The Reincarnated Assassin is a Genius Swordsman 921
Chapter 921
Crack!
Raon clenched his molars as he stared at the Black Tower's master, who now seemed to have become the darkness itself.
‘That was dangerous.’
The moment the Black Tower’s master broke through the ceiling and descended, an overwhelming surge of demonic energy had pressed down on his entire body.
Under normal circumstances, he shouldn't have been able to move even a finger. However, Wrath’s wrath steadied his mind and granted him the strength to move his body.
‘Thanks to that, I was able to kill the Demon Holy Lightning Garet.’
The Black Tower's master had been so confident in his own demonic energy that he hadn't gone all out when launching his attack.
Like an elephant stomping on an ant without a second thought, he had merely swung his hand, shrouded in demonic energy, without exerting his full power.
The Demon Holy Lightning Garet, trusting in the Black Tower's master completely, hadn’t attempted a full defense either, he had merely retreated instead.
‘That was their fatal mistake.’
Raon took advantage of their carelessness, deflecting the Black Tower’s master’s hand before beheading Garet. If they had not let their guard down, the fallen head might not have been Garet’s.
“Ah….”
The Black Tower’s master did not look at Raon but instead trembled as he stared at Garet’s lifeless body. The grief emanating from him seemed to make the entire tower sink into even deeper darkness.
Garet had been his butler since childhood—it was clear that a deep bond had formed between them over the years.
‘So that’s why….’
Raon tightened his grip on his divine sword as he fixed his gaze on the Black Tower’s master.
‘That’s why he came down here before completing his spell.’
From what he could sense, the Black Tower’s master hadn’t yet finished the spell he had been preparing.
He had forcefully broken through the ceiling to prevent Garet’s death. But now that he had failed, the emotional shock must have been immense.
‘Then it would be best to provoke him further.’
No matter how strong-willed Transcenders were, they were not immune to the pain of losing a close companion or loved one.
Raon hadn’t expected the Black Tower’s master, one of the worst demonized humans, to grieve so deeply over the death of his butler, but this was an opening worth exploiting.
You better be careful.
Wrath narrowed his eyes as he scanned the Black Tower’s master from head to toe.
That bastard may be twisted in many ways, but his power is the real deal.
He shook his head as though the fact Raon had deflected the first attack was pure luck.
‘I know. But I can’t let this chance slip away.’
Raon bit the tip of his tongue and stepped toward the Black Tower’s master.
"Even a demonized human like you has emotions?"
He curled his lips as he looked at the trembling Black Tower’s master.
“You trampled on countless lives, yet you grieve for the death of some pathetic trash? That’s not even laughable.”
Raon gritted his teeth as he recalled Rensia, who, even as she lay dying, pleaded for her younger siblings to be protected.
“A lowly worm like you doesn’t deserve to grieve. Just die, revealing nothing but your wickedness.”
Just because the Black Tower’s master was capable of feeling sorrow, that didn’t mean Raon had to sympathize.
No matter what emotions he harbored, he was evil—nothing more.
“I won’t kill you….”
The Black Tower’s master slowly raised his gaze.
His crimson eyes burned with flames of hatred as they glared down at Raon.
“I will ensnare everyone you’ve ever known in hell’s infernal flames—trapping them in pain far worse than death.”
His voice slithered out like a curse as he reached forward.
His hand, shrouded in writhing darkness, descended upon Raon’s head.
“Before that happens, your head will fall first.”
Raon bit his lip as he stared at the Black Tower’s master’s hand, slowly descending toward him.
‘There’s no way to dodge this.’
It wasn’t that his body wouldn’t move, it was that no matter which direction he moved, he couldn’t see a way to evade it.
The flow of demonic energy was on an entirely different level from the first attack.
"Raon!"
A trembling voice broke through the tension, Karoon, having regained his senses, forced his shaking hands to move, swinging his sword with all his might.
Fwoosh!
His desperate sword strike pierced through the Black King Sigel’s defense and slashed at the darkness shrouding the Black Tower’s master.
Of course, the Black Tower’s master’s shroud of darkness did not waver, but that alone was enough to break his focus for a moment.
Boom!
Raon held his breath and lowered his stance. He drove the flames of his divine sword and the frost of his demonic sword into the approaching hand of the Black Tower’s master.
‘If I try to run carelessly, I’ll get caught. I need to go all out!’
If he couldn’t escape perfectly, then the best defense was a full-force counterattack.
Now wasn’t the time to retreat, breaking through with everything he had was the only option.
Kuwaaaaaaa!
With the divine sword, he unleashed the Azure Sky Sword.
With the demonic sword, he unleashed the Heavenly Lightning Cultivation.
Lightning descended from the heavens, crackling across both blades, creating a faint distortion in the Black Tower’s master’s darkness.
Vwooom!
Without missing that tiny opening, Raon used the Supreme Harmony Steps and moved beside Karoon.
“…Thank you.”
Without looking back at Karoon, Raon offered his gratitude.
“That wasn’t me. Focus on what’s in front of you.”
Karoon waved his hand dismissively, saying there was no need for pointless gratitude.
“No. If you hadn’t helped, I would’ve been caught immediately.”
Raon wasn’t saying this out of false humility, it was the truth. If Karoon hadn’t briefly drawn the Black Tower’s master’s attention, Raon would have been swallowed by the darkness and killed on the spot.
“You rats sure know how to band together.”
The Black Tower’s master lazily flicked his fingertip.
In an instant, jet-black flames surged up, forming a cage of black fire, trapping Raon and Karoon inside.
Kyaaaaaah!
Raon slashed at the black flames with his divine sword, but the cage merely quivered, refusing to break apart.
“Ugh….”
Karoon unleashed a sword strike that had reached the level of Transcendence, yet the black flames remained unscathed.
You can’t cut it like that.
Wrath slightly raised his brow as he gazed at the black flames.
This is not a simple manifestation of demonic energy. It’s magic.
He shook his head, telling Raon to analyze it properly and erase it.
"I won’t kill you."
The Black Tower’s master raised his fingers, and the cage of black fire began to shrink rapidly, closing in on them.
Ssssssshhhhh!
The Black Dragon Robe began to burn, and the searing heat seeped through their uniforms, scorching their skin.
It truly felt as if hell’s flames had been summoned into reality.
“I’ll let you watch as your loved ones die in agony.”
The Black Tower’s master exuded an overwhelming killing intent, as if he truly meant to bring all of Raon’s loved ones here and kill them before his eyes.
‘Analyze it properly and erase it?’
Wrath wasn’t the type to spew nonsense.
If he said to observe carefully and erase it, it meant there was a way to break free.
Wuuuuuuuuung.
Raon activated the Evil Eyes of Wrath.
‘I can see it.’
He could read the flow of demonic energy within the black flames, his eyes clearly traced the exact points that needed to be cut.
‘But I can’t sever it like this.’
Focusing on the frost emanating from his demonic sword, Raon channeled wrath, the power that overpowered demonic energy.
No matter how much demonic energy had been gathered, it couldn’t withstand wrath.
Wuuuuuuung!
Raon poured all the wrath he had accumulated into the frost-covered demonic sword and unleashed the Crimson Slash.
Shhhhraaak!
A silvery blade flickered like a fleeting light, slicing through the pitch-black flames and splitting the cage that had trapped him and Karoon in half.
“…What…?”
The Black Tower’s master’s eyes widened in shock, it was clear that he had never imagined his black flame cage could be destroyed.
"Now!"
Raon gestured to Karoon and launched himself forward.
"Hmph!"
Even before Karoon could fully register the signal, he had already sensed it and leaped out of the collapsing black flame cage before it could reform.
“…Haah.”
Raon clicked his tongue as he stared at his demonic sword, still burning with white-hot flames.
‘Good thing we’re in the Black Tower.’
The Black Tower’s demonic energy didn’t just empower the demonized humans—it strengthened him as well.
If he had been anywhere else, breaking free from that cage would have been impossible
“What did you just do?”
Karoon narrowed his eyes, unable to comprehend what had happened.
“It was just luck. But right now, we should—mmph!”
Before Raon could finish saying that they needed to focus on dodging, a tiny spark clinging to his black dragon coat suddenly flared up, engulfing his entire body in black flames.
“Urgh…!”
Karoon, too, was surrounded as the sparks remaining on the hem of his uniform flared to life, wrapping him from head to toe.
“You think you’ve escaped?”
The Black Tower’s master let out a mocking chuckle and shook his head.
As his eyes narrowed, the black flames surrounding them burned even hotter and more fiercely.
“Ugh….”
Raon bit his lip, staring at the dark fire that veiled his vision. With a mere spark no bigger than a fingernail, the Black Tower’s master had created a prison that could entrap Transcenders. This was no ordinary magic.
‘This is dangerous.’
Unlike the previous cage, there wasn’t even space to swing his sword. The heat was at least twice as intense, making it hard to breathe.
“You will never escape this place, even in death.”
The Black Tower’s master clenched his fist, declaring that he would let them experience hell on earth.
Fwoooosh!
Just as the thick, chain-like black flames were about to sear Raon and Karoon’s skin, a brilliant blue light burst from Raon’s inner pocket.
Kyaaaaaaang!
The candy inside his pocket shattered, and at that very moment, the descending black flames split apart, creating a rift in space itself.
Chiiiizzz!
From the torn space, a girl stepped out, her oversized witch’s hat tilted slightly.
It was Chamber, the Archmage of Eternal Flame, who had been waiting outside the tower.
“Should an old man really be picking on kids?”
Chamber chuckled and snapped her fingers. At once, the black flames imprisoning Raon and Karoon fluttered down like sheets of black paper.
It didn’t feel like magic, it was more like a sleight of hand, an illusion made real.
“Your opponent is right here.”
Tipping her chin, she beckoned toward the Black Tower’s master.
Woooong!
As Chamber gripped her staff, a majestic teal light enveloped her entire body.
That brilliant radiance pierced through the tower’s darkness, erupting like a blue sun in a world drenched in demonic energy.
“You wretched little wench….”
The Black Tower’s master didn’t just glare at Chamber, his gaze burned with hatred as he looked past her, locking onto Raon.
“Before I tear your tiny body to shreds, bring that brat to me.”
He stretched out his hand, his demonic energy surging forth.
Kuwaaaaaaaang!
Despite being far stronger than before, the Black Tower’s master’s magic still failed to pierce through Chamber’s radiance, its flow disrupted and scattered.
“You’ve lost. Our ill-fated ties will end here.”
Chamber’s lips curled into a confident smirk, declaring that today, she would erase the Black Tower.
“Yes. This will be the end.”
The Black Tower’s master let out a chilling smile and nodded.
“The end for you.”
He clasped his hands together and twisted them, and the entire tower, no, the entire world, began to distort under the weight of demonic energy.
“Even this much demonic energy is more than enough to kill all of you.”
At his fingertips, the swirling darkness ripped open the sky, revealing an abyss of endless black.
"Black Spirit World."
* * *
Haaah…
Burren wiped the blood trickling down his forehead and let out a deep sigh.
“We really almost died there.”
He shook his head as he looked at the lifeless demonized human, whose heart had burst apart.
Thanks to the entire Light Wind Palace working together, they had managed to defeat a high-ranking Floor Overseer, but the battle had drained an immense amount of aura and stamina.
As expected of a Floor Overseer of the Black Tower, it had been an incredibly difficult fight.
“No kidding.”
Martha leaned against the wall, nodding.
“That little bastard was disgustingly strong.”
She frowned as she looked at her hand gripping her sword.
“…I’m exhausted.”
Runaan, bent over, tried to catch her breath.
“But we have to keep moving….”
She pressed her lips together tightly, her gaze shifting toward the ceiling above them.
“Yeah, we do.”
Mark Goetten nodded as he flicked the blood off his saber.
“Subordinates should handle subordinates.”
In battles between powerful opponents, even the smallest differences could determine victory or defeat.
They needed to move up and assist Raon so he wouldn’t have to divide his attention elsewhere.
“L-Let’s go….”
Despite his entire body trembling from the overwhelming demonic energy above, Dorian still urged them forward.
“You sure you’re okay…? You look terrified.”
Krein chuckled dryly as he glanced at Dorian.
“I’m not okay. But we still have to go.”
Dorian gagged slightly, his face pale, but his determination remained firm.
“Then let’s move. I’ll take the lead, keep your breathing steady and follow my pace.”
Trevin nodded and turned toward the door leading to the next floor.
“W-Wait a moment!”
Yua stepped in front of Trevin, shaking her head.
“Something’s off…”
“What do you mean ‘off’?”
“The tower… it’s crying.”
Yua’s lips trembled as she spoke, her voice filled with unease.
“What are you talking about?”
Martha quickly approached her, gripping her shoulders.
“The walls… the ground… everything is shaking in fear…”
As tears welled in Yua’s eyes, the floor rumbled violently, and the ceiling began to collapse.
Kugugugugu!
The tower’s walls, which had remained unscathed even under Raon’s sword, shattered like paper.
Beyond the crumbling exterior, an immense vortex of demonic energy twisted in the air.
Kiaaaaaaaaah!
Even the massive demonic creatures that had been roaming above the Black Tower immediately began to retreat, as if they too feared what was happening.
“We have to get out of here! The tower is going to collapse!”
Yua's voice rang out in urgency.
Yua wasn’t sensing it through aura perception, she could hear the tower itself breaking down, as if it were screaming in agony.
“…….”
The Light Wind Palace swordsmen exchanged glances before nodding in agreement.
Over the years, they had come to trust each other deeply, and even the words of the youngest among them carried weight.
“Everyone, get outside the tower!”
At Burren’s command, the Light Wind Palace swordsmen threw themselves through the shattered walls, diving into the open air beyond.
Fwoooooooosh!
As the fierce winds roared around them, they looked up, and saw it.
A colossal darkness was consuming this world.
The sheer scale of the demonic energy was so immense that it warped their perception, making it seem almost smaller than it was.
“What… the hell is that?”
Martha’s jaw tightened as she stared at the all-encompassing blackness, watching it devour everything.
“Th-That’s what the Black Tower’s master was preparing?”
She inhaled sharply, her breath ragged in disbelief at the sheer scale of the magic before them.
Kwadudududududuk!
The swirling demonic energy completely ground the tower they had just been in to dust, unleashing an even more powerful shockwave.
"…If we had stayed there, we’d be dead for sure."
Krein let out a sharp inhale, his chest tightening.
Had they ignored Yua’s warning and remained inside, they wouldn’t have even left behind a corpse—they would have been completely erased.
“B-but what do we do now? If we just fall from here, we’ll die or end up crippled…”
Dorian swallowed nervously as he looked down at the bloodied battlefield littered with demonic creature corpses.
“…I’ll take care of that.”
Hearing the clear, lighthearted voice that seemed utterly unsuited to the tense situation, they turned to see Chamber, a candy stick in her mouth.
"La-Lady Chamber!"
As she flashed a playful smile and nodded, the free-falling swordsmen suddenly felt their descent slow, as if an invisible hand was gently guiding them toward the ground below.
"Haaah…"
Burren let out a long exhale, dropping to his knees the moment they landed.
"Is… is it over?"
He lifted his gaze toward Chamber, as if seeking confirmation.
"No."
But the answer didn’t come from Chamber.
It came from Raon.
"This is just the beginning."
"What do you mean… the beginning?"
Krein blinked, as if unsure what Raon meant.
“It has to be the start.”
Raon pushed the blood-soaked hair from his forehead, his gaze fixed on the black sky that had swallowed up the Black Tower.
"Because the gate to the devildom has opened."
