The Reincarnated Assassin is a Genius Swordsman 1005
Chapter 1005
“Si-Sir the Fallen….”
“He’s really dead? The Apostle of Resurrection…?”
“Sir the Fallen was defeated by those brats? Th-That makes no sense!”
Eden’s executives gulped dryly as they looked at the ground where the Fallen had turned to dust and vanished. Their expressions showed they couldn’t believe the Fallen was really dead.
“Haaa.”
Raon set Evelyn down on the ground and stood up, inspecting the spot where the Fallen had died.
‘Is he really dead this time?’
He forcibly stirred up his unstable aura and spread his aura perception, but he couldn’t feel the Fallen’s energy anywhere.
‘Wrath.’
Raon gestured toward Wrath, who was stroking his chin.
Hmmm…
Wrath furrowed his eyes as he stared down into the deep pit that looked like an abyss.
The King of Essence cannot feel his energy either. It seems to have vanished completely
He nodded, saying it seemed the guy was truly dead this time.
‘What about earlier, when he was burned?’
Back then, a little of his mana was still scattered in the air.
Wrath glanced sideways.
He might have died, but the King of Essence also thought he might have survived.
He lowered his eyebrows, saying it was such an ambiguous situation that he hadn’t spoken about it.
‘Then now…?’
It seems the likelihood of death is high.
Wrath nodded, saying not only the spell but even the traces of the Fallen’s mana had disappeared.
‘He’s not going to come back to life again, is he?’
Unless someone else helps him, it’ll be difficult for him to do it on his own.
Wrath calmly shook his head.
That resurrection just now was not something that can be used by normal means.
He lowered a finger, saying that method of resurrection couldn’t be used again right away.
‘Then that’s a relief.’
Raon let out a long breath and nodded.
“Looks like it’s really over this time.”
Larian nodded as if she had read his thoughts.
“Relax your face already.”
She waved her hand, telling him to take it easy.
“Now…”
Evelyn dragged her exhausted legs and forced herself to walk over to him.
“It’s really over?”
She looked at the ground where the Fallen had died with a serious gaze.
“Yeah. I think it’s over.”
Raon looked at Evelyn and nodded.
“Really?”
Evelyn asked again, still seeming unable to believe the Fallen was dead. Blood was still flowing from her nose and mouth.
“Yes. It’s over.”
Raon slowly closed his eyes and then opened them again. Since both Wrath and Larian confirmed it, he gave his answer with certainty.
“Th-Thank you….”
Evelyn brought out the words of thanks with her two trembling hands clasped together.
“Mom will be truly grateful too.”
She seemed to be thinking of Sella, and her eyes grew teary.
“You don’t need to thank me. The Fallen was killed by your hands.”
If he had fought alone, he would have ended up turned to dust by the void sphere that bastard had fired at the end.
The reason he was able to kill the Fallen wasn’t because he was strong, but thanks to Evelyn’s ability to analyze magic.
“Haa…”
Evelyn let out a breath laced with the scent of blood and slumped back down onto the ground.
“What should I say? I just can’t believe it. It feels like he’ll come back to life and glare at me again.”
As if her heart had softened because of her regained memories, she covered her face with both hands.
“It’s okay.”
Raon raised his hand and held Evelyn’s shoulder.
“Even if he shows up again, I’ll kill him.”
He comforted Evelyn, saying that even if the Fallen came back to life, he would cut him down again.
“That's reassuring.”
Evelyn gave a faint smile and nodded.
“But… I feel a little cold.”
She trembled all over as she said she was cold.
“Is it because of the blood loss…?”
Evelyn had lost so much blood that it wouldn’t have been strange if she had died on the spot, so even though she had reached Transcendence, her condition wasn’t good.
“Just wait a little.”
Raon held Evelyn’s hand and transferred the heat of the Ten Thousand Flames Cultivation into her.
“Getting a hug would be nice, but….”
Evelyn weakly lifted the corners of her lips and tightened her grip on his hand.
“Just holding hands like this is kind of romantic too, don’t you think?”
She smiled softly, as if anything would be fine.
“Was that another joke?”
Raon frowned slightly and shook his head.
Still, because he had seen in her memories why she had changed so much, he couldn't push her away immediately.
“You kids. Go flirt somewhere else!”
Larian furrowed her brow as if annoyed.
“That’s not what this is.”
Raon shook his head, let go of Evelyn’s hand, and stood up.
“Don’t move. Just rest.”
Larian shook her head, saying she’d take care of the rest.
“No. I’ll fight too.”
Raon shook his head and raised Heavenly Drive.
‘I have to fight to the end.’
Larian had used Transcendence level magic to bring him here and then held off the Fallen and the Demon Absorbing Ghost alone.
She looked fine outwardly, but she must have been exhausted inside, it was only right to help her.
“Me too…”
Evelyn also forced herself to her feet, as if she intended to fight as well.
“That’s enough. Lie down.”
Raon pressed on Evelyn’s shoulder and laid her back down.
“You need to rest.”
He shook his head as he wiped the blood flowing from Evelyn’s nose and mouth with a handkerchief.
“This isn’t so bad either.”
Evelyn said it reminded her of old times and smiled.
“Those days may have been happy, but from now on, it’ll be even better.”
Raon nodded as he told Evelyn that she would be happier from now on.
“Don't tell me, is that a proposal?”
Evelyn gasped, as if truly surprised.
“Ah, I’m not ready for that yet. Should we book a wedding hall first?”
“Enough already…”
Raon shook his head and stood up.
Unless there’s another memory we haven’t seen, it’s hard to explain her going that crazy…
Wrath narrowed his eyes, saying there must definitely be something more hidden between the memories.
‘I don’t know.’
And I don’t want to think about it.
Raon let out a short breath and walked toward the battlefield where Eden’s demons stood.
“I will join too!”
Mark Goetten said he would help and followed behind.
“Yes. I’m counting on you.”
Raon gave a faint smile and nodded. He allowed it, thinking it would likely help Mark Goetten as well.
“Let’s finish this as quickly as we can.”
He infused Glacier’s cold energy over Heavenly Drive and charged toward Eden’s demons.
Chwaaaaaaak!
Though both his body and mind were greatly exhausted, the sword wreathed in unyielding will split Eden’s demons apart along with their masks.
“Here, today…”
Raon stepped forward with a fierce advance, stepping over the collapsing demons of Eden.
“I’ll erase the name of Eden!”
* * *
“Ha…”
Larian gave a hollow laugh as she watched Raon driving back Eden’s demons.
‘Is that guy really human?’
Raon had broken through countless demons of Eden, taken down the Demon Slaying Spear, and then come here to defeat the Fallen.
Even after going through such intense battles, he still seemed to have strength left, and now he was even taking care of the remaining remnants of Eden. It was so absurd she couldn’t speak.
‘If I leave him alone, he’ll probably take care of everything by himself.’
Even though Raon was heavily injured and exhausted, he was a Transcender, so he could likely handle all the remaining demons of Eden on his own.
‘I really want to take him apart and study him.’
Larian licked her lips.
‘How is his mental world structured?’
For a mage, mental strength is truly an important element. She wanted to find out how Raon possessed such strong will.
‘Not just Raon, should I study Merlin together with him too?’
Since she’d earned the right to make a request of Raon, it seemed quite possible.
‘First, the experiment…’
Just as Larian was smiling while thinking about what kind of experiment to prepare—
Paaaang!
A scythe wreathed in black smoke came crashing down, aiming for her neck.
Kyaaaang!
Larian knocked aside the black scythe with a dagger and furrowed her brow.
“You were going to die anyway. Why so impatient?”
She clicked her tongue as she looked at the Demon Absorbing Ghost, who had raised his eerie scythe.
“He will never die. He’ll come back and tear your soul to pieces.”
The Demon Absorbing Ghost ground his teeth, as if he refused to believe Fallen was dead.
“I’ll kill all of you and wait for his return!”
When he raised his scythe high overhead, the air split apart with black currents. The sky turned dark, as if the soul-harvesting power of the Wraith King had grown stronger.
“That won’t happen.”
Larian gathered five daggers in her right hand.
“Because you’ll die here.”
“Nonsense! Your magic no longer works on me!”
The Demon Absorbing Ghost generated black currents that wrapped around his entire body. Unlike before, there wasn’t even a gap through which magic could be driven in.
Wooooooong!
Not only his own mana, but even the mana of nature was being sucked into the Demon Absorbing Ghost’s black scythe, as an immense energy of death began to rise.
“Die!”
The Demon Absorbing Ghost screamed and swung the scythe horizontally.
Fwoooosh!
A sharp slash that ripped the space apart. But what was truly dangerous was the black current that could cut a person’s soul.
“That’s the kind of line people who die usually say.”
As Larian raised her fingertips, the five daggers vanished, and a white dagger radiating brilliant light appeared.
Puhhhhhhhng!
The dagger of light shattered the pitch-black slash in an instant and pierced a hole through the Demon Absorbing Ghost’s chest.
Kwaaaarrrrk!
It wasn’t a small hole like before. A hole the size of an adult man’s head opened up, and a terrifying amount of blood gushed out.
“Guhhk…”
The Demon Absorbing Ghost trembled at the lips, not at the wound in his chest, but as he looked at Larian, shocked by the power of the dagger.
“I told you. I’m on a different level than you.”
When Larian flicked her hand, the Demon Absorbing Ghost’s head, along with his mask, flew off entirely.
Thunk.
Having lost both head and heart, the Demon Absorbing Ghost’s corpse fell helplessly to the ground like an autumn leaf.
Wooooong!
When Larian tapped the dagger of light with her finger, five daggers floated before her eyes once again.
“Hmph…”
Larian licked her lips and looked down. Raon had already dealt with the remnants of Eden and was now approaching the executives who had retreated backward.
“So it’s really over…”
The moment she said it was over, Larian’s gaze wavered, and she pulled her hood back over her head.
“I-I want to go home…”
Just like during the Conference of the Five Kings, she stammered as she slumped her shoulders.
“M-Maybe I’ll just grab the scythe first.”
She glanced around nervously and then descended to the ground to pick up the black scythe.
* * *
“Huh…”
Raon let out an empty breath as he watched Larian bowing her head while picking up the black scythe.
‘Does she really have a dual personality or something?’
After confidently pressuring the Fallen and effortlessly tearing apart the Demon Absorbing Ghost, seeing Larian suddenly act like a weakling made him think she might have another personality.
‘I should ask Lady Chamber later.’
Glenn probably wouldn't know, so it seemed he would have to ask Chamber to find out Larian's true personality.
Hurry up and finish cleaning up!
Wrath furrowed his brow, saying that could wait, and to focus on cleaning up Eden first.
The King of Essence is starving! That memory was far too long!
He let out a turbid sigh, saying it felt like he hadn’t eaten in over a month from spending so long inside Evelyn’s memories.
‘Don’t rush me.’
Raon brushed Wrath aside and straightened his back.
‘From now on, I have to focus.’
The ones before him now were Eden’s executives. Some were Grandmasters, so even though he was tired, he had to fight with full strength.
“You monster…”
An executive wearing a bull-shaped helmet trembled at the jaw, gripping a massive hammer. Among those remaining, this man was the strongest.
“Anyone can see that you guys are the monsters.”
Raon exhaled briefly and raised Heavenly Drive.
Fwoooosh!
Just as he was about to unleash the Frost Pond with Glacier’s cold energy to kill the man with the bull helmet as fast as possible—
Kyaaaang!
A strange sound came from above his head. When he looked up, a blackish-red bell had floated up alone and was swaying in the wind.
‘No way…’
The Fallen’s solid body had crumbled to dust, yet the bell that had been in his possession remained completely intact without a single scratch—that was shocking.
‘And why is it making a sound all of a sudden?’
The black-red bell swayed faintly, emitting a strange sound.
It was a sound so beautiful it made one smile unconsciously, yet it also sent chills creeping down his spine.
Ominous. Each time that clear, ringing sound of the bell echoed out, an unsettling anxiety wrapped around his whole body, as if his heart were sinking.
‘It’s dangerous…’
He didn’t know the name or purpose of that bell, but one thing was clear, he couldn’t let it keep ringing like this. His soul was warning him to destroy it.
Fwaaaaaah!
Raon urgently turned his body. He drew up his remaining energy onto the blade of Heavenly Drive and unleashed the Flame Dragon Art toward the bell.
Kuwaaaaaaaang!
A heat that seemed as though it would burn down the sky surged forward and swallowed the bell.
A massive cloud of smoke rose, and the sound abruptly stopped, as if the bell had melted away.
‘Did I stop it?’
No more sound could be heard. Thankfully, it seemed he had stopped it before something could happen.
Raon…
Just as Raon let out a sigh of relief, Wrath’s murky voice rang out.
Fwoooosh…
The black smoke stirred up by the Flame Dragon Art slowly began to settle, and within it, the shape of a person started to appear.
Thud.
The moment Raon saw him, he stopped breathing. It wasn’t by his own will. His entire body, down to every cell, stopped responding as if it no longer belonged to him.
‘What kind of human energy is this…’
He didn’t seem human. It was the sky—no, an energy wave as dark and annihilating as if it held a night sky steeped in deepening darkness. His soul trembled at it.
But he couldn’t run, nor could he look away. As if stakes had been driven into his limbs, he couldn’t move even a single finger.
Fwoooosh.
As the black smoke dispersed, the figure of a man emitting a despairing energy wave was revealed.
He had a black-and-red long jacket draped over his shoulders, and a subtle light shimmered over it as if scales had sprouted from its surface. It didn’t feel like a cheap ornament, but instead gave off the antique atmosphere of a relic
On his face, he wore a red dragon helmet, and unlike a typical dragon, ten horns of various sizes jutted out from around the head.
A finishing touch, perhaps. As flame-like eyes flashed from within the dragon helmet, an absolute energy wave, untouchable by anyone, swept over heaven and earth.
Kugugugugugu!
Even while activating the Ring of Fire and his aura, his body bent on its own, and his heart tightened. It felt as though his mind was being twisted under overwhelming power.
Kurrrrk.
His throat seized, and blood burst from his mouth. Internal injuries had been inflicted by the man’s energy wave alone.
Kiiiiiiiiii!
In the man’s hand was the bell Raon had failed to burn, and the bell’s resonance spread outward, carrying a tone even clearer than before.
Gooooooo!
His gaze turned toward Raon. As Raon saw the undying flame in his eyes—like the blaze of hell—it felt as if his soul was being read, and a filthy sensation brushed across his skin.
‘This man…’
Raon bit his lip hard enough to draw blood as he stared at the red dragon helmet.
‘Is he… the Heavenly Demon?’
The earth trembled as if moved by his existence, and the sky rippled as if shivering in fear.
Born as a demon, and ascended to the heavens.
The absolute being of the demon, to whom this world had given the name Heavenly Demon, was standing before his eyes
‘One of Eden’s pillars? No. Absolutely not. This man…’
Raon swallowed dryly as he looked at the absolute being of nothingness who erased the presence of all things in existence.
‘He is Eden.’
Advance Chapters
Damnnnn this novel is so good with the cliffs, soooo gooood. Many novels should learn from this pace or at least in the way that the chapters end.
ReplyDeleteThe heavenly demon will probably just resurrect the fallen. His death needed more context or desperation, idk how to put it, like with the black tower master.
The Cliffs are despair inducing yet it makes me all hooked up like a worm on a hook
