The Reincarnated Assassin is a Genius Swordsman 843

 Chapter 843

Thunk!

Raon rushed forward without even catching his breath and caught the collapsing Rimmer.

"Vice division leader!"

He grabbed Rimmer's shoulders and shook him, but there was no response. The always clear sound of his breathing was gone, and even the scent of the wind had vanished.

"Please!"

Raon placed his hand on Rimmer’s left chest, which was turning black, and poured out the Divinity Blooming from the Underworld.

However, having already used much of its energy on Aris earlier, the wound refused to heal.

"Martha!"

Raon called Marta's name in a voice mixed with a metallic tone.

"Damn it! Rimmer!"

Martha screamed as she ran over and grabbed Rimmer’s wrist.

She tried to push aura into him to heal the wound, but Rimmer still didn’t move.

"V-Vice division leader!"

“Aaaargh!”

Burren and Runaan also rushed forward as if crawling on the ground and cried out Rimmer’s name.

"Vice division leader!"

"Instructor!"

"P-please wake up!"

Dorian and everyone from the Light Wind, covered in blood, rushed over and held onto Rimmer, but his eyelids didn’t open until the very end.

"So this is why he was called the Sword of Light."

Sif wiped the blood off his black sword and clicked his tongue.

“To throw away a chance to reach Transcendence just to save such insects, he was as crazy as his nickname suggests.” (Rimmer’s nickname is Sword of Light, or Gwang Geom. In Korean, gwang can mean either light or mad/crazy/insane, depending on the context.)

He sneered at Rimmer with a look of disbelief.

"No matter what, save him."

Raon held Rimmer's cold hand as he stood up.

He glared at Sif, who was mocking Rimmer, gripping the divine sword and the demonic sword so tightly that blood dripped from his hands.

‘All...’

All of it was my fault.

If I had identified the strange nature of this dungeon earlier.

If I hadn’t trusted Sif.

If I hadn’t been sucked into Vardiel’s barrier.

If I had broken through the barrier of light with all my might and returned here as quickly as possible.

Even if it meant dying together, Rimmer wouldn’t have fallen alone in despair.

This was all my fault.

“That guy called himself human. Isn’t it funny? Using a fake sword field and even attaching a fake arm to become human.”

Sif kept muttering disgusting nonsense with his open mouth.

"Well, it doesn’t matter. From my perspective, as someone about to become part of the celestial, humans and elves are just insects."

I wanted to rip that bastard's mouth apart.

‘I need…’

I need power.

With my current strength, I can’t even kill Sif.

To brutally kill Vardiel and Sif, I need tremendous power.

Gooooooo!

Raon dragged out all the emotions of the Demon Kings sleeping within his soul.

Even if I disappear, I want the strength for revenge. I wanted power to utterly destroy those pieces of trash.

No, you must not!

Wrath leapt forward, blocking his sight.

Even the King of Essence, cannot stop or control it right now! This is not his rampage, it is yours! Get a hold of yourself!

He shook his head furiously, saying that everything he had built up so far could turn to nothing.

"Aaaaaaah! Vice division leader!"

‘I’m sorry, Wrath….’

When he saw Dorian's scream and Sif's laughter, the reason he had barely been holding on to completely shattered.

Snap!

He heard a sound as if something had shattered in his mind, and the wrath rising from the depths of his soul surged through his entire body.

Creeeeak...

Pure white frost seeped into his heart, and the eight rings of fire creaked as if they had rusted and came to a complete stop.

The flames of the divine sword died down, while the frost of the demonic sword flared up as if it were about to explode.

It felt as if he had returned to his childhood—his entire mana circuit froze with cold energy, and his vision turned white.

Rumble!

The balance between the Ten Thousand Flames Cultivation and Glacier broke, and the three energy centers were filled with a chilling cold that made his spine shiver.

Whoooooooosh!

Raon dropped the extinguished divine sword and raised only the demonic sword. A storm of frost that seemed to engulf the world erupted behind him, with blue horns sprouting from his forehead.

“Did you accept the power of demons for the sake of revenge?”

Sif licked his crimson lips with amusement.

"I'll kill you…"

Raon exhaled a pale white breath, standing as if at the heart of winter.

As if the power of frost had gone out of control, he abandoned the stance of a swordsman and thrust his sword with a savage, beast-like manner.

Whooooooom!

With a single strike, half of the cavern froze, and Sif was thrown against the wall as if overwhelmed by the force. It was a terrifying display of power.

“You planning to die together? As expected of the Sword of Light’s disciple!”

Sif, with black blood vessels popping in his eyes, raised his black sword. A slash that cleaved space rose in front of Raon’s chest.

Pwoooosh!

Raon didn’t dodge. He endured the space slash with the Magic Armor of Snow Flower and delivered an even fiercer sword strike at Sif.

Claaang!

The frost strike collided with the space sword, and a whitish frozen fissure spread out, then exploded right away.

Explosions echoed everywhere, shaking the cavern as if it would collapse.

“Your strength surpasses Transcendence.”

Sif chuckled as he looked at his right arm, filled with frost.

Hooooong!

As Sif stepped backward to retreat, Raon reversed his grip on the demonic sword and slammed it into the ground.

As the blade of the demonic sword flashed as if it would burst, the space Sif opened to escape froze, surrounding him with a storm of frost. It was a prison made of frost.

Chiiiiing!

Raon’s eyes blazed with blue light as he charged toward Sif.

Just as he was about to strike Sif’s neck, a white ray shot from the right pierced his waist and thighs.

“Gaaaah!”

Even as he was wounded, Raon did not stop and slammed the demonic sword down toward Sif.

Kwaaaaaang!

However, since the strength and speed diminished midway, Sif easily blocked the sword strike and moved to the left.

“What’s with this guy? Is this even possible?”

Sif frowned as he looked at his black sword, now coated in frost.

"It’s possible."

Vardiel sighed heavily as he stared at Raon.

"Because the demon who lent power to that human is the Monarch of Wrath."

He furrowed his eyebrows as if he didn’t like this.

"The Monarch of Wrath?"

Sif narrowed his eyes at Vardiel.

"He's one of the most powerful monsters among the monarchs who rule the Devildom. I think I know why the light froze."

Vardiel nodded gravely, as if he finally understood.

"We have to attack together. He isn’t a Transcender, but we must treat him as if he were beyond that."

"Hmm…"

Sif narrowed his eyes as he watched Raon emit increasingly stronger cold energy.

"Shall we run a little experiment?"

"Experiment?"

"Just wait and see."

Sif dodged the frost Raon had unleashed and aimed a space slash at the Light Wind swordsmen gathered around Rimmer.

Kwaaaaa!

The slash tore through space, heading for the Light Wind swordsmen’s necks. Raon, who was charging at Sif, hastily withdrew and raised a frost wall.

Kwaaaaang!

Fortunately, the Light Wind swordsmen were saved from Sif's surprise attack, but because Raon had abruptly redirected the frost’s flow, blood trickled from his lips.

“Kuahahahahahah!”

Sif ran his hand through his disheveled hair and burst into wild laughter.

"Even in a half-mad state, you prioritize protecting your comrades? I should have known you'd inherit his stupidity, too!"

He laughed uncontrollably, clutching his stomach.

"Hmm…"

Even Vardiel frowned, seemingly surprised by Raon’s actions.

"This is why humans are trash. They can’t achieve greatness because they’re swayed by emotions."

Sif clicked his tongue and smirked.

"You know what to do, right?"

He raised his black sword above his head and looked at Vardiel.

"Yes. Let’s attack together."

Vardiel nodded and clasped his hands. A pure white brilliance of divine power ignited in his grasp.

Screeeech!

Sif's descending strike twisted and tore apart the mana within the cavern.

A space sword that had reached Transcendence. Along with cracks that seemed to tear through the void, slashes surged in from all directions

‘I….’

Raon lowered his gaze as he saw the slashes and waves of light pouring toward both the Light Wind swordsmen and himself.

‘Am I incapable of even making a choice?’

Though he had abandoned himself to avenge his master, he couldn’t allow his comrades to die.

Cursing his indecisive self, unable to let go of anything, he unleashed the cold energy he had built up.

‘I’m sorry, vice division leader. I’m sorry, Wrath.’

Raon raised his sword, not to protect himself but to protect the Light Wind swordsmen.

Sword Field Creation: Genesis.

A violet light, like the glow of twilight, rose from the blade of demonic sword.

Not a strike meant to kill the enemy but one meant to protect his comrades. He released a slash that spread out in a circular arc, clashing against the light of the celestial and the space slashes tearing through space.

Kuwaaaaang!

A massive explosion erupted, causing the cavern floor to collapse, and the ceiling and walls began to crumble.

With a shock beyond the limit, even the dungeon itself was collapsing.

“Guh-huk!”

Raon vomited black, dead blood and was slammed into the broken ground.

However, the Light Wind swordsmen inside the wall of frost he had created did not suffer so much as a scratch.

"Raon!"

"Get up!"

The Light Wind swordsmen called out Raon’s name, but he did not open his eyes, as though dead.

“Is he dead? No, I should check—”

"We need to get out!"

When Sif suggested checking Raon's condition, Vardiel grabbed his shoulder.

"What nonsense are you spouting? We need to at least take his corpse!"

"The flow of time in this dungeon is different from the outside! If we don’t get out before it collapses, years may pass outside!"

Vardiel shouted that the ones buried here were already as good as dead, insisting they leave.

“Tch.”

With nothing else he could do, Sif slung Aris, whom he had already pulled out beforehand, over his shoulder, then gestured to the Light Wind swordsmen trapped in the frost wall.

"Should I call it lucky? No, it doesn’t matter. They’ll die anyway."

Leaving those words behind, he exited the collapsing cavern with Vardiel.

‘Huff…’

Raon weakly lifted his head. Using the little remaining cold energy, he strengthened the frost wall protecting the Light Wind swordsmen before collapsing back onto the ground.

‘Vice division leader…’

Among the members of the Light Wind, Rimmer's face appeared. Even as he fell, he hadn’t lost his smile, and seeing that smile pierced Raon’s heart with unbearable pain, making him want to die.

‘I’m sorry….’

Raon stared at Rimmer before lowering his trembling eyelids. As he exhaled a faint breath, as if on the brink of death, the Blade of Requiem, which had returned to its original form, shimmered with a serene green light.

*   *   *

When Raon opened his eyes again, he was in his mental world.

Although this space was now familiar from frequent visits, today it felt different.

The land, previously divided between heat and cold, was now entirely frozen white, and the swords were scattered around, covered in frost.

Even the eight rings of fire floating in the sky had stopped spinning, tilted downward as though broken.

Just like his heart, the mental world was frozen solid.

"Truly pathetic."

He chuckled faintly as he sat down in the frozen mental world.

He had resolved to avenge his master and surrendered his body to the authority of the Demon King, yet he lacked the courage to sacrifice his comrades.

He felt like a writhing worm, unable to do anything, neither one thing nor the other.

Thunk.

Raon pulled out a sword embedded in the frozen ground.

"Sorry for being such a pathetic master."

He shook his head as he looked at the sword that seemed to be the manifestation of the first head’s Dancing Sword.

‘What would he have done?’

No, what about grandfather?

The most resolute and strongest swordsmen he knew. He wondered how he would have acted in his situation.

“No, maybe it doesn’t matter anymore.”

He was already broken. Even if he survived, it would take a very long time to take revenge.

‘I’ve lost too much.’

Rimmer was dead, Aris was missing, and Sif, on the other hand, had gained strength and information. It was a suffocating outcome, with no gain—only loss.

"It’s all my fault…."

"Are you blaming yourself again?"

Startled by the familiar voice carried by a clear breeze, he turned around.

"Wha…?"

Raon trembled as he looked at the red-haired elf standing with one leg propped up

"I-Instructor…?"

Rimmer. The man he had thought dead was now standing in his mental world. He was so shocked that he unconsciously used the title he had once called him long ago, instead of "vice division leader."

"How… How is this possible? Why are you here…?"

"I don’t know."

Rimmer shrugged as if he didn’t understand either.

"No way…."

"That's not important right now. As I always say, you use your head too much. Sometimes…"

He tapped Raon’s chest and laughed.

“Think with this heart.”

"Ah…"

Raon swallowed hard as he looked at Rimmer. Seeing him say such things, he knew he wasn't fake. It was the real Rimmer.

"Vice division leader. I…"

"I saw it."

Rimmer let out a sigh.

"That's just like you. Raon Zieghart, always greedy to take everything with you, as always."

He chuckled, as if he had expected it.

"But this time, I understand."

Rimmer chuckled, pointing at himself.

"I was the same."

He laughed, saying he had been in the same state, battered while saving Dorian and Aris.

"Vice division leader…"

"Drop the title. Just call me master. I’m tired of treating my disciple as a superior."

"Ah, yes…"

Raon nodded his head.

“So this is your mental world? It’s as boring as I imagined.”

Rimmer shook his head, looking around at the mental world filled with nothing but swords.

“At your age, you should be dating, drinking all night with friends, traveling around a bit, too.”

Clicking his tongue in disappointment, he sighed.

“I’m sorry….”

"But now I understand the reason a little better."

Rimmer smirked as he looked at the Ring of Fire in the sky.

"The reason?"

"Your aura and swordsmanship are already at the level of Transcendence, yet your realm remains stuck at Grandmaster. If your aura was at Transcender level but your swordsmanship was lacking, it would make sense—but since that’s not the case, it was odd that you couldn’t cross the wall of Transcendence."

He narrowed his eyes mischievously at Raon.

"I think I finally understand the reason."

“Hmm….”

Raon didn't answer, only groaned softly, as he didn't yet understand Rimmer's words.

"When I first saw you, you were like a blank sheet of paper—not in terms of martial arts, but in human aspect. Surprisingly, you had deep anger, but you barely possessed the affection, sadness, or joy that other children have."

He waved his hand dismissively, as if describing someone with talent but broken emotions.

"Fortunately, thanks to the good people who gathered around you, you came to know joy, pleasure, and even happiness. But I noticed there’s still something you lack."

"What is that…?"

“Sadness.”

Rimmer raised his index finger toward Raon.

"You didn't know sadness among the four emotions. You were cold when you were young, but you gradually became more emotional. Perhaps human emotions had a great influence on your growth."

"Ah…"

He was right. Raon’s growth had been shaped not only by human emotions but also by the emotions of the Demon Kings.

“But even now, you’ve never experienced sadness. No, you’ve mistaken sadness for anger.”

He grinned and patted Raon’s head.

"Separation is bound to follow the meeting, and those who leave are destined to return. Accept sadness as sadness. You don’t need to endure it by forcibly turning it into another emotion."

He laughed brightly and patted his head.

"Raon. You are Raon Zieghart, no one else. Return to the essence of what it means to be human."

As Rimmer spoke, his body began to blur.

"Master!"

"It seems my time is up."

Looking at his hand that was disappearing like mist, he clicked his tongue.

“I don’t know if we’ll meet again, but I’m glad I could have this final conversation with you.”

Rimmer nodded, asking Raon to pass along his regards to the Light Wind division.

“Oh, and be sure to kill that damned bastard! Got it? I wasn’t going to say this, but seeing him tormenting you too…I can’t stand it….”

He vanished while shouting that Sif must absolutely be killed. It was so typical of him to the very end.

"Haha…"

Raon laughed. When he accepted the emotion he had been forcing himself not to feel, instead of tears, laughter poured out.

He realized that while he accepted sadness, it wasn't the time to shed tears.

Kuuuuung!

However, the pain in his soul, as if his chest was being torn apart, remained. No, it became even worse than before. The pain that followed from sadness was unbearably painful.

As he accepted the emotion flowing through him, the mental world began to tremble. At the edge of the freezing cold that had engulfed everything, golden flames began to burn.

The flames, quietly rising like embers, rode a green wind and spread in all directions.

Whooooosh!

The frozen ground began to thaw, and the swords that had been consumed by frost once again floated into the sky.

Ultimately, the golden flames that reached the sky melted the eight frost-covered rings of fire filled with coldness and connected the ninth ring forged with the sadness of his mental world.

As the Ring of Fire, endlessly rotating like a wheel that never stops even on the battlefield, resonated, they let out a roar that awakened Raon's soul.

ROOOAAAAAR!
