarnated Assassin is a Genius Swordsman 1084
Chapter 1084
“You are… a kind… human….”
Sloth’s murky black eyes twisted at a grotesque angle as they bent toward Raon.
“But… I cannot… forgive… you for constantly… disturbing my sleep….”
From beneath his feet, a black current flared up and stretched out in all directions.
Crack, crackle!
The blanket and pillow Raon had once given him were torn apart as if they had never existed, and over them poured a chillingly pitch-black storm.
“Hmm….”
Raon felt the intense authority Sloth was raising and bit his lip.
‘Even though he knows I am Wrath’s vessel, he still acts like this?’
This is looking very dangerous.
Even while knowing I could call Wrath at any moment, Sloth spewed out dreadful energy wave as if to kill me regardless.
He seemed so enraged that he didn’t care about what came after.
That bastard, he’s right on the verge of exploding.
Wrath narrowed his eyes as he scanned Sloth up and down.
‘Hasn’t he already exploded?’
Raon let out a dry breath, feeling Sloth’s energy growing stronger and stronger.
If Sloth had exploded, your head would have disappeared long ago.
Wrath smacked his lips, saying that Sloth was barely keeping his reason under control.
‘Why is he this angry?’
Raon frowned, glancing around the spot where Sloth had been sleeping.
‘It wasn’t something I did, and he’s not the type to get this furious just because he was woken up once.’
Sloth had been woken up several times before because of the war between Eden and Habun Castle.
But except for that last time, he hadn’t come down from Stallin Mountain, so I couldn’t understand why he was this furious now.
The King of Essence doesn’t know either.
Wrath nodded as if in agreement.
He told you before, that sleepyhead is one of the gentler ones among the Demon Kings. For him to get angry like that right away is strange….
‘Wait.’
Raon furrowed his brows as Sloth loomed ever larger, like a shadow stretching at sunset.
‘A moment ago, Sloth said his sleep kept being disturbed, right?’
Ah! Then….
‘Right. That shockwave we felt earlier wasn’t the first one.’
The massive shockwaves we had felt before climbing Stallin Mountain must have happened repeatedly, waking Sloth again and again, so it was no wonder he was this furious.
“Why… disturb… my sleep…. As long as… it isn’t that….”
Sloth’s patience seemed to have reached its limit, and he unleashed such colossal authority of sloth that it could erase Stallin Mountain entirely.
Rumble, rumble, rumble!
Just by looking at the surging energy of Sloth, it felt like my knees would buckle and my waist would bend.
What rotten luck. It’s like getting hit by bird droppings while just passing by.
Wrath nodded now in understanding.
Whoever did this….
‘Unfortunately, this isn’t the time to think about that.’
Raon shook his head as he circulated the Ten Thousand Flames Cultivation and Glacier. With just a single misstep in focus, his life could be taken, leaving no room to think of anything else.
For a sly rascal, your brain isn’t working today.
Wrath snorted through his nose as if calling him pathetic.
Like you did before, if you just unleashed the King of Essence’s authority and pulled off that damned acting, it would work, wouldn’t it.
He shook his head, saying that Sloth’s reason hadn’t completely disappeared yet.
Your damn head is stiff too….
‘No.’
Raon calmly shook his head. He endured Sloth’s authority head-on and smiled.
‘A chance to test my own strength has come to me on its own, how could I just let it pass by?’
Just as Wrath had said, if I unleashed Wrath’s authority and acted as the Demon King, I could calm Sloth, who hadn’t fully lost his mind yet.
But doing that would mean losing my one chance to have my own martial strength, grown over the past month, properly tested.
You crazy bastard!
Wrath’s eyes went wide in disbelief.
It’s still too much for you!
He shook his head firmly, saying that defeating Sloth would be difficult.
‘I know that.’
You really could die!
‘Even if it’s a little dangerous….’
Raon drew Heavenly Drive and the Wooden Ring Sword, plunging them into the lake where the authority of sloth writhed.
Thud!
The sloth that shook heaven and earth was erased, and crimson and blue flashes shot upward.
Claaang!
A golden sun and a silver moon rose above the pitch-black night sky, pushing back the darkness summoned by the Demon King.
“If you think I’m the same as before….”
Raon raised the divine sword and demonic sword, blazing with solemn flame and stern frost, and aimed them at Sloth.
“You’ll never sleep again for the rest of your life.”
* * *
“You’ve returned?”
Burren bowed to Karoon, who had come back to the Central Martial Palace.
“Hmm.”
Karoon narrowed his eyes at the sweat dripping down Burren’s forehead.
“Have you been training all this time?”
He shook his chin as if to ask why he was still training at such a late hour.
“I had things to take care of during the day, so I loosened up my body a bit later.”
Buren bowed his head, saying he had been busy and couldn’t help it.
“Did things go well where you went?”
“Not bad.”
Karoon raised his right hand. In his grasp was a golden tablet that looked as though he had just received it.
“A-already, a golden tablet?”
Burren’s jaw trembled as he stared at the golden tablet glinting in the moonlight.
“I captured a wanted criminal. Disgustingly enough, that murderer was gathering people and playing at being king.”
Karoon shook his hand roughly, as if disgusted.
“A w-wanted criminal? Who did you catch to receive a golden tablet….”
Burren swallowed dryly and asked the name of the criminal.
“North Sea Demon Star.”
“T-the North Sea Demon Star? That’s the killer who disappeared decades ago! How could you catch someone like that!”
The North Sea Demon Star was a fiend who killed countless people within Zieghart territory before fleeing.
Even then, he had Grandmaster-level strength, and was such a cold-blooded man that he threw away his own children and subordinates as bait. He was thought to be impossible to find anymore, so I couldn’t imagine how father caught him.
“While searching for the Four Demons before the war with the White Blood Religion, I found traces of the North Sea Demon Star. The informants of the Central Martial Palace went through a lot of trouble.”
Karoon nodded, saying it was the result of not just himself but the entire Central Martial Palace working hard.
“Decades ago, he was a highest Grandmaster level, and it was said that his mental world was outstanding, so I had some expectations. But his muscles were so clogged with fat that there was no satisfaction in fighting him.”
He clicked his tongue briefly, disappointed in the North Sea Demon Star’s skill.
“W-well, still, that’s incredible….”
Burren let out a hollow laugh. He had known Karoon would move quickly, but he never imagined he would come back with a golden tablet in just a few days.
“It’s nothing to think of as incredible.”
Karoon shook his head heavily.
“This is just the beginning.”
He clenched his fist calmly, as if to say he would stack up even more achievements.
“What about you, what will you do?”
Karoon narrowed his gaze, as if curious about Burren’s resolve.
“I….”
Burren met Karoon’s gaze and bit his lip.
“I want to challenge the position of head of house as well. I know it’s close to impossible, but even so….”
“Good thought.”
Karoon did not dismiss Burren’s will, instead, he nodded.
“Eh?”
Burren’s eyes widened in disbelief.
“I-I thought you would of course call it nonsense….”
“As you said, the chances are almost none. No, it’s impossible.
Karoon gave a faint smile as he looked into Burren’s eyes.
“But if you challenge it, there will certainly be something to gain.”
He patted Burren’s shoulder, as if telling him to give it his best.
“Th-thank you….”
Burren stood there blankly for a moment before bowing his head.
‘To think he would say the same thing as Raon.’
I never imagined father would encourage my challenge for successor with the same words Raon had once given me. My mouth wouldn’t close from the surprise.
“Hmm.”
Karoon was about to enter the mansion, then stopped.
“I heard Raon left the house regardless of the mission. Is that true?”
He slowly turned his gaze, as if already knowing Raon’s movements.
“Ah, yes. But it’s not that he’s looking down on the successor test. In his own way, Raon….”
“I know. Most likely, even now….”
Karoon lifted his gaze to the dim night sky with a gentle smile.
“Doing something special for the house and for himself.”
He smiled, as if he knew Raon’s intentions completely.
“Still, I don’t intend to lose.”
Karoon softly curled his lips upward and stepped into the mansion. Having completed his mission and returned, his footsteps strangely felt as though they carried even greater strength.
‘Father too….’
Burren’s fingertips trembled as he looked at Karoon’s back, which seemed even broader than Raon’s.
‘Is he stepping into another realm?’
* * *
Flame, frost, and darkness surged, twisting the lofty and deep night sky of the north sea.
Kuwaaaaang!
Raon swung the divine sword and the demonic sword, cutting apart the black currents that rushed at him violently. He put so much strength into it that veins bulged on his jaw and cheeks.
Whooosh!
Sloth spread the black currents wide like the roots of a tree, as if determined never to let Raon go.
“Not so fast.”
Raon raised the divine sword and the demonic sword, clad in red and blue radiance, and slashed the surging black current of energy in the shape of the character eight (八), like a wave being cleaved apart.
But Sloth’s energy was so tough and dense that not even the divine and demonic swords could completely cut through it.
‘Feels like my shoulder is about to pop out.’
Even after activating the Sword Field Creation and using the Fangs of Insanity and Blizzard Sword Art at full strength, I was being overpowered.
It seemed I was still not at the level to clash head-on with demon kings.
‘And on top of that….’
The more I fight, the more my strength drains from my body.
The black currents Sloth released were not aura, but the authority of sloth itself.
Even though they didn’t touch my body directly and I blocked them with my swords, my fighting will weakened, and the thought of wanting to die and rest seeped into my mind.
Crackle, crackle!
It was the moment when the terrifying authority of the Demon King touched his skin.
That is the fearsome nature of the authority the Demon Kings wield.
Wrath furrowed his brow.
If someone with weak willpower is struck by that authority, they will fall into the rest called death on their own.
He shook his head, saying not to be exposed to sloth.
‘Even though the authority of sloth is inside my soul?’
That bastard is the master of all that sloth.
Wrath tilted his chin, saying that since it was Sloth’s own power, its effect on Raon would be even greater.
‘It’s certainly dangerous, but it doesn’t matter.’
Raon smiled and tightened his grip on his swords.
‘Because I have the Ring of Fire that defeated the Monarch of Wrath.’
As he resonated with the Ring of Fire, the sloth pressing down on his soul thinned like fog under sunlight.
Ghhk!
Wrath gaped at Raon.
That cheating martial art! No, at this point he doesn’t even know if that can be called martial art anymore!
The more he looked, the more he gnashed his teeth, calling it an absurd power.
‘Now I can fight properly.’
Raon stepped back once, then used the rebound of his retreat to charge in faster.
Whooosh!
Sloth, as though he meant not to put Raon back to sleep but to erase him entirely, shot forth colossal authority of sloth like lightning.
Kuwaaaaaa!
Raon channeled the Flame Dragon Art through his divine sword. From the mouth of the descending fire dragon burst flames that could incinerate even the fires of hell.
Thuuuud!
But even the flames of Flame Dragon Art could not erase Sloth’s sloth. Instead, it pressed forward with even greater power.
Crackle, crackle!
From the clash of such overwhelming powers, dark red sparks burst in every direction.
“Then take this too….”
Raon twisted his lips slightly and angled the demonic sword diagonally upward.
“Take it.”
From the demonic sword burning in silver, a massive sphere rose. Heavenly Heavy Cannon. In power, it was a sword technique equal to Flame Dragon Art, a technique belonging only to Raon Zieghart.
Woooong!
The Heavenly Heavy Cannon drew in the authority of sloth with a mighty pull, then exploded in an instant, freezing everything around it.
Stallin Mountain, said to have not melted for ten thousand years, froze over even whiter.
“Give me… back… my sleep….”
Sloth instantly shattered the frost that had frozen his forearm and shoulder, then scattered the even more densely condensed authority of sloth.
Uuuuuuuung!
Raon raised two pairs of Firewalls to block the fiercely flying authority of sloth, but he couldn’t withstand it and was driven back.
Thud!
Raon was finally pushed out of the lake where Sloth had dwelled and his back slammed against a wall of rock.
Whooosh!
Sloth stretched out a black arm as if he would never let Raon escape. His hand was so long and immense it seemed it could reach him even from the end of the world.
‘If that hand grabs me, it’s dangerous.’
He felt a foreboding that even while using the Ring of Fire, he would not be able to escape sloth if he were caught in that grip.
‘I’ll cut it down.’
Raon bit down firmly on his molars and straightened his knees. The divine sword pointed toward the sky and the demonic sword sank toward the ground. The two blades curved in opposite directions, unleashing a majestic wave of energy.
Heavenly Lightning of the Azure Sky. Glenn’s sword technique that harmonized the forms of the Azure Sky Sword and Heavenly Lightning Cultivation summoned a crimson sky and blue lightning through Raon’s sword field.
Kuwaaaaaaa!
Lightning of tyranny fell as if god himself were enraged, striking down upon the back of Sloth’s hand.
“You are strong…. Wrath’s vessel….”
Even though Sloth had taken a direct hit from the Heavenly Lightning of the Azure Sky and suffered a great shock, he unleashed the authority of sloth even more powerfully, trying to engulf Raon.
‘Damn it.’
Raon furrowed his brow as he saw Sloth’s authority crashing in at that fleeting instant.
‘I can’t block this.’
Since it was right after using the Heavenly Lightning of the Azure Sky, my aura flow wasn’t smooth. For now, evading was the answer.
Fwoooosh!
Raon used a vast amount of the divine sword’s flame and the demonic sword’s frost, distancing himself as far as possible from Sloth.
Woooong!
But the energy of sloth that Sloth released, as if swallowing up the flames and frost still wasn’t enough, pursued Raon like lightning.
‘It’s exactly the kind of power that suits him.’
Seeing how the body stayed still while only the hand and the authority of sloth moved, Raon thought it was an ability perfectly suited for Sloth.
Give it up now.
Wrath shook his head as if telling him to stop.
With your current strength, it’s impossible to face that sleepyhead head-on.
He furrowed his brow, as if saying to stop clashing head-on.
‘I know it well. That my strength is lacking.’
If you’ve realized that, then just give up and….
‘If my strength now is lacking….’
Raon stepped with Supreme Harmony Steps and charged straight toward Sloth. Baring his white teeth, he simultaneously unleashed the will he had newly built up and the authorities of the Demon Kings.
‘…then I just have to use greater strength!’
Th-this lunatic, seriously!
‘I haven’t gone all out yet.’
I hadn’t used everything I had learned from Glenn and Darkan. I could still become stronger than this.
“O Demon King of Sloth.”
Raon lifted the corner of his mouth as he faced the ever-intensifying sloth.
“Test the true me.”
