The Reincarnated Assassin is a Genius Swordsman 1010
Chapter 1010
Come out right now! Fight the King of Essence, you damned system!
Wrath threw punches at the air, picking a fight with the system.
‘Let’s see what we have here.’
Ignoring the rampaging Wrath, Raon checked the messages floating before his eyes.
[You have defeated an opponent of an extremely high level.]
[You have been recognized by <Wrath>.]
[You have witnessed a battle between absolutes.]
[You have achieved a great feat!]
Four lines had already passed, and these were just confirmation messages, not even rewards. It seemed he really had accomplished a lot this time.
‘That opponent of an extremely high level must be the Fallen.’
The Demon Slaying Spear was on a similar level as me, so the extremely high level clearly referred to the Fallen.
‘If that message appeared… does that mean the Fallen is really dead?’
The Fallen had lived for hundreds of years and possessed the ability to revive instantly upon death, so even after cutting him down with the Heart Sword, Raon couldn’t be sure.
But seeing that line appear in the message, it seemed this time he might really be dead.
‘Still, I can’t let my guard down just in case.’
Raon recalled the Fallen’s twisted smile and continued reading the message.
‘Witnessing a battle between absolutes was definitely a huge help.’
Glenn and the Heavenly Demon fought in a realm of martial arts that he couldn't reach, but thanks to the Ring of Fire, he was able to sense, even slightly, the flow of martial arts they wielded.
Glenn had tempered a Heart Sword that could cut through all things, and the Heavenly Demon had forged a fist of offense and defense as one, hammered through the soul so that it would never break.
Having seen the true wills of the two Transcenders, he was able to grasp a clue as to which path he should take.
Which path will you take?
Wrath, as if curious, stopped punching and looked down at him.
‘Before that, which path did you take?’
Raon tilted his chin toward Wrath. Since Wrath stood at the same level as Glenn and the Heavenly Demon, he was curious about the path Wrath had taken.
That’s not something you can explain with words.
Wrath, unusually calm, shook his head.
You’ll only understand if you see and feel it for yourself, like you did this time.
He snorted as if to say Raon would have to check it out later himself.
‘That’s true. Then...’
Raon gave a faint smile at the serious-looking Wrath.
‘I’ll put off deciding which path to take for a little while longer.’
Why?
Wrath frowned, puzzled.
‘Because I think you’re stronger than anyone. I want to decide what kind of sword I’ll forge after seeing your path.’
In truth, from the moment he first held a sword, he had vowed to become an unbreakable swordsman to achieve his goals.
That resolve still held firm, but after meeting many people and experiencing many events, other paths had begun to bloom alongside that unbreaking sword.
R-Really? You—you actually understand something for once!
Wrath, suddenly in a good mood, wagged his tail gleefully.
In fact, if the King of Essence puts his mind to it, he could easily crush that old man nadine bread or that lizard-helmet freak!
He giggled proudly, claiming he could beat Glenn and the Heavenly Demon without trouble.
‘Is that so.’
Raon chuckled softly as he looked at Wrath’s face, whose face had flushed with excitement. He used to at least try not to lie, but now it seemed like he just blurted out whatever came to mind.
‘Then now...’
What are you going to do?
‘I’m going to keep reading the rest of the messages.’
Just as Wrath came closer, Raon pulled up the messages below.
[All stats increase by 100 points.]
[New trait <Heart Sword (Spirit)> has been created.]
“…Huh?”
Raon’s eyes widened the moment he saw the content of the message.
“Did it say 100 points?”
He had expected a high reward, but he didn’t think he’d receive a full 100 points at once. A laugh escaped his lips without him realizing.
Again, again with 100 points?
Wrath’s lips trembled in disbelief.
Isn’t that too much? Does this even make sense?!
He gnashed his teeth, shouting that no matter how you looked at it, it was way too much.
‘I'd say I earned it.’
Why! Give me a reason!
Wrath furrowed his brow, insisting there was no reason to receive that many points.
‘Why else? You acknowledged me.’
Raon pointed to the earlier message that said <Wrath> had acknowledged him.
Guh…!
Wrath, upon seeing the message confirming that he had acknowledged Raon, couldn’t refute it and instead sucked in a sharp breath.
‘Right?’
Raon patted Wrath on the head as he trembled, and then checked the new trait.
‘Heart Sword (Spirit), huh…’
Since it was a soul-forged sword created by borrowing the power of the Blade of Requiem, it wasn’t simply a Heart Sword, but a Heart Sword (Spirit).
‘Where is the Blade of Requiem?’
Raon rose again and looked around. Fortunately, the Blade of Requiem stood beside the bed, along with Heavenly Drive and Wooden Ring Sword.
It looked like someone had retrieved them from where they’d been embedded in the ground and brought them here.
Well, at least it didn’t just hand out a cheat-level trait.
Wrath sneered as he looked at the Heart Sword (Spirit).
Well, you couldn’t give the name Heart Sword to a sword that can't even cut a single person.
‘That’s true.’
Just as Wrath said, his Heart Sword was so small and faint that it couldn’t even cut the soul of an ordinary person, so even the name Heart Sword (Spirit) felt excessive right now.
‘But still…’
The path has opened.
The most important factor when learning martial arts is whether or not one can set foot in that realm.
And he had been lucky enough to step one foot into the realm (state) of the Heart Sword. One day, he’d be able to walk that path on his own.
‘I’m looking forward to it.’
Raon smiled and pulled up the next message.
[The trait <Iron Will> has increased in rank.]
[The trait <Spiral Power> has increased in rank.]
[The trait < Magic Armor of the Snow Flower> has increased in rank.]
[The trait <Divinity Blooming from the Underworld> has increased in rank.]
[The trait <Blood Path> has increased in rank.]
[The trait <Flying Spirit> has increased in rank.]
[The trait <Divine Power Resistance> has increased in rank.]
[The trait <Light Resistance> has increased in rank.]
[The trait <Authority Amplification> has increased in rank.]
[The trait <Authority Control> has increased in rank.]
“Huh…”
Raon exhaled in disbelief as message after message of trait upgrades surged up before him.
‘That’s more than I expected.’
Ten traits had increased in rank. It had been a while since so many traits rose all at once, and it was almost overwhelming.
Haaaaa…
Wrath let out a long sigh, as if he were about to throw up.
System! Has this damn thing gone completely insane?! Why is it throwing out so much at once?!
He screamed in outrage, asking what the hell it was thinking.
Are you trying to leave nothing but bones of the King of Essence’s body?!
‘Can’t be helped. I used every single one of those traits in the last battle.’
It was true that a lot of traits had risen in rank, but if he looked closely, there were clear reasons for every one.
Even so, ten is just too many!
Wrath shook his head firmly, unwilling to accept it.
‘It’s well deserved.’
No, it’s not! How is that well deserved—uhp!
He was about to demand an explanation but suddenly clamped his mouth shut.
‘Why, you ask…’
Raon didn’t miss the moment and flashed a fresh smile.
‘Because you acknowledged me.’
Raon grinned and pointed again at the message stating that <Wrath> had acknowledged him.
Gaaaaaah!
Wrath clutched his head and screamed.
This cursed mouth is the problem! From now on, he’s never saying another word!
He pressed his lips tightly shut, declaring that he wouldn’t acknowledge anyone again.
‘That won’t be easy.’
The Wrath Raon had seen so far was, despite being a Demon King, surprisingly honest. If a similar situation happened again, he’d definitely acknowledge it just the same.
‘Now then, the last one.’
Raon checked the final message at the bottom.
[The title <One Who Changes Fate> evolves into <One Who Turns the Wheel of Fate>.]
The last message was about a title. It wasn’t a new one but an evolution of an existing title.
‘Come to think of it, that title…’
He remembered that unlike the others, it hadn’t contained any description.
‘Let’s see…’
Narrowing his eyes, Raon opened the details of the newly evolved title.
<One Who Turns the Wheel of Fate> A title bestowed upon one who, by their own will, changes the shackles of fate set by the heavens.
As he read the description of the title, his gaze sharpened.
‘The Heavenly Demon said something similar.’
The Heavenly Demon mocked the Fallen while holding his mask fragment, saying that even though he had come after reading the heaven’s flow, he still lost to him.
‘Then… does that mean I can determine my own fate?’
The heaven’s flow was fate already set by the heavens.
It was said that no one could change it, yet it seemed that such transcendental power didn’t apply to him.
Though whether that was because of the Ring of Fire, or this cotton-candy-like thing next to him, he wasn’t sure.
“Hm…”
Raon glanced at Wrath and smacked his lips lightly.
‘I want to ask you something…’
Just as he was about to question Wrath, the door suddenly burst open, as if it were about to be torn off its hinges.
“Huh? Raon!”
It was Evelyn. Wearing the maid uniform of the annex building, she ran toward him.
“When did you wake up? Are you alright?”
Evelyn’s purple eyes darted around as she checked his wounds.
“I’m fine. But… why are you wearing that outfit again…”
Just as he was about to ask why she was wearing a maid uniform, Sylvia and Sia burst in through the open door.
“Raon!”
“You’re awake!”
As soon as the two saw that he was conscious, they dashed toward him so fast it was as if they would break the floor.
“You finally woke up. Even after all the treatment, you weren’t waking up, so everyone was worried.”
Sylvia sighed in relief, glad he was okay.
“You slept too long!”
Sia pouted, clearly having been worried too.
“Sorry. The injuries were one thing, but I think I was also mentally exhausted.”
Raon smiled and held Sylvia and Sia’s hands.
“So, how does your body feel?”
Evelyn sat lightly at the edge of the bed, a gentle smile on her lips. Her true face, now fully visible, radiated beauty more dazzling than the sunlight streaming through the window. Even in her maid uniform, she looked noble enough to be royalty.
“There’s still a bit of pain left, but it’s bearable.”
Raon slowly rolled his shoulders and nodded.
“Honestly, for what I went through, I got off cheap.”
To have taken down the Fallen and the Demon Slaying Spear, and even survived an encounter with the Heavenly Demon, these injuries weren’t just cheap, they were practically free.
“Haah…”
Sylvia, still holding his hand tightly, let out a heavy breath.
“I don’t know why such dangerous things keep happening to you.”
She bit her lip, overcome with worry.
“Looks like you’ve heard everything.”
Raon gently wrapped his hand around Sylvia’s trembling one and lowered his gaze.
“I told her.”
Evelyn gave a heavy nod, as if to say she had explained the whole situation.
“If a swordsman takes up his sword and goes to the battlefield, danger is to be expected. Still, you don’t need to worry too much. I have good comrades by my side.”
Raon smiled as he met Evelyn’s eyes.
“I’m sure you’ve already heard, but it was thanks to Evelyn that the Fallen was brought down. All I did was swing my sword at the very end.”
He waved his hand, saying he wasn’t alone, and others had fought with him too, so there was no need to worry.
“What? Is that true?”
Sylvia’s eyes widened in surprise, as if she had no idea.
“Huh? She didn’t tell you?”
Raon let out a short breath as he looked between Sylvia and Evelyn.
"She told me you defeated the Fallen, but I've never heard that you fought together."
Sylvia blinked blankly, mouth slightly open, as if she really didn’t know.
“Then… what exactly did you say?”
Raon blinked as he turned to Evelyn.
“Well… it’s a little embarrassing…”
Evelyn, as if flustered, raised a hand and touched her reddened cheek.
“Huh…?”
Raon sensed something was wrong and swallowed dryly.
“I told her we called each other’s names and spent the night together. Oh, and that we saw my mom too.”
Evelyn quietly turned her gaze, saying she had only told the truth.
“Wh-what…”
Raon was so flustered that his jaw trembled, at a complete loss for words.
“D-Did that really happen? I just can’t believe it…”
Sylvia breathed heavily, as if she couldn’t understand how something like that could’ve happened during a brutal battle.
“Of course not! Obviously not!”
Raon shook his head so fiercely it was like flames were rising around him.
“That’s all a lie—”
“A lie? It’s all true, though.”
Evelyn nudged him with her shoulder, as if telling him to admit it.
"It's, it's true, but that's not it! The meaning is completely different!"
They had called each other’s names and spent the night together, yes, but all of that happened in the mental world.
She had deliberately chosen words that would cause a misunderstanding.
“Raon.”
From the doorway, Edgar, who had been watching, furrowed his brows deeply.
"A man admits what he needs to admit."
He shook his head like Raon shouldn’t act like he didn’t know.
“I’m telling you, it’s not like that!”
Raon shot up, yelling. He was so flustered he forgot all about the pain in his body.
‘I’m tired. Suddenly so tired.’
A wave of fatigue washed over him, making him want to sleep again because of Evelyn's assertiveness and initiative. He just wanted to rest and forget everything.
‘Still…’
Raon let out a faint smile as he watched Evelyn, who smiled like a child reunited with her parents, standing between Sylvia and Edgar.
‘It’s a nice sight.’
Seeing a child who had longed for a mother’s embrace finally find happiness and peace made him feel a bit relieved.
Just as Raon was watching Evelyn rushing toward him while Sylvia backed away, the annex—no, the entire Zieghart estate—shook violently.
“W-What was that…?”
Raon frowned as dust fell from the ceiling.
"No way, an enemy attack?"
“No.”
He reached for the sword leaning by the bed, but Edgar shook his head.
“Since you collapsed, this kind of tremor has been happening three times a day.”
Sylvia let out a sigh of disbelief and turned her gaze toward the main building.
“I’m sure it’ll keep happening until you show your face.”
She nodded, as if telling him to go see Glenn now that he was awake.
“Ah…”
Raon exhaled as he looked toward the garden, which was shaking even more violently than the annex building.
“T-Then could you let him know I’ll go greet him this afternoon? I’m not in any shape to go right now.”
Raon stood up, saying he would go to Glenn after washing up.
“Good thinking! Father will be happy to see you!”
Sylvia nodded, as if to say, ‘Just go and let him know you're safe,’ and sent a maid to the main building.
‘Guess I should get ready.’
His body still hurt, that was true, but staying still wouldn’t make him recover any faster. It would be good to greet Glenn and talk about what had happened so far.
“I’ll go take a shower.”
As Raon grabbed a towel and headed toward the bathroom, Evelyn came clinging to his side.
“Want me to wash you? I mean, after spending the night together, this much should be fine, right?”
She smiled softly, offering to help wash him herself.
"Don't you dare come near me."
Raon shook his head and quickly backed away from Evelyn.
“How cute.”
Evelyn licked her lips as she watched Raon flee in a hurry.
“……”
Sylvia and Edgar trembled slightly, as if frightened by Evelyn.
“Mom.”
Sia, with a finger in her mouth, pointed at Evelyn.
“Is that what a pervert is?”
“Shh.”
“Don’t say things like that out loud!”
* * *
“……”
Raon glanced slightly to his right.
Goooooooh—
In front of the pillar on the right side of the audience chamber, Aris, Karoon, Denier, Balder, and other direct lineage members stood in straight postures, watching him.
“Hm…”
He let out a short groan and looked to the left.
High-ranking executives like Sheryl the Heavenly Blade Division leader, Chad the Shadow Agents master, Serena the Void Sword Division leader, and Lattein the Warring Sword Division leader, were sparkling their eyes and smiling.
And behind them, the vice leaders of the armed organizations, including the Light Wind Palace, stood like spectators, quietly gazing at his back.
“Haa…”
Raon looked down at the floor and let out a long sigh.
‘Why?’
Why did it turn out like this?
He had only come to give a simple greeting that he was okay, yet when he arrived at the audience chamber, all the executives of Zieghart were gathered, waiting for him. It was so absurd that cold sweat trickled down his back.
“Urgh…”
Raon pressed his lips tightly together, then slowly lifted his head.
Glenn was standing on a raised platform with a deep groove in the floor beneath, wearing a cheerful smile.
“Yes. Now tell us with your own mouth what happened there.”
Glenn nodded broadly, like someone who had waited his whole life for this moment.
That damned old man nadine bread.
Wrath shook his head, as if he knew this would happen.
Here we go again… doting grandpa mode activated!
