The Reincarnated Assassin is a Genius Swordsman 871

 Chapter 871

“Ha…”

Raon let out a dry laugh as he gazed at the floor of the nest, entirely covered in a golden carpet of gold ingots.

‘No wonder there was no empty space.’

Since the ground beneath was completely packed with gold ingots, it was only natural that his aura perception couldn’t detect any hidden treasures.

'He made a floor out of gold ingots and slept on it... unbelievable...'

He truly was on a different level.

Raon himself had amassed enough wealth to last a lifetime, but in front of Matirus' gold-filled nest, it felt insignificant. He was like a firefly beneath the moonlight.

“You’ve gotta be kidding me…”

Martha gasped as she stared at the gold ingots.

“The entire floor was gold? Just how much did he hoard?”

She frowned, unable to comprehend.

“To think I’d ever see the legendary ‘mountain of gold ingots.’ I can’t even begin to calculate how much this is…”

Burren picked up one of the gold ingots, which was about the size of his forearm, and let out a long breath. Even he, who usually treated wealth like stones, seemed impressed.

“How many ice creams is this worth?”

Runaan, seemingly uninterested in the gold ingots themselves, only thought about ice cream. It seemed she missed it a lot, having not eaten any for a few days.

“Ah, not just how many ice creams—it’s enough to buy every bead ice cream shop in the entire continent and still have some left!”

Krein's jaw trembled at the amount, which exceeded anything he could imagine.

Hmph. it's a bit strange for the King of Essence to say this, but…

Wrath shook his head as he watched Runaan licking her lips.

Isn't the ice cream girl a bit weird?

‘….’

Raon chuckled, amazed that Wrath was only realizing this now.

“Heeheeheehee!”

Dorian burst out with a strange laugh as he looked at the gold ingot floor that he had discovered.

“Supplies! It’s a resupply of money! We can fill anything we need!”

His eyes gleamed madly as he began juggling three gold ingots.

“W-Why is everyone going crazy?!”

Krein, pressed against the wall, muttered that there wasn’t a single sane person in the Light Wind division.

“Well then…”

Raon, holding a gold ingot larger than his own head like a club, approached Bobor, the goblin guardian of Matirus.

“Care to explain now?”

His chilling smile made it clear that this gold ingot wouldn’t stay still if Bobor dared to spout nonsense.

“Y-Yes, of course Sir!”

Bobor rolled his eyes nervously before falling to his knees.

“I’m sorry!”

He immediately admitted his wrong and bowed his head. Raon had intended to smash his head if he didn't confess, but he was quick to catch on.

“How far does this floor of gold extend?”

"It... It stretches beneath all the areas where Lord Matirus used to sleep."

Bobor, clearly terrified, answered immediately.

“So it’s laid beneath this entire space…”

Raon whistled as he glanced at the still-intact parts of the ground.

If Bobor's words were true, it meant that there were gold ingots even at the entrance. The sheer scope of the haul brought a smile to his lips.

“What else?”

Raon tossed the gold ingot into the air and caught it, tilting his head.

“Uh…”

Bobor swallowed nervously as Raon’s piercing gaze locked onto him.

'C, can I deceive him?'

Of course, the nest wasn’t just filled with gold ingots.

There were also hidden jewels and treasures, but he didn’t want to hand them over to the human who had killed Matirus.

“I… I…”

Bobor was about to put on the most pitiful expression he could muster and wring his hands when...

“I smell something! This can’t be all!”

The green-haired human flared his nostrils and began sniffing around like a dog.

‘That human!’

That chubby, green-haired human was the monster who had discovered the gold ingots hidden beneath the ground, which even the terrifying blond man could not detect.

Seeing his twisted eyes, Bobor’s heart began to pound as if it were about to be ripped out.

“It’s not the ground…”

Still sniffing, the green-haired man moved away from the ground and began approaching the wall, inch by inch.

His nostrils were heading straight toward Matirus’s secret space.

“It’s definitely around here…”

“Ugh!”

Seeing Dorian’s eyes light up as if on fire, Bobor felt a chill run down his spine.

“It’s… it’s over there!”

Bobor, driven by survival instincts, rushed ahead of Dorian and pointed to Matirus’ warehouse.

"Here is that lizard's warehouse!"

The goblin moved faster than anyone, fueled by the desperation to live.

“Young master! This is the place!”

Dorian looked at the wall that Bobor pointed to and nodded vigorously. He even changed the way he addressed Raon and smacked his lips.

Even the wallet is scary today. Look, his eyes are spinning!

Wrath trembled, seeming to feel fear for Dorian for the first time.

‘I feel it too…’

Raon swallowed as he lowered his gaze and then looked up again.

“That one word, ‘lizard,’ just saved your life.”

“Y-Yes, sir!”

He passed by Bobor and looked at the wall he was pointing at.

'This side is also full.'

The space behind the wall, which was supposed to be a warehouse, was also completely full, so he didn't feel anything particularly strange.

“How did you find it?”

Raon waved at Dorian, puzzled.

“I can smell it. The smell of supplies!”

Dorian muttered something incomprehensible about smelling the smell of supplies.

It seemed like his mind's eye had awakened some peculiar sense.

“Hmm…”

Raon shook his head and then punched the wall.

Kuwaaaang!

His physical abilities had grown so excessively that even a light punch caused the nest’s wall to collapse entirely.

Kugugugugu!

From the falling debris, a cascade of colorful jewels poured out. They fell atop the gold ingots already scattered on the floor, creating an even more brilliant spectacle.

“Th-The walls were completely packed with jewels too?”

“This is ridiculous. That dragon was full of greed.”

Marta and Burren let out hollow laughs, saying they hadn't expected it to be this extent.

“There are swords and weapons too.”

Runaan, uninterested in the jewels or gold, focused on the scattered weapons, her eyes sparkling.

“He acted all high and mighty, but in the end, he was just a lizard no better than a scavenging crow.”

Krein muttered darkly as he kicked at the gold ingots.

"Oh! Is this the legendary lost valax jewel? And this emerald—it’s no ordinary emerald! A dwarf crafted this!"

Dorian, panting heavily, began explaining the treasures no one had asked about.

“With this amount…”

Raon narrowed his eyes, staring at the floor covered in gold ingots and the flood of jewels above it.

‘We won’t need to worry about war supplies.’

It was true that blacksmiths across the continent—or dwarves, for that matter—were often prideful and not easily swayed by money alone. But with this much wealth, he might even be able to buy their pride.

‘Not just the Light Wind division—maybe I could arm the entire Zieghart Swordmasters with swords forged from dragon bones.’

With the corpses of the three dragons and the wealth in this nest, it seemed more than enough to accomplish his plans.

“D-Division leader….”

Dorian stared at Raon, drooling like an addict suffering from withdrawal symptoms.

“…Take it.”

“Yes, sir!”

At Raon’s slight flick of his hand, Dorian’s eyes lit up with joy, and he began pouring gold ingots and jewels into his belly pocket.

“Ehehehehe!”

Dorian's appearance as he shoved in the gold ingots and jewels, emitting a strange laugh, was that of a madman.

“A-Are we just going to leave him like that?”

“He’s definitely lost it…”

“Creepy!”

Even Martha took a step back, unnerved by Dorian’s madness.

“Well then…”

Raon approached Bobor again with a wide smile.

"Where are the other warehouses?"

"T-There aren’t any. Really, this is everything!"

Bobor shouted that it was true and immediately knelt down.

“Really?”

Raon moved his fingers as though he were about to call Dorian over.

“Y-Yes! It’s true! You don’t need to call him!”

Bobor’s eyes trembled with fear, seemingly more terrified of Dorian than of Raon.

“Hmm…”

Raon clicked his tongue as he studied Bobor’s expression. His reaction was different this time. It really did seem as though there were no more hidden spaces beyond that last wall.

‘Well, if there were any more, that would be ridiculous.’

Even for a dragon, it wouldn't be easy to hoard more wealth than this. The goblin's words seemed to be true.

“Then I’ll ask you something else.”

Raon nodded, locking eyes with Bobor.

“Y-Yes? What is it…?”

“The dragons that attacked Seipia with Matirus this time. You know them, don’t you?”

“Y-Yes. Lord Jera Pirette and Lord Caberavon.”

Bobor quickly revealed the names of the Black Dragon and the Red Dragon, as if he had been waiting for the question.

As expected, they seemed close to Matirus.

“I’ve heard that guardians sometimes travel between dragons that are close to each other. Is that true?”

“Yes, that’s correct. They send or trade any treasures they don’t need.”

Bobor blinked as if wondering how Raon knew that.

“Then you must know where their nests are.”

Raon tilted his chin slightly.

“Of course, but… Ah!”

Bobor finally realized Raon’s intentions, and his jaw began to tremble.

‘He wants even more?’

This human is greedier than a dragon!’

*   *   *

After obtaining the locations of the two dragons’ nests from Bobor, Raon returned once again to Seipia.

“Did you manage to bring back anything valuable?”

Stearin smiled faintly, as if asking whether the effort had been worth it.

“Yes. Far more than expected.”

Raon replied as he pulled out his subspace pocket, mentioning how much effort it took to gather everything.

“Since we took so much, I’d like to share some with Seipia…”

“No need.”

Sterin shook his head decisively.

“We don’t understand the value of gold or jewels. It would be better for you to take and use them.”

He shrugged, implying that if they kept it, they would likely be taken advantage of.

"I suppose that's true."

Raon chuckled lightly and nodded.

“In that case, allow me to send you weapons and armor made from dragon bones and scales. That should be acceptable, right?”

"Yes, please do."

Sterin nodded, expressing gratitude for the offer.

“Ah, I’ve sent a letter to that dwarf, so he should eventually contact Zieghart. But you know how he is, so obsessed with his work that it might take a while.”

Sterin clicked his tongue, noting that Borgos rarely paid attention to letters.

“Understood. Thank you. And…”

Raon pulled a seven-colored, radiant orb from his subspace pocket. It was the dragon heart he had obtained.

“What’s this for…”

Sterin’s eyes widened in surprise at the sight of the dragon heart.

“I’d like to give this to you, Protector.”

Without hesitation, Raon extended the dragon heart toward Sterin.

“Hmm, I cannot accept it. You were the one who defeated them.”

Sterin bit his lip, saying that it was too heavy a gift for him to receive.

“If Protector hadn’t worn down Matirus’ stamina, I wouldn’t have been able to win. Besides…”

Raon gave Sterin a gentle smile.

"You said you wanted to protect Seipia a little longer, right? The mana contained in this dragon heart is no different from the energy of nature, so it will be a great help to you, Protector."

If Sterin could absorb the dragon heart, it might slow the rate at which his strength was draining away.

He had expressed his wish to remain in this world a little longer, so Raon wanted to give him the means to do so.

“Hmm…”

Sterin looked at the dragon heart and let out a low groan as if he was troubled.

“And one more thing.”

Raon raised a finger.

“I hope to solidify the alliance between Zieghart and Seipia. Please help us in our war.”

He bowed deeply as he made his request.

“Raon…”

Sterin's aged eyes trembled as he looked at Raon, who bowed politely.

‘Rather than saying “fight with us,” he said “help us.”’

This child truly is different.

With Matirus’ death in Seipia, the elves had become fully involved in the continent’s affairs. Stearin had intended to ask Raon to fight alongside them, but Raon didn’t suggest fighting together. Instead, he simply asked for their help.

Hearing such considerate words, even in this situation, brought warmth to his heart and a sense of calm.

“Very well…”

Sterin made his decision and took the dragon heart from Raon’s hand.

“Let us fight together. I’ll survive to the end and protect both Seipia and you.”

He bowed his head solemnly, declaring he would finish what his grandson never could.

“Thank you.”

Raon gave a gentle smile, resting his hand on the Blade of Requiem at his waist.

You’re really giving that precious dragon heart to that old elf? Isn’t that a waste?

'I'm not just giving it based on emotions. It will benefit us too.'

Sterin is one of the strongest among Transcenders. Even among the so-called ‘neutral factions,’ he stood at a higher level.

His presence alone would help maintain the balance of power in the world.

“And this sword, I’ll return it to you.”

Raon knelt on one knee and handed Rimmer's sword to Sterin.

“No, you keep it.”

Sterin shook his head calmly.

“Huh?”

“That sword suits your hand better. It’ll serve as a symbol of our alliance. Let’s say the alliance ends when that sword is returned to Seipia.”

He smiled faintly.

“Then I’ll have to pass it down for generations.”

Raon smiled as he sheathed the sword back at his waist.

“For generations? Are you just now deciding to stay by my side forever?”

Beneath a tree, a hamster suddenly raised its paw high.

Kkyaaaaak!

Wrath screamed in terror and went into the bracelet.

“M-Merlin….”

Raon pressed a hand to his chest, trying to calm his racing heart and catch his breath.

“I was wondering where you’d gone, and here you are popping up again all of a sudden…”

He had told her countless times to give some kind of signal before appearing, but she never listened.

“Yep! I had something to do!”

“Something to do?”

“I’m in the middle of an investigation right now, so I’ll tell you later.”

Merlin shook her head, promising to explain later.

“Then why did you come out now?”

“Well, we were talking about your and my future, so of course I had to appear… Oh, sorry! I have to go!”

Merlin flashed a mischievous smile, saying they should set Sterin as the officiant for their wedding, then left the hamster’s body.

“W-What a peculiar child.”

Sterin let out a dry laugh, still unable to adjust to her odd behavior.

“I think so too.”

Raon nodded and sighed.

"The handsome Raon bestowed the dragon heart upon the Protector of the elves and made him his subordinate..."

As the tension eased, Siyan’s voice came from behind.

Hearing her utter nonsense about making her grandfather a subordinate made Raon’s heart race even more than Merlin’s sudden appearance.

“Shouldn’t we stop her?”

“I… I can’t control her anymore…”

Sterin shook his head, admitting that dealing with his granddaughter was becoming increasingly difficult.

“Let’s leave that child be and settle our own matters first. As you suggested, I’ve separated out the dragon corpses, but how do you plan to transport them?”

Sterin furrowed his brow, pointing out that the dragons were far too large to move easily.

“It’s going to take dozens of mages, most likely.”

“I’m not entirely sure yet…”

Raon tilted his head thoughtfully, then called Dorian over.

“Can you really do it?”

“Of course!”

Dorian nodded confidently and walked toward the dragon corpses behind Sterin.

Before long, the bones, teeth, and scales of all three dragons disappeared into his belly pocket.

“W-Wait, did it really all fit? Just how deep is that pocket?”

That’s not a pouch, it’s a storage warehouse! An infinite warehouse at that!

“Whoa…”

“Perfect! My belly feels nice and full!”

Amid the astonishment of the three Transcenders, Dorian caressed his belly pocket with a blissful smile.

Naturally, this scene was recorded in the Raon Zieghart’s Biography.

"Raon Zieghart, the man who commands the God of Supply..."

*   *   *

Raon and the Light Wind division left Seipia and returned straight to Zieghart.

With so many items in their possession and much to report, there was no time to rest.

“You’ve returned.”

The Foreign Minister Illiune nodded slightly.

“I heard you killed three dragons. Is it true?”

“Yes. Somehow, it happened.”

Raon replied with a smile and a nod.

“Every time you go out, you come back with some new, outrageous achievement. No one can keep up with you.”

Illiune shook his head in disbelief, letting out a hollow laugh.

“Go in quickly. The head of house is waiting for you.”

He opened the outer fortress gate, telling them to go straight to the lord's manor.

“Thank you.”

Raon bowed respectfully to Illiune and the outer fortress swordsmen and went up the main road leading to the main building.

“Did he really take down three dragons?”

“Someone said two of them were ancient dragons.”

“He only reached Transcendence recently, how could he already be that powerful?”

“He’s done plenty of impossible things before, but this time is truly astonishing. It’s hard to believe.”

The swordsmen standing around the main road murmured non-stop about his incredible achievement.

“They used to talk behind our back all the time, but now I don’t hear a single insult.”

Krein smiled, clearly enjoying the admiring gazes of the swordsmen.

“Of course. Who would dare to badmouth a Transcender?”

Martha snorted, saying it was only natural.

“You don’t need to pay attention to others’ words or opinions. Back then or now, the Light Wind is still the Light Wind.”

Raon encouraged the division to hold their heads high as they entered the lord’s manor.

It seemed word of their arrival had already spread, the audience chamber doors were wide open, and the executives were lined up before the white pillars.

"Hoo."

Raon took a calm breath and stepped onto the red carpet, entering the audience chamber. Once he confirmed that the entire Light Wind division had followed him, he knelt and bowed his head toward Glenn, who sat upon the throne.

“I greet the head of house.”

“We greet the head of house!”

“Rise.”

As they finished their greetings, Glenn’s voice came from the platform above.

His voice seemed to tremble slightly, as if he was nervous.

"Ah, yes..."

Finding it odd, he raised his head and saw Glenn, whose lips were trembling at the corners—a sight he hadn’t seen in a long time.
