The Reincarnated Assassin is a Genius Swordsman 890

 Chapter 890

As soon as Raon heard that the Warring Steel Division had sent an emergency reinforcements request, he rushed straight to the audience chamber.

“I greet the head of house.”

He knelt before Glenn, who had risen from the throne and was gazing out the window.

“Rise.”

Glenn slowly turned his back and gestured for him to stand.

“Thank you.”

Raon bowed his head once more before rising to his feet.

“I heard that the Warring Steel Division has sent an emergency reinforcements request.”

“It seems the Shadow Agents’ master told you first.”

Glenn nodded calmly as he looked at Chad, who was standing behind Raon.

“As you’ve heard, an emergency reinforcements request arrived not long ago. While they haven’t grown as much as the Light Wind Division, the Warring Steel Division has also completed difficult missions and achieved significant growth, so it’s rare for them to request reinforcements first.”

He lowered his brows as he held a letter that seemed to have been sent by the division leader, Trevin.

“That means the mission must be quite difficult.”

Raon let out a heavy breath.

“The mission assigned to the Warring Steel Division wasn’t difficult.”

Glenn exhaled briefly and shook his head.

"What mission was the Warring Steel Division assigned?"

“Reconnaissance.”

“Reconnaissance….”

Raon's eyes widened at the Warring Steel Division's mission, which was different from what he had expected.

'Then did something serious happen during reconnaissance?'

Reconnaissance missions only involved patrolling Zieghart’s territory. They were tedious and time-consuming but not particularly dangerous.

He felt uneasy, wondering what had happened for them to send an emergency reinforcements request.

“If you travel northeast beyond Zieghart’s territory, there’s a nomadic village called Bodry. It was already quite large, but as people who lost their homes and villages in the war gathered there, it has grown even bigger.”

Glenn suddenly brought up Bodry village, which was not part of Zieghart's territory.

“Yes, I know of it.”

Raon nodded, recalling that he had seen Bodry village from afar before.

“The Warring Steel Division had completed their reconnaissance and was returning to the house when the villagers requested their help in stopping a monster attack.”

"The division leader must have accepted their request without hesitation."

Raon let out a faint smile as he pictured Trevin’s face.

‘Of course he would go.’

Even when Raon had been weak and low in status, Trevin had always treated him as an equal swordsman instead of looking down on him. Even though the request had come from nomads who weren’t part of Zieghart, he had readily agreed to help.

“Yes. He asked permission first, so I told him to do as he wished.”

Glenn smiled faintly, noting that Trevin had sent a report beforehand.

“Head of house….”

“If that village disappears, the nomads will have nothing left.”

He nodded as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.

“That’s true.”

Raon noticed the warmth flickering in Glenn’s otherwise cold eyes and slightly raised the corners of his lips.

“The initial report stated that small groups of monsters kept appearing. Since they weren’t that strong, Trevin said they would handle them and return. However…”

Glenn put down the first letter Trevin had sent and unfolded another one that had just arrived.

“They’re now saying that monsters are endlessly emerging from land dyed in purple.”

He furrowed his brows deeply.

“No matter how many they kill, they keep coming, and now the monsters have pushed all the way to the village. At this rate, the nomads’ home will be completely destroyed, so they requested help.”

After reading the letter aloud, Glenn folded it in half.

“Monsters emerging from land dyed in purple….”

Raon narrowed his eyes as he stared at the folded letter in Glenn’s hand.

‘It must be one of three things.’

The birth of a new monster king, the Black Tower, or Eden.

It was possible that a new king had been born, attracting monsters to that location, or that Eden or the Black Tower was behind this incident.

There was no way to determine the cause without seeing it firsthand.

“Technically, this matter has nothing to do with Zieghart. Even if I told the Warring Steel Division to return, it wouldn’t be our problem.”

Glenn spoke in a cold voice, explaining the current situation.

“Even so, will you still go?”

He lowered his heavy gaze.

“Yes, I will.”

Raon nodded without a hint of hesitation.

“It may not be Zieghart’s concern now, but it could become ours soon. On top of that, there’s a chance that the Five Kings are behind this, so it’s best to prevent it in advance.”

Even if the incident was happening outside Zieghart’s territory, it could eventually become their problem. Stopping it before it grew out of control was the right course of action.

"The Warring Steel Division’s leader wanted his division to come under the Light Wind Palace, and now he's already taking an opportunity to prove himself. I like it."

Raon bowed his head, asking Glenn to assign him the mission.

“I see.”

Glenn’s cold expression softened into a warm smile, as if pleased with Raon’s response.

“As you said, it’s best to cut down dangerous threats before they grow.”

He nodded in agreement and lowered his hand.

“Technically, I could assign this mission to the Central Martial Palace, but since the Warring Steel Division will soon be part of the Light Wind Palace, it makes the most sense for you to go.”

Glenn explained his reasoning with a faint smile.

“I feel the same way. Thank you for calling me first.”

Raon placed a hand over his chest and bowed his head.

‘It’s a perfect opportunity.’

With the Warring Steel Division becoming part of the Light Wind Palace nearly certain, this seemed like a good opportunity to assess the skills of the new subordinates.

“As the head of house has said, the Light Wind Division will take on this emergency reinforcements mission.”

He formally accepted the mission, bowing deeply.

“This is an emergency reinforcements request, so there’s no need to report back to me separately. Depart as soon as you’re ready.”

Glenn waved his hand, gesturing for him to leave.

"I'm also departing in two days, you're as busy as I am."

Sheryl tilted her chin slightly as she noted that they wouldn’t see each other for a while.

“Stay safe.”

She waved her slender hand, saying see you later.

“Huhuhu.”

Roenn chuckled as he stepped forward.

"Division leader, you probably don't need any advice. I just hope you return safely."

He bowed his head slightly, as if entrusting the Warring Steel Division's safety to him.

“Then.”

Raon bid farewell to Glenn, Roenn, and Sheryl before leaving the audience chamber.

“There was a time when I used to worry about that back.”

Roenn shook his head briefly as he looked at the door Raon had exited through.

“But now, he’s nothing but reassuring. No matter what the Warring Steel Division is facing, I’m sure he’ll bring them back safely.”

He chuckled, saying he never imagined Raon’s back would become this reliable.

“I feel the same way.”

Sheryl clasped her right hand over her left wrist and nodded.

“During our last mission, when Raon stood in front of me, I felt like I was looking at the head of house. As if no matter the enemy, he would never lose.”

She smiled faintly, saying there was no need to worry about the Warring Steel Division.

“Ahem!”

Glenn seemed pleased with Sheryl and Roenn's words praising Raon, slightly moving his ankles as if dancing.

“He’s not quite at that level yet, but at least he can handle whatever’s thrown at him.”

Although his words sounded modest, he couldn’t hide his bright, beaming expression.

“When I was sparring with him a while ago, he was able to keep moving even after taking several consecutive strikes of my lightning energy. He still has areas to refine, but with more experience, there won’t be many warriors above him.”

Glenn clicked his tongue, noting that, as of now, the only ones above Raon were the heads of the Five Kings, the Five Demons, and the Five Divine Orders.

“Head of house.”

The Shadow Agents master, Chad, approached the platform and bowed his head.

“On my way to call for Sir Raon, another report arrived.”

Chad, keeping his head lowered, pulled a white envelope from his pocket and held it out.

"It's a letter from the agent monitoring the Divine Five Orders."

“…The Five Divine Orders?”

As soon as Glenn read the letter Chad handed him, the warmth in his eyes faded.

As soon as Glenn read the letter Chad handed him, the warmth in his gaze vanished.
A chill befitting the title of the Destructive King of the North began to radiate around him.

"So, in the end, they're choosing the foolish path?"

*   *   *

As soon as Raon left the audience chamber, he headed straight for the fifth training ground.

The swordsmen of the Light Wind Division had also heard Chad’s words, so they had all remained in the training ground, waiting.

Raon stepped onto the platform, meeting the solemn faces of his swordsmen.

Burren, Martha, and Runaan stood firmly in front of their respective teams, while Mark Goetten stood at the edge of the platform with his hands clasped together.

"As you've all heard…."

Raon looked down at the swordsmen with calm eyes and opened his lips.

"The Warring Steel Division has sent a request for reinforcements. They are more than capable of handling most situations on their own, so the fact that they've sent an emergency request means this mission will undoubtedly be dangerous."

He nodded slightly, emphasizing that this would not be an easy mission.

"However, when we were in danger, the Warring Steel Division did not hesitate. They ran to us without looking back. Now, it’s our turn to help them."

Placing his hand on Heavenly Drive, Raon declared that it was time to repay their debt.

"You're just stating the obvious. Even if that weren't the case, we’d still have to go!"

Martha shouted, saying that as members of the same house, it was only natural to help, nodding vigorously.

"It’s surprising to hear you talk about the house."

Burren smirked at her.

"But you're right. No matter what situation a comrade is in, it’s our duty to help."

He clenched his fist, prepared to put his life on the line if necessary.

"Trevin… when they said Raon was dead, he cried a lot…"

Runaan lowered her head as she recalled how deeply saddened Trevin had been when he went missing.

"Now it's our turn to help…."

She hugged the Snow Flower Sword, freshly reforged, tightly against her chest, determined to aid them.

“Is it in the east? Over there, you can get the Hospen trees, they’re both sturdy and flexible. Great for supplies!”

Dorian grinned, already thinking about gathering supplies along the way.

"You’ve been getting more obsessed with supplies lately."

Krein shook his head, unable to understand him.

"There's a demon who only takes and never brings anything back, so I have to grab what I can when I get the chance!"

Dorian stomped his foot, throwing shade at someone.

"Sir Mark Goetten."

Raon ignored Dorian’s grumbling and turned to Mark Goetten.

"It looks like we’ll have to forge your new saber after we return."

"Of course."

Mark Goetten smiled faintly.

"Rather, it's a good thing. I wanted to experience actual combat after so much sparring, and this seems like a good opportunity."

He nodded casually, looking completely unfazed. His composure seemed to have deepened even more.

“Then, once you’ve finished your preparations, gather here by evening.”

"Yes!"

The Light Wind Division responded eagerly and rushed off to their quarters and homes.

Krr….

Wrath let out a low exclamation as he watched the Light Wind Division leave.

They’ve really grown a lot. He guesses you do get attached to people if you’re around them long enough. Not bad.

He nodded, satisfied that the Light Wind swordsmen had grown well thanks to his teachings.

‘Well, you’re not entirely wrong.’

Raon chuckled as he nodded along.

‘But why are you so quiet today?’

What are you talking about? The King of Essence has always been a man of few words!

Wrath lifted his chin, saying that his nickname was the Silent Demon King.

‘That’s the biggest nonsense I’ve ever heard….’

W-What? How dare you call the King of Essence’s nickname nonsense!

Wrath flailed his hands in protest.

‘Normally you’d be screaming about how you hate camping food by now. But you’re surprisingly calm this time.’

Hmph. Since you kept your promise, the King of Essence must endure as well.

Wrath flicked his hand, saying that since Raon had fulfilled his promise to let him eat whatever he wanted for ten days, he had to hold back, too.

‘Wow, you actually thought about something like that?’

Raon patted Wrath’s head, offering genuine praise.

Hmph. The King of Essence is the monarch of devildom! What he gives and takes are blades!

Though he tried to act annoyed, Wrath’s face turned red, clearly pleased by the compliment.

But shouldn’t you be worrying about someone else rather than me?

‘What do you mean?’

Raon tilted his head, looking at Wrath.

Your sister. She’s just discovered the fun of learning swordsmanship from you. She’ll be overjoyed to hear you’re leaving!

Wrath grinned mischievously, already imagining Sia’s expression.

‘Ah….’

Raon swallowed dryly as Sia’s face came to mind.

‘I’m doomed….’

*   *   *

Since this was an emergency reinforcements mission, the entire Light Wind Division had gathered at the fifth training ground before nightfall.

As all the swordsmen stood in perfect formation before the platform, Raon entered through the training ground’s doors.

"Huh?"

Burren’s eyelids twitched as he watched Raon step onto the platform.

"D-Division leader, your hair…."

He let out a dry breath at the sight of Raon’s disheveled blond hair, which was curled up like a bird’s nest.

"Is this sister Sia’s doing?"

Martha chuckled as if she had expected it.

"At least it looks like she didn’t pull at it as much this time."

She waved her hand, saying it wasn’t as bad as before.

"I'm envious…"

Runaan smacked her lips, expressing envy over something unclear.

"As expected of sister Sia! The only one who can put the division leader in his place is sister Sia!"

Dorian exclaimed in satisfaction, thumping his chest.

"I never thought I’d see the division leader get beaten down like this. Right, Sir Gambling Monster?"

Krein turned to the Gambling Monster, amused by the rare sight.

"Ahem…."

The Gambling Monster, who normally would have scoffed, only cleared his throat and averted his gaze, because he, too, was weak against Sia.

"Enough."

Raon brushed his messy blond hair back like Glenn and took his place at the edge of the platform.

"As I said before, this is an emergency reinforcements mission, so there won’t be much time for rest. Be prepared to keep moving without pause."

In the past, he would have had to schedule some breaks, but now every member of the Light Wind Division was a Master, so they could manage with the bare minimum of sleep.

"This may be our last mission as the Light Wind Division, so make sure to give it your all until the end."

Raon met the eyes of each swordsman and nodded.

"Understood!"

Every swordsman stomped their feet, roaring in unison.

"Then, we depart."

Raon stepped down from the platform and walked to the center of the Light Wind swordsmen, who were standing in formation.

The swordsmen he passed followed behind him, forming a shape like a sword.

Even without forming a sword formation, they had reached a level where they naturally reinforced each other's energy. As the Light Wind swordsmen advanced, a heavy yet sharp energy wave accompanied them, built upon the swordsmanship they had honed.

*   *   *

Raon and the Light Wind Division traveled to the edge of the Zieghart territory through a dimensional gate before heading east.

Normally, most places could be reached within a few days using the gate, but since the Warring Steel Division had crossed beyond that range, they had no choice but to push through the night, running without rest.

By limiting their sleep to just two hours and enduring Wrath’s outbursts while eating Nadine bread, Raon and the Light Wind Division managed to reach their destination more than half a day earlier than the time requested by the Warring Steel Division.

Aghhh….

Wrath shook his head, wiping his tongue with his hand.

The King of Essence can endure the lack of sleep, but this Nadine bread is driving him insane! It’s not just tasteless, it’s beyond terrible! How can bread taste like rubber?

He groaned, furiously rubbing his tongue.

‘We’re almost there.’

Raon lightly patted Wrath's head, who was whimpering like a puppy.

‘Once we put out the urgent fire, we'll be able to have a proper meal. Just bear with it.’

Raon himself didn’t mind eating Nadine bread for a lifetime, but since Wrath and the other swordsmen were struggling with it, he decided they should take a proper rest once they reached the village.

‘Still…’

He glanced back at the Light Wind swordsmen climbing the mountain behind him and smiled faintly.

‘They’re holding up well.’

In the past, exhaustion would have been evident on their faces, both physically and mentally. But now, not a single one of them showed signs of it as they steadily ascended the mountain with firm steps.

Even those little brats are keeping up, if they complain about being tired, they might as well drop dead.

Wrath snorted as he looked at Yua and Yulius, whose faces were noticeably brighter than the others.

‘That’s right.’

Yua and Yulius were following closely behind, keeping their expressions bright so they wouldn’t become a burden to their seniors.

Because of those two, the swordsmen couldn’t afford to show any signs of exhaustion.

"Once we cross this mountain, we’ll see the village. Just a little more, hang in there."

Encouraging the Light Wind swordsmen, Raon reached the top of the mountain first.

“Huh…?”

But the nomadic village that should have been visible to the east was nowhere to be seen.

Whooosh!

Where the village should have been, the mountains and grasslands were now engulfed by a vast sea of ominous purple energy.
