The Reincarnated Assassin is a Genius Swordsman 772
Chapter 772
The advantage of the Sword Field Creation, Genesis, is not merely that its power increases with the growth of one's martial strength.
Its true strength lies in the ability to adjust the sword movements and flow of the sword field according to the combat situation.
Kwaaaaaaa!
Raon slashed Genesis towards the opening he found while fighting the Two-Headed Demon, and the brilliant golden light surged forth, erasing any space for them to evade.
Pudeudeuk!
The greatsword held by the old Two-Headed Demon was split apart, and the young Two-Headed Demon’s wooden club was pulverized into nothing, not even leaving behind dust.
But the light of Genesis had not yet faded. Like a rising sun erasing the dawn, the light grew even more intense, covering the entire sky and land.
The majestic radiance not only cleaved the Two-Headed Demon but also sliced through the monsters standing behind them.
Shhhhh.
As Raon lowered Heavenly Drive, the vast light faded, revealing a battlefield that seemed frozen in time.
The thousands of monsters that had once filled the plains were now collapsed, breathless, while red blood pooled over the grassland.
"Urghhh…"
"Arghhh…"
The Two-Headed Demon barely survived by exploding all of the combative energy they had gathered, but they were wounded so grievously that it wouldn’t be strange if they died at any moment.
"D-damn it…"
"Aaaaagh!"
The old Two-Headed Demon knelt, both arms that had been holding the greatsword severed, while the young Two-Headed Demon lost his right lower half from the strike of Genesis as he tried to flee and crawling on the ground.
Both of them trembled all over, vomiting black blood, clearly in agonizing pain.
“Haa…”
Raon furrowed his brow, forcibly swallowing the blood rising up his throat.
‘I'm dying.’
He had used the sword field consecutively, sustained severe internal injuries, and fought two peak Grandmaster-level monsters, leaving his body in ruins.
It was a relief that the battle ended here. If it had gone on any longer, he would have collapsed first.
‘But I still can’t let my guard down.’
Since the Two-Headed Demon inherited the abilities of an ettin, they have regeneration comparable to trolls. Now that they are incapacitated, I must make sure to finish them off.
"Keugh!"
As Raon struggled to move his legs, a pained groan came from behind. Turning his head, he saw Edgar, kneeling on one knee, black blood pouring from his helmet.
"Are you alright?"
He turned and supported Edgar, who was about to collapse. There was a long hole in his back, likely a wound from earlier when he had taken Rimmer and Sylvia's sword strikes directly.
“G-good job, Raon.”
Even while coughing up blood, Edgar smiled smoothly as if thanking him for trusting him.
“No, I…”
Raon’s lips moved, but then he furrowed his brow. He had no idea what to say to Edgar at this moment.
"Edgar!"
While he was pondering what to say first, Sylvia ran over and supported Edgar's head on her lap.
“You idiot! If you came to your senses, you should have told us!”
Sylvia shouted angrily, asking why he had taken the sword strikes with his body.
“If I had, those two wouldn’t have been fooled.”
Edgar wiped the blood from his lips and gave an awkward smile.
“Hmm…”
Rimmer seemed concerned about Edgar, too, but kept his attention on the Two-Headed Demon, ensuring they didn’t move, while glancing back at them.
“But still...”
Sylvia bit her lip deeply, as if pained by the whole situation.
“The sword forms of Demonic Righteous Sword were all wrong, so your strikes didn’t even hurt. For the second form, you have to step forward with your ankle. I told you that before, but you got it wrong again. For the third form, you're supposed to draw a half-circle with your wrist, but the angle was off. And…”
Holding Sylvia’s hand, Edgar started criticizing her Demonic Righteous Sword forms. It was hard to tell if they were on the battlefield or in a training ground at this point.
“Really…”
Sylvia's eyes reddened, looking at Edgar's endlessly chattering mouth.
“How… how could you not have changed at all…”
Tears dropped one by one from her eyes, as if she had missed Edgar’s chatter.
“You’re still as tearful as ever.”
Edgar raised his hand to wipe Sylvia’s tears but stopped. He stared at his blood-soaked hand and lowered it back down.
“Still, seeing you again… really… Keugh!”
Edgar smiled awkwardly before bending over again and coughing up more black blood.
“…Are you alright?”
Rimmer furrowed his brow, seeming to think Edgar was in pain because of his sword strike.
“D-don’t worry. This isn’t because of the physical wounds.”
Edgar weakly waved his hand.
“What do you mean?”
Sylvia gulped, staring at Edgar.
“Hoo…”
Edgar looked between Sylvia and Raon for a moment before letting out a deflated laugh.
“Hmm, it's a bit odd to say it like this, right?”
He raised both hands and grabbed the Death Knight helmet.
“Aaaaaargh!”
Edgar let out a ghastly scream, as if his throat were being torn apart, and removed the helmet with his own hands.
Raon narrowed his eyes as he stared at Edgar’s uncovered face.
‘Is this man… my father?’
His face was pale, as if it had never seen sunlight, and his features gave the impression of a gentle man who loved books.
Despite his kind appearance, his gaze was sharp, revealing a man of stubborn determination.
“I am currently under the control of the Fallen. I’m barely holding on, but I don’t know when I might lose control of my body again.”
Edgar explained, exhaling painfully, that even now he was vomiting black blood because he refused the orders of the Two-Headed-Demons who had gained control from the Fallen.
“But it's okay. It's much better now than being unable to do anything.”
He smiled, calling it a suffering that brought happiness.
“Edgar…”
Sylvia sobbed uncontrollably as she caressed Edgar’s face, tears streaming down her cheeks. Though she was always a tearful person, it was the first time Raon had seen her cry like this since learning about the curse of frost he once had.
“I came too late, didn’t I? I’m sorry.”
Edgar awkwardly smiled as he patted Sylvia’s back. Even then, his hand trembled uncontrollably, as if wracked by terrible pain.
“There’s really nothing I can say to you. I couldn’t protect Sia, nor could I protect you and Raon. I promised to make you all happy, yet I accomplished nothing. I’m a worthless man. All I ever wanted was for our family to live happily, but I made you all suffer instead. But still, seeing that you're living well...”
With his head bowed, Edgar spoke endlessly, as if berating himself.
“You say you have nothing to say, yet you talk so much.”
Sylvia wiped her tears and smiled faintly.
"Raon. I told you your dad was talkative, right?"
She nodded toward Raon, as if urging him to speak with Edgar.
“We’ve already exchanged words.”
Edgar slowly raised his gaze to look at Raon.
“It was brief, but it was heartfelt.”
He smiled gently, saying that fighting alongside his son had been a true joy.
Brief? You talked so damn much, what was short about it!
Wrath waved his hand as if telling him to stop talking nonsense.
‘It certainly wasn’t brief.’
Despite the urgent situation, Edgar had only moved after spilling out everything he had to say. He was just as talkative as Wrath.
“Um…”
“Oh my! Father-in-law!”
As Raon was about to call out to Edgar, Merlin suddenly waved her hand.
“It’s been a long time!”
Merlin smiled brightly as she pressed down the Green King with gravity magic.
"Um, Raon."
Sylvia glanced briefly at Merlin before leaning forward slightly.
"She called me 'mother' earlier. Did you… get married without telling me?"
"M-Married to Merlin?"
Edgar's eyes widened in disbelief.
"I knew she was obsessed, but marriage?!"
He shook his head, coughing up blood in disbelief.
"No, not at all."
Raon let out a deep sigh and approached Merlin and the Green King.
"Arghhh!"
The Green King, clearly exhausted from the relentless battles, could only scream in frustration, unable to put up any real resistance.
Thwack!
Raon, having barely recovered his aura, moved behind the Green King and struck the back of her head with Heavenly Drive.
"Guhk…"
Caught off guard, the Green King collapsed.
"Raon! You should be more gentle with the lady! Or… well, sister? Either way, that was too harsh!"
Merlin frowned, telling him to handle her more gently.
"Enough. Just tie her up properly."
Unlike Edgar, he wasn't sure if Sia could be saved, so he needed to subdue her.
As soon as the Green King—Sia—fell, the monsters attacking the fortress halted. They looked around, seemingly lost, before spotting the sea of corpses and fleeing back into the forest without a second glance.
"Phew!"
Dorian collapsed to the ground with a long, exhausted sigh.
"It's finally over…"
He lay flat on the ground, sniffling, grateful to still be alive.
"Looks like things worked out well over there too."
Burren nodded, staring out over the battlefield that had become a peaceful plain.
"You really did save them."
Martha clenched her fists tightly as she watched Sylvia hold Edgar.
'Then I can do it too.'
Just as Raon had saved his father, she began to hope she could save her mom from the White Blood Religion’s leader.
Though her body was exhausted to the point where it wouldn’t have been surprising if she collapsed right then and there, a newfound determination burned within her, making her feel like she could do anything.
"Yeah…"
Runaan bit her lip deeply as she looked at Raon's back.
'Why couldn't I do that?'
If she’d had courage like Raon, her brother wouldn’t have ended up like that, and her mom and dad wouldn’t be suffering now. Regret rose in her throat, nearly choking her.
'But...'
She couldn't keep regretting forever. Runaan gripped her sword, the Snow Flower Sword, tightly, resolving to end Syria's life with her own hands.

Raon walked past Edgar and Sylvia, standing before the Two-Headed Demon.
Thanks to Rimmer keeping them in check, the Two-Headed Demon hadn't been able to do anything but gnash their teeth.
"You… you bastard…"
Just as the old Two-Headed Demon tried to muster his combative energy with his slowly regenerating left arm, Raon swung Heavenly Drive.
Slash!
The old Two-Headed Demon’s arm was severed once again, dropping lifelessly to the ground.
"Arrgh!"
"Shut up."
Raon reversed his grip and drove Heavenly Drive into the old Two-Headed Demon’s throat.
"Ugh…Guhh…"
The old Two-Headed Demon flailed his limbs, not expecting to be killed so suddenly, and then stopped breathing.
"You killed him just like that?"
The young Two-Headed Demon let out a dry laugh, clearly surprised at the speed of the execution.
"One mouth is enough."
Pulling Heavenly Drive from the old Two-Headed Demon's neck, Raon approached the young Two-Headed Demon.
Thwack!
Without hesitation, he plunged the sword into the young Two-Headed Demon’s shoulder.
"Aaaagh!"
The young Two-Headed Demon screamed and struggled, but his strength was drained, leaving him unable to move.
"Talk. What did you do to those two?"
Raon nodded his chin toward Edgar and Sia.
"Kehehe…"
Even in pain, the Two-Headed Demon didn’t lose his smile.
"You made a very smart choice just now."
"What?"
"If you'd killed me instead of that old geezer, every human here would've died."
Even in this situation, he grinned and lifted his chin.
"Well, not that it matters, since you’ll all die soon anyway."
"What the hell are you talking about?"
"It’s the answer to your question."
The Two-Headed Demon looked up at Raon, licking his lips.
"You asked what we did to them, right? Well… the Fallen…"
With a deeper grin, he moved his lips.
"… used your father as a lab rat."
"What?"
"The Death Knight's helmet can originally only be worn by the dead. You have to make a corpse before putting the helmet on, but the Fallen put it on your father while he was still alive and even protected his soul. Why do you think he did that?"
The Two-Headed Demon, not expecting an answer, kept talking.
"Your father’s soul has been tainted—blackened—by the Death Knight's energy and the negative emotions he himself produced. And that dark energy…."
He pointed a finger at Edgar’s left chest.
"… Condensed into the gem embedded in his heart, creating a spell of destruction. It’s a power fueled by emotions, like that of a demon king from the demon realm. Right now, your father is a living bomb."
The Two-Headed Demon spread his arms wide, his grin stretching even further.
“You must’ve heard it, right? The Fallen said it was complete.”
He tapped his temple, as if urging Edgar to remember.
"Ah…"
Edgar couldn’t refute and parted his trembling lips. His eyes went blank, as if the Two-Headed Demon’s words were the truth
Smack!
Raon, unable to contain himself, threw a punch at the Two-Headed Demon’s cheek.
"Stop it now!"
"Sorry, but it’s already too late."
The Two-Headed Demon licked the blood flowing from his lips and shook his head.
"The Fallen anticipated this exact situation. Once the Soul Severing Sword moves of his own will, the explosion can’t be stopped."
He chuckled, saying it was already like a fuse had been lit.
"Even if you run, it’s useless. The completed destruction spell can devastate this entire region."
The demon glanced toward House Arianne’s fortress.
"Not just you, but everything in that fortress will disappear too."
"Shut up and tell me how to stop it!"
Raon mercilessly beat the young Two-Headed Demon face and body, but all he got in response was pained screams. No answers.
He’s telling the truth.
Wrath frowned, glaring at the Two-Headed Demon.
A massive surge of demonic energy is swelling near your father’s heart!
Wrath swallowed nervously, saying it felt like it would explode soon.
"Stop."
Edgar raised his hand calmly and stood up.
"That wretch knows nothing. This was all planned by the Fallen."
He let out a small, bitter laugh. Saying it was all pointless.
"No..."
Raon, trembling, turned his head to look at Edgar.
Just as Wrath had said, a terrifying amount of demonic energy was swirling near Edgar’s chest.
Even though it hadn't exploded yet, he was certain the energy surpassed the level of the Genesis he had just used.
"Ed-Edgar?"
Sylvia’s hands trembled in disbelief. She wanted to follow Edgar but couldn’t stand, her legs having lost their strength.
"Don’t worry."
Edgar gently stroked Sylvia’s head, smiling softly.
"No one will die."
He looked at Sylvia, Raon, and Sia in turn and nodded.
"Huff..."
After taking a deep breath, Edgar formed his hand like a blade and stabbed his own left chest.
"Arghhhh!"
He screamed in agony and pulled out a dark red gem connected to his heart by blood vessels. Inside the pentagonal gem, an enormous demonic energy was surging.
Tick. Tick. Tick.
The dark red gem emitted sounds like the ticking of a clock's second hand, releasing increasingly dense demonic energy.
It's a soul demon stone!
Wrath widened his eyes at the gem in Edgar’s hand.
It’s a gem from devildom that stores demonic energy of a demon king. But why is it here...?
He frowned, unable to understand why the soul demon stone was here.
‘'What happens if that thing explodes?'
Just as that brat said, this entire area will be wiped out.
Wrath shook his head, saying everything was in danger.
"Edgar!"
"St-Stay back!"
Edgar pushed Sylvia away and moved toward the forest.
His steps were slower than an old man with a cane, likely due to the pain and the energy of the soul demon stone.
But even though Edgar walked with difficulty, he never stopped moving.
Right now, he must be feeling pain as if his soul is being torn apart.
Wrath exhaled sharply, marveling at Edgar’s mental strength.
Now the King of Essence understands where your patience and perseverance come from.
Wrath furrowed his brow, reluctantly admitting his acknowledgment.
"Kuhuhu!"
The Two-Headed Demon waved mockingly.
"It’s too late. You’re all coming with me."
"Shut up!"
Raon stomped on the Two-Headed Demon’s face and turned to look at Edgar’s back.
Despite feeling excruciating pain, Edgar smiled brightly as if telling them not to worry.
Even though he had only met his father twice, an unusual ache welled up in Raon's heart.
‘There is a way.’
Raon grabbed the Blade of Requiem in a reverse grip and raised it above his chest. The Sword Field Creation: The Demon King’s Descent—this was the only way out of this situation.
There were too many eyes watching, and his identity might be exposed, but he couldn’t just let this man, who was supposed to be his father, die.
If you use that sword field, The King of Essence can help. But…
Wrath’s blue eyes darkened heavily.
You won't be able to reach Transcendence.
‘What?’
When you used the second Demon King's Descent, he took the half of the backlash for you, but if you used the third, the backlash will be far more severe than before.
Wrath shook his head, urging Raon to think carefully.
Gulp.
Raon swallowed hard.
‘If I can’t reach Transcendence...’
Then I can’t get revenge.
Derus is so strong that no one except Glenn can face him.
Since he's receiving support from the Archangel, failing to reach Transcendence is tantamount to failing revenge.
"Edgar!"
While Raon hesitated, Sylvia clenched her teeth and ran toward Edgar.
"Don’t come!"
Edgar, veins bulging on his forehead, raised his hand.
"Don’t come, no matter what!"
Unable to withstand the energy inside the soul demon stone, his jaw clenched as veins popped out.
"Please, stay behind me."
Edgar, smiled painfully, begged them to stay. He walked with heavy steps as if it didn’t matter that his soul was about to be obliterated.
"Ah…"
Sylvia trembled all over, hands clasped, unable to believe that she was parting with Edgar like this after finally reuniting with him.
"Raon."
Edgar looked at Raon’s grim face and forced a smile.
"A child should never die before their parents. I’m sorry for leaving like this, but please take care of your mom."
He grinned, saying he was originally someone who didn't exist, so they could live as they had been.
Grit!
Raon bit down on his teeth so hard they bled.
'I don't care if I can't reach Transcendence.'
He didn't want to see Sylvia sad, nor did he want to see Edgar's pained expression.
Even if it meant failing in his revenge, the choice he had to make was clear.
Sword Field Crea...
"You’re finally saying something that makes sense."
Just as Raon was about to stab his abdomen with the Blade of Requiem, A voice, unfitting for the current situation, sounded from behind.
It was Rector, the Sword Demon, now the Holy Sword Alliance’s master, who had approached unnoticed.
"Wh-What...?"
Edgar stopped walking and trembled when he saw Rector.
"Father... why are you here...?"
"Foolish boy."
Rector strode toward Edgar without hesitation.
"St-Stay back! Right now I..."
"You said it yourself."
He grabbed the soul demon stone that was connected to Edgar’s heart.
At that moment, the growing demonic energy subsided, and the ticking sound stopped abruptly.
"A son should not die before his father."
Rector placed his hand on Edgar’s head and nodded quietly.
"Live, Edgar."
