The Reincarnated Assassin is a Genius Swordsman 844
Chapter 844
Silence.
That was the first thought that came to Raon as he returned to reality.
‘The mana is following my will.’
Like receiving the blessing of mana, he could feel the various energies spread throughout the world as if they were his own.
Just moving his fingertips caused the surrounding mana to surge.
He slowly raised his hand and placed it on his heart.
Wooooooong!
Inside his heart, nine rings of fire resonated.
Not only the flames of Ten Thousand Flames Cultivation, but also the cold energy of Glacier and the wind of Garunua pulsed together with the rings.
And, at the deepest part of his heart, there remained the sadness Rimmer had passed on to him.
Haaah.
Raon let out a heavy breath and opened his eyes.
[You have reached the realm of Transcendence!]
[The Ring of Fire has reached 9 stars]
[The Ten Thousand Flames Cultivation has reached 9 stars]
[Glacier has reached 9 stars]
[All stats have...]
[Transcendence...]
[Traits...]
The moment he opened his eyes, reward messages appeared.
Raon didn't look at any of them and dismissed the messages. Even without them, he knew he had reached Transcendence.
You, you bastard!
Wrath pushed his pale face forward.
Are you all right? How can you be fine when the cold energy reached your bones….
He trembled, looking like he couldn't understand. His blue, flickering eyes were full of worry.
‘I’m sorry.’
Raon slightly raised his body and lowered his head toward Wrath.
T, that's not important! Tell me what happened! Why did you, who was supposed to die, reach Transcendence!
Wrath waved his hands up and down, looking like he was about to die of curiosity.
‘That’s….’
Just as Raon was about to answer, the sound of shattering ice echoed, and the swordsmen of the Light Wind division rushed toward him.
“Raon!”
“Are you all right?”
“What on earth did you do?!”
Runaan, Burren, and Martha grabbed him, panting heavily.
“What do you mean, what did I do?”
Raon tilted his head as he looked at the three of them.
"Your body froze white as if you were dead, then suddenly you floated into the air, and then you released golden flames so intense they filled this entire cavern. It looked like wings of fire sprouted from your back!"
Martha’s eyes trembled, saying she had never seen such a sight before.
“That flame melted the frost wall that was trapping us. Strangely, it wasn’t hot at all.”
Burren shook his head briefly, saying they managed to escape because of it.
"Raon. Are you really alright?"
Runaan, seemingly concerned only about his condition, clung to his arm and wouldn’t let go.
“I’m fine.”
Raon nodded calmly. His body wasn't in good condition as his injuries hadn't healed, but that wasn't important now.
"Hmm, something about you seems different..."
Martha narrowed her eyes, as if she found something odd.
"That's right. The mana around you is surging as if it has a will of its own."
Burren let out a surprised gasp.
“Raon, don’t tell me….”
Runaan swallowed dryly, as if realizing something.
“Yes, I’ve reached Transcendence.”
Raon nodded, sensing the mana moving according to his will.
“Ah!”
“Tr-Transcendence….”
“How is that possible? You were on the brink of death…”
That's right! Tell us properly!
Not only Runaan, Martha, and Burren, but even Wrath was pounding his chest, looking frustrated.
“Master….”
Raon bit down on his lip as he looked at Rimmer, who was lying as if asleep.
“Master has given me his guidance.”
“Huh….”
“What do you mean…?”
“…….”
Burren, Martha, and Runaan turned to look at Rimmer, their eyes trembling.
No way… Did you meet that shitty ears in your mental world?
‘Yes.’
Raon nodded, recalling Rimmer, who had never lost his smile until the very end.
“Master came to my mental world to teach me what I was lacking. Thanks to him, I was able to reach Transcendence.“
He raised his trembling hand and touched his head. Even though it hadn’t happened in reality, he could still feel Rimmer's warmth.
“You didn’t just reach Transcendence… but also, how should I put it….”
“You’ve become a different person.”
Runaan continued Martha’s words.
Just as they said, the current Raon was practically a different person from who he was before. No, he was still changing, even at this very moment.
“Young master….”
Dorian, his entire body wrapped in bandages, approached and knelt before him.
“I-I’m sorry. I couldn’t save the vice division leader or protect Lady Aris. It’s all my fault for being so weak!”
Dorian’s face was pale, as if his mental pain was greater than his physical pain, and he buried his face in the ground.
“Let’s save the self-reproach for later.”
Raon shook his head as he placed a hand on Dorian’s shoulder.
“We have to finish taking our revenge first.”
“Revenge will be difficult…”
Burren lowered his gaze and shook his head.
“Even if you’ve reached Transcendence, the enemies are two Transcenders, and three hours have already passed since they left this place.”
He bit his lip, saying they must have already reached the dungeon exit.
“I want revenge too. I want to rip that fucker’s face apart!”
Martha trembled as blood dripped from her clenched fists.
“But the dungeon has collapsed, so it will take us far more time to get out than them….”
Tears streamed down her face as her voice filled with frustration.
“Besides, the time flow in this dungeon is different from outside. The reason they left us alive was probably because of the huge time difference with the outside…."
Krein sighed, saying they didn't know how many months would have passed if they went out now.
"Time here doesn't just flow fast."
Raon turned around and looked at Paras.
“Sir Paras.”
“Yes? Ah, yes….”
Paras, who seemed to believe all this had happened because of him, looked as if he had aged ten years and bowed his head.
“When you came here for the second time, you stayed for a week, but only a day had passed outside, correct?”
“Th-That’s right. I thought at least a month must have passed, so I was shocked that only a day had gone by.”
He nodded, saying he was also confused.
“The flow of time of this dungeon is controlled by sorcery. It can be made to flow quickly or slowly.”
As Raon lowered his fingers, the rocks blocking the path turned to dust and melted away.
“Since all the sorcerers are dead, they can’t do it anymore, but I can.”
Before, he could only undo existing sorcery, but now that he had reached Transcendence, he felt he could even control the flow of sorcery.
“Before that, I’ll relay master’s final words.”
Raon smiled faintly as he looked at the Light Wind swordsmen.
“‘Oh, and be sure to kill that damned bastard! Got it? I wasn’t going to say this, but seeing him tormenting you too…I can’t stand it….’ That’s what he said before he left.”
When Raon repeated the words Rimmer had said, small laughter flowed among the Light Wind swordsmen.
It seemed they all thought, 'That’s just so typical of Rimmer.
“Let’s go. We have to avenge our master.”
When Raon turned away heavily, Heavenly Drive and the Blade of Requiem that were stuck in the ground pulled themselves out and slid into his scabbards on their own.
“Us too?”
“Won’t we just get in the way?”
Burren and Martha trembled their lips, looking worried.
“Division leader, I….”
Dorian gripped his head tightly, muttering that he didn’t want to feel regret again.
“This revenge isn’t something I can do alone.”
Raon shook his head, looking at the green wind lingering in the cavern.
“I’ll make a path, so follow me.”
At his last words, filled with trust, blue light flickered in the eyes of the Light Wind swordsmen.
* * *
“Haah.”
Sif shattered the rocks blocking the path and let out a deep sigh.
“Is there no teleportation?”
He gestured toward Vardiel, signaling him to do something.
“Because the barrier is broken, it can’t be used right now.”
Vardiel shook his head, saying it would take time for his heavenly power to recover.
"How long do we have to climb through this dirt and dust? Even an angel is no help."
Sif snorted as if mocking Vardiel.
“Beorn….”
Vardiel narrowed his eyes as he looked at Sif.
"Your personality has changed."
"Personality? I've always been like this."
Sif tilted his chin as if to ask what Vardiel was talking about.
“Not realizing it yourself must be a side effect of absorbing that power.”
“Side effect? Don’t be ridiculous! I’m perfectly fine! You’re just not on my level to judge me, that’s all.”
He waved his hand dismissively, telling Vardiel to stop talking nonsense.
“…What about that woman?”
Vardiel, thinking that he couldn’t reason with him, changed the subject to Aris.
“I absorbed all the remaining power during our escape….”
Sif glanced at Aris, who was slung over his shoulder, wrinkling his nose.
“She’s just dead weight now. Doesn’t matter if I throw her away.”
He looked like he was about to toss her off his shoulder at any moment.
“No, not yet.”
Vardiel shook his head.
"The Destructive King of the North cherishes Raon Zieghart more than anyone. If we’re going to provoke him with Raon’s death, we might at least need the corpse of Aris Zieghart."
“That’s a good idea.”
Sif said it was a great plan and lifted Aris again.
“Of course, we’ll have to tamper with the body. We can’t let it come out that we ambushed her from behind.”
Vardiel lowered his gaze, saying he’d handle it himself.
“All right. I’ll leave that part to—oh!”
Nodding, Sif then let out a gasp when he saw a bit of sunlight shining through a small hole above.
“At last, I can see outside!”
When he reached out, the hole where the sunlight was entering exploded, creating a passage large enough for a person to exit.
“Ah, sunlight really is the best.”
Standing in the bright sun pouring in from outside the dungeon, Sif closed his eyes in satisfaction.
“Even if we can’t do teleportation, we’re not going to walk all the way back, right?”
“In a few hours, I’ll be recovered. We’ll wait until then.”
Vardiel leaned against a tree, saying they should wait here for a while before moving.
“We should station people at the dungeon entrance, just in case. Raon Zieghart is probably dead, but there’s always the chance that other humans might come out.”
He narrowed his eyes as he looked at the dungeon’s entrance.
“What a waste.”
Sif clicked his tongue briefly.
"Raon Zieghart. If we had researched him, we could have extracted the power of the demon as well…."
"You're late."
Right as he was smacking his lips, Raon’s voice came from the dungeon entrance.
Step.
Raon emerged calmly from the dungeon, as if he’d been waiting for them.
His blood-soaked blond hair, the tattered and torn Black Dragon Coat, and the wound on his chest that still remained open.
He looked as though it wouldn’t be strange to call him a wreck, yet his red eyes were calm and steady.
“Wha…?”
Vardiel’s jaw trembled as he stared at Raon.
“How are you here?!”
His voice came out like a shriek, unable to comprehend the situation.
“I thought you were dead?”
Sif let out a hollow laugh, as if he couldn’t believe it.
“You’re alive? And not just alive—you’ve reached Transcendence? This is unexpected.”
He chuckled, shaking his head in disbelief.
“But how did you get here? I didn’t sense any presence following from behind.”
"Are you and I in the kind of relationship to exchange such words?"
Raon lowered his hands without answering.
“True, we’re not.”
Sif smirked and tilted his chin mockingly.
“To be honest… I’m glad to see you again, little brother. I was a bit disappointed I couldn’t absorb your blood. If I were to take in your talent as well, the only one in Zieghart who could stop me would be grandfather.”
He smiled, saying he had gained quite a lot from the blood he absorbed from Aris.
“Beorn!”
Vardiel called out to Sif, furrowing his brow deeply.
“Focus! There’s something different about him!”
He swallowed nervously as he looked at Raon, unable to sense any energy from him.
"It’s not just him who’s different. I’ve absorbed all of mother’s power, and even if he’s reached Transcendence, he’s dying!"
Sif shouted for Vardiel not to worry, slashing the space sword down with extreme swiftness meant to tear through Raon’s neck.
"Hmph!"
Vardiel created pure white clouds, as if in sync with Sif’s attack, and unleashed hailstones of light toward Raon.
Raon exhaled calmly as he stepped forward. Neither the space sword striking like lightning nor the vast shower of light meteors raining down from a massive range managed to brush even the hem of his clothing..
Fwoooosh!
It didn’t feel as though he was avoiding them with footwork, rather, it seemed as if the space sword and the hailstones swerved away from his body on their own.
Hoo…
Raon didn’t miss even the faint flow of mana emanating from the enemies’ breaths.
The sunlight grazing through the trees, the dew pooling in the hollow, the slowly falling leaves—he could feel the mana of nature itself against his skin.
‘So this is the realm of Transcendence.’
His body felt heavy, as if he were sinking into a deep swamp. He could sense the flow and harmony of the sky and earth, but his arms and legs moved far more slowly than he intended.
But it didn’t matter.
His enemies were slower than him, heavier than him, and weaker than him.
"For someone staggering, you’re dodging quite well."
Sif, displeased, furrowed his brows as he unleashed a space sword imbued with a blue glow. It was faster and more powerful than anything Raon had faced in the cavern, as if Sif had absorbed every bit of Aris’s strength.
"He absolutely must be killed…."
Vardiel resolved to go all out, gathering a radiant white light between his hands.
Vwooooom!
Just as Sif’s space sword and Vardiel’s brilliance were about to converge on Raon, he vanished.
Pwoooom!
He reappeared to Vardiel’s left. His mysterious yet swift movements completely escaped the two Transcenders’ senses.
“Damn it!”
Vardiel, true to his status as a Transcender, reacted in an instant and redirected the direction of the light he unleashed. The light, sharpened like a blade, engulfed Raon's entire body.
Chiiiiing!
Raon drew Heavenly Drive amidst the light that distorted the space.
A thousand flames (千火) are the heavenly flame (天火).
A thousand flames soared up to the sky, turning into golden flames as they rained down.
Ten Thousand Flames Cultivation.
Thousand Flames.
Ten Thousand Scattered Heavenly Infusion.
Rumble!
The golden flames consumed Vardiel’s light and tore savagely into his chest.
“Gaaaahhhh….”
Raon shook his head as he watched Vardiel scream in agony.
"Vardiel, every time you used that technique, your movements were way too big."
“Ra-Raon Zieghart….”
“Don’t utter my name with that filthy mouth.”
Raon yanked out Heavenly Drive violently, tearing Vardiel’s upper body apart.
The angel fell to the ground, his wings drenched in blood.
“What is this….”
Sif's chin quivered, as if he was dumbfounded.
"Are you saying you came here after learning a new technique?"
“…….”
Raon didn’t bother answering, gripping Heavenly Drive tightly.
‘I'm feeling dizzy....’
Maybe it was because he had reached Transcendence while unconscious, or because his injuries hadn’t healed, his vision was blurry.
However, now was not the time to show weakness. No matter what, he had to end Sif. He had to fulfill his master’s revenge.
“Fine. But like I said, you’re not the only one who’s changed.”
Sif tilted the black sword behind his back. His entire body flared up with tremendous energy, as if it were about to burst.
It seemed he was pouring out all the power he had stolen from Aris into this moment, shaking the entire island with intense vibrations.
“Sword Field Creation: Flame Obliteration!”
The black sword tore through space, flashing in a colorless brilliance.
The sky and earth split diagonally, and a crack tinged with blue light appeared between them. It was an overwhelmingly powerful sword field that seemed to perfectly replicate Aris’ sword field Obliteration.
Raon narrowed his eyes as he watched Sif's sword field tear through space and surge toward him.
Having already used the Harmony of Heaven and Demon and Genesis, he couldn’t use a sword field. But he still had a new sword.
Fwoosh.
He let go of Heavenly Drive in his right hand. The sword floated naturally, and he imbued it with the space sword learned from Aris, wrapping it with the wind of Garunua left behind by Rimmer.
Fwoooosh!
The person who had always made Raon’s fire shine the brightest had been none other than Rimmer.
In place of the master he could no longer meet, the lonely wind Rimmer had left behind pushed his sword forward.
Raon Zieghart Style Swordplay.
Eighth Form: Gentle Wind.
Although Aris and Rimmer couldn’t see it, Heavenly Drive, infused with their dreams and wishes, advanced with flames more brilliant than ever as it collided head-on with Sif’s sword field.
Kwoooaaaaah!
A hazy yet straight sword path stretched forward, the clear flames, reminiscent of Rimmer, burned away Sif’s sword field, which was slicing the world apart.
Crack!
Like a thin pane of glass shattering, Sif’s sword field broke to pieces, and Heavenly Drive, wreathed in golden fire sank into Sif’s chest.
“Guhhhh!”
Sif coughed up blood, his jaw trembling. As he reached out with trembling hands to pull out Heavenly Drive, Raon stomped his foot and roared.
“LIGHT WIND DIVISION!”
At his blood-mixed cry, the dungeon entrance burst open, and the Light Wind swordsmen charged in.
Their blades, turning blue as if infused with their master's wishes, advanced with sadness and wrath.
"You fucking bastard!"
Martha screamed furiously as she lunged forward, slashing her sword toward Sif’s right arm.
“You crazy bitch!”
Sif reached out to Martha, as if she had walked right into his trap. One finger flick from him would have been enough to make Martha's body explode, but Raon wasn't going to let that happen.
Wooooong!
Heavenly Drive, still embedded in Sif’s chest, vibrated violently, stopping the flow of aura through his body.
“Urgh….”
Raon vomited black, dead blood. It was a method that harmed not only Sif but also his own body and soul, but this revenge wasn't just his, it belonged to all of the Light Wind swordsmen.
"What is this!"
Sif roared in anger, reaching out toward Martha again, but not even a small amount of aura flowed from his hand.
“Die!”
Martha didn't miss the chance of Sif's confusion and struck down a slash imbued with Titan's aura.
Puuuuchk!
Sif's right arm was ripped off, crumpled as if hit by a hammer.
“Gaaaah!”
Sif screamed in pain and tried to retreat, but the Light Wind division’s revenge was only just beginning.
“Siiiiif!”
Burren let out a mad roar and charged forward, unleashed the Barren Wind. His finely sharpened blade slashed violently through Sif’s left arm.
"I won't forgive you..."
Runaan unleashed the cold energy imbued in the Snow Flower Sword, shattering Sif’s right leg. So that he could never stand again.
“Because of you! Because of you!”
Dorian swung his sword down with astral energy that rivaled the three team leaders. His attack relentlessly tore into Sif’s thigh, as if to make him feel Rimmer’s pain by shredding his flesh and bones endlessly.
"Gaaahhhh! You insect bastards!"
Sif screamed as he tried to pull out Heavenly Drive, but even as black blood streamed from Raon’s eyes and ears, he refused to let go.
Krein, with bloodshot eyes, stabbed Sif’s abdomen, while Yua and Yulius wailed as they cut his shoulders.
Encircling him, the Light Wind swordsmen drove their blades into every inch of Sif’s flesh.
Pchuuck, Scruunch, Sluuurt!
Over thirty swords pierced Sif’s body, and the overlapping sound of blades echoed sadly.
“M, me, to these insects...”
Sif trembled, his cheeks bulging with veins from the excruciating pain.
“Did you think you could become one of the celestials?”
Raon approached with staggering steps and looked down at Sif.
“You can never become a celestial, a demon, or even a human. At the ends of this continent, in the deepest tunnels, I’ll burn you so completely that not even a trace of your existence will remain.”
Uttering those words like a curse, Raon drew the Blade of Requiem imbued with Rimmer’s soul.
“You didn’t lose to us. You lost to our vice division leader.”
Raon bit his lip as he looked at the wound on the waist that Rimmer had left behind until the very end.
"He was far too kind a man to die at the hands of scum like you."
“W-wait! I’ll explain everything! I didn’t do this alone—”
Before Sif could finish his last words, Raon decapitated him with the Blade of Requiem.
Thud.
When Sif’s head rolled to the ground, Aris, who had been lying as if dead, began to breathe, spitting out blood.
It was only then that Raon’s vision started to blur.
He didn’t hold back the tears that streamed down his face. Just as his master had said—to return to the essence of being human—he pounded the ground and wailed.
More desperately and sadly than anyone else.
