The Reincarnated Assassin is a Genius Swordsman 1003
Chapter 1003
“No.”
Larian raised her arm to block Raon and Evelyn’s path.
“I know you've reached Transcendence, but you can’t handle this alone.”
She shook her head, saying Evelyn could never defeat the Fallen on her own.
“No, it's not just difficult, it’s impossible. The Fallen is still hiding his power.”
Larian lifted her hand as if telling them to step back.
“I’ll take care of the Fallen. You handle the others.”
She declared she would personally kill the Fallen, then raised the four daggers that had been embedded in the ground into her grasp.
“Just leave her be.”
The Fallen, restoring his torn-apart hand to its original state, curled his lips into a smile.
“She looks like she’s eager to die.”
He released a chilling killing intent, seemingly angered by Evelyn’s awakening.
“Knew it. He’s really out of his mind.”
Evelyn let out a hollow laugh as she looked at the Fallen.
“He doesn’t even remember the things he’s done, and he dares to glare at someone with killing intent.”
She twirled her finger up and down.
“Why is the bastard who so thoroughly exploited even my soul and infamy getting angry?”
Evelyn, seemingly filled with genuine rage, had the cross engraved in her eyes glow an even deeper red.
“Soul and infamy?”
Raon narrowed his eyes at Evelyn.
"What do you mean by that?"
The last scene he had witnessed was the Fallen pulling something out of Evelyn’s corpse, so he couldn’t understand what she meant.
Did that masked bastard commit another heinous act?
Wrath scoffed, saying he was one busy scumbag.
"Through the Fallen’s will remaining in my mask, I saw the memories after that."
Evelyn let out a short sigh as she looked at the shattered mask of the old woman.
“That bastard tried to consume the entire Roser Kingdom to make it part of his own power, but because I destroyed it, he lost all of that foundation. So…”
She looked up at the Fallen with eyes filled with hatred.
“He used my infamy and soul to subjugate other kingdoms. With my uncle and the monsters still around, it wasn’t all that hard.”
Evelyn bit her lip, saying that he used Loctar, who didn’t have much time left, and the monsters to endlessly grow the name of Merlin.
“After that, he pretended to lose and pulled back on purpose, then absorbed the strength and wealth of the fallen kingdoms. Gotta say, that bastard’s head works frighteningly well.”
She nodded, saying that’s why the infamy of ‘Merlin’ has persisted until now.
“That explains a lot…”
Raon lowered his brows as he looked at the silent the Fallen.
“The Loctar I saw in your memory and the one I met in the helmet… were a little, no, very different.”
The Loctar in Evelyn’s memory felt more like a warmhearted uncle than a knight, while the Loctar he encountered inside the helmet gave off the cold presence of a knight reeking of blood.
He had wondered why there was such a difference, but now it seemed it had all been part of the Fallen’s plan.
“Seems I let a bit of personal feeling slip in when I made that mask.”
The Fallen clicked his tongue briefly as he looked at the broken mask, as if he hadn’t expected her to see that far.
To shamelessly say that after doing things even the worst of humanity wouldn’t do, he really wasn’t a sane human being.
“Lady Larian.”
Raon looked at Larian, who stood in front of the Fallen.
“I’m sorry, but I’d like to ask you to step aside for this fight.”
He bowed his head, saying he was asking just this once.
“Request or not, it’s impossible.”
Larian said she understood there was a story behind it, but Evelyn simply couldn’t win alone, and waved her hand again.
“I’ll fight alongside her.”
Raon drew Heavenly Drive and Wooden Ring Sword and stood beside Merlin.
“Really? I love you!”
Evelyn clapped loudly, saying that if they fought together, they’d definitely win.
Even in this situation, the way she smiled brightly and said she loved him made it clear she truly was Merlin.
The madwoman is still a madwoman…
Wrath shook his head, saying Merlin hadn’t changed at all.
“Don’t worry too much.”
Evelyn waved lightly at Larian.
“I already took that piece of trash down once before.”
She smiled brightly, saying she could win.
“Haaah…”
Larian let out a low breath as she looked over Evelyn and Raon in turn.
“If it gets dangerous, I’m jumping in immediately.”
She nodded, saying she’d give them just one chance.
“Thank you.”
Raon bowed to Larian to express his gratitude.
“Let’s go!”
Evelyn gave her shoulder a pat, as if she were simply pleased, and floated up into the air.
“Just get a bit of rest.”
Raon gave a smile to Mark Goetten, who stood blinking blankly in surprise, and flew up beside Merlin.
“Hoo…”
The Fallen let out a hollow breath, as if the situation were absurd.
“You seem overly confident just because you've reached Transcendence. I’m not the same Sage you used to know.”
He gripped the mask of the young man’s face with his long fingers, a chilling gleam flashing in his eyes.
“And I’m different too. Because I now know just how insane you really are.”
Evelyn gave a slight jerk of her chin, as if to say “Let’s begin.”
“Raon, just focus on taking that bastard’s head.”
She opened both hands with a faint smile.
“I’ll handle the rest.”
Evelyn drew in a deep breath, saying she would cover defense and support.
“Got it.”
Raon nodded calmly.
‘If I could take down the Black Tower’s master, there’s no reason I can’t kill the Fallen.’
Although using the Sword Field Creation had drained much of his energy, he could still fight well enough.
“Very well.”
The Fallen curled his smooth chin with a thin smile.
“You two—no, all of you here—I’ll kill you all.”
Saying he would end it in one strike, he raised light and darkness above both hands. Unlike before, the two energies didn’t spread out in a haze but began rotating in circular form.
‘That’s…’
Raon narrowed his eyes as he looked at the condensed light and darkness gathering in the Fallen’s hands.
‘Orbs?’
Orb was one of the methods mages used to densely condense mana, allowing them to cast stronger spells more quickly.
“Hmph.”
As Raon tensed from the Fallen’s immense mana, Evelyn let out a scoff.
Snap!
The moment she snapped her fingers, the orbs of light and darkness that the Fallen had created stopped spinning at once.
Bwooosh!
The orbs, their mana flow halted, rippled like boiling water for a moment before exploding all at once.
“Hnhh!”
The Fallen frowned as he looked at the hand where the orb had exploded. Since he had taken a hit once before, his hand wasn’t torn this time, but he did seem genuinely flustered.
“You’ve no idea how much I’ve studied you, do you?”
Evelyn jerked her chin at the Fallen’s sunken eyes.
“Even while I’d lost my memory, I kept thinking about it, how to break your sorcery, and how to destroy your magic.”
She curled her lips into a smirk, saying she had studied all of the Fallen’s magic and sorcery.
“You didn’t have any malice toward me back then, did you?”
The Fallen brushed off the murky energy flowing from his hand and furrowed his brow.
“At first, it was just curiosity…”
Evelyn slowly turned her gaze to look at Raon standing beside her.
"After I was drawn to Raon, it was to find out your weaknesses so he could kill you."
She shrugged, saying she had studied the Fallen because of Raon.
“Back then, I wasn’t strong enough, so even knowing them, I still had to let myself be struck…”
As Evelyn moved her mana-imbued fingertips, the light the Fallen had been preparing behind his back melted away powerlessly.
“But now, with the ring Raon created for me, I can do anything.”
She laughed boldly, saying there was no way she would lose now.
“You must’ve still been under brainwashing.”
“I broke it. No—it broke on its own.”
Evelyn leaned slightly on Raon’s shoulder and let out a quiet breath.
“True love is powerful, after all.”
She let out a mocking smile, saying a monster who toys with even time wouldn’t understand that.
Yeah. She really is that madwoman.
Wrath shook his head, confirming that this was indeed the original Merlin.
“Haaah…”
Raon let out a deep sigh and covered his face with Heavenly Drive and Wooden Ring Sword.
“Well, fine.”
The Fallen nodded calmly.
“After I kill you again, I’ll scrape every last bit of your soul and make full use of it.”
With a chilling voice, he summoned a countless number of weapons of light and darkness above his palms.
“Let’s end this long, cursed tie today.”
Before Evelyn could even cast her spell, the Fallen fired the weapons made of light and darkness.
Whooooom!
Swords, sabers, spears, arrows, daggers, axes, even hammers. They weren’t simple magic, each weapon moved differently as they surged toward Raon and Evelyn.
‘Defense first.’
Raon intended to block and counterattack, but he felt Evelyn’s mana rise from behind.
Whooooom!
Evelyn’s pure mana spread out like a net and wrapped around all of the Fallen’s incoming weapons, erasing them completely.
“Told you. I’ve got your back.”
She extended her finger, signaling him to go.
“Right.”
Trusting in Merlin’s confidence, Raon advanced toward the Fallen and swung Heavenly Drive.
“Hmph.”
The Fallen raised a dark shield with his right hand to block, but once again, Merlin slipped her mana into its flow.
“This…!”
Raon didn’t miss the moment the Fallen’s reaction slowed and extended the Crimson Slash to cut into the Fallen’s arm.
Splurt!
However, as expected of a Transcender, the Fallen reacted in time so that only the back of his hand was sliced instead of his arm.
“You’d better brace yourself.”
Evelyn tilted her head slightly, her eyes flashing coldly toward the frowning the Fallen.
“Because today’s the day your soul gets thrown into the gutter.”
***
“Hah… did she analyze the Fallen’s spell in that split second?”
As Larian let out a faint breath after watching Evelyn’s technique, the Demon Absorbing Ghost moved.
Shhhh.
True to his nature as a ghost who had inherited the power of the Wraith, he vanished into the air and reappeared behind Larian, swinging down a black scythe. It was an annihilating strike that could absorb both human soul and mana.
Screeeech!
Without even looking at him, Larian blocked the black scythe effortlessly using only four daggers.
“I’ll play with you later. Wait your turn.”
“Magic Tower master Larian…”
As the Demon Absorbing Ghost spoke his name, the scythe he held began to emit a pitch-black energy.
“You’d be wise not to underestimate me.”
As black energy flared from the scythe, Larian’s daggers began to tremble, as if their strength had been sapped.
“That scythe…”
Larian furrowed her brow as she looked at the black blade pushing back her daggers.
“That’s no ordinary weapon.”
A scythe that could absorb even the mana and magic infused into her daggers, there was no way such a thing had been made through normal means.
“They say you know every kind of magic in the world, but it’s meaningless—no magic works on me.”
The Demon Absorbing Ghost tilted his chin arrogantly.
“I’m the natural enemy of all mages.”
He sneered, claiming no mage could defeat him.
"How many lives have you drained so far?"
Larian ignored his words and threw a question at him.
“What…?”
"Experiments aren’t done like that."
She scoffed, and more daggers floated up, blocking the black scythe’s next attack.
Screeech—!
But once again, the Demon Absorbing Ghost’s scythe absorbed her mana and magic, spreading an even deeper darkness.
“Pointless—”
Just as he was about to sneer again—
Splurt!
A large hole opened in his shoulder as if he’d been struck by an arrow.
“Wh-what…?”
As he panicked and grabbed his shoulder, this time his right thigh was pierced.
“Ghh…”
Looking down at the bleeding wounds, his jaw trembled.
“You don’t know your place.”
Larian chuckled as she lifted a new dagger imbued with lightning and wind.
“‘Natural enemy’? There’s no such thing for mages. Anything can be broken through research.”
As she moved her fingertips, still holding the dagger, a long hole ripped through the Demon Absorbing Ghost’s abdomen.
“T-this is…”
As if he finally understood, he tilted his chin.
“You used wind and lightning for speed!”
“That’s right.”
Larian nodded, her blue eyes gleaming.
“That black energy doesn’t fully cover your body. So all I have to do is pierce you before you can react.”
As she moved her shoulders, saying it was a very simple method, the Demon Absorbing Ghost’s arm was violently torn off.
"Kkeuaaaak!"
He bent forward, clutching his severed arm.
“Know your place.”
Larian gave a slight tilt of her chin as she looked down at the Demon Absorbing Ghost, doubled over in pain.
“I’m the Magic Tower master of the Five Kings.”
“Hrrgh…”
His pupils quivered under her overwhelming pressure.
As Larian was about to destroy his head with her dagger—
Kuwaaaaang!
A thunderous roar erupted as the Fallen unfolded both wings of light and darkness.
‘From here on…’
Larian furrowed her elegant brows, watching the ominously swirling mana.
'This must be the real beginning.'
***
‘This is bad… really bad.’
Raon narrowed his eyes at the Fallen, who seemed truly enraged.
Kugugugugugu!
A vortex of light and darkness erupted around the Fallen.
It wasn’t just powerful enough to consume the mountain below them, it could swallow the entire surrounding region. Sweat gathered in the grip holding his sword.
‘Evelyn can’t stop this on her own.’
The vortex of light and darkness unleashed by the Fallen was packed with overwhelming mana and complex sorcery.
No matter how much Evelyn had studied the Fallen’s power or reached Transcendence, this wasn’t something she could handle alone.
Shhhhhh!
Just as Raon brought Heavenly Drive behind him, preparing the Firewall and the Golden Void Infusion—
“Go forward.”
Evelyn called to him gently, telling him not to prepare for defense but for attack.
“Trust me—and just move forward.”
She nodded at him, asking him to believe in her.
“You really don’t know your place.”
The Fallen twisted his lips, as if Evelyn’s words had bruised his pride.
"I shall erase everything."
As he raised his fingertip, the storm of light and darkness swelled even larger, engulfing the entire mountain.
Kwaaaaarrrk!
Trees, bushes, and rocks crumbled to dust, and the mountain itself was being carved away.
This was no longer within the realm of human power. It was the kind of absolute magic worthy of a Transcender.
Still, why not give it a try?
Wrath tilted his chin toward Evelyn.
Trust her this time.
‘That’s a surprise.’
Raon smirked as he glanced at Wrath.
What?
‘Back then, you said she was crazy and told me never to trust her.’
Th-that was…
Wrath let out a strangled noise, as if realizing his own change.
‘Guess you’re not so bad after all.’
Raon smiled faintly and turned his gaze back forward.
Kugugugugu!
He curled his lips slightly as he watched the massive vortex of light and darkness consuming the mountain surge toward him.
‘Yeah. Just this once, I’ll trust her.’
Abandoning all defense, he charged straight toward the vortex, or rather, toward the Fallen behind it, with both swords wreathed in opposing auras.
Kugugugugu!
Even as the vortex's waves threatened to sear his skin, he did not retreat.
‘If I’ve chosen to trust her, then I go all the way.’
Evelyn had asked him to believe in her. Considering everything she had lived through, those were not words she would say lightly. That was why he resolved to die here if he must—and focused solely on the attack.
Fwooooosh!
The vortex of light brushed against his hair, while the vortex of darkness tore at the sleeve of his uniform.
As the storm threatened to melt not just his skin, but even his bones and muscles, Evelyn’s softly glowing mana descended in front of his eyes.
Thuuuuuung!
Toooooong!
The vortex of light and darkness suddenly froze, as if locked in place. The absolute spell the Fallen had unleashed began to dissolve like smoke under Evelyn’s spellwork.
Just as she said, when she asked him to trust her, she erased the Fallen’s ultimate technique without leaving a trace.
Taaang!
As the vortex vanished, Raon surged forward with extreme speed using the Supreme Harmony Steps, closing the distance to the Fallen.
“Crazy—!”
The Fallen scrambled to raise a defense, but Raon’s sword had already broken into his guard.
Raon Zieghart Style Swordplay — Sword’s Silvery Dream, followed by the Flawless Sea of Fire of the Ten Thousand Flames Cultivation.
The crimson wave of the Flawless Sea of Fire pierced through the Fallen’s heart, and the blurred slash of the Sword’s Silvery Dream sliced across his neck.
Shhhhrrrak!
