The Reincarnated Assassin is a Genius Swordsman 769

 Chapter 769

Hwaaaaaaaaah!

The darkness the Green King had unleashed could not withstand the flames of the divine sword and slowly melted away like the morning mist under sunlight.

Raon narrowed his eyes as he watched the Green King's sword field vanish into nothingness.

'Sword Field Creation...'

Sword Field Creation is a kind of barrier where a swordsman's accumulated will and mental image are materialized in reality.

As a special ability, it comes with one prerequisite: only swordsmen who inherit the bloodline of Zieghart can use it.

Although Rimmer and Wrath had displayed their own sword field, strictly speaking, it was a slightly different technique that replaced the power of blood by pushing their bodies and minds to the limit.

'But that sword field is real.'

In truth, the darkness the Green King had unleashed was too crude to be called a sword field.

It was far inferior to the incomplete sword field Raon had used when he was a Master, but it naturally followed the flow of Zieghart sword field.

In other words, the woman wearing the black orc helmet had Zieghart blood.

"That's a real sword field…."

Rimmer also gaped at the sight of the Green King's sword field, as if he couldn't believe it.

"That's right."

Raon nodded heavily. As he became convinced that the Green King was from Zieghart, various suspicions and doubts that he had buried began to creep into his mind.

A young body that appeared to be in her twenties, an innate talent as if she, like him, were born with the Ring of Fire, her affiliation with Eden, the few pieces of advice Wrath had given before he fought her, the incomprehensible taunting remarks of the Two-Headed Demon, and now the sword field.

'I still can't believe it, but...'

The Green King seemed to be my sister, Sia, who was believed to be dead.

It explained why I felt a sense of familiarity when I looked into the Green King's eyes and why Wrath had mentioned a similar disposition.

But there was one thing I needed to confirm to be sure.

Gulp.

Raon swallowed dryly and looked at Sylvia. She, not understanding the situation, was staring wide-eyed.

'I have to ask.'

To confirm that the Green King was Sia, he needed testimony from Sylvia.

'However...'

I couldn’t bring myself to speak, unable to imagine how much sorrow she would feel

'Because the reason she came here is also related to that matter.'

Before departing for this mission, Sylvia had spoken with heartfelt words, explaining that the reason she was training to the brink of collapse was to protect her family in the annex building, including Raon.

'Mother has been holding onto unhealed wounds all this time...'

The reason Sylvia had made such a resolution was that she couldn’t protect her husband and daughter.

To avoid experiencing that pain again, she pushed herself to the limit by training every day.

'That's also why she came here.'

Since her son, who had once died and returned, had requested reinforcements from Zieghart, Sylvia couldn’t possibly remain idle in the annex building.

The thought of her asking the Void Sword division’s leader, kneeling before Glenn, and pleading for permission made Raon's fingers tremble unconsciously.

However, even knowing what mindset Sylvia had, he couldn't stop here.

Even if her pain and wounds deepened, the truth had to be revealed.

"Mother, I'm sorry for bringing this up in a situation like this…."

Raon clenched his fist tightly enough for blood to flow and turned to Sylvia.

"What color were my sister's hair and eyes?"

For the first time, Raon asked about Sia's hair and eye color, which he hadn't brought up before out of concern that Sylvia might become sad.

"Brown and red. But why are you asking about that?"

Sylvia still didn't understand the situation and rolled her eyes.

"Huu..."

Raon glanced at the Green King and tightly closed his eyes. Her hair was brown, and her eyes were the same red as his.

"Lastly, mom, did you actually see father and sister die?"

“Y-Yes. I saw them collapse, but they were dragged away while I was unconscious…”

She shook her head, saying that Zieghart's swordsmen had blocked her view.

"Raon. Why are you suddenly asking this... Ah?"

Sylvia seemed to have just realized why Raon asked the questions and turned her gaze to the Green King.

As she scanned the Green King's body, her sword fell to the ground.

"N-No way..."

"Yes, it’s certain."

"Ah..."

Sylvia sank to the ground, unable to even think about picking up her fallen sword.

"No, no, this can't be...."

She shook her head violently, as if refusing to believe it.

Why, why is mom acting like that?

Wrath blinked, looking at the kneeling Sylvia.

'It's because, as you said, that green king woman seems to have come from the same womb as me.'

Wha-What? Th-The King of Essence was just giving an example! But is it true?

Wrath gaped, seemingly flustered as well.

'Yes.'

Thanks to Sylvia's testimony, it was now certain that the Green King was his sister, Sia.

"Hehehe...."

The sight of the Two-Headed Demon grinning as if to say, "You finally figured it out," made Raon even more certain.

"Th-that’s your sister?"

Rimmer also realized that the Green King was Sia and his lips trembled.

"I'm sure."

Raon bit his lip and nodded.

"No. No, it can’t be. That’s too…."

Sylvia's face turned pale. Bloodshot veins appeared in her eyes as she looked at the Green King.

“No kidding.”

The Two-Headed Demon laughed coyly, standing beside the Green King.

"She’s the daughter you abandoned and ran away from."

He nodded firmly, delivering the final blow.

"Aaaaaaaaack!"

Sylvia screamed and clutched her head. Tears, as if tinged with blood, flowed from her eyes.

"You bastard!"

As Raon was about to leap forward, the Two-Headed Demon giggled and hid behind the Green King.

"I haven't finished talking yet."

The Two-Headed Demon raised a finger, indicating there was more to say.

"Stop spewing nonsense and...."

"You'd better listen if you don't want to regret it later."

"What?"

"There's one more secret left."

Leaning his chin on the Green King’s shoulder, he shook his head.

"If the sister you thought was dead is alive, don’t you think the father could be alive too?"

The Two-Headed Demon raised a finger and pointed at the Soul Severing Sword, who stood behind Rimmer.

"That guy over there. Who do you think he is?"

The corners of the ettin helmet he was wearing curled up widely.

"Ah...."

Raon let out a low groan as he turned around. The Soul Severing Sword stood quietly, just as he had when Raon had first seen him in Eden’s branch.

"That's right. He's your father. Even though his aura was worse than a third-rate warrior’s, his swordsmanship was strangely exceptional, so we brought him along. And it turned out to be a jackpot! It’s been a long time since I’ve seen the Fallen smile like that."

The Two-Headed Demon licked his lips and said he had received a significant reward.

"Lies!"

Sylvia shook her head in disbelief as she looked at the Soul Severing Sword.

However, despite her cries of denial, she couldn’t take her eyes off him, as if the Soul Severing Sword’s appearance reminded her of Edgar.

"It's all lies!"

Her mind seemed to be unraveling, and Raon could feel it.

"Hm...."

Raon swallowed dryly as he looked at the Soul Severing Sword.

'Come to think of it....'

Earlier, the Soul Severing Sword didn’t use his full power when ambushing him, nor had he imbued his attack with combative energy.

His strikes, though small, had always left room for Raon to evade.

It was the same when they met at the Eden branch. The Soul Severing Sword had strangely only looked at him, never truly meaning him harm.

Each of these was strange, but if he was truly his father, everything made sense.

'But...'

As Raon pondered the differences between the Soul Severing Sword and the other demons of Eden, the Two-Headed Demon tilted his chin.

“Shall I show you his face then? You might faint, though.”

The Two-Headed Demon chuckled and touched his helmet.

"Shut your mouth."

Raon gripped his divine sword and demonic Sword, stepping forward with the Supreme Harmony Steps.

As he prepared to slice through the Two-Headed Demon, sharp sword strikes flew at him from both the left and the right.

Clang!

It was the Green King and the Soul Severing Sword. The two blocked Raon’s path, protecting the Two-Headed Demon.

"Urgh...."

"Why do you think I’m telling you all this?"

The Two-Headed Demon’s eyes curved into crescent moons.

“I wanted to see a family tear each other apart!”

He clutched his stomach and laughed, a sneer more vicious than any demon's.

It felt like staring at pure evil, something far worse than just a demon.

Hand over your body. This helmeted evil will be crushed by the King of Essence!

Wrath, truly enraged, engulfed his entire body in pure, white cold energy.

‘No, I will kill him.’

Raon bit his lip until it bled, channeling aura into the trembling divine and demonic swords as if they were about to vanish.

"If you want to cut off my head, go kill your sister and father first."

The Two-Headed Demon couldn’t hide his grin, as if he had planned this situation from the very beginning.

Only now did it feel like he was a monster that had inherited the traits of an ettin.

“Ugh…”

Sylvia, having lost the will to fight, knelt on the ground and dry-heaved.

“That brat.”

Rimmer approached from the side, frowning.

“He’s really getting on my nerves.”

He, too, seemed enraged, as his green eyes flashed with a crimson light.

“Hoo…”

Raon exhaled the tainted energy with his breath. Thanks to the Ring of Fire, his anger slowly subsided.

*   *   *

‘Something is off.’

From the Blood Raving Demon to the Specter, all the Eden executives he had seen so far moved according to their own will.

However, the Green King and the Soul Severing Sword, despite being high-ranking executives of Eden, were following the orders of the Two-Headed Demon, not their own will, it was incredibly strange.

'Could it be that they couldn't completely erase their souls?'

As he recalled the Green King, who had used the sword field, and the Soul Severing Sword, who hadn’t imbued his sword with combative energy, he felt a faint possibility of saving the two.

"Mother, I might be able to save father and sister."

Raon turned to Sylvia and nodded.

“What…?”

A small glimmer of light appeared in Sylvia’s eyes, which had been clouded with despair.

“What are you talking about? Once someone wears the helmet, they never return! You know that better than anyone!”

Rimmer shook his head, as if telling him to give up on something hopeless.

“Tsk, tsk.”

The Two-Headed Demon clicked his tongue briefly as he looked at Raon.

“It’s too late, far too late. Their souls have not only melted down but have been completely digested.”

He chuckled and let out a small burp.

“I don’t trust your words.”

“False hope. That’s the biggest culprit that ruins humans.”

The Two-Headed Demon grinned, comparing it to gambling.

“Go ahead and try. It won’t mean anything anyway.”

He shrugged mockingly.

“……”

“That’s bullshit.”

As Raon bit his lip, a familiar woman's voice came from the air.

Wooong!

A long dimension opened, and from within stepped Merlin, wearing an old woman's mask.

“Merlin?”

The Two-Headed Demon’s eyes widened at Merlin’s sudden appearance.

"The senile old man pretending to be from the spirit world has really gotten better at lying."

Merlin snorted as she looked down at the Two-Headed Demon.

"Those two were directly touched by the Fallen. Judging from their current state, their souls might still be intact."

She nodded, explaining that the Fallen often conducted strange experiments, making it a real possibility.

“Mother.”

Instead of approaching Raon, Merlin walked toward Sylvia first, lifting the hem of her skirt.

“It’s not time to give up yet.”

She grabbed Sylvia’s shoulders, calling her ‘Mother.’

“M-Mother…?”

Sylvia's chin trembled as she looked at the old woman mask that Merlin was wearing and the unexpected address.

“Hehe, I just called you that in advance.”

Merlin slightly lifted her mask to show her real face. Although she usually disliked taking off her mask, it seemed to be an action to reassure Sylvia.

“A cross…”

Sylvia's lips quivered as she saw the cross reflected in Merlin's eyes.

“Just wait a little longer.”

Merlin tightly grasped Sylvia’s hand and then stood to Raon’s left.

"Just the fact that you're controlling those two means there's something wrong with your mind. Though, it’s probably all according to the Fallen’s plan."

She snorted as if she had seen through all the Two-Headed Demon’s lies.

“You traitorous bitch…”

The Two-Headed Demon’s lips twisted in a genuine surge of fury for the first time, not mocking, but truly enraged.

“Traitor?”

Merlin chuckled, shaking her head.

“I’ve been on Raon’s side since my previous life. It’s not betrayal—it’s a return to love.”

She waved her pale hand dismissively, telling him not to spout nonsense.

“Ha, fine. That makes things easier.”

The Two-Headed Demon raised his wooden club and aimed it simultaneously at Raon and Merlin.

“I can just kill you all now.”

At his slight nod, the Green King and the Soul Severing Sword stepped forward.

“To think I’d end up fighting alongside Merlin.”

Rimmer joined Raon's right side, letting out a disbelieving chuckle.

“Thanks for your help back then.”

He gave a small bow of gratitude toward Merlin.

“Who are you?”

Merlin blinked as if he had no interest in anyone other than Raon.

“Huh…?”

“Let’s save the greetings for later.”

Raon raised the divine and demonic swords, which had flames and frost starting to swirl around them once more.

“Let’s finish the fight first. Our target is the Two-Headed Demon.”

“Sure. I’ll die if I have to. Don’t worry about it.”

Merlin smiled, as if she would save Edgar and Sia even at the cost of her own life.

“This is going to be tough.”

Rimmer sighed, but nodded in agreement.

“Then I’ll leave it to you.”

Raon rotated the Ring of Fire as he stepped forward using the Supreme Harmony Steps.

With both the divine and demonic swords gripped tighter, he advanced toward the Two-Headed Demon.

Before he could swing his two swords, the Green King and the Soul Severing Sword blocked his path.

The Two-Headed Demon smirked and stepped back, as if inviting Raon to cut them down all he wanted.

Chiiiing!

Raon did not stop his charge. Completely trusting the two behind him, he moved forward without hesitation.

Rumble!

As the Green King’s slash and the Soul Severing Sword’s demonic energy flashed, powerful mana and wind surged up from behind.

Wooooong!

Merlin conjured dozens of magic circles, pushing back the Green King just as she was about to stab Raon, while Rimmer struck down the Soul Severing Sword with a blade surging with wind and lightning.

Chiiiing!

Raon lowered the divine and demonic swords toward the relaxed Two-Headed Demon, who was leisurely watching.

“You’re underestimating me too much.”

The Two-Headed Demon chuckled as he lifted his wooden club diagonally.

Kwaaaang!

Raon pressed down on the Two-Headed Demon’s wooden club with both his divine and demonic swords, flames and frost erupting from them as if it were their final strike.

Unlike the diminishing flames, his increasingly strong will carved deep cracks into the wooden club.

“What in the…?”

The Two-Headed Demon widened his eyes as he looked at the wooden club shaking as if it might break.

“Keep laughing.”

Raon pushed his red eyes towards him, drawing a cold smile.

"Because today will be the last day you can laugh."
