The Reincarnated Assassin is a Genius Swordsman 838

 Chapter 838

“Aunt….”

Raon’s fingertips trembled violently. His mind turned completely blank. He knew he had to run to Aris right away, but his body wouldn’t move as if his mind and body were acting separately.

“Wh-what…?”

Burren dropped his sword in disbelief.

“Damn it!”

Martha cursed with a distorted expression.

“…Sif?”

Runaan stood frozen in place, as if turned to stone.

“Sif!”

Raon slapped his own face to force himself back to his senses.

“You bastard!”

“Stop right there.”

As Raon was about to use the Supreme Harmony Steps to save Aris, Sif calmly shook his head.

“It would be better if you didn’t move from where you are.”

Sif slightly twisted the black sword embedded in Aris’ chest, as if warning that he would kill her if Raon got any closer.

“Urgh…!”

Aris let out a groan that sounded like she was on the verge of death, her entire body trembling violently.

“You…”

Raon clenched his teeth as he looked at Sif’s calm gaze.

‘Damn it!’

Wrath had mentioned earlier that he felt like he’d seen Sif before, which had initially planted some suspicion in Raon’s mind.

But Sif’s body had been so rigid that he could barely hold a knife, let alone a sword, and his aura was completely dried up.

Raon had assumed he wasn’t capable of harming anyone.

More than that, the affectionate bond between Aris and Sif reminded Raon of himself and Sylvia, so he had let his guard down.

He never imagined something like this would happen. That Aris would end up in this situation was beyond his worst fears.

“Si-Sif….”

Aris turned her head toward Sif, coughing up black blood.

“I bear no ill will, mother,” Sif said with a gentle smile, brushing aside Aris’ red hair.

“It’s just that I need you.”

His voice was soft, unchanged from how it had always been, and he smiled warmly.

“Why…? If you needed something, I would have given it to you….”

Aris’ trembling, darkened lips quivered more from the pain of Sif’s change than from the sword in her chest.

“Was it because I trained you so harshly? Or because I came too late to save you…?”

Even in this situation, she asked for the reason, thinking of Sif first.

“Training? It was tough, for sure. Others praised me for my talent, but back then, I wasn’t very interested in strength,” Sif said, shaking his head with indifferent eyes.

“But it was different once I left you.”

He chuckled bitterly, his voice cracking.

“That’s when I realized how exceptional I was—and how worthless those other humans, those mere insects, truly are. Strength—it’s truly amazing.”

Sif thanked Aris for making him realize that, as he gently stroked her cheek.

“I… I didn’t train you for something like that!”

“Didn’t you tell me not to lose to anyone? Oppressing and dominating the weak is such a delightful experience.”

Sif raised the corners of his mouth in a cruel smile, as if trampling on Aris’ hopes.

“But I’ve never heard any rumors about your actions….”

“If I did something stupid, I’d have been caught right away, I would’ve been caught right away, so I hid my identity. Bas the Crimson Disaster Sword, Danshu the Blood Wolf Demon, Isran the Demon Slaying Cloud—I’ve used many names."

Sif listed infamous aliases, each belonging to notorious killers, and said he had killed over a thousand people under those names.

"It’s all thanks to you, mother. I met my god, and I also came to understand what this Zieghart blood really is."

“Blood?”

Raon frowned as he forced the words out of his dry mouth.

“The claim that our blood is special isn’t a lie. It truly is different.”

Sif nodded, saying that was one thing he wasn’t lying about.

“I-I don’t know what you’re thinking. But I do know that I must stop you!”

Aris bit her lip and grabbed the black sword protruding from her chest, seemingly intent on breaking it.

“Ah….”

But she could not shatter the blade of the black sword. Her hand trembled weakly as if losing strength.

“A-Aunt?”

Raon swallowed dryly as he looked at Aris.

‘What is this?’

Even though she had been caught off guard in a weakened state, Aris was a Transcender who had overcome countless hardships.

She should have been able to break Sif’s sword, but she couldn’t move.

“What did you do…?”

Aris tried to muster her strength to pull out Sif’s black sword, but his blade did not budge, as solid as a rock.

“This sword is special. It was forged with my blood and soul.”

Sif explained, shaking his head as if it were only natural that she couldn’t pull it out.

“But if my beloved mother asks, I’ll gladly pull it out myself. It’s about time, anyway.”

With a soft smile, he pulled the black sword from Aris’ chest.

Splurt!

As soon as the sword was removed, Aris collapsed, and a horrifying amount of blood poured from the gaping wound in her chest.

Flaaaash!

The moment Aris’ blood touched the ground, the dried bloodstains on the walls, ceiling, and floor of the cavern glowed red.

Wooooong!

As if melting her blood, a bright red glow flooded down onto Sif like stage lights.

As the blood-colored glow seeped into Sif’s body, it was as if time had been reversed—his wounds vanished, flesh and muscle regenerated, and his appearance began transforming into a robust figure.

Thud!

Raon slammed his foot into the ground without hesitation.

‘I have to act now.’

If he didn’t, Aris would die for sure.

This was the only moment to rescue Aris from Sif, who was rapidly growing stronger.

Swish!

Raon stepped forward with his left foot and unleashed the Frost Pond. The frost blade and Heavenly Drive targeted Sif’s head and heart simultaneously.

“You should’ve just focused on saving mother.”

Sif smiled faintly and shook his head.

“You’re too greedy, little brother.”

With a slight flick of his fingers, the space cracked, and the two strikes of the Frost Pond were nullified. His mastery of space sword was remarkable, worthy of Aris’ son.

Tsk.

Raon clicked his tongue and rushed to Aris’ side.

“Aunt!”

Aris’ eyes were open, but she couldn’t move a single finger, as if her entire body were paralyzed.

It seemed the mental shock was even greater than the physical pain.

“Damn it!”

Raon clenched his teeth and placed his hand on Aris’ chest. He poured all of the holy power of Divinity Blooming from the Underworld into the gaping wound, where blood still flowed.

Hooo!

Because he used all his holy power, Aris’ wound closed, but she still could not move.

“Ra… Raon….”

Red tears welled up in Aris’ distorted eyes. She silently conveyed her apology through her gaze.

“Space sword?”

Paras, who had been approaching Aris, stopped and trembled as he stared at Sif.

"How could Sir Sif use the space sword…."

“What do you mean?”

Raon turned to Paras, narrowing his eyes.

“Sir Sif was never able to learn the space sword. He trained in an entirely different swordsmanship, so why suddenly…?”

Paras clutched his head, unable to comprehend what was happening.

That bastard...

Wrath bit his lip as he looked at Sif.

He is drawing out the punk's power.

‘Power? You mean he’s extracting my aunt’s aura?’

Certainly, Aris’s energy was gradually diminishing, and conversely, Sif’s energy wave was steadily growing stronger.

Not just simple aura, but power itself! He’s drawing out the very martial prowess that punk possessed!

Wrath shook his head, saying even he was witnessing such a phenomenon for the first time.

‘Then...’

Now Raon understood why Paras had been so shocked at seeing Sif’s space sword.
It sounded absurd, but it seemed the bastard had stolen Aris’ space sword.

And now the King of Essence finally remembered who that bastard is.

Wrath let out a low breath as he glared at Sif.

He’s the one who tried to kill you at the river.

‘Tried to kill me?’

He told you, didn't he, that when the King of Essence woke from his slumber, you were on the verge of death? That guy over there is the one who chased you down and tried to kill you!

‘No way...’

After his duel to death with the Axe King, he had heard that a bastard hiding in the Evil Goat Demon’s shadow had jumped out at the very last moment and stabbed him.

“Be…orn?”

Raon looked at Sif and ground his teeth as he spat out the name Beorn.

“Huh?”

Sif let out a hollow laugh as he looked at Raon.

“You remember? But you were definitely unconscious.”

He tilted his head as if he found it fascinating.

“Well, there’s no need to lie about it now.”

Sif nodded calmly as he looked at the fallen Aris.

“That’s right. I am Beorn.”

Erasing the eerie smile from his face, he revealed an unyielding gaze as solid as stone.

“...Is Sif dead?”

Raon gritted his teeth and asked. It seemed like Beorn had killed Sif and acted using his skin.

“What nonsense are you spouting?”

Sif drew a bizarre smile again.

“I am both Beorn and Sif.”

Beorn declared that he was Sif as he tilted his chin.

“What...?”

Raon’s lips trembled.

“Did you think I died and then Beorn pretended to be me? That’s far too naive!”

Beorn swept up his red hair and let out a mocking laugh.

“Ah...”

At Aris’ groan, Raon lowered his gaze. It seemed she had heard Beorn’s words as well, as a tear of blood dripped from her eyes, filled with despair.

‘He reminds me of him.’

Raon bit his lip until it bled.

‘Derus Robert.’

That pure malice, with no clear purpose, treating all humans as mere chess pieces. It gave him the same filthy feeling as when he faced Derus Robert.

“I will kill you...”

As if making a vow before Aris, Raon stood in front of her with Heavenly Drive and the Blade of Requiem raised.

Finish him as quickly as possible. That bastard is….

Just as Wrath swung his hand, saying there wasn’t much time left—

Rumble!

A massive surge of mana erupted from Beorn’s entire body like a volcanic explosion, emitting a grand blue light.

This force shook not only the dungeon but the entire island. It was a domineering wave of energy that could only be displayed by one who had broken through the wall of Grandmaster and stepped into Transcendence.

“This is...”

Beorn looked at his own hand and smacked his lips with satisfaction.

“True transcendence.”

He smiled broadly, saying he had finally reached it.

“That’s impossible...”

Raon bit his dry lips and shook his head.

“You can’t reach Transcendence this way!”

He knew better than anyone how incredibly high Transcendence was. It should have been impossible to achieve it by stealing power from someone else.

Yet, even now, as Beorn reached Transcendence, he was growing stronger—as if he was reaching Aris’ level.

“Yes, it’s normally impossible. But….”

Beorn looked around at the cavern, sparkling like a ruby, and laughed.

“With the despair and fear lingering in this cavern, and the Zieghart blood flowing through our veins, it’s possible.”

He nodded toward Aris, saying that over a thousand humans’ blood had been spilled for her.

“Zieghart blood...?”

Raon let out a hollow breath as he looked at Beorn. That bastard had also mentioned earlier that Zieghart blood was special.

"Have you ever wondered why only Zieghart's direct line can use the Sword Field Creation?"

Beorn swung his black sword, pointing at himself.

“What?”

“There are plenty of Grandmasters and Transcenders swordsmen, but only Zieghart uses the sword field. Do you know why?”

He lightly turned his head.

“You don’t know, right? You just took it for granted.”

“...”

“The reason we can use the sword field is because of the blood passed down from above. Our ancestors weren’t human.”

Beorn smacked his lips, saying their blood was mixed with that of another race.

"That’s why only bloodlines in which the blood is more deeply ingrained can use the sword field"

He nodded, saying wasn’t it fascinating.

Whoosh!

Raon didn’t miss the moment Beorn’s gaze shifted downward and stepped forward using the Supreme Harmony Steps.

‘This is dangerous.’

If that bastard grew any stronger, even pouring out all his strength wouldn’t be enough to win.

As curious as he was about the blood, now was the time to end it.

Just as he stomped his foot fiercely to unleash the Sword Field Creation, Genesis in one strike—

Raon!

Before Wrath’s shout could finish, the ground Beorn was stepping on shone bright white, and a cold-faced young man appeared.

“Do not interfere.”

As pure white light radiated from the young man’s hand, Raon and the Light Wind swordsmen behind him disappeared like smoke.

“Vardiel. What are you doing?”

Beorn frowned as he looked at the cold-faced young man.

“Have you forgotten his orders? Absorbing Aris Zieghart’s power is the top priority.”

Vardiel shook his head, reminding him of the highest priority.

"Those guys wouldn’t even count as a post-meal warm-up."

Beorn stomped his foot in irritation.

“I’ll deal with Raon Zieghart and the other humans. You focus solely on your task.”

Ignoring Beorn, Vardiel also sank into the white light.

“That bastard’s not even human, yet he worries too much.”

As Beorn clicked his tongue and approached the fallen Aris—

“Huh…?”

Dorian, who emerged late from the hidden room, trembled violently as he looked at Beorn.

“Fortunately...”

Beorn licked his lips with his bright red tongue.

“There’s still one left.”

*   *   *

“What is this place...?”

Raon bit his lip as he looked at the entirely white world around him.

The moment the cold-faced young man emitted light, he had been sucked into this space without any chance to resist. He didn’t know what had happened.

‘But it’s not something I can’t break out of.’

The space itself didn’t appear to have high durability. If he broke it quickly, it didn’t seem like there would be much of an issue.

Chiiiiing!

As Raon steadied his breath and struck Heavenly Drive downward, the space cracked, and the cold-faced young man who had trapped him appeared.

Clang!

The young man blocked Raon’s sword strike and revealed calm eyes.

“Move.”

“Sorry, but you’ll have to stay here.”

He raised a massive shield of radiant light, saying they couldn’t leave.

“So you’re refusing to step back? In that case...”

Raon stepped forward, gripping Heavenly Drive and the Blade of Requiem tightly. His eyes gleamed coldly, like darkness swallowing light.

“I’ll cut your throat and get out of here.”

  1. Is this plot twist really necessary?? The plot will become generic at this point if you go down this road.

    1. Yup, it's needed for the plot later on.

    2. Also, Zieghart is too powerful if Raon becomes a transcender. 4 is too many, especially because one of them is the Lightning God

    3. There are many transcenders on the enemy including an angel a higher ranking one at that and also the heavenly demon many transcenders comparable to Glenn. I think this twist is unnecessary.
