The Reincarnated Assassin is a Genius Swordsman 926
Chapter 926
Paaaaang!
The wall of darkness created by the Black Tower’s master split apart, and his shoulder was torn away along with the Demon God’s Robe.
“Kuaaaaagh!”
Unable to withstand the pain of his flesh being severed, the Black Tower’s master bent forward. Bright red blood gushed from his shoulder.
“Ultimate Spell.”
Yet, Chamber did not halt her incantation even after witnessing his agony.
“P-Please….”
The Black Tower's master begged for mercy, but Chamber simply extended her finger forward.
“Fracture of the Void.”
“You damn bitch!”
The Black Tower’s master gathered demonic energy and attempted to form a magic field, but with his arm torn away, he could not complete the spell properly.
Puuuuuum!
The spatial shockwave unleashed by Chamber tore through the magic field and crushed the Black Tower's master's skull. His headless body collapsed like a crumbling sandcastle.
"Haaaah…."
Even after he collapsed, Chamber did not lower her hand or dispel the magic circle.
‘I have to do it one more time….’
Most mages create a mana ring in their heart to store mana. The Black Tower’s master would be no exception, so she had to destroy his heart completely to be certain of his death.
“Kuhuk….”
Just as she was about to cast another spell, blackened, dead blood spurted from her mouth.
‘I feel like I’m going to die.’
She still had enough mana left to use the Fracture of the Void, but her mind and body were on the verge of breaking. A sharp, splitting pain ran through her head, and her vision blurred.
But she couldn’t stop now. Even if she were to die here, she had to make sure the Black Tower's master never drew breath again.
“Ultimate Spell.”
Chamber raised her trembling fingers and aimed at the fallen Black Tower’s master’s heart.
“Fracture of the Void.”
The moment she forced herself to maintain her concentration and completed the incantation, the Demon God’s Robe, which had been protecting the Black Tower’s master, exploded. A fountain of dark-red blood erupted from his chest.
Hwoooooooom.
The Black Tower's master lay motionless, as if he was truly dead, and the demonic energy within him began to dissipate.
“Haaah….”
Only after she destroyed both his head and his heart did Chamber finally lower her shaking hand.
‘Is it over?’
She had thought she might die before the Black Tower’s master, but fortunately, she had finished him off first.
‘I was lucky… No—it’s thanks to those kids.’
Truthfully, she hadn't expected to fight this hard. If not for the courage displayed by Raon and the others throughout this war, she wouldn't have been able to endure until the end.
If she hadn't witnessed everyone else fighting before her, the one lying in ruin here wouldn’t have been the Black Tower’s master—it would have been her.
"Now I finally feel the pain…."
Chamber bit her lip, trying to endure the pain. Her skin was torn, her wounds exposing bone, but what hurt even more was the inside of her head and her heart. It meant she had truly been at the brink of death.
‘Now I just need to return, close the gate to the devildom, and deal with the remaining remnants.’
She wanted to collapse and rest right there, but she was worried about the others who remained in the Black Tower’s dimension.
‘Even with Raon and Karoon there, the casualties will be severe.’
The Silent Spirit World was a sorcery that revived demons and demonic creatures. Until the gate was closed, they would continue resurrecting. She had to return as quickly as possible, close the gate, and save as many as she could.
"Just… one deep breath…."
Chamber straightened her back and closed her eyes. As she focused on recovering her body and mind through mana breathing technique, a sudden chill ran down her spine.
‘Wait.’
She reopened her eyes and looked at the Black Tower’s master’s corpse, now soaked in blood.
‘Something is wrong with the demonic energy.’
When a demonized human dies, their demonic energy usually dissipates slowly into the natural mana, much like unburnable trash gradually decomposing.
But now, the Black Tower’s master’s demonic energy was disappearing abnormally fast.
‘Don’t tell me….?’
Chamber ignited a flame over his corpse.
Whooosh!
Even though the Black Tower's master was dead, his Demon God’s Robe should have still functioned. Yet, his body burned away far too easily.
That meant—his body wasn’t real.
"Shit!"
Chamber gritted her teeth and turned around. Without even wiping away the blood dripping from her lips, she leapt forward and crossed through space.
Baaaaang!
* * *
Raon bit his lip as he stared at the gate to the devildom.
‘There’s only one chance.’
The gate was still growing larger with each passing moment.
Raon wasn’t in peak condition. If he missed this opportunity now, he would never be able to close the gate again.
Look at the gate properly.
Wrath hopped onto Raon’s shoulder and jerked his chin forward.
You must unleash all of your wrath at once if you wish to sever that dimension.
He raised his small hand, pointing directly at the spot where Raon needed to strike.
Think of it as crushing that gate with the King of Essence’s wrath. Do it brutally!
Wrath clenched his fists, emphasizing that only an explosive burst of power could close the gate to the devildom.
“Hoo….”
Raon slowly controlled his breathing and resonated with the Ring of Fire. He fully opened all three energy centers, deepening his state within the realm of Transcendence
Whoooosh!
As he simultaneously activated the Ten Thousand Flames Cultivation and Glacier, frost and fire erupted from Heavenly Drive.
The two opposing energies, utterly different in nature, were fused together through Garunua’s wind, as Raon raised Heavenly Drive above his head.
Ignore the demonic creatures. Focus solely on closing the gate
‘I know.’
Raon kept his gaze fixed on the gate, ignoring the demonic creatures and demons that glared at him with their eerie black eyes.
Now! Channel your wrath and bring it down!
Listening to Wrath's words, he unleashed the resonance of his soul. The Demon King's wrath, strengthened by absorbing the demonic energy of devildom, surged violently in fierce waves, as though it would consume him from within.
Goooooooh!
Already exhausted, using his wrath on top of that made his mind go blank, as if frozen solid. Enduring with the Ring of Fire, he channeled wrath that was pressuring his body and mind into Heavenly Sword.
Crackle! Crackle! Crackle!
The space around Heavenly Drive twisted and split open lengthwise. Due to the condensation of such immense power, dimensional rifts were naturally occurring.
‘Hold on.’
Just gripping Heavenly Drive made cold sweat run down his back.
He had fought endlessly, and having used Sword Field Creation twice, both his body and mind were in shambles.
‘Endure. Rensia is watching….’
The urge to give up swelled within him, but he endured, recalling Rensia’s face as she pleaded with him to protect her younger siblings even as she lay dying.
Kyaaaaaaaagh!
Kiiiiiiiiiih!
Sensing his attempt to close the gate, the surrounding demonic creatures and demons lunged at him.
‘I have to ignore them.’
If he scattered the energy gathered in Heavenly Drive now, he wouldn't be able to close that gate. Thinking he would endure with his body, he took one more step towards the gate.
However, the excited monsters and demons did not strike him.
Paaaaaaang!
From the ground, Saintess Olga and Karoon unleashed their holy power and sword strikes, holding back the demons that had been closing in on him.
“Hurry up!”
Olga spat out the cigarette she had been biting. The black blood staining its tip made it clear that she, too, was pushing herself beyond her limits.
“Do not stop.”
Karoon, even while holding back the resurrected Black King and the high-ranking demons, shielded Raon. His body bore more than just a few deep wounds, yet his expression remained composed.
"Thank you."
Raon bowed his head to the two and tightened his grip on Heavenly Drive. He swung his sword, not at the gate to the devildom, but as if he were slicing through the blackened sky itself.
Azure Sky Sword.
Azure Sky’s Judgment.
The descending blade carried the wrath of the heavens. A terrifying surge of energy rippled outward, as if it intended to erase everything in its path, wiping out all the demonic creatures in the vicinity.
Kuwaaaaaaah!
The sword strike, connecting fire and frost through wrath, tore through the thick wall of demonic energy and crashed toward the gate to the devildom.
Kwaddeudeudeuk!
The gate of devildom, which had been endlessly increasing its range, stopped for the first time. Under the weight of the enraged sword strike, the gate that had been opened like a demon's maw slowly began to crack.
‘Just a little more!’
The gate's resistance was beyond anything he had imagined.
It felt like trying to cut down a massive zelkova tree with a razor-thin saw. His grip was tearing apart, and the pain in his arm felt as if it might be ripped from its socket, but he kept swinging his sword.
Tzzzzzzzzzzzzzzk!
The gate to the devildom resisted like a living being, gathering more demonic energy, but before the overwhelming wrath surging through Raon’s blade, it could do nothing but yield.
The massive gate that covered the sky was split wide.
"Now!"
His head was spinning so much that he felt like collapsing on the spot, and his wrist felt on the verge of shattering, but he knew this was the moment to sever the gate. Clenching his teeth, he swung Heavenly Drive downward.
Tzzzzzzzzzzzzzzk!
The gate, as if desperately clinging to life, continued to spew out demonic energy. But the momentum had already shifted, and there was no turning back. As the gate began to slowly close, the demons emerging from it also started to shrink in size.
"Stop him! Stop that bastard!"
"Kiaaaaaaah!"
"Raon Zieghart!"
The demonized humans and demons, unable to even fathom the possibility of the gate closing, let out frenzied screams as they charged toward him.
"Protect Raon!"
"Do not let them reach him!"
"Stop them, even if it costs your life!"
The allied forces, coughing up blood, ran forward to intercept the demons, shielding Raon with their own bodies.
Kugugugugu!
The battle between Raon and the gate to the devildom was just as intense as the desperate and brutal war raging below.
We're almost there!
Wrath struck Raon's shoulder, urging him to hold on until the end.
"Kraaaaaagh!"
With a roar that sounded almost beastly, Raon prepared to cut down the last remnants of the gate—
Wuuuuuuung!
From beside the gate, a pitch-black figure cloaked in a long black robe suddenly emerged. It was the Black Tower’s master, the one Chamber had dragged away.
[You dare stand in my way until the end!]
The Black Tower’s master had no head, his chest was hollowed out, and yet, he was still alive, reaching toward Raon with his hand.
Paaaaang!
A terrifying surge of demonic energy shot from his fingertips, aiming to kill.
‘I can block it. But if I do, I won’t have enough power left to close the gate.’
Right now, Raon was pouring every ounce of strength into destroying the gate. If he let his aura waver, he would fail to sever the demonic energy and risk breaking his sword.
‘I have to trust them.’
This wasn’t a battle he could win alone.
He put his faith in Chamber, the one who had inflicted those wounds on the Black Tower’s master, and focused entirely on cutting down the gate.
Wuuuuuuung!
Just as he ignored the incoming attack and swung his sword downward, a brilliant blue light flashed from the right.
Paaaaang!
A mature-looking woman wearing a short robe appeared, her long red hair flowing down to her waist. Her golden eyes gleamed as she effortlessly erased the Black Tower master’s attack in an instant.
"Uaaaaaaah!"
Raon let out a roar and swung Heavenly Drive with all his might, ensuring that the Black Tower’s master would not interfere again.
Chiaaaaaang!
The blade struck the ground, sending red and blue flashes streaking through the blackened sky, filled with demonic energy.
"Haaah…."
Raon, struggling to keep his balance, slowly lifted his gaze.
‘The gate….’
The massive gate that had covered the sky had been split in half and was now frozen over with silver frost.
However, a very small space, just enough for one human to enter, remained untouched by the wrath-filled strike, alive and breathing.
‘Did I fail?’
Even after pouring all his aura and wrath into the strike, he hadn’t completely destroyed the gate. The throbbing pain in his head grew unbearable, making him want to collapse and give up everything.
Look properly.
Wrath shook his head, his voice calm.
‘Look properly?’
Following Wrath’s gaze, Raon turned his eyes toward the gate.
Chiiiiik!
The silver frost was still slowly descending, sealing off what remained of the gate. The demons outside watched in shock, their hands frozen in hesitation as they stared at the frost infused with Wrath’s wrath.
If we just hold our ground, the gate will eventually be sealed.
Wrath nodded.
Of course, that bastard needs to be dealt with first
His gaze turned to the Black Tower’s master, who stood in front of the gate as if guarding it.
However, Raon’s eyes weren’t on him.
His focus was on Chamber, who stood in front of him.
"Lady Chamber."
Chamber had returned—not as the young girl she had been, but as a fully grown woman. She was taller now, her once-short red hair cascading to her waist. A breathtaking beauty, but more than that, her magical power felt significantly stronger.
"Are you alright?"
Rather than being impressed, Raon was more concerned about whether she had pushed herself too far.
"I'm fine."
Chamber smiled and shook her head as if to dismiss his worries. But the slight tremble of her lips betrayed the truth, she was struggling to stay on her feet.
"If you still have the strength to talk, focus on killing him."
She raised her hand and pointed at the Black Tower’s master, who was still standing before the gate.
‘The Black Tower’s master….’
Despite losing his head and having a hole pierced through the left side of his chest, the Black Tower’s master remained standing, guarding what little remained of the gate to the devildom.
Despite having lost two of the most vital points in a human body, he refused to die. It was as if he had become a grim reaper, one who could even defy death itself.
‘Is the effects of the Silent Spirit World working on him too?’
No.
Perhaps because the gate was closing, his wounds showed no signs of regenerating. Instead, his body remained frozen in its current state.
"The gate is closing. That puts us at an advantage. Let’s finish this quickly."
Raon nodded and raised Heavenly Drive toward the Black Tower’s master.
"Yeah. Let’s put an end to this tiresome fight."
Chamber wiped the dried black blood from her lips and brought her hands together.
"This time, I’ll erase him completely."
Focusing the wavering mana into her fingertips, she chanted.
"Ultimate Spell—Fracture of the Void."
With her incantation, the space before her stretched and tore apart.
Wuuuuuuung!
Her spell, capable of tearing through space itself, surged forward, aiming to erase both the the gate and the Black Tower’s master entirely.
But then, from above, a radiant golden light cascaded down.
Fwaaaaaah!
A brilliant, holy glow twisted the flow of Chamber’s magic, unraveling it, and at the last moment, saved the Black Tower’s master’s life.
Gooooooh.
Above the distorted space, white feathers fluttered as a figure descended, adorned with a golden crown. It was an angel. She had blocked Chamber’s ultimate spell.
"You are severely wounded."
With a gentle motion of her hand, the Black Tower’s master’s severed head regrew, and the hole in his chest vanished as if it had never existed.
‘What…?’
Of all beings, an angel was the least likely to associate with the Black Tower’s master. Yet, she had not only saved him but also healed his injuries. It made no sense.
'Wait a minute, could that angel be…'
Karoon had said that he met a woman with a strange energy inside the tower. He said she revived immediately after being killed, and it seemed that this was that angel.
Celestial? She gives off the energy of a high-ranking angel.
Wrath muttered, narrowing his eyes as he observed her.
But… something about her feels different from the angels the King of Essence knows.
Wrath narrowed his eyes, just as he had when evaluating Zircon, noting that she was different from an ordinary angel.
"Haa…"
The Black Tower’s master let out a sigh of relief as he ran his hand over his newly restored head.
"That was truly close."
He wiped the sweat from his palm and curled his lips into a smirk.
"Damn it…"
Chamber bit her lip hard enough to draw blood, her frustration evident at having her attack blocked.
"It's fine," Raon said, stepping beside Chamber and shook his head.
"His wounds have healed, but his demonic energy hasn’t. We can still win."
Although the Black Tower’s master had regained his head and chest, his demonic energy had not recovered. He was in worse condition than Raon himself.
"If we just take care of that angel, it’s over."
Raon narrowed his eyes, staring at the golden-crowned angel hovering above the Black Tower’s master.
"……."
The angel simply gazed back at them with a faint, unreadable smile. She had protected the Black Tower’s master but showed no hostility toward Raon or Chamber.
"Who is that angel?"
Chamber, wary, began forming a new spell.
"Do you know about the Birthstone of Origin?"
The Black Tower’s master raised his newly regenerated right hand and pulled out a light-green gemstone. It resembled an emerald but radiated an unusual, mysterious energy.
"The Birthstone of Origin contains beings that are entirely different from what we know. The Peridot of July holds an angel that isn’t like an angel. And the Zircon of December holds a demon that isn’t like a demon."
"Zircon? Don’t tell me…"
"That’s right. This is Zircon."
As soon as he revealed it, a single black hand, belonging to the demon that had once been slain by Raon, suddenly rose onto his shoulder.
"The Birthstone of Origin…"
Chamber’s lips trembled as if she recognized the term. Her face turned pale, stiffening in shock.
"It’s time for you to accept your fate."
"Of course."
As the Black Tower’s master raised the Birthstone of Origin into the air, the angel known as Peridot of July knelt before him.
"Become one with me."
He grasped the angel Peridot’s hand and turned his gaze toward the demon Zircon, at that moment, the floating Birthstone of Origin, Zircon, moved on its own, falling directly toward Raon’s head.
"W-What?"
"Zircon!"
Raon instinctively caught the gemstone, his expression filled with confusion, while the Black Tower’s master stared at him in shock, his eyes wide with disbelief.
Wuuuuuung!
From within the yellow-brown gemstone, the demon known as Zircon of December finally emerged, his gaze shifting toward the distant Black Tower’s master.
"Zircon! What are you doing?! I am your master!"
"You are not worthy."
Zircon of December ignored the Black Tower’s master’s furious screams and instead walked toward Raon.
"The one I am meant to serve… is him."
Without a trace of hesitation, Zircon knelt before Raon and bowed his head.
"Raon Zieghart!"
The Black Tower’s master let out a furious shriek, veins bulging in his eyes as his final plan collapsed before him.
