The Reincarnated Assassin is a Genius Swordsman 793

 Chapter 793

Raon blinked as he looked up at the mountain of rocks piled up like layers in a desolate wilderness.

‘Is this really the Holy Sword Alliance?’

The rocky mountain was as massive as the North Grave mountain, but it seemed far too exposed to be the hidden location of the Holy Sword Alliance.

The only thought that crossed his mind was that Merlin had made a mistake.

“It seems Merlin made an error.”

Raon scratched his head and looked back at Rector.

“Let’s first figure out exactly where we are….”

“No.”

Rector shook his head slowly.

“This is the place.”

He murmured with admiration, surprised at how accurately Merlin had managed to send them here.

“H-here? This is the Holy Sword Alliance?”

Dorian’s jaw trembled in disbelief.

“Hmm, there aren’t even many trees, so you can see everything inside….”

Burren let out a thin sigh as he looked at the sparse, scraggly trees.

“Yeah. It’s just rocks.”

Runaan blinked and commented on how empty it was.

“It’s not entirely empty. There are plenty of animals and monsters.”

Martha clicked her tongue, noting that there were only no people.

“To be precise, this is just the entrance to the Alliance.”

Rector smirked and gestured with a hand.

“For Merlin to send us here in one go—her ability far surpasses my expectations. Even though I don’t understand magic well, this shouldn’t have been easy….”

He let out a faint laugh, clearly amazed at Merlin’s magic.

“That’s true.”

Raon nodded with a light smile.

‘Her personality and preferences are peculiar, but her skill is undeniable.’

If Merlin had belonged to the Magic Tower or Balkar Kingdom, she would have been chosen as the successor to the two archmages without a doubt.

But of course, she’d need to stop her stalking habits regardless of affiliation.

“Let’s head up.”

Rector motioned with a finger for them to follow and stepped onto the mountain first.

“Just follow the path I’m taking.”

“Yes.”

Raon instructed Burren, Martha, Runaan, and Dorian to go up ahead while he took the rear.

Fwooosh!

Though Rector walked casually with his hands behind his back, he climbed the rocky mountain as if using a footwork technique, advancing effortlessly.

"So, so damn fast...."

"How can he move like that with just an ordinary walk, not even using aura or footwork!"

"I can't see his feet...."

Martha, Burren, and Runaan couldn't even breathe properly as they followed Rector at full speed, using their own footwork techniques.

“Ugghhh…”

Dorian, unable to keep up, started falling behind, and Raon moved to support him from behind.

“Grandfather.”

When everyone’s faces had turned pale, Raon approached Rector’s side.

“Our appearances will stand out. Shouldn’t we disguise ourselves before reaching the Holy Sword Alliance?”

Raon gestured to Burren, Martha, and Runaan, who were breathing heavily.

His distinctive blond hair and red eyes were already known throughout the continent, and Burren, Martha, and Runaan all had such striking appearances that few people wouldn't recognize them.

What about the pocket brat?

Wrath nodded towards Dorian, who was gagging.

‘Well, he’s...’

Dorian wasn’t exactly unattractive, but the other three had such striking appearances that he tended to be overlooked.

“Hmm…”

Rector turned and stroked his chin as he looked back.

“It’s not really necessary, but it’d probably be wise to do it for your sake.”

“Not necessary…?”

Raon’s eyes narrowed.

"No, it's not that we're trying to seem famous, but we'll definitely be recognized as well...."

Burren also shook his head, convinced they’d be recognized.

“What do you think the Holy Sword Alliance is?”

With a slight grin, Rector turned away from them.

“A bunch of sword-worshiping lunatics?”

Martha muttered cautiously before blurting out what she really thought.

“Kahahaha!”

Rector laughed loudly, the sound reverberating through the ground.

“Precisely. That sums up the Holy Sword Alliance.”

He nodded, affirming Martha’s words as correct.

"The most important value in the Holy Sword Alliance is the sword. A strong swordsman is the truth and the law."

Rector smiled faintly, looking at the trembling eyes of Burren and Dorian, who seemed shocked.

“As Raon said, you’ll stand out. The moment you step into the alliance, your identities will be exposed. So, what do you think the swordsmen of the alliance will do?”

“A-attack us?”

Dorian’s lips quivered with fear.

“Since we’re with the alliance master, they won’t attack us.”

Burren glared and tapped Dorian’s shoulder.

“No, they will attack.”

Rector shook his head calmly.

“But the attack will be…”

“A spar?”

Martha’s dark eyes gleamed as if she finally understood.

“Correct.”

Rector looked down at Martha with a gentle smile.

“The swordsmen of the alliance, aware of your reputation, will be competing to request a spar—not to kill you, but to see what swordsmanship you’ve mastered and how strong you are.”

He nodded, indicating that was all there was to it.

“The reason the Holy Sword Alliance stands at the top among the Six Kings and Five Demons is because of their obsession with the sword. Their passion to swordsmanship rivals even Zieghart.”

Rector dismissed the Holy Sword Alliance as simply sword-obsessed maniacs, waving his hand.

“Martha. I think you’d fit in very well with the Holy Sword Alliance.”

He gave a small laugh, seeming pleased with Martha’s personality.

“It’s him, not me.”

Martha tapped Raon on the shoulder.

"The real sword maniac in Zieghart is Raon. I'd leave after seeing him train later than me, but when I'd go to the training ground the next day, he'd already be there sweating."

She ground her teeth, saying it frustrated her.

“That's right.”

Runaan nodded at Raon.

"Raon's home wasn't the annex building but the fifth training ground...."

She shuddered, saying there were times he didn't go to the annex building for over a month.

“Yes, I know that as well as anyone.”

Rector smiled, proud of his grandson.

“So, should we not disguise ourselves…?”

“It’s still better if you do.”

Contrary to what he had just said, Rector waved his hand, signaling them to disguise themselves.

“Although I’ve taken care of those who followed the previous alliance master and the spies of the Five Demons, there may still be some hiding. It would be better to conceal your identities.”

Recalling the recent incident, Rector turned away, saying they should proceed safely.

“I will go inside to call someone…”

“No need to go! I’ve got everything right here!”

Dorian, who had been gasping as if on his last breath, pulled a disguise kit from his belly pocket.

“Necessities!”

His eyes were bloodshot, revealing an increasing obsession with his supply of necessities.

"Uh..."

Rector’s lips trembled, as if startled by the pressure from Dorian, who had always been so gentle.

"Sigh..."

Here we go again...

Raon and Wrath shook their heads as if they were tired of it.

"Alright, let’s go. We’re almost there."

After glancing over Raon, whose hair and eyes had been dyed black, and the changed appearances of Burren, Martha, and Runaan, Rector resumed climbing the rocky mountain.

They had reached near the peak when his steps came to a halt.

"We’re here."

Standing before a small cave formed by piled rocks, Rector nodded his chin forward.

"Don't tell me..."

"Yes, this is the entrance to the Holy Sword Alliance."

He gave a small nod, a smile playing on his lips.

Raon narrowed his eyes, scanning the area around the rock cave.

'Someone’s hiding here.'

He sensed the presence of people that hadn't been there before, confirming that this was indeed the passage to the Holy Sword Alliance.

They seemed to be swordsmen of the Holy Sword Alliance guarding the passage.

"Trust me and follow. As long as we walk toward the light, even in the dark, there will be no problems."

Rector spoke reassuringly and was the first to step into the cave.

"Uh..."

"Hmm..."

Burren and Dorian blinked at each other, looking somewhat anxious.

"Step aside if you’re not going!"

"Fine."

Martha and Runaan pushed past the two, heading into the cave second. The two showed not the slightest trace of fear.

"Let’s go."

Raon tapped Burren and Dorian on the shoulders before stepping into the cave.

'Hm?'

As soon as he entered, he felt a sensation as if his body was floating. It didn’t feel like a simple cave.

The surrounding darkness was pitch black, but it wasn’t the least bit ominous or dangerous. Rather, it felt as comfortable as lying on a bed after a long day’s work.

This isn’t an ordinary space.

Wrath, curious, looked around with wide eyes.

'Is this some kind of magic? Or maybe sorcery?'

As the King of Essence says times, only weaklings distinguish between magic and sorcery! Just smash it, and it won’t matter in the slightest!

Wrath shook his head, insisting there was no need to differentiate between magic and sorcery.

‘So you don’t know after all.’

No, that’s not it...

Wrath turned his head away, refusing to answer.

'Whatever.'

Raon was muttering about how simple-minded Wrath was when—

Whoosh!

From the darkness, a thick golden flame rose, forming the shape of a person. Although the figure was hazy, it looked like a swordsman with blond hair.

'Wrath. That person!'

Huh? Person?

Wrath frowned, asking where the person was.

'You can't see that?'

As he pointed with his finger at the swordsman burning in the flame, the figure scattered like morning mist.

Are you crazy?

Wrath twirled his finger as if to say he'd lost his mind.

'No, it was definitely him...'

As Raon swallowed nervously, watching the flame die down, the darkness in the cave vanished, revealing a bright scene ahead.

Before him stretched a green plain, reminiscent of Cameloon, said to be the most fertile land on the continent, and behind it, neatly built houses formed a village.

Not expecting to find such a place inside the rocky mountain cave, Raon’s mouth dropped open.

"What is this..."

"Hey!"

As Raon was exhaling in awe at the entirely different world, Martha approached.

“Why are you so slow?”

Martha furrowed her brow in confusion.

“Slow? Me?”

“Raon, you were the last to arrive.”

Runaan pointed next to her. Burren and Dorian, who had been behind him, had already arrived.

“Acting like you weren’t scared, but you were, weren’t you!”

Dorian giggled, claiming he knew all along.

"Hmm..."

Raon narrowed his eyes.

'What’s going on?'

He’d walked in a straight line, yet he’d arrived after them. It didn’t make sense.

"Raon. Did something happen inside?"

Rector approached, his eyes filled with concern.

"No. Nothing happened."

Wrath hadn’t seen it either. Thinking it might have been his imagination, Raon shook his head.

'But that man...'

He looked like the first head of Zieghart.

The golden flame was too blurry to see clearly, but the blond swordsman resembled the first head of House Zieghart he had seen before.

"Then that's a relief. I guess I need to check the passage."

Rector clicked his tongue as he looked back at the dark cave behind them.

"This really is the Holy Sword Alliance, right?"

Raon blinked as he looked at the peaceful village.

"Yes, this is the Holy Sword Alliance."

"It’s quieter than I expected. I thought... huh?"

Raon’s eyes widened as he watched middle-aged men farming and chopping wood.

'Wait...'

All of them were swordsmen.

All the people farming, cutting trees, and fetching water were swordsmen who had trained in aura and swordsmanship.

Each one radiated a refined pressure.

"There isn’t a single person here who isn’t a swordsman."

Rector nodded, watching people focused on their tasks.

" Let me introduce you again. Welcome to the Holy Sword Alliance, a place full of sword-obsessed maniacs.”

He smiled broadly, proud of the Holy Sword Alliance.

"I really like this place."

"I’ll be able to fight to my heart’s content."

"Yeah, it’s perfect..."

Martha, Burren, and Runaan smacked their lips in anticipation, already looking forward to the sparring.

"Ugh..."

Dorian, however, looked around nervously. It seemed his purpose for coming here was something other than swordsmanship.

"Well then, let’s head to my—"

Before Rector could finish, someone came running from a distance. A slick-looking man, it was Rector’s disciple, Mustan.

"Sir Raon!"

Mustan approached Raon, even before greeting his own master, and bowed.

It was a polite and heartfelt greeting, as if meeting a long-lost parent.

“I’ve really wanted to see you! I’m so relieved that you’re safe!”

"Yes. It’s been a while."

Raon smiled as he took Mustan’s hand. Judging by the reaction, it seemed the authority of Envy was still affecting him.

“Master, you’ve returned as well.”

Only after finishing his greetings with Raon did Mustan bow to Rector.

“Hmm, yes. Has everything been alright?”

Rector cleared his throat awkwardly as he asked about the recent happenings.

“Yes. There’s been no contact from Derus or the Five Demons, and nothing unusual has happened.”

Mustan shook his head, affirming that it had been peaceful.

Craaang!

"Aaaah!"

However, from afar, the sound of someone's scream and swords clashing echoed.

Dorian’s face grew even paler.

"Ah, regarding the soul stone you mentioned, there wasn't anyone who knew about it."

Mustan bowed his head, looking apologetic.

"I thought so."

Rector nodded calmly.

“It makes sense—this place is full of sword fanatics. It’d be strange if they were interested in something like that.”

He sighed lightly and turned his back.

"Don't worry. Since the Holy Sword Alliance has branches spread out, I'll find the soul stone somehow."

Rector clenched his fist, as if vowing to himself rather than Raon.

“Yes. I’ll leave it to you.”

Raon recalled that Rector, before leaving Zieghart, couldn’t even bring himself to touch Sia. He seemed to understand the feeling behind that, so he simply placed his trust in Rector.

“Then let’s head inside.”

Rector pointed to a house slightly larger than the others, indicating it as their destination.

“That—that’s the Holy Sword Alliance’s master’s mansion?”

Dorian’s eyes widened in amazement.

"We haven't properly settled here yet. And as I said, what's important in the Holy Sword Alliance is swordsmanship and martial prowess, not the size of one's house."

Rector shook his head, assuring Dorian he’d get used to it soon enough.

“Besides…”

He was about to say more when he noticed people gathering and closed his mouth.

“We greet the alliance master!”

"Welcome back!"

The swordsmen of the Holy Sword Alliance approached Rector and knelt before him.

It was a familiar sight, much like in Zieghart, but there was one difference.

‘A fighting spirit.’

The swordsmen’s eyes sparkled with a desire to challenge Rector.

Raon found it remarkable that they harbored the desire to win despite the vast difference in skill.

‘No, that’s not all.’

The swordsmen of the Holy Sword Alliance weren’t just showing their fighting spirit toward Rector, but also toward Raon, Burren, Martha, Runaan, and Dorian. They seemed eager to challenge these new individuals.

‘A bunch of battle-hungry brutes.’

Leaving behind the intense gaze of the swordsmen that made his heart stir, Raon followed Rector into his mansion.

The interior was even more modest than the outside, simpler than the annex building.

"The original mansion of the Holy Sword Alliance’s master was luxurious, unlike this place. This is just my personal preference."

Rector smiled calmly and gestured toward an old sofa, indicating for them to sit.

“Yes.”

Raon nodded to Burren, Martha, and Runaan, then sat on the sofa.

“I will handle my backlog of work and make arrangements for the soul stone. As for you all…”

Rector looked at Raon, Burren, Martha, Runaan, and Dorian one by one and smiled.

“Enjoy your time here as much as you like.”

“Well, even if you say enjoy, I’m not sure what we should do…”

Raon tilted his head in confusion as Mustan entered with a stack of papers.

The papers looked messy, as though they’d been hastily written.

'What is this…?'
'Challenge letters.'

Mustan smiled, explaining that these were letters from swordsmen challenging them.

“Already?”

“It’s not that surprising.”

Rector shook his head calmly.

"Now that you're here, you are also swordsmen of the Holy Sword Alliance. You can challenge others, and others can challenge you."

He smiled, saying it would be fun.

“Sounds good!”

Martha grinned, saying she would crush them all.

“I feel the same. I want to make up for my shortcomings.”

Burren clenched his fists and nodded firmly.

“I can’t just stay idle…”

Runaan also mentioned her own shortcomings as she looked over the challenge letters.

“Ugh…”

Dorian placed his trembling hand on the challenge letters with a truly reluctant expression.

"Then I will..."

"Not you, Sir Raon."

As Raon smiled and reached for a challenge letter, Mustan shook his head.

“Huh?”

“I’ve skimmed through them, and there isn’t a single challenge addressed to you, Sir Raon.”

Mustan shook his head, saying there were only descriptions of others' appearances, and no one had challenged the black-haired, black-eyed swordsman.

“Hahahahaha!”

Rector burst into laughter, clutching his head.

“It seems you’ve concealed your presence a little too well.”

He waved his hand, saying Raon had been completely overlooked.

“Hmm…”

Raon frowned, feeling regret for not revealing his pressure a bit more.

“Well, now that…”

“No, actually, this works out better.”

Rector chuckled, leaning forward.

“Why not take this opportunity to become a challenger?”

“A challenger…?”

"The swordsmen of the Holy Sword Alliance all hone their unique swordsmanship. It means there's something to learn from each of them. Since you're practicing the versatile sword, you can consider all of them your teachers. If things go well..."

His eyes burned with anticipation.

"Not only will you create a stepping stone to ascend higher, but you may reach a realm that only you can attain."
