The Reincarnated Assassin is a Genius Swordsman 994
Chapter 994
“It’s been a while.”
The Fallen nodded calmly, as if he had known Larian would appear here.
“Larian, master of the Magic Tower.”
He bent his waist, curling the corners of his mask like human skin.
“So, you knew I was coming because of that heaven’s flow or whatever?”
Larian gave a twisted smile as she saw the Fallen’s composed reaction. Her voice sank coldly, like frost lingering on her lips.
“Then I assume you’ve properly prepared for a fight?”
As if ready to start at any moment, Larian floated the blue-glowing dagger in her hand into the air.
Though its flow was different from the Dancing Sword, her dagger danced with graceful motions, as if alive, scattering shards of blue frost.
“I haven’t, actually.”
The Fallen shook his head and moved his fingertip. The bell that Raon had dropped when collapsing floated up on its own.
“I had no intention of fighting…”
Just as he quietly stated his intent to withdraw and reached for the bell—
Fwaaaaaaah!
Larian’s floating dagger pierced through space and landed beside the bell.
The blue light that rose from the dagger’s blade spread grandly, freezing the very space where the bell floated.
“What an amusing little toy you’ve brought.”
The Fallen smiled faintly and flicked his finger, shattering the ice that had encased the bell like a protective shell into thousands of pieces.
“Is it really just a toy, though?”
With a scoffing tilt of her chin, Larian’s blue dagger once again released cold energy, freezing the bell and the surrounding space.
“To try and grab that bell first, right in front of me…”
She narrowed her eyes as she looked at the crimson bell.
“It must be something quite important, huh?”
Licking her red lips, she seemed to grow interested in the bell.
“Haa…”
The Fallen placed a hand on his forehead and let out a murky sigh.
“I just wanted to quietly return, but you’re forcing me.”
A gray murderous intent rose over his serene eyes.
“Your fate may change today.”
Clicking his tongue briefly as if regretful, the Fallen spoke again.
“Fate is meant to change again and again. I don’t believe in that heaven’s flow nonsense you people spout.”
Larian snorted through her nose, saying there was no need to pay attention to that so-called heaven’s flow.
“A mage believes only in their own mind and heart.”
“You’ll regret this.”
The Fallen gave a slight tilt of the chin, as if offering a final warning. But unlike his words of wanting to leave, white and black light infused with killing intent surged above his hand.
“I’d like to let you go too, but…”
Larian slightly furrowed her brows.
“I’ve been asked to capture you.”
Behind her, daggers identical to the blue one that froze the bell rose like the ribs of a fan. Strangely, each blade had a different color.
“How unfortunate.”
With a soft smile, the Fallen’s radiant white and black light before him flared even more brilliantly.
“That the master of the Magic Tower will vanish here.”
He nodded calmly, as if the outcome had already been decided.
“No. It’s one of Eden’s heads that’ll disappear.”
Larian, not backing down, lifted her chin.
Goooooooooh!
The moment the eyes of the two Transcenders met beneath the blue moon, black light and a dagger shot forth as if transcending space.
Jjeoooeeeeong!
A black flash and a bright yellow dagger collided, splitting the dark clouds that had covered the sky, while yellow sparks scattered in every direction across sky and earth.
Kuwaaaaaang!
As the Fallen was staring at Larian’s yellow dagger clashing with his black light, a red dagger burst through the sparks from the right.
Puuuuck!
The red dagger flew in with fierce speed, as if to shatter the Fallen’s heart.
“Are you trying to become a warrior now?”
The Fallen gave a faint chuckle as he looked at the red dagger flying in like the Dancing Sword.
“Clumsy learning only ruins what you already have.”
He raised his hand and formed a wall of white light to block the dagger’s blade.
“That may be true for you…”
Larian lowered her brows as she looked at the red dagger blocked by the Fallen’s light.
“But not for me.”
When she snapped her fingers, a massive stream of flame burst from the tip of the dagger caught in the Fallen’s light.
Kuwaaaaaaaaang!
Each stream of flame contained Transcendence magic, triggering a massive chain explosion in midair.
Puhbuhbuhbuhbuhng!
The night sky flickered entirely red, like a fireworks display worth thousands of gold. It looked like a beautiful inferno had unfolded.
Chiiiiiiiiik!
The Fallen separated his body like a reflection on glass to escape the inferno. He glanced down at the black burn mark on the back of his hand and gave a slight nod.
“It’s certainly not a toy to be taken lightly.”
As he nodded in acknowledgment, brilliant light spread out, and the flames that had filled the sky vanished. The burn on the back of his hand healed completely.
“Don’t tell me you’re already exhausted?”
Larian shrugged as she caught the returning red dagger by its tip.
“Of course not…”
The Fallen spread his palm, drawing up immense light and darkness. He molded the two energies, so fundamentally different in nature, into a sphere shaped like a sun, the corners of his lips curling slightly.
“Now it truly begins.”
The Fallen and Larian wore similar smiles as they unleashed green daggers and black darkness toward each other’s hearts.
Kuwaaaaaaaaang!
* * *
“That’s the Magic Tower’s Larian?”
Raon let out a shallow breath as he watched Larian pressing the Fallen back using magic-infused daggers.
‘She’s a completely different person from how she was in the conference hall!’
Larian had always just seemed lazy and unmotivated whenever she participated in the conference.
He had assumed it was because she was a researcher, but seeing her on the battlefield now, she felt like a completely different person.
‘I was worried she’d be passive, but she’s way too aggressive.’
Larian wasn’t just defending against the Fallen’s attacks, she was launching first, drawing out her real power.
Of all the heads of the Five Kings he had seen so far, hers was the most aggressive combat style.
‘And she’s quick to read situations.’
He had dropped the crimson bell while defending against the Fallen’s magic.
Just when the bell was about to fall into the Fallen’s hands without any resistance, Larian swiftly assessed the situation and froze the entire space.
The more he watched, the harder it was to believe she was the same timid person from the conference hall.
‘And I had no idea she used daggers.’
Larian was storing magic in ten daggers of different colors and using them to press the Fallen back. It seemed like she was enhancing the spells using the daggers’ techniques, then triggering them all at once.
‘At this rate, she should be able to hold off the Fallen just fine.’
The Fallen was so occupied with Larian that he wasn’t paying attention to Raon at all. Now was the time to move and save the others.
‘Quickly…’
Raon stood up without even stopping the bleeding from the wound in his chest.
“Khugh…”
Mark Goetten clutched his chest as if he could barely endure it, his whole body trembling violently, and Blood Horn too was too badly injured to move, it just lay there, panting in place.
Hrrrgh…
Among them, Merlin was in the worst condition. She was vomiting black blood and her vitality from both her mouth and chest.
“Merlin!”
Raon ran to Merlin first and placed his hand on her chest.
‘Damn it…’
Not a single speck of divinity remains.
It hadn’t been long since he healed Merlin, so the Divinity Blooming from the Underworld he had used on her was still depleted.
Using another Demon King's authority without the Divinity Blooming from the Underworld would only be poison that would kill Merlin faster.
“Damn it!”
Raon sprinkled holy water on Merlin’s chest and tried to stop the flowing blood by channeling his aura, but it was a wound that had opened twice, he couldn’t stop it anymore.
‘Her vitality is rapidly decreasing.’
As the bleeding continued, Merlin’s complexion turned beyond pale, yellowish, and her breathing came in broken intervals. The shadow of death was drawing near.
‘What should I do…’
Raon bit his lip as he looked at Merlin’s blood running down his fingers.
Hmm…
Wrath trembled at the lips.
It’s uncertain, but there is one way.
He said it was the only method, and looked at Merlin.
‘What is it! Tell me, quick!’
Raon looked at Wrath with desperate eyes.
It is to freeze this madwoman with the King of Essence’s cold energy. However, it was never meant for healing, so there may be aftereffects… or she may never wake up again.
Wrath shook his head, saying it wasn’t a perfect method.
Even if the King of Essence does it, there’s a chance of failure. If you do it, it’ll be a fifty-fifty chance.
He lowered his eyebrows, saying she could very well die.
‘There's no other choice. If I leave her like this, she’ll definitely die…’
Just as Raon was looking at Wrath to ask how to do it—
Puuuuuck!
Just as Raon was about to ask Wrath to teach him the method, a pure white dagger fell in front of his eyes.
The white dagger wasn’t aimed at him or Merlin, it embedded itself into the ground, releasing a soft glow like stage lighting.
Fwaaaaaah!
As the dagger’s light spread outward like a veil, the crumpled bushes and flowers, as if revived from death, began to unfurl their leaves.
But that mysterious light wasn’t only affecting plants.
Bbudududuk!
Blood Horn’s broken leg snapped back into place, and Mark Goetten’s torn-apart waist slowly began to heal.
Even the deep wound on Raon’s chest left by the Demon Slaying Spear began to close up, and the bleeding stopped.
‘Th-Then…’
Raon quickly lowered his gaze to check on Merlin.
Huuuuuuk!
Her chest wound also closed up, and new flesh sprouted like fresh shoots. The wounds covering her entire body began to heal.
‘What is this…’
Raon let out a breath in disbelief and looked up. Larian, as if it were nothing, was still deflecting the Fallen’ magic with her blue dagger, not even glancing this way.
‘This doesn’t make sense.’
There are many mages who use multiple attributes. Merlin, too, though rare, was a mage who used all four elemental attributes.
But those who used light, darkness, and healing magic were extremely rare, and typically only specialized in one of those attributes.
‘She’s different.’
Larian wasn’t just using the four elemental attributes, she was breaking the very framework of that world, wielding healing magic as well.
“The… the pain is almost completely gone.”
Prrrrrr.
Mark Goetten and Blood Horn approached with bewildered eyes, saying that both their wounds and pain had vanished.
“Please guard us.”
Raon asked Mark Goetten to guard them and turned his attention back to Merlin.
‘She’s still not okay.’
She had lost too much blood.
Though all her wounds had healed, unlike himself or Mark Goetten, Merlin hadn’t regained any vitality. Her complexion was still dark, her hands cold like a corpse.
‘There should still be some of the elixir’s energy left in her body.’
He let out a murky breath and activated the Ten Thousand Flames Cultivation to release the lingering energy of the elixir still within Merlin’s body.
‘Please! Please…’
Raon channeled his aura endlessly as he looked at Merlin’s face, as if she would never open her eyes again.
Huuuuuu
* * *
“Healing, huh…”
The Fallen smacked his lips as he looked at Mark Goetten and Raon, who had stood back up with their wounds healed.
“Now your nickname comes to mind.”
He lifted his gaze toward Larian and nodded.
“Sage Larian. The incarnation of the Omnipotent One, said to be capable of anything under heaven and earth.”
The Fallen gave a faint smile, saying that now he understood why she was called the Sage.
“Is that all you’ve got to say before you die?”
Larian tilted her chin slightly as she floated several daggers over her fingers.
“There won’t be time for words later, so how about saying your last will now?”
She spun on her toes, aiming the brilliantly colored daggers at The Fallen.
“I can’t afford to die just yet, so I suppose I’ll put in a bit of effort.”
With a smile, the Fallen brought his hands together and burst a white orb and a black orb. From his back, eight wings sprouted.
The wings on the right emitted pure white light, while those on the left spread sharply like a bat’s, revealing darkness.
“Let’s begin round two.”
As the Fallen flicked his fingertip, gray cracks opened in the air, and overwhelming light and darkness poured out.
Zzzezezezezek!
Larian drew a square with four daggers to form a mana barrier, but she couldn’t withstand the overwhelming light and darkness, it pushed her back.
“So four won’t be enough anymore?”
She glanced downward as she raised a fifth dagger.
‘That woman…’
Larian clicked her tongue briefly as she looked at the masked woman Raon was treating.
‘She’s going to die.’
Even though she had thrown a healing dagger, the woman’s physical vitality hadn’t returned. At this rate, she was as good as dead.
“Where are you looking?”
With a voice tinged with laughter, the Fallen fired a sword wrapped in white light.
Jjeojeojeojeong!
She twisted her dagger to block it, but had she been even a little slower, her forehead would’ve been pierced.
“If you don’t start focusing, you’re going to be in trouble.”
The Fallen tilted his chin as if asserting that he now held the upper hand in this fight.
“…Fine.”
As Larian traced a circle with her left and right hands, as if caressing an orb, ten daggers floated up in front of her chest, forming the shape of a wheel.
Brilliant mana light seeped into the slowly rotating daggers, and deformed, arcane patterns rose across their blades.
Woooooong!
Larian unleashed the true form of the Twelve Demonic Holy Daggers, her blue eyes flashing with a sharp gleam.
“I’ll sweep you away first.”
* * *
‘No…’
Raon bit his lip as he looked at Merlin, whose complexion was growing paler by the moment.
‘Her vitality still isn’t returning!’
Even after forcing the energy of the elixir and his own into her, Merlin was losing her vitality like someone whose life was already over.
It felt like trying to force a flame onto a candle that had already burned out, chilling and hopeless.
‘Please!’
Raon poured all the heat of the Ten Thousand Flames Cultivation, refined through the Ring of Fire, into her, but Merlin’s body only grew colder.
‘Wrath!’
Raon bit his lip and called out to Wrath.
‘Tell me the method you mentioned earlier!’
As he pressed down on Merlin’s heart with his palm and released, he shouted for the method to freeze her body.
Hmm, in this state, there’s no hope.
Wrath let out a low groan, saying it seemed too late.
‘It’s fine, just hurry!’
Haaah…
Wrath let out a deep breath and came up beside him.
The method is…
Though he said there was no hope, he quickly explained the technique for freezing a human body.
Did you understand?
‘Yeah…’
To freeze Merlin’s body, Raon refined Glacier’s cold through the Ring of Fire and spread it over her body.
Pazzzzzzt!
As the cold tried to freeze Merlin’s body, a faint energy leaked from the old woman’s mask she was wearing, disrupting the process.
‘What is this… No, again!’
There was no time to figure out the cause. He spread the cold over her once more, but again, the energy from the mask blocked the freezing.
‘This damn mask…!’
Unable to hold back, Raon grabbed Merlin’s mask. Just like in the forest, the mask was tightly stuck to her face and wouldn’t come off.
‘Then I’ll just break it completely.’
Just as Raon put strength into his hands, using both <Wrath> and Glacier’s cold to shatter the mask entirely—
Pazzzzzzt!
A thin crack formed across the old woman’s mask, and from within, a blinding light burst forth, too intense to open one’s eyes.
Kyaaaaaaaaaah!
