The Reincarnated Assassin is a Genius Swordsman 1021
Chapter 1021
Isn’t this all rigged? How is this happening!
Wrath shouted furiously, asking why the reward message popped up every time he spoke.
This damned system is clearly watching the King of Essence's every single move!
He jabbed his finger into the air, shouting for it to come out immediately.
‘Let’s check it out.’
Leaving Wrath to his tantrum, Raon checked the message that had appeared before his eyes.
[You have shown the Martial God’s mercy to those walking the same path.]
[Your proficiency of the versatile sword has increased.]
[All stats have increased by 30 points.]
[The rank of the trait <Evil Eye of Wrath> has increased.]
[The rank of the trait <Flying Spirit> has increased.]
[The rank of the trait <Magic Armor of the Snow Flower> has increased.]
[The rank of the trait <Heart Sword (Spirit)> has increased.]
[Your soul’s level has greatly increased.]
[A new trait <Soul Transfer Transformation> has been created.]
‘The rewards are good, but the wording is a bit embarrassing.’
Martial God’s mercy. For someone like him, who had only just reached Transcendence, it felt far too heavy of a title.
Exactly!
Wrath smacked Raon on the shoulder as if to say, “Well said.”
The system is far too fond of you! When its true master is right here!
He ground his teeth, saying the system seemed to have fallen for Raon's face and lost its mind.
He swears he'll crush its head the moment he returns to the Devildom!
'Oh, really?'
While Wrath growled like a beast, Raon continued checking the messages.
[Your proficiency of the versatile sword has increased.]
[All stats have increased by 30 points.]
‘As expected, my proficiency of the versatile sword has improved.’
Just as he had predicted when his mental world expanded, the proficiency of all the sword techniques he had learned had improved.
It was a greater gain than achieving some half-baked enlightenment, as he had even assimilated it through the duel with Briana.
‘And all stats went up by 30 points too.’
Though he had faced two Trancenders, the Thespian Emperor had only been unleashing aura and sorcery in a broken state of mind, and the duel with Briana had actually helped him in many ways, so it felt like he’d gotten the points for free.
Thirty points for doing practically nothing? That’s too much! This isn’t some street market, why is it handing out rewards like this!
Wrath yelled at the system to get a grip.
‘Next…’
As strength and vitality surged through his body, Raon looked at the next message.
‘Four traits increased too, huh.’
Perhaps because he’d focused his vision to break through Briana’s swordsmanship, <Evil Eye of Wrath> increased. And having withstood the Thespian Emperor’s aura and sorcery with his body had likely increased < Magic Armor of the Snow Flower>.
As for <Flying Spirit> and <Heart Sword (Spirit)>, which were traits of the Dancing Sword, they seemed to have increased along with the rise in versatile sword proficiency.
You’ve got to be kidding me! All you did was eat from a prepared table, and it gave you four trait rank-ups?!
Wrath trembled, his fists clenched round like buns, saying it was getting harder and harder to hold back.
'His tantrum is even worse today.'
Raon pushed away the flailing Wrath, who was thrashing about with all his might like a tadpole, and checked the last messages.
[Your soul’s level has greatly increased.]
[A new trait < Soul Transfer Transformation> has been created.]
‘Soul Transfer Transformation?’
The name alone didn’t give much of a clue, so he checked the description right away.
<Soul Transfer Transformation>
A soul that has grown so vast it surpasses the vessel of the body brings positive influence to those nearby.
‘Does that mean my soul has a good influence on others?’
After reading the description of <Soul Transfer Transformation>, it seemed to mean that a soul so immense it didn’t match his current level brought about positive effects for others.
Tsk…
Unlike when he saw other reward messages, Wrath didn’t get angry this time and only clicked his tongue.
'What's with you not getting mad?'
Raon lightly tapped Wrath’s tail and asked if he had finally matured.
Because he already knew.
Wrath smacked his lips as if he had expected Raon to gain the trait.
‘You knew?’
Yes.
He nodded calmly.
Didn't you think it was strange that both of the women you fought today entered a trance?
Wrath pointed at Briana, still lost in trance.
‘Hmm…’
Raon let out a low murmur as he looked at Briana, following Wrath’s hand.
That heaven’s flow woman had been trapped in distress for a long time, and that crazy woman’s soul is special, so yes, it makes sense they could fall into trance more easily. But even so…
His eyes narrowed.
Falling into a trance immediately after fighting you is simply impossible.
He shook his head, saying that no matter their circumstances, for both of them to enter trance just from a spar was something that went beyond standard norms.
‘Then…’
Raon swallowed dryly and looked again at the newly created trait <Soul Transfer Transformation>.
That’s right.
Wrath lowered his hand as if to confirm it.
When the heaven’s flow woman entered a trance, even he wasn’t certain. But now, he’s sure.
He tilted his chin toward Raon.
You instinctively realized how to use that immense soul of yours when you awakened the Heart Sword.
‘Using my soul…?’
Your soul is of such a high level that not only the King of Essence, but even that old man Nadine bread acknowledges it. Now, it doesn’t just affect you, it’s begun to influence others as well. That damn ring of yours probably plays a part too.
Wrath furrowed his brow, saying it had simply manifested as a trait.
‘I see.’
Raon said he understood now and looked again at the trait <Soul Transfer Transformation>.
‘This is… no, this is an enormous gain.’
To be able to help others grow by using his own soul, this ability would no doubt be a greater help to the growth of Light Wind Palace than any other trait.
‘I’m looking forward to this.’
Raon turned to look at the Light Wind swordsmen, the corners of his mouth lifting.
“Palace master!”
“Well done!”
"We believed you would win!"
The Light Wind swordsmen waved their hands and cheered at Raon’s smile.
“Hrrrk!”
Only Dorian, who could read Raon’s thoughts, clutched his mouth like he was about to vomit, his entire body trembling.
“We’re dead…”
* * *
“Haaah!”
As Raon was thinking about how to make the Light Wind swordsmen stronger, Briana, who had been in a trance, let out a deep breath and opened her eyes.
‘She woke up sooner than I thought.’
Since it wasn’t a trance she entered by her own ability, but one influenced by him, the time she spent in the mental world hadn’t been very long.
“Pa-Pavilion master!”
“Are you all right?”
The swordsmen of the Blade Martial Pavilion, who had been guarding her, rushed over.
“I’m in the best condition I’ve ever been.”
Briana said her body and mind had been completely refreshed, then waved her subordinates away and approached Raon.
“First, I should say thank you.”
She bowed deeply, saying she was grateful for the enlightenment. She didn’t seem to know about the Soul Transfer Transformation, she was just thanking him because she had entered a trance during their spar.
“It was just a coincidence.”
Raon waved his hand as he looked into Briana’s now-calm eyes.
"Why are you suddenly speaking formally?"
Briana tilted her head, finding it odd.
“Because the spar is over now.”
Raon shrugged, saying now that he had achieved what he came for, there was no need to keep up the act of being arrogant.
“I felt it from the first moment I saw you, you’re really peculiar.”
Briana gave a soft laugh as she looked at him.
“Don’t worry about how I talk. Now, please tell me, who are you?”
Raon said that now that the spar was over, she should explain everything.
“I’m the older sister of the woman you call the Queen of Swords.”
Briana pointed to her chest with her finger.
“We’re twin sisters born into one body.”
She smiled, saying that two souls had been sharing one body.
“Is it something like a split personality?”
“You could think of it that way, but it’s not quite right. Our souls are truly different.”
Briana shook her head with a laugh.
"Ah, I see."
Just as he had felt at the beginning, it wasn’t a change of personality, it was truly a change of soul.
“Brigit and I, ever since we were born, would constantly switch who was in control of the body, regardless of our will. People pointed fingers, saying we were cursed, and even our parents abandoned us.”
Briana gave a faint smile, saying that after being abandoned by their parents, she happened to meet a master and ended up in the Blade Martial Pavilion.
“What, I’m not supposed to talk about that? We made a promise, so it’s only right to say everything.”
She waved her hand, telling Brigit to stay quiet.
“What do you mean by constantly switching?”
“I mean it wasn’t like now, where we can switch at will. Back then, our souls would change places at random, at any time. The physical and mental pain was so extreme, I thought I was going to lose my mind.”
Briana let out a muddy breath, saying that when their souls were forcibly switched, the shock was so severe they could faint.
“It was our master who introduced us to Ariel. Thanks to the sorcery she cast, we’re able to live like this now.”
She swept back her messy hair and said that it was thanks to the Thespian Emperor’s sorcery that they were able to survive.
Now he understood why the Queen of Swords followed the Thespian Emperor.
"Of course, knowing Ariel at the time, she probably read the heaven’s flow and saved us because she thought we would be useful. But still, it's a fact that she helped us."
Briana gave a faint smile, as if she understood Ariel’s entire personality.
“I have one question. You’re clearly much stronger, so why was Lady Brigit the one in control of the body?”
Raon asked the question that had been on his mind, looking at Briana, who was smiling.
“I said I would go inside.”
Briana placed her hand over her chest, as if holding Brigit’s hand.
“An older sister looking after her younger sister, that’s only natural, isn’t it?”
She smiled, saying it wasn’t a particularly difficult decision.
“…I see.”
Raon let out a faint sigh as he looked at Briana, who showed no sign of regret in her choice.
‘She’s someone with a big heart.’
Since she had already tasted life in control of the body, she probably didn’t want to go back inside. But seeing her smile as she made that choice for her younger sister, without a hint of regret, Raon could feel how immense Briana’s capacity as a person was.
‘She’s going to grow even more.’
If she could break free of the limitations of Brigit’s body and aura, she would likely display martial power and growth on an entirely different level. Raon found himself looking forward to it.
“What? Even if I was born one minute earlier, I’m still the older sister! And what does it matter whether I talk inside or outside!”
Briana furrowed her brow, as if she was arguing with Brigit inside.
“Wait… could it be that Lady Brigit seemed quiet because…”
Raon narrowed his eyes as he looked at Briana.
“That’s right. She looked quiet because she was busy chatting with me inside.”
She laughed, saying Brigitte actually talks quite a lot.
“Can I ask you something too?”
Briana raised her finger.
“Go ahead.”
“You can enter the mental world by your own will, can’t you?”
She smiled faintly, as if she had sensed it.
"Not entirely as I please, but I can get the timing right to some extent."
Raon shook his head, saying that entering the mental world wasn’t particularly difficult.
“I knew it! I felt the same rhythm in you as I have in myself.”
Briana gave a soft smile, saying that as they fought, she had sensed a similar flow to her own.
“The same rhythm?”
“I can sever my connection to the body and enter the mental world. I’ve been training alone in there all this time.”
She nodded, saying she had honed her footwork and swordsmanship in that solitary space.
“…I see.”
Raon looked at her and swallowed dryly.
‘That’s why she was able to perform sword forms and footwork with such absurd perfection.’
While Brigit lived life on the outside, Briana trained in the slow-flowing time of the mental world, perfecting swordsmanship and footwork to a level so refined it had become a real threat. Now, all the questions he’d had about her were finally answered.
“Fighting you was really fun.”
Briana held out her fist, suggesting they spar again sometime.
“Anytime.”
Raon gave a faint smile and bumped fists with her.
“I wholeheartedly welcome walking the same path as Zieghart.”
With that, Briana said she supported following the Five Kings, and closed her eyes.
Fwoosh.
When she opened her eyes again, the soul of the body’s original owner, Brigit, had returned.
"Uhm..."
The Queen of Swords, Brigit, lightly bit her lip as she looked at him. She seemed embarrassed now that everything she had kept hidden had been revealed.
“First, I should say thank you. Not just Briana, but I was affected by it too.”
She nodded, implying that she had also entered a trance when Briana did.
“And…”
Brigit exhaled briefly and nodded again.
"My will is the same as my sister's."
She stretched her fist forward, saying that she too had decided to follow the Five Kings like Briana.
"I was rude in many ways today."
Raon bowed his head, apologizing for his rudeness.
“I look forward to working with you as well.”
He said he would make sure they wouldn’t regret it, and reached out his hand to meet hers, same fist, but a different soul.
Tap.
* * *
Raon returned to the Thespian Emperor’s training ground with Brigit.
“You’ve returned.”
The Thespian Emperor, now awake, placed her hand over her chest and bowed politely.
“You seem to be in a good mood.”
Raon looked into the eyes of the Thespian Emperor as she slowly raised her head, and drew a soft smile.
‘She’s back.’
A clear, intelligent light, something that hadn’t been present earlier, now shone in her eyes.
Her very presence seemed to gleam with a clearer, more refined color than when he had first met her in Zieghart.
It wasn’t just that she had broken free from her distress, her soul itself had grown significantly in level.
“After being freed from that dark, narrow room I was trapped in, of course I feel good.”
The Thespian Emperor brought her hands together before her waist, thanking him for pulling her out of that dark, narrow room.
“Brigit. It looks like something has changed in you too.”
She smiled softly as she looked at the Queen of Swords standing behind Raon.
“Yes. I owe this man a great debt. Both I and Briana.”
The Queen of Swords smacked her lips briefly, saying it was a debt not easily repaid.
“That’s why we decided to walk with the Five Kings.”
She nodded, saying the decision had already been made.
“I see. Then I suppose we should start by settling accounts.”
“Settling accounts…?”
Raon let out a quiet chuckle as he watched the Thespian Emperor walk toward him.
‘It’s fascinating how quickly she changes.’
Just moments ago, she had said she would follow the Five Kings without asking or demanding anything. And now, the moment she regained her senses, she wanted to talk terms.
Still, that made her feel even more like the Thespian Emperor. And Raon accepted it, he hadn’t expected to take in the Five Divine Orders for free anyway.
“Of course, we have no intention of using the Five Divine Orders without compensation. First—”
“That’s not what I meant.”
Just as he was about to state what he had in mind, the Thespian Emperor took another step forward.
“You brought new light to someone who was slowly being buried in the ground. So I, and the White Whale, will follow Zieghart until the war with the Four Demons is over.”
She nodded, clearly expressing her firm decision.
“What we are owed, we will receive after the war, based on merit and contribution.”
She gave a faint smile, saying that matters of money or promises regarding the agreement could wait until later.
“Are you serious?”
Raon narrowed his eyes at the Thespian Emperor’s smile.
“You do realize that after the war ends, we might just discard the Five Divine Orders, right?”
“They say the hand that gives a rose retains the scent of the rose. Maybe because I gained enlightenment thanks to you, I have come to understand a little of what kind of person you are.”
The Thespian Emperor nodded, saying she had sensed his soul when she entered the trance.
“If it’s you, I’m certain that even if I die in the war, you’ll ensure the White Whale receives a reward worthy of it. From this moment on, the Five Divine Orders will walk with Zieghart.”
As if expressing her trust, she lowered her head, not to the Five Kings, but while speaking the name of Zieghart.
“We look forward to working with you, Sword Emperor Raon Zieghart.”
