The Reincarnated Assassin is a Genius Swordsman 933
Chapter 933
You damn ghost-like bastard….
Wrath trembled with pale lips.
Did you plan all of this from the start? Just what the hell did you eat to make your brain work this damn well?!
'As if that were possible.'
Raon shook his head calmly.
'It was all just a coincidence.'
Zircon choosing to follow him, Wrath deciding on his own to place a bet, and even the two Demon Kings showing up here, everything had happened by chance. Even the god or demon god Wrath cries out to wouldn’t be able to plan everything so perfectly.
'Stop wasting time and just keep your promise already.'
Raon tapped Wrath on the head.
W-Wrath, maybe… but you want me to hand over part of my soul, too…?
Wrath's eyes darted around.
If the King of Essence gives you all of that, he won’t be a monarch of the devildom anymore, he’ll be nothing but a lowly grunt!
Shaking his head furiously, he protested that giving up a part of his soul was too much.
S-Since we’ve been through a lot together, how about he just give you his <Wrath>?
'No.'
Raon cut him off decisively.
You wicked bastard! Do you have no conscience at all?! Do you really need to bury me in the ground before you’re satisfied—
'Who said I was taking it all? I'm just borrowing it. Once this is over, I’ll return everything.'
Wrath seemed to have completely misunderstood, but Raon had no intention of actually taking Wrath’s wrath and soul. Once he deceived Greed, he would return everything exactly as it was.
Hmm? In that case, wouldn't it be better for me to descend into your body?
Wrath tilted his head, as if suggesting that would be the safer and more reliable option.
'There are things I need to say to Greed, but more importantly, descending puts too much strain on you.'
With his current state, after absorbing Zircon and Peridot, he could use the Demon King's Advent. But that sword field would place a huge burden on Wrath, he was already in a much-weakened state. He didn’t want to push Wrath any further.
Hmm….
Wrath let out a low groan, as if he hadn’t expected Raon to consider his well-being.
'And besides, I have no intention of getting stronger by relying on someone else's power. I will stand at the highest peak with my own power and my own sword.'
Becoming stronger than anyone else, that was the fastest way to take revenge on Derus. And to achieve that, he had to reach the top on his own.
You're going to get stronger with your own power? Bullshit!
Wrath jumped up, furrowing his brows.
If that’s the case, then hand over all the stats and traits you took! All of those were created by my power!
He swung his hand, demanding that Raon return what he had taken.
'…….'
Raon stared at Wrath for a long moment before lowering his hand.
'It says I can’t.'
Huh? It says?! Who did you even ask?!
'I asked the system, and it said no.'
Raon shook his head with a serene gaze, as if he had truly received an answer from the system.
What utter bullshit! Even he can’t contact the system, so what nonsense are you spouting?!
Wrath ground his teeth, furious at the blatant lie.
'It's true. We had a proper discussion and reached an agreement.'
Raon let out a faint smile, as if he had just wrapped up a reasonable conversation with the system.
The King of Essence is right here! The system exists because of his power, and yet he has no control over it!
Wrath clutched his chest in frustration, as if he was about to lose his mind.
'Anyway, it’s not happening. Just send me your wrath and part of your soul already.'
Ugh… If only you couldn’t talk, he wouldn’t find you as annoying…
Wrath ground his teeth and landed on Raon’s shoulder.
You better return everything! You have to keep your word this time!
'When have I ever broken a promise? I don’t lie very often.'
Hah….
Wrath shook his head, looking at Raon as if he were some incomprehensible creature.
How the hell did the King of Essence end up with such a lunatic….
Letting out a long sigh, he placed his hand on Raon’s shoulder and transferred his wrath and a portion of his soul.
'Khh…!'
The moment Raon absorbed Wrath’s <Wrath> and a portion of Wrath’s soul entered him, a twisting pain shot through him despite his mind and body already being fully recovered. Even though it was only a small part of Wrath’s soul, the changes it brought were overwhelming. No matter how many times he experienced it, Wrath was truly on another level, even among the Demon Kings.
Rumble!
The moment Wrath’s authority and soul fused with him, an uncontrollable surge of power erupted from his body and mind. It felt as if his very soul was soaring to a higher level, as though he had transcended humanity itself.
'Now, I have to suppress this.'
Raon forcibly pushed down the sudden surge of his soul’s level, concealing his presence. He reacted quickly enough that, on the outside, there wouldn’t be any noticeable difference.
Huh? If you were just going to hide it, then why did you ask for it in the first place?
Wrath tilted his head in confusion.
'What Greed wants isn’t just a fight, it’s me.'
Raon clicked his tongue as he watched Greed effortlessly deflect Lust’s sword.
'If he realizes you could descend into me at any moment, he’ll flee immediately.'
T-Then….
‘Exactly. I’m going to show an opening on purpose, and when he has nowhere left to escape, I’ll reveal everything I’ve received from you.’
A chilling smile crept onto his lips as he imagined Greed’s face in that moment.
'Until then, I have to keep everything hidden. So for now….'
Raon crossed his arms and slightly lifted his chin.
'Let’s just watch the Demon Kings fight.'
Hah….
Wrath blinked rapidly, struggling to comprehend the madness in front of him.
Where the hell did a guy like this even come from…?
Shaking his head in disbelief, he muttered to himself.
'Stop looking at me and focus on the fight.'
Raon turned Wrath’s head forward, directing his attention to the battle unfolding before them.
Boooom!
Lust coated her sword with the authority of <Lust> and relentlessly pressured Greed in close combat, while Gluttony fired white beams from a distance to support her.
'Lust’s swordsmanship is the real deal.'
Wrath had always claimed that Lust’s strength didn’t come from her sword, but from the authority of <Lust>. However, Raon could clearly see that her techniques were infused with resolve, determination and obsession, making them incredibly refined. Even without her authority, her swordsmanship alone was on par with—or perhaps even greater than—Transcender warriors.
'And Gluttony… how should I describe it? She fights as if her energy is limitless.'
The energy infused in each of Gluttony’s white beams was strong enough to be considered an ultimate technique from a Transcender warrior. It was as if her demonic energy was endlessly replenished, likely due to how much she had consumed.
'But even if they combine their strength, Greed is still above them.'
Greed wielded golden light in his grasp, deflecting Lust’s sword while seamlessly evading Gluttony’s attacks.
Despite facing two opponents, he handled both melee and ranged combat with ease, proving that he was a step above Lust and Gluttony. Even though none of them were fighting at full power, it was clear that the difference wouldn’t be significant even if they were.
'This is a good learning experience.'
Raon rotated the Ring of Fire, biting his lip as he analyzed every detail of their battle. He wasn’t going to miss a single movement.
He’s the one who set up this fight, and now he’s sitting back and watching?
Wrath stared at Raon in disbelief, his mouth slightly open.
This guy is truly beyond insane….
* * *
Fwoooosh!
Greed let Lust’s sword slide past his shoulder and narrowed his eyes.
'This isn’t as easy as I expected.'
Even though I was the stronger one, facing Lust and Gluttony together wasn’t a simple task.
If Wrath’s vessel hadn’t caught his eye, he wouldn’t have even considered staying, he would have turned his back and left immediately. The risk far outweighed the potential reward.
'But….'
That only made me want it more.
The devildom had far more Transcenders than the human world, so in terms of raw strength, that human wasn’t particularly special.
But nowhere, absolutely nowhere, had I seen a being who grew as fast as that human did.
Moreover, after surviving this war and risking his life in battle, he must have grown again, I was deeply curious about how high he could climb.
'Of course, that’s not the only reason.'
Wrath’s vessel was wielding Lust and Gluttony like swords. In other words, capturing that human would be the same as gaining control over both Demon Kings. He had to be captured here, no matter what.
'This is my only chance.'
Just moments ago, that human's wrath and soul had suddenly surged, then dropped back down. It was clear he had attempted to summon Wrath and failed.
If Wrath descended now, any chance of capturing the human would vanish. That meant this was the only opportunity left.
'To do that…'
Greed countered Gluttony’s <Gluttony> with his own <Greed> and narrowed his eyes.
‘I have to create an opening between those two.’
Gluttony and Lust were more focused on defending Wrath’s vessel than attacking. Even for him, breaking through that defense to capture the human wasn’t going to be easy.
‘If there’s no opening on their side… I’ll make one myself.’
As he deflected Lust’s sword strikes that came crashing in like a storm, Greed curled his lips into a smile.
“No matter how much you beg, Wrath won’t look back at you. He’s just using you.”
He let out a mocking laugh to provoke Lust.
“Just look at how he hides behind you after pushing you to the front. That alone tells the whole story.”
"Shut up! What would someone who buys love with money know?!"
Lust was furious at the insult to Wrath, unleashing an immense surge of pink current as she fired an overwhelming sword strike.
“Tch…”
Gluttony clicked her tongue and triggered an explosion of white light behind Greed.
Boom!
Greed suffered a significant shoulder injury from the combined attack of Lust's sword strike, which tore through space, and the explosion caused by Gluttony's <Gluttony>.
"This is the end!"
Lust, stirred with emotion (agitated), broke from her protective distance and charged ahead. Her sword raced toward Greed’s neck.
'Now!'
Just as Lust’s sword came crashing down like a bolt of lightning, Greed’s golden eye gleamed ominously. It was as if he had never been injured at all. He parried Lust’s attack and dashed inward.
“Black Mouth.”
Realizing the danger, Gluttony spread her fingers wide, unleashing a chilling level of authority.
Crack!
The sky above Greed split open, and a glowing red demonic maw appeared. (Why call it black mouth when it's clearly red? Why, author, why?)
“To think you’d even use that. You really must like this human!”
Greed chuckled at the sight of the gaping red maw.
“Greed!”
Realizing she had fallen for his bait, Lust ignited her entire body in a pink flame and charged toward him, throwing her sword away and summoning an overwhelming concentration of <Lust> in her hand.
“You’re already too late.”
Greed snapped his fingers, summoning a downpour of golden coins from the air. They scattered across the battlefield, extinguishing Lust’s energy and blocking Gluttony’s attack with a shimmering wall of gold.
“Just stand there and watch.”
As if everything had ended, Greed approached Raon and extended his hand.
“To see how this guy grow….”
“Filthy worm!”
Raon spat out Wrath’s favorite insult, one the demon king used on others more than anyone else, and at that moment, he unleashed the wrath and soul he had received from Wrath.
Kuwaaaaaah!
His soul and Wrath’s soul blended together like swirling paint, and in that instant, an energy wave more intense than anything the monarch of Wrath had ever emanated exploded outward
Kugugugugugu!
A blackish-red wave spread endlessly, distorting the dark sky and tearing the ground apart.
Goooooooh….
Though three Demon Kings had descended upon the battlefield, the one radiating the most immense soul level… was a single human.
“What is this…?”
Greed's golden eyes shook like a sailboat overturned in a tidal wave, as if he had never imagined this situation.
“In the playground created by the King of Essence….”
Above Raon’s red eyes, a pressure darker and heavier than that of the monarch of Wrath began to rise.
“Did you enjoy yourself, merchant?”
* * *
Raon had sent Lust an aura message during the battle, telling her to act as if she were agitated and reveal a brief opening. Just as he expected, Greed didn’t miss the chance and tried to rush in. The moment he reached out his hand toward Raon, Raon unleashed the wrath and soul he had received from Wrath, completely reversing the flow of the situation.
He had hidden his own soul deep within and wrapped himself with Wrath’s soul on the outside, so in Greed’s monocle, Raon would appear as Wrath himself.
“Ha…”
Just as Raon expected, Greed froze on the spot, seemingly in shock after seeing Wrath in him.
“How…?”
Even now, Greed couldn’t believe what was happening. His chiseled jaw quivered ever so slightly.
“How?”
Raon mimicked Wrath’s usual tone as he shook his head.
“You’ve been dancing in the palm of the King of Essence’s hand from the very beginning.”
He gave a cold laugh, acting as if he’d planned it all from the start.
“I told you, didn’t I? That he’s Wrath.”
Lust licked her lips with amusement, pointing her sword at Greed’s back.
"Yeah. The Wrath who’s always buying me ice cream…"
Gluttony also extended her hand, summoning a massive devouring mouth, as if ready to swallow Greed whole.
"How much did you see?"
Greed bit his lip and glared at Raon.
"Everything."
Raon lifted his chin, feigning complete control as if he'd predicted and orchestrated every step.
"But you’re not the calculating type, are you?"
"The King of Essence has no need for that. But his subordinate is another matter, he’s been reading your every thought."
Raon gave a confident nod, raising Wrath alongside himself as if to lift both of their images together.
“Haa…”
Greed’s fingers twitched slightly, as though weighing whether to keep fighting, before he let out a deep sigh.
"I give up. Something still feels off, but continuing this fight would cost me far too much."
He raised both hands as he spoke, signaling that he was done. It looked like a clear gesture of surrender.
“Name your price.”
Greed, suppressing his greed, seemed to shift back into the role of a merchant. He admitted defeat and calmly asked Raon to state what he wanted.
"You’re just going to admit it like that? Even after taking such a loss?"
Raon narrowed his eyes, watching Greed closely. He couldn’t afford to relax, this was the kind of man who could do something insane without warning.
"If I push any further, I’ll end up with even greater losses."
Raon had honestly expected Greed to put up one last fight, so he was surprised by how quickly he calculated the profit and loss. The guy really was dangerous.
“The King of Essence’s condition is simple. Embed your authority into this body.”
Raon gave a small tilt of his chin and raised his hand. If it were up to him, he would’ve demanded money too, but Wrath never cared about that. Authority alone was his demand.
He knew it!
Wrath grit his teeth and lifted his head, as though everything had finally clicked into place.
You lump of desire! That title, monarch of Greed, should’ve been yours!
He shook his head wildly, no longer sure whether Raon was a human or a demon king himself.
‘What’s so difficult about it.’
Raon smiled, reading Greed's eyes, which seemed to have already made a decision.
‘We can do both.’
