The Reincarnated Assassin is a Genius Swordsman 1015

 Chapter 1015

“Huh-uhk!”

Only then did Mustan finally notice House Robert symbol and widened his eyes.

“Th-this, don’t tell me it’s Derus Robert?”

He swallowed dryly, as if he couldn’t believe it.

“It must be.”

Rector clicked his tongue briefly and untied the letter tied to the leg of the white hawk.

“Th-that makes no sense! Among outsiders, the only ones who know about this place are Sir Raon and his acquaintances!”

Mustan’s pupils trembled as he muttered that he couldn’t understand how anyone could have found this place.

“Derus Robert has archangels and high-ranking necromancers by his side. He can use all kinds of means, so if anything, we should consider ourselves lucky it took him this long to find us.”

Rector didn’t look flustered, as if he had already expected the location of the new Holy Sword Alliance to be exposed eventually.

“Well, that does make sense.”

Mustern scratched his forehead, agreeing that an archangel would certainly be capable of tracking down people in hiding.

“But why is Derus Robert still using House Robert’s emblem?”

He tilted his head as he looked at House  Robert symbol engraved at the end of the letter.

“Derus is a traitor who abandoned the Five Kings and House Robert to join the Four Demons.”

“The reason is simple.”

Rector flicked the letter with his fingertip and sneered.

“It means that he alone is House Robert.”

“He alone is House Robert?”

Mustan blinked, not quite following.

“Even if the buildings collapse, the territory burns, and his blood relatives die, if he alone remains alive, then Robert still exists.”

He clicked his tongue, saying the letter reeked of Derus’ arrogance.

“What a filthy bastard…”

Mustan ground his teeth in disgust.

“Yeah. He’s arrogant and repulsive, but… he does have the qualifications to make such a claim.”

Rector furrowed his brow as he tightly rolled up the letter.

“Derus displayed overwhelming power that even surpassed Lecross, the King of Owen and bearer of the nickname Silent Sword Sovereign.”

Lecross’ strength could never be considered below his own. To overpower such a high-level Transcender so completely, it made sense for Derus to exude this kind of confidence.

“Except for the hidden Transcenders in seclusion, the only ones on the continent who could surely defeat him now are Glenn Zieghart, the Heavenly Demon, and the previous master of the Holy Sword Alliance.”

Rector said there were barely any who could stop Derus Robert, and he unfolded the letter that now felt even heavier.

“Wh-what does it say?”

Mustan rolled his eyes rapidly, curious about the letter’s contents.

“The Black Tower has fallen, and the Fallen is dead. He’s calling to convene the Four Demons’ meeting. Face-to-face.”

Rector nodded calmly, as if he had already anticipated the contents of the letter.

“I-if we pretend we didn’t get the message and don’t go, like last time….”

“That won’t work.”

Rector lowered his brows as he looked at the white hawk, now dead with its neck snapped.

“This is a warning.”

“A-a warning?”

Mustan’s jaw trembled.

"Yeah. He probably already knows this letter has ended up in my hands. Even though there are other ways to make contact from outside, the fact that he sent a hawk that pierced through this place’s barrier is proof of that.”

Rector let out a faint laugh as he crumpled the letter.

“If we don’t attend this meeting, he’ll come here himself.”

He furrowed his brow, saying that if that happened, there would be no resolving things through words.

“B-but wouldn’t attacking us in this situation be suicidal?”

Mustan let out a breath, clearly confused.

“From what I’ve seen and felt, Derus Robert is more than capable of doing that. He’s no longer human, he’s like a demon. He would never leave behind any potential threats.”

Rector nodded firmly, as if certain.

“Even if that’s not the case, it’s better to go. We need to find out what Derus Robert is planning—if only for that child’s sake.”

He let out a deep breath, saying he would attend the Four Demons’ meeting for Raon’s sake.

“T-then let’s at least inform Sir Raon!”

Mustan raised his hand, saying they should let Raon know what was happening.

“Telling him will only make him worry. Nothing has happened yet, so don’t worry.”

Rector patted Mustan on the shoulder and returned to the mansion.

“Somehow….”

Mustan’s fingertips trembled as he watched the gradually darkening sky and Rector walking beneath it.

“I feel uneasy.”

After telling his family he had received a new mission, Raon began to prepare to leave for the Five Divine Orders.

“The Five Divine Orders? There are only two left now. Shouldn’t you call them the Two Divine Orders instead?”

Evelyn quietly opened the door and came in.

“Knock before coming in.”

Raon shook his head as he packed clothes and necessities into his subspace pocket.

“What’s the point of knocking between us?”

Evelyn waved her snow-white hand, saying such signals were unnecessary.

“This mission to the Five Divine Orders…”

She approached and bumped his shoulder lightly.

“Should I go with you?”

“You want to come with me?”

Raon widened his eyes at Evelyn.

“Why?”

“If the Five Divine Orders say they won’t side with the Five Kings, you’re planning to kill the Thespian Emperor and the Queen of Swords, right?”

Evelyn shrugged, saying she might be needed in that fight.

“Huh…”

Raon swallowed dryly, locking eyes with Evelyn’s purple gaze.

“How did you know that?”

He had only said he was going to meet the heads of the Five Divine Orders, he couldn’t understand how she’d guessed the killing part.

Hiiiieeek!

Wrath shrieked and hid behind Raon’s back.

It seems that madwoman can now read your thoughts!

He trembled, saying she must have created a new kind of magic.

“How did I know? I can see everything!”

Evelyn smiled softly at the corners of her lips.

“We spent the night together, didn’t we? I can at least read your eyes!”

“That’s not what that means!”

Raon shook his head vigorously.

“Don’t say stuff like that! People are going to get the wrong idea!”

He grabbed Evelyn’s shoulder, begging her to stop.

“I like this too.”

Evelyn blushed, looking pleased just from being touched.

“Ugh…”

Raon realized there was no getting through to her and slapped his forehead with his palm.

“Well, anyway, I want to go too. I know I’ll be of help.”

Evelyn clasped her hands earnestly, showing she was serious.

“Of course you would be. But…”

Raon shook his head as he looked into her sparkling eyes.

“You haven’t fully recovered from your injuries yet.”

Unlike Raon, who was fully healed both physically and mentally, Evelyn’s mind had yet to fully recover.

Since mental strength was the most important factor for a mage, now was the time for her to focus on recovery.

“You knew?”

Evelyn blinked, looking surprised.

“I can see everything.”

Raon returned Evelyn’s words to her with a faint smile.

“Ugh, if I’ve been found out, it can’t be helped then.”

Evelyn smacked her lips briefly.

“Then take this with you in my place.”

She took out a small squirrel doll from the pocket of her maid uniform. Though it looked cute, the ribbon on its ear and its clothes were poorly made.

“This is…”

“It’s a charm for you. I made it together with the young lady.”

Evelyn said she made the squirrel doll herself, and the ribbon and clothes were made by Sia, as she smiled.

“Thank you.”

Raon received the squirrel doll with both hands. If she had made it alone, he would’ve felt burdened and likely refused, but since Sia had helped make it too, he had no choice but to accept it.

“Come to think of it, you’ve been spending a lot of time with my sister lately. Did you get close?”

“I get along well with the young lady.”

Evelyn smiled brightly, saying they had good conversations.

“R-really?”

Raon shifted his gaze toward the wall.

‘Is it because they have the same mental age?’

Since Evelyn had lived solely for revenge since childhood and didn’t have much experience outside of magic, it seemed she got along well with Sia, whose mental age was still young.

“Then, have a safe trip!”

Evelyn said she’d be waiting at the annex building and left the room.

You might want to throw that thing away.

Wrath frowned as he looked at the cutely decorated squirrel doll.

‘Why? Are you sensing something?’

The King of Essence doesn’t feel anything, but it must surely be cursed! Every single one of your movements will be watched!

He shook his head wildly, insisting Raon get rid of it immediately.

‘I can’t. She said she made it with my sister.’

If Sia found out he’d thrown it away, she’d sulk for a long time, so there was no way he could toss it.

‘I’ll pack the rest tomorrow. For today, I should do some mental training.’

Just as he was about to close his eyes, imagining a battle with the Thespian Emperor, he heard footsteps approaching the annex building.

‘It’s not grandfather.’

He initially thought it might be Glenn, but the sound of the footsteps was different. Still, he was sure it was someone he knew.

Knock knock.

When he opened his eyes and looked out the window, Martha was tapping on it with the back of her hand.

“What are you doing here?”

Raon opened the window, looking at Martha, who for once had her brows lowered gently.

“I have a favor to ask.”

Martha slightly bowed her head, asking him to come out for a bit.

“I’ll be waiting by the lake.”

Raon closed the window again and stepped outside, approaching Martha, who was standing in front of the lake.

“What brings you all the way here?”

He slowly rolled his shoulders, telling her to go ahead and say it.

“The aura training we did before…”

Martha bit her lip as she brought up the aura training they had been doing over the past week.

“Can you keep doing it for me?”

She bent her waist slightly, saying she wanted to continue the training right now.

“You want to do that training again?”

He was so caught off guard that his mouth fell open.

“Yeah. Not just today, I want to keep doing it even when we head to the Five Divine Orders.”

Martha clenched her fist, saying she wanted to get stronger, even just a little bit, as fast as possible.

“Why are you trying to go that far?”

Raon let out a faint breath.

“To be honest, it’s painful to the point it’s hard to endure.”

The aura strengthening training he created was essentially a torture method turned into training, so even if one’s aura got stronger, the pain from cold and heat wouldn’t go away.

Most of the other swordsmen welcomed the upcoming mission just to get away from that pain, he hadn’t imagined she’d come to ask for it voluntarily.

“I can endure this level of pain as much as it takes.”

Martha bit her lip deeply.

“Compared to mental pain, it’s nothing.”

She let out a murky breath, saying that no matter how much she wanted to endure mental pain, it was impossible.

“…I see.”

Raon closed his eyes and opened them again, realizing why Martha wanted to continue the aura training.

“With the Black Tower’s master and the Fallen dead, there’s not much time left before we face the White Blood Religion’s leader.”

Martha raised her trembling hand and placed it on her sword.

“I want to become even a little bit stronger before then. Even if I die, I want to at least land one stab on that bitch!”

She clenched her fist so tightly that blood began to drip from her palm, saying she didn’t want to leave behind a single regret.

“Haa…”

Raon let out a deep sigh.

‘This can’t be helped.’

If it had been any other matter, he would’ve told her to rest. But with her mother involved, he couldn’t just turn her away.

“Sit here.”

Raon pointed to the grassy area spread out beside the lake.

“Thanks!”

Martha bowed her head in gratitude and sat in the spot he indicated.

“I’m starting. It’ll be stronger than usual.”

Raon concentrated the energy of Glacier and Ten Thousand Flames Cultivation at his fingertips and pushed it into Martha’s mana circuit.

“……”

Even though she must have been feeling excruciating pain, Martha didn’t let out a single groan and began her aura cultivation.

Despite the sweat streaming down her forehead, she didn’t make a sound, her silence spoke volumes about her resolve.

‘The White Blood Religion’s leader…’

Raon bit his lip as he looked up at the darkening night sky.

‘That monster is different from the Fallen or the Black Tower’s master.’

The White Blood Religion’s leader also used powerful sorcery, but at her core, she was a warrior.

Unlike the Fallen or the Black Tower’s master, facing her would not be easy at all.

‘And…’

As he watched Martha endure the pain and train her aura, he clicked his tongue inwardly.

‘If I want to save this girl’s mother, I can’t kill her recklessly.’

Since they had to extract the soul after subduing the White Blood Religion’s leader, the difficulty of the fight was bound to be beyond imagination.

That vampire wench, as you saw yourself, grows stronger by absorbing blood.

Wrath wrinkled his brow in disgust.

She’s surely gotten even stronger by now.

‘There’s nothing easy about any of this. In the end…’

Raon clenched his jaw as he grasped the wrist where six bracelets shimmered.

‘I have no choice but to become stronger.’

*   *   *

Two days later, at dawn.

Raon stood atop the platform of the fifth training ground, overlooking the swordsmen of the Light Wind Palace.

Whooooosh!

Unlike during training, the swordsmen of the Light Wind Palace had shed all emotion, their eyes sharp with cold determination. They had reached a level where they could control their emotions and pressure according to the situation.

“As I said, this mission could lead to an all-out war with the Five Divine Orders. Stay prepared to fight even if you're woken from sleep.”

Raon stated the necessary mindset for the mission and came down from the platform.

“We move out.”

Brushing the fluttering hem of his black dragon coat with his fingertips, he walked through the Light Wind swordsmen.

Rumble!

The swordsmen followed behind like knights guarding their king, their presence forming an impenetrable wall.

As always, the Light Wind didn’t head for Zieghart’s main gate, but instead moved toward Zieghart’s magic tower.

“Preparations to teleport to Barene are complete.”

Verbin, the vice tower master of the magic tower, bowed his head, saying that the preparations to move to Barene, the city of the Five Divine Orders, were finished.

“Thank you for helping us.”

Raon gave a polite nod, remembering the Verbin who used to chat and laugh with Rimmer.

“It wasn’t difficult. They provided us the coordinates for the dimensional gate from Barene directly and even cleared the path.”

Verbin waved his hand, saying it had been a simple matter.

“If a problem arises there, please contact us. We will come running immediately.”

He clasped his hands as if he were casting magic, looking sincere.

“Your words alone are more than enough. Thank you.”

Raon responded with a gentle smile and nodded.

“Then we’ll begin right away.”

When Verbin raised his hand, the mages standing behind him cast a ritual imbued with deep magical power.

Wooooong—

From within the previously empty circular platform, a blue light surged up, and a massive gate cutting through dimensions opened. On the rippling blue veil, the scene of Barene faintly appeared.

“You may enter now.”

Verbin nodded, saying they would arrive in Barene as soon as they stepped through the blue gate.

“Thank you.”

Raon bowed to Verbin and the mages, then stepped into the blue dimension.

Whoooooom!

As he felt warm particles of light wrapping around his body, he closed his eyes, and when he opened them again, he was inside a grand building with a luxurious carpet spread beneath his feet.

“Greetings to the Light Wind Palace master.”

Before Raon could move his gaze, a voice came from his left.

Turning his eyes, he saw a middle-aged man in white clothes  bowing his head toward him.

“I am McCaine, who serves the Thespian Emperor.”

“It’s been a while.”

Raon gave a polite nod to the man who introduced himself as McCaine.

“Hmm? You remember me?”

McCaine opened his eyes wide in surprise.

“You left an impression.”

Back when they had met, McCaine had acted as the Thespian Emperor’s secretary, he had been calm and composed, and that had left an impression on Raon.

“Ah…”

McCaine looked slightly flustered for a moment, but then quickly composed himself and raised his head.

“This is the magic tower of Barene. Since it’s been a while since you’ve visited, how about a bit of sightseeing before the meeting…”

He raised his hand, offering to show Raon around Barene.

“No.”

Raon shook his head as he caught sight of the Light Wind swordsmen emerging from the dimensional gate, their eyes sharp and cold.

“I want to see the Thespian Emperor and the Queen of Swords first.”

Gripping the faintly trembling Heavenly Drive, Raon parted his lips.

“There are quite a few things I need to say to them.”

  1. I'm sorry but If Rector does really go to the meeting without telling anyone, it will probably be the most stupid decision in the series (and a well deserved death if you ask me). I mean, he is like "Derus knows I'm his nemesis grandfather, he is overwhelmingly powerful and has the backup of archangels as well as the (now 3) demons.... Oh well, let's go meet him face to face, what could possibly go wrong?"

    1. I dont think rector believe robert knows about their betrayal. Thats why he doesnt want to risk exposing himself. With the diciple knowing i believe that is enough. I was half expecting that the deciple would stay behind in case the swordmaster dies.
